Number 7 addresses this. Lore-wise, it’s possible Sylvari don’t have an developed funeral/memorial culture. Practically speaking, it didn’t make sense to have two memorial sequences slowing down the start of LS3.
I like Trahearne as much as anyone, but Eir’s memorial was enough reflection to kick off the new season.
I went and read the link… It made me cringe again. Such a big smelly heap of bullkitten that is!
I still can’t understand, when the heck did some mostly urelated Norn lady become the PC’s close friend regardless of the fact that non-Norn PC doesn’t even meet her much. If I didn’t read wiki and lore forum threads, I’d barely notice her. How is she so much more important for all the Sylvari toons than Trahearne?
“The world mourns Trahearne (yeah, in backstage, right?), so you don’t need to do that, deal with it…” Really?
Oh c’mon Anet, do you realise you make no kittening sense at kittening all?
At this very moment I deeply hate whoever came with this moronic idea and even more moronic “explanation”.
Although I like the rest of the update quite a lot, this ruins it for me big time.
They’re like that so my character is able to think “see, I can kill an enemy too”
Hey, that’s exactly my problem with the new story. All the more as I play a Sylvari toon:
After defeating the dragon I rush of to a “dear friend’s” (really? when the kitten did that happen; seen her like 5 times? and not that she was much help…) funeral, not caring at all about someone I’ve known practically all my life, who helped me many times and who died by my hand (pun, although cynical, intended). Oh, and by the way Eir was probably dearer to me than Mother Tree, seeing how I don’t even find time to go check on her in the Grove.
So basically we just say that yeah, Trahearne sacrificed himself, let’s move on. And then, the longest thing said about the “held in high regard” person who made the Pact start, is “he screwed up, take his place and get buried in a safe office”. Listening to Almorra made me cringe inside.
So, for Mordremoth’s bloody roots, at least give me a gravestone/statue/anything to my home instance!
(Sorry if my rant is a little confused.)
I predict I might miss my cousin’s wedding on Saturday.
And also that annoying covered piece of map between TD and Metrica gets explored. I hate covered pieces in the middle of explored areas, boohoo.
The only thing missing is Jack Sparrow…
Hey, that was my very first thought upon having my character wear one of those: behold the weird stench drifting around me!
Awesome, I have something to browse. Thanks.
Best in-game day/night timer is a Sylvari toon – yay for bioluminescence!
In ancient times all races had their own subforum… I kind of miss them.
Pity I came too late for those, they’d have been my dreamland
But seeing the absolutely overwhelming interest here I guess I know why they’re gone now…
I’m really curious how the content will be given to non-raiders in case of need. Right now I can think of three ways.
Either the information is “found out” by raiders and non-raiders in the same way, which sucks, ‘cause it makse raiding characters’ work not matter, turning it into what – some kind of unreal prophetic dream?
Or non-raiders get just a summary, which sucks too. One big black hole in many characters’ memories (LW1) is more than enough. That would make them just poor souls unable to hold their own history in their heads.
The third way would be different means of getting relevant information for raiding and non-raiding characters… Seems a bit difficult to do, though.
Did you try equipping the Druid trait line? Because it’s necessary for using the new skills.
Yup, once the items have been “submitted” (sorry, can’t think of better word right now…) to the collection, you can get rid of them.
The Queen speaks
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/an-interview-with-queen-jennah/It sounds like a leader-pro-tem for the Pact has been chosen? Unless the original reasons for selecting the outsider Trahearne come back and Whispers and Priory decline to follow Soulkeeper.
I’d say Almorra makes sense for the position, at least right now. However, that might change when the troops are more or less safely back from the jungle.
Can you please make your Text more readable? Its really unpleasent to read this Wall of Text
Exactly that.
I’m actually very interested in what you write but I have a hard time reading it.
While browsing through the Lore subforum, I got this idea that sticky threads about each playable race could make things much easier for people wanting to discuss all about them. Especially (but not only) newer players might appreciate not having to search the subforum all the way back for information or opinions mentioned years ago and scatterd around in pieces.
I am very happy that LS3 is connected (in some way) with Raid Narrative, and I expected that something will be from the Wing 3. But the words from statement confused me.
“Raid stories can—and should—be thematically tied to Tyrian lore and enhance the game.
If any lore information from the raids is relevant to storylines in other content, we’ll make sure that information is also available in that other content.”But: “Raids are not part of our Living World episodes; they are separate game elements.”
I cannot understand this paradox.
Ever seen a filler episode of a TV show? They aren’t necessary to watch to get the story, but they do provide backstory and character development. It can enhance the story, but isn’t required for the big picture. That’s what it sounds like they’re doing to me.
So it isn’t a paradox. They don’t expect people to have raided to get the full story. The raid narrative just might have ties to that story and may enhance it in some way, or not.
but this feels more like if, let’s say, world’s top athletes were let in a cinema 15 minutes earlier to see the part of Superman movie when Krypton gets destroyed. only then the rest can come in and get told “he’s from Krypton, it exploded, no one else survived”. sure, you don’t NEED to see that part to get the rest of the movie, but it still kinda sucks…
and then someone tells them "you should have become top athletes too, then you’d have been able to see it.
is that stated anywhere, please? because i’d be sure to tell my guildie to do so if it’s reliable info.

thank you
If you bought it from Anet less than 30 days ago, you get a refund .

