I looked over the stream are you the only member of work? That’s really hardcore lol. Our NA prime time is 60% posers, 10% icoa, and 30% good guilds It’s so funny that it’s always the bads that chest thump.
I’m going to assume you are not from ICoa even considering you singled them out in your post. I don’t care how “good” you deem yourself to be or how “good” you deem the guild you hail from or your views on how “good” you believe some guilds are, you don’t call over half of your NA prime time allies “posers”. Heck, I wouldn’t even call 10% of your NA prime time “posers” just the handful of forum warriors that you have here.
Anyone that is dedicated to coming to WvW for the good of the server, and puts their time into helping do not deserve to be called that. Maybe a few forum warriors here that decide to claim others are “bads” and have nothing to back it up can be called that.
Have a little respect for you allies, seriously. Even I have a little more respect for them than that, and they are sworn enemies.
To be quite honest, I believe he was in ICoa up until a few days ago, I could be wrong. But I thoroughly agree with the points that you have made.
Well yeah, that’s true but that’s why you get there with plenty of time to spare so you can go from overflow to the actual zone in time for the event to start. Showing up at the last minute isn’t going to do you any favors.
It’s human error in all cases. The events are not unplayable it’s just that either the OP is showing up too late (so they’re stuck in overflow and show up after the mob is dead) or they don’t have a computer decent enough to handle the excessive amounts of animations and spell effects (and yes it can get pretty laggy at times) which causes the game to crash so that the player misses out.
None of these reasons justify a change which penalizes a large amount of players.
I don’t show up late; I watch the timers religiously to ensure that I get there before the pre-events even start. I’ve never been stuck on an overflow server for a world event, but I know plenty of people who have. And it’s not my computer; my machine was custom built to handle high end games. The skill lag was not an issue until guesting was implemented, it’s a new issue. But when an issue becomes so large that it affects hundreds of people in an area, this case it’s a server, then it is a justifiable reason to implement a change. I’m sorry if I don’t like seeming like I stand still at these world events while I’m playing on my beast of a computer. Sometimes, it is an actual problem server side and not the players’ computer.
World events, such as Jormag and Shadow Behemoth, have lost all of their luster due to extreme lag brought on by an overwhelming amount people attending these events; a good sum of which are guests from other servers. There have even been people bragging about guesting to different servers, on all of their characters, to be able to grab the chest numerous times a day, when it’s only suppose to be once a day, per character.
Would it be plausible that world events be adjusted to:
account wide – once a day, per account, regardless of server
or
only attainable on home servers
It’s not fair to the ‘home worlders’ to be forced out of these events because of this lag.
It also causes ‘home worlders’ to get stuck on overflow servers. We shouldn’t be forced to wait to join the real server because x amount of people from y servers decide to pay a visit to our server to exploit the guesting feature.

Are you serious? haha.
That I found it less serious due to the amount of profanity? Yes. Profanity, after so much use, only makes an individual seem unintelligent and illiterate. There are more words that have more of a motivational meaning than the swear words used repeatedly in this. You don’t have to swear to get a point across.
Yea, you’re still not guaranteed to get a rare with every boss chance, but the likelihood that you will has gone up significantly. I’ve done several world events over the past few days and got blues and greens, but no rares.
Rares, at one time, were something to be proud of if you looted it from a chest. Now, it’s like ‘meh, whatever’. Even though I am pleased with the direction that Anet has chosen to go with the loot drops, I’m not happy with the extent that they went. I’m all for increasing the chances of rare drops, but not by this much.
I run 30/15/10/0/5 on my ele and I tend to outlast a vast majority of the people around me in WvW. I’ve got around 3400 attack power, 50% crit, and 75% crit damage without food. I do, however, have to kite a lot. It requires a lot of moving, dodging, and blasting staff helps out a lot. I’ve never been one to follow a specific build; the thing I like most about GW2 is the versatility in builds that compliment player styles.
Would it be possible to implement a boon filter but give it a toggle so it can be turned on/off? Better yet, give it the toggle but also settings to where you can select what boons you want to block. The filter could be set up something like:
Boon Filter On/Off
Block all incoming boons from outside party
Block Swiftness
" Aegis
" Protection
" Retaliation
" Might
" Fury
" Endurance
" Regeneration
I cannot begin to count how many times I would die from over jumping because someone came up behind me and cast swiftness right when I started my jump. It gets so infuriating having to wait for the area to be clear so I can make the jump without getting sling-shotted over the edge.
Disclaimer: I do not want to be able to block every boon, just swiftness; I listed the others for fairness purposes.
There’s one that attacks the camp at Nageling (spelling?). I think it’s in Diessa Plateau, but can’t be really sure.
I have been going over everything for the past couple of days, trying to figure out what runes to put into my armor, but I’ve gotten nowhere. I’ve asked my guild for their opinions, but they weren’t much help; there was some bickering over what runes should be used and why. So now, I’m asking everyone else.
