I really hope Anet will fix the kitten pull glitch that you mentioned.

Successful Pull > Go for Pry Bar > WHAT THE HELL DUDE WHERE DID YOU GO? > Oh you’re actually in front of me but your character is 600-800m away > die cuz you get glitched stunned > port to DR and jump off Lyssa statue.

That’s the thing with Engineer’s + Legendaries… we have the cool effects only when wielding but once we switch to a kit it’s all gone.

Right after I crafted The Predator, rifle builds were nerfed haha.

Right after I crafted The Juggernaut, I realized how it poorly combined with Engineer skills. The only skill that shows the weapon trails is auto-attack -_- and of course you get the cool silver tint on your character and foot trails but… COME ON ANET!

xD I’ve resorted to a cheese build just because I was tired of the 10v1 roaming.

Running full Dire with Perplexity Runes, TK, BK or GK and either RB or Elixir S. Depending on the situation I’ll run with Mortar Kit or switch to Soup Crate.

I enjoy using the hammer (sometimes) on my Engineer but it bugs me that the animation for the number 2 skill Electro-Whirl doesn’t actually spin while moving. It does this weird choppy spin and it just gets to me because on a warrior their number 4 skill actually spins the character.

Hoping Anet will look into this animation issue

Also, I just made my Juggernaut and sorta lacking some weapon trails.

I love bombs and I like the idea of them implementing our engineers actually carrying a bomb but it feels a lot slower now with the new animation lol. Remember when we used to drop little cupcake bombs? xP

As others have said in this post, solo-roaming as an engineer is best if you know how to play core. Scrapper is fun to solo roam but I feel like there’s not much you can do once you get outnumbered. Of course you can find ways to escape (best thing about engineer) but if you want to stick to solo, you should try pistol/shield or pistol/pistol. Rifle would be fun too still but I haven’t really tried that in a long time.

Most people dont post builds on here as they figure out their own because all ranger players have their own style, only time there are builds is to show ranger class isnt completely useless and people take those ideas into their own builds.

If you want to play Ranger for FotM then do it. Don’t get discouraged because others say Rangers aren’t viable to the game. If you can make it happen then you can make it happen. Chopps is right about “micro” if you can do that you and your pet have a better chance to survive and finish. Find something that works with the way you play.

They need to make them NOT account bound. Then they can be sold on the TP and salvageable. And, those of us that like WvW more than fractals can gear up our characters too.

It is lunacy that you can buy every other tier of armor/weapons, including legendary, on the TP, but not ascended.

Normally i would say… to bad, run fractals if you want fractal loot….
but Anet changed my opinion when they made “fractal” players have to do daily’s, and now guild missions to progress through fractals….running fractals does nothing to help me advance in fractals anymore.

in my opionion there are different main focuses for players
pve player – farmer, legondaries, cares about karma
fractal player – fractal weapons, fractal gear, fractal levels
pvp/wvw players – logs in to pvp

stop forcing people to cross their main focus, it just makes people mad.

Best way is just to micromanage your pet. Leave your pet on guard and manually have it attack when you feel the need for it to attack. I find this very useful in dungeons and FotM. It just takes timing and practice. If you believe you can make “your” Ranger viable to the game then make it viable to “yourself.” The way you play your Ranger will always be different from how others will play theirs. Each player has their own style and that’s what makes our class unique despite all the issues we have

Since pet’s don’t have AR in FotM I try to not use mine as much unless needed to tank a non-agonizing foe. My build right now for PvE/FotM is support.

You can switch out the traits as you wish. At the moment I have no set traits to use as I switch them up depending on the situation.

I don’t crit as much as I used to when I was full berzerker but I manage to stay alive enough to support and bring back downed allies which is key to higher level fraggles.

Though my play style is still berzerker i’m learning to use that side to side with being supportive as best as possible.

My main stats are Power/Vitality/Toughness so pretty much anything “Soldiers” will do the job. I’m still debating whether to go full Rune of Dwayna or keep the Soldier runes… but we’ll see

I mix in a few +crit just to get that extra damage when possible and I eat Peach Pies

Everyone has their own way to play Ranger and if you find one that fits your style then stick to it because right now there’s no wrong way to play ranger.

Friends and I have been getting that one lately… pretty much all runs we did had that one in the mix.

May or may not be bugged. Maybe it’s just not spitting it out for you and your group.

yep! I’ve done it for my engineer when he was level 3. He is wearing some level 40-60 gear that i’ve bought cheap off the BL. You can use the transmutation stones you get from rewards.

Sylvari Male #3 is the only one i’d use…

This one is annoying and leaves me embarrassed. At times when fighting a foe i’ll use Rapid Fire to down the enemy but the enemy is already dead yet i’m still firing 4-5 more arrows at nothing.

The only solution(s) i’ve found that work is to press “esc” or switch weapons (if cooldown is reset). The only thing with “esc” is that it opens the Options menu which sometimes kills me haha. Is there such a button that will “STOP” a skill from continuing?

Yeah that is one of the basics to start off your Ranger. CoF is a nice one for zerker gear.

I was lucky enough to report one near HotW entrance. Luckily the animation was long enough for me to take his name down and report. He’ll probably see this post and come up with excuses to get me banned now… >.<

While I was leveling up my Ranger I tried to be as supportive as possible but then the “Rogue/Assassin” came out of me and wanted to go full DPS and crit the kitten out of everything i saw. It was fun for a short while and I still go back to it from time to time. Right now, i’m loving my somewhat support/dps build because now i’m able to stay alive longer and help allies when down during dungeons/fractals.

As for pets… get all of them and experiment which one works best for the way you play. I use bears for everything and sometimes switch to Drake or Lynx. Spiders are nice for their range if your pet can’t get over an obstacle in PvE situations.

Crit Build/DPS = Power/Prec/Crit

Support/DPS = mix between Power/Vitality/Crit Damage and Power/Toughness/Vitality

very interesting!! I did notice that too while I was leveling up my Sylvari. As long as you bow to the trees, plants and ores we should be ok. :P

I reported a character not too long ago because it was obvious he/she was botting. I hope I don’t get banned if they come back to Anet saying they weren’t -__-

But i mean, there’s no way someone would log in and end up next to a chopped down tree chop an invisible tree (on my end) and disappear. Plus I was in front of HotW, such a random spot for a low level to even appear.

Rangers are versatile we can choose a condition build or high damage or tank like most other professions but we are never alone.

:D we are never alone. I like that.

All in all, we rangers, necromancers and engineers will strive in the long run. We have to find ways to work around the issues we have and with that it makes us better players and not to mention very patient players. I love my ranger and i don’t care much about the issues or bugs we have. It will be very rewarding once they fix us

I chose the Sylvari because of they had an impact on me when I first bought the game. They are plant-like beings and seem to be all about love. Also, they remind me of Night Elves.

Would be nice to have unisex/shared hairstyles for sylvari. Nothing wrong with having long hair

I have no problems with the longbow. I think it’s very useful in certain situations. Then again, i’m not much of a Player vs Player type.