so… Eir has a fancy funeral, good for her. i hope Trahearne gets one as well, he sure deserves it.
personally, i don’t want to lead the whole Pact, the “go and fetch/go and kill guy” role is more than enough. i’d prefer my character becoming much less official and known to be honest. like, let me do the fetching and killing and leave the organizing agenda and representation to some other poor soul.
i’ve been having the same problem. when f2p guildies want to donate to treasury, they’re told “buy HoT”, they want to get guild boost – “buy HoT”, want to use the guild arena – “buy HoT”.
it makes me feel more and more akward trying to recruit new people with “we have a guild hall, but you won’t be able to use it much”…
that certainly is not what i’d call “full access to all other guild features”.
I’d just like to add that some of the captured Sylvari probably don’t turn, they die (either in the process or because the Court has no other use for the unturnable ones apart from poisoning the Dream with their suffering and death). And that’s why they don’t run around telling the story.
but my idea of sexy shows the character’s physique without an excessive or impractical amount of skin.
I love skin, skin is amazing, I came into this world in nothing but skin and I’ll probably leave it the same way, the more skin the better. Cloths just get in the way. I’ve always found cloths to be very annoying, especially in excessive amounts. ( unless it’s freezing cold weather then by all means bring on the layers)
Lol. That’s cool I guess, but there’s enough immersion breaking frippery in the game as is. As commanders of the pact we really ought to dress the part.
dress the part? most of the time spent in core maps no one even knows who that guy/lady is. and even a person as important as Pact Commander should be allowed to be themselves, more so in their free time. actually, isn’t it more important that the dragon died than what we were wearing while killing it? although it’s an entertaining idea that all fashion mags in Kryta would analyze Commanders victorious outfit…
that would be a huge priceless mindkitten. and LS3 would be all about the spanish inquisition, because nobody expects the spanish inquisition.
For one thing, I don’t think the demand for ‘sexy/revealing’ armour is the same for both sexes. There’s always an extremely vocal group that challenges the status quo in these topics, but in-game you’ll see far more male characters of the tough, cool or stylish variety than anything else.
Because they have almost no choice save for certain pieces like the Lich/Daydreamer’s/Feathered. Speaking for myself here, I dropped money because I could make my human male run around half-naked. That’s the level of skimpy I want for my in-game males and wouldn’t hesitate to throw monies for some more stripperific guy costumes.
By no means am I a part of a “vocal minority” since I usually lurk, but I really wanted to add my voice to the crowd to support more smexy male armors. By all means keep/add the skimpy female costumes (imo)! Give the male characters some extra attention too
exactly this.
there are like 3 revealing male chestpiece skins in heavy and 1 or 2 in light. none in medium which i’d need for my main. gotta get daydreamer outfit for him probably although i don’t really like it except for the bare chest. and if i want bare legs (all the pretty sylvari glow to be seen)… only T3 cultural sylvari light armor comes to mind right now, though there might be 1 or 2 more. again not in medium.
I’d actually be happy even if they made just some more culturally different outfits. we have Cook and Wedding, there could be another. and if I understand correctly, outfits are easier to make than aromr sets. just let me wear some more of those leafy thingies I see on the citizens in Grove.
well, in these pics my toons are wearing the same armor mix (minus the head gear). and know what? she wears those pants mainly because he CAN’T and i like them plenty. i’d like them much much more on him. and i guess the pics go with this threads title pretty well…
my “Matrix ice-cream” ranger wearing a mix of Nightmare and Evergreen armor with Chaos gloves and Inventor’s sunglasses
and summer ninja thief in Leystone/Sneakthief mix and Daredevil’s scarf
also – does anyone else try to rotate the toons in the pics here or is it just me?
YES THIS! Nothing makes me go “Really? Come on!” than seeing an armor that is revealing on women but covers a man completely from the neck down. Is there some cultural reason, especially for the humans, that causes the men to dress so conservatively? From what I’ve seen, most male armors even have something to hide an already well-covered rear.
Male bodies are beautiful, give them armors as revealing as the female armor counterparts, or, really, a lore reason that men are such conservative dressers. It is noticeable.
Uh no do not make them as revealing, women naturally have more to show, especially in traditional fantasy where men dont shave legs. Now if you mean men should have the option to share bare chest they already do have some of those options.
just the opposite – DO make them as revealing. no one says people HAVE TO use those on their toons. and 3/5 playable races are totally not in need to shave anything anywhere be it male or female. (not talking about how i don’t understand what’s wrong with unshaved male legs.)
Thats silly, you dont need to make them as revealing, men dont need to wear skirts or whatever to reveal muscles which lets be honest here thats all men have to really show for.
the thing is, i LIKE men wearing skirts and other skimpy outfits. it’s not always only the muscles a lady enjoys seeing. this one here at least doesn’t even care for muscles all that much. so i’d heartily welcome a chance to dress my characters to my liking.
Why? By that logic you might as well make a female, because men cannot look like a female in this game, your just trying way to hard at this point. This is a game its not meant to represent a specific community, not everyone wants to see males cross dressing like that in an mmorpg, it would likely be to immersive breaking.
i don’t want them to look like a female. i just consider skirt wearing man as manly and attractive as any other. have you ever heard of kilts? the problem here seems to be that YOU have your view on “maculine sexy” and you’re not able to understand that someone else has different tastes in that. tell me why should anyone else than you should follow your oppinion of sexy/attractive/whatever while making their toons (or in any other area, really)?