I’m currently sporting a full set of PVT gear with Knight’s accessories, and Berserker’s weapons; my backpiece is even PVT.
I’m traited 0/0/30/20/20:
Valor – VI, IV, XI
Honor – III, X
Virtues – VI, IX
I’m running Sigil of Perception in my Mace & Shield and Sigil of Accuracy in my Greatsword and Hammer.
From what I have researched these are the most commonly used rune set ups, but few have stated what their characters look like so I’m not sure if they would be a good fit for me:
2 Monk/Earth/Dwayna
6 Earth
6 Soldier
2 Monk/Water/Hoelbrak
3 Water/3 Monk
2 Water/Monk/Sanctuary
6 Lyssa
2 Water/Grove/Dwayna
6 Melandru
I want something that will increase my health, and possibly my damage output, without skimping too much on the support role that guardians are suppose to play.
I am so glad knowing that I’m not the only one having issues with culling now! I keep complaining to my boyfriend on how bad that culling has become since the last update but he’s insisting that it’s better, or at least it is for him. I know that on my computer, which is much better than his, that the culling has gotten a lot worse for me; the game culls everything now, mobs, enemy players, friendly players, the terrain! It’s almost to the point where I don’t even want to log in because of the culling -_-
Before I go on to explain my ‘fix’ let me make it clear that this covers all stealth in the game, it is not focused specifically on thieves. Let me also make it known that I play a thief, so I am well aware of its mechanics.
I am not calling for a nerf. However, I am suggesting that stealth be adjusted to reflect more realistic scenarios; basically, if damage is done to the target, stealth is deactivated.
Stealth should not be able to hide smoke and/or flames from burning damage
Stealth should not be able to hide blood (damage)
Stealth should be used as an escape mechanism, but deactivated once hit again
In real life scenarios, if your cover(stealth) is blown, then people know where you are. That simple principle should apply to the stealth mechanic in the game as well. There is nothing more annoying than looking at your damage log, seeing that you’re hitting something, but don’t know where it is. The inability to be able to find your target, after contact has already been made, leads to shooting blindly into the area around you and ultimately turns you into a sitting duck.
Slightly, and I mean slightly, increase the cool down on stealth, and change it to where stealth is deactivated upon taking damage, and the issue with ‘perma-stealth’ thieves will be no more. Just make the cool down long enough for the client to cull the fall back model for more than half a second…
I support this idea.
Yea, but I wasn’t even going backwards. I was just running along and noticed a backwards pair of prints, so I stopped and took a screen shot.
The other day, while running around on my charr, I noticed that a set of my pawprints were backwards in the snow. I did not change my position or anything, this is exactly how I was.
As an Asura, I’m sure my character would quite like a Norn mount so he can ride around on their shoulders.
Also, I can run him around LA spamming ‘BEEP BEEP’ and ‘THIS THING’S GOT GREAT MILES PER GALLON’.
I would imagine it’d be more fun to ride on the back of a charr as they’re bounding about.
Blackgate – WvW TC Borderland
Well, can we please get more giants out there somewhere?
The stacking can be counter measured with Fear and knockdowns, assuming there isn’t any stability boons. The AoE damage shouldn’t be nerfed because people can’t figure out a way around the stacking…
Also, centuries ago, in war, soldiers would hunt down the commanding officer of the enemy army, who was usually easily distinguishable by a feather plume in their helmet or a crest on their shield. They did this as a means to speed up the take down of the enemy forces, and as far as I know, it worked rather well.
I have no qualms with being able to see an icon floating over the head of an enemy commander, but I do not think that tying achievements to the killing of said commanders would be a wise idea; it would open the door to a lot of abuse, harassment, and player griefing.
Gotta watch out for them chickens!
The only party member that should have a different color is the party leader, especially in WvW. It would make it so much easier determining who to follow and where to go if we were to be able to tell the difference between their dots.
I don’t classify a basic grade level of a helm, aka white, of rare value. In my opinion, the only things that should be in the chests are masterwork and higher items.
I’m surprised that this hasn’t been fixed yet. I’ve just reached this part and can’t get beyond the second wave. Needless to say, it’s still bugged.
That would be great. I’m tired of not running AC or CM because I don’t remember what paths I’ve already done…
I use the Corsair Vengeance K60 keyboard and a Razer Mamba mouse. I particularly like the way that the Mamba fits to the positioning of my hand and the response time of the keyboard is fantastic. The only downside, in my opinion, to the Vengeance K60 keyboard is the lack of macro keys, but I hardly ever find myself in a position to where running a macro would be viable anyhow. Here’s the info for you to peruse over:
You wont find any mega guilds with 500+ members on BG
What happened to iCoa?
ICoa has close to 500 people, but as far as I know, 500 is the cap on a guild’s size; nobody will have a 500+ member guild. But nonetheless, ICoa, to some degree, is almost always in WvW.
I’m sure there are a lot of players out there that have a large stack of transmutation stones collecting dust in their banks; I’m one of them. However, I never seem to have enough Fine Transmutation Stones. I would like to suggest that we be able to combine Basic Transmutation Stones, along with something like a Mystic Forge Stone, in the Mystic Forge to create Fine Transmutation Stones.
The game, as a whole, lacks healthy competition outside of sPvP. WvW is too much of a zergfest for competition to grow in there and there is absolutely no competition in the open world; as you have said, everyone wins. I have been playing GW2 since closed beta and the only thing that is keeping me here, aside from wanting to play the game with my boyfriend, is the completionist desire to fulfill every achievement I possibly can, aside from the GW1 ones.
The open world isn’t too big for the population of the game. Most of the players are either running around in Orr, farming karma/coin, or WvW, running with the zerg like a herd of horses.
So I completely understand the feeling of quitting one day; the lack of competition and society in the game really kills the overall experience for me.
Monthly achievements aren’t really worth the hassle anyhow, IMO.
You can get it from crafting as well…
That would assume that I’m a GW1 player and know what it is; unfortunately, I am not, so I have no idea what it is.
I would like replies to remain open to the fact that not every GW2 player played GW1.
well i DID checked every loc posted in wiki. adn u know what? NOTHING within an hour.
I’m with this guy^
We have been given some rather nice holiday events for Halloween and Christmas; I was wondering if they were planning on doing something for Valentine’s Day. As we all know, it is a month away and Anet has already stated that they have some content related plans for the end of January and sometime in February, so what is the possibility that there’s something in there for another holiday?
What would you like to see implemented for Valentine’s Day? Bug fixes, class balancing, WvW changes, and sPvP alterations need not be mentioned.
The ONLY thing that anyone would need an abundance of karma for is a legendary weapon. Nothing in this game is truly required, it’s all optional and plays on how much time and effort an individual wants to commit to it.
By the way, I have a couple hundred grand worth of karma, not including the bottles in my bank, and I have NO use for it because I am choosing not to pursue a legendary weapon; so your argument about us all needing karma is now null and void.
Oh no, I got the point as soon as I looked at them; I even laughed at it. But I don’t think it’s worth, anyone outside of Arenanet, getting upset about.
To my understanding, there are world boss events that spawn in the borderlands, but I’m not sure when they happen, how often, or what triggers them.
You know, mimickry is the oldest form of flattery…
But they do change out at least one monthly achievement every month…
Besides, they’re optional; you don’t really have to do them if you don’t want to.
They stand out enough if you hold down ctrl (or is it alt) as it displays the nameplate of all visable interactive items in yellow txt.
Some players, like myself, use a VOIP program while in WvW; my PTT button is usually Ctrl; so you could see my issue with holding down control in the middle of WvW.
I would rather have the ability to toggle the labels for interactive items off and on so that way I would see ‘Bag of Loot’ on the other side of the fight and work my way towards it rather than standing around looking for it.
Where is this located?
I’m a staff Ele and I play quite well, hardly even summoning my elementals. I would rather not have permanent elemental summons since it would either nerf my damage or make the class incredibly OP. If anything, either adjust the timers or make them more durable…
I concur!
And I second the suggestion of equipping them.
Not to mention, the reknown quests stop when you get to Orr. Having some more ‘traditional’ quests that make you traverse the world would give players, of all levels, more to do without having to spend their ‘endgame’ in WvW all of the time.
And while you’re at it, mind communicating from places other than Reddit? Most people don’t use it. Try your own website, please, ArenaNet.
I second this post. I don’t use Reddit; I can’t stand how it’s formatted. It would be really nice to be able to find out everything that I will want to know on the official site rather than having to go hunt down the information elsewhere.
I wouldn’t mind having a semi-traditional questing system implemented either; it would give me something to do other than watching the borderlands map hoping that the POI I need opens up…
I’ve played PWI for just as long!
And I wasn’t discounting what you had said, my response was a mere generalization. I do agree though, I’d rather not see gear being sold in the cash shop…
In Arah story mode:
Me: “Hmm, I wonder…”
BF: “Are you dead dead or just downed?”
Me: “Dead dead”
BF: “WTF? How’d you die?”
Me: “I wanted to see what would happen if I jumped off of the ship.”
BF: “….”
Some random location with a high elevation:
Me: “That doesn’t look too far; I should be able to make it; I just have to reset my traits.”
BF: “Are you dead?”
Me: “Yep”
BF: “…”
Fighting some random mobs:
BF: “Are you dead?”
Me: “Yup”
BF: “What? How?”
Me: “Didn’t see the cliff here when I flipped over the mob.”
BF: “…”
(Insert jumping puzzle name here):
Me: “Just follow me.”
BF: “You’ve done this one already?”
Me: “Yup” (As I rolled off of a ledge and plummet to my death).
BF: “You didn’t mean to do that, did you?”
Me: “Nope…”
