Please don’t mention Perfect World, that is the worse pay to win example you can bring up. I agree with the costumes, I like them, but there’s no enough costumes, it would be awesome to be able to fight with our costumes on.

They weren’t using PWI as a pay to win example; they were using the variety of things that can be purchased from the cash shop to entice players to buy things from it. As it stands now, aside from the skins, everything that’s in the GW2 ‘cash shop’ can be obtained in game through various means; there is nothing currently in the shop that is all that enticing.

ranger longbow is 1500 (traited – 1200 without)
warr longbow is 1200 (900 without trait)
scorpion wire is 1200 (according to the wiki… so it wont be pulling anyone at max longbow range)
spectral grasp is 1200 (AND it chills <3… i love this skill in wvw, its massively useful for picking targets out of a zerg for a group of your side to focus down)
theif max range is 900… in wvw against zergs they need some sort of a gap closer; i dont see why this is an issue

I’m so glad that you pointed the 300 meter range difference. I was going to but you you did it a lot nicer than I would have done.

But I agree, I don’t see an issue with the range of Scorpion Wire; it doesn’t go any further than most other attacks of different professions. I will have to say, however, and this is coming from a thief, that I agree that the skill shouldn’t be able to pass through the terrain to grasp onto other players and pull them around like ragdolls.

Shattered & Hall of Monuments Achievements

Shattered Achievement

Currently in order to get the achievement related to the Shatterer, you’re suppose to free 5 people from the crystal prisons; well, there’s a problem with how this achievement works: Shatterer dies too quickly to get the crystals all in one trip and the destruction of crystal prisons is not cumulative. What I am saying is that it is near impossible to get all 5 crystal prisons broken in one round with the dragon since he dies far too fast. And with this, I propose three suggestions:

1. Increase the amount of HP of Shatterer so that he lives longer, thus creating more prisons.
2. Make the prison destruction cumulative so that it is possible to attain this achievement in more than one trip.
3. Increase the frequency in which he summons the crystal prisons.

Hall of Monuments Achievements

To begin, I must ask: are there any plans to implement the Hall of Monuments in Guild Wars 2? I ask because I do not think that it fair to incorporate a category of achievements related to an entirely different game; one of which, not every one in Guild Wars 2 has. The way that I view this is simple, Guild Wars 1 players were already rewarded with exclusive pets and other various prizes for the Hall of Monuments points; those rewards are unattainable by strictly Guild Wars 2 players, and I do not have a problem with that. I do however, have an issue with not being able to attain a whole category of achievements unless I go out and spend $60 dollars on a game that I don’t even want, simply to appease my OCD. So my request is that the Hall of Monuments achievement category be removed from the game if there are no plans to implement it in Guild Wars 2.

I don’t know, it’s called a personal story quest for a reason; I’d rather be able to complete the personal story without being forced into a group. If anything, I was rather annoyed that I had to be forced to make a group to finish my story quest; only to be disappointed at the end due to lack of difficulty.

I would rather see Anet change the leveling system all together; at the moment, it is way to easy level; leveling shouldn’t be as easy as it is in this game. It seems like everything gives experience: mining, gathering, chopping trees, crafting, discovering new areas, killing mobs, completing events, etc. You can go from 1 to 80 in less than a week; there is no reason why a player should be able to cap out their level in less than week from character creation…

I love how this is the answer of most people who just farm arah and rarely if ever move, while the people who want to enjoy the world are staunchly opposed to the idea of waypoint fees.

I also enjoy how ANet keeps saying they want people to leave arah.

I love how you assume that the only ones who share that viewpoint are farmers. I have that opinion as well and I have yet to even run a dungeon. Money is incredibly easy to make in this game; it’s not funny…

My boyfriend and I are looking for an active guild. We are semi-hardcore players, him more-so than I (due primarily to housework), and would like a guild that shares common interests. We have been gaming, with each other, for over 6 years. I have been a gamer for 20 years; he has done it for equally as long, if not longer. Your guild does not have to be extremely large, it just has to be active; we do not want to join a guild that resembles a cemetery at all hours of the day.

Please respond with a brief description of your guild and a link to your guild website.

Requirements:
- Active membership
- Preferably an 18+ crowd (we’re both adults and don’t want to feel like we’re in school)
- Participates in PvE and WvW (we’re indifferent to sPvP)
- Must have a VOIP server (vent preferably but will work with Mumble, TS, RC, etc.)
- Must understand that people have lives outside of the game

I live in Ohio, right off of Lake Eerie, and we’re feeling the effects of Sandy; not as bad as the East Coast, but they’re still a little nasty. But I just wanted to point out that people tend to handle stressful situations differently than others; it’s also easier to point out your own flaws when looking at other people. Yes, there may be some people requesting that the events be extended, but I highly doubt it’s because they care more about what happens in the game than they do their own well-being; I’m sure that they’re scared to death about what may happen and their way of handling that level of stress is to focus on something else. Some people tend to break under a lot of stress, others will handle it in stride, and then there are those who handle it well, as long as they have something available to distract them if the start becoming overwhelmed.

So stop giving people grief because it appears that they may care more about the game when, in fact, they’re just scared to death of what’s happening around them and they’re only looking for a distraction to make it more bearable. I’ve seen animals show more compas.sion towards one another than I have in this thread.

And yeah, I disagree with PvP in the PvE, but not because I’m casual and don’t want to deal with it. If they could find a way to effectively overlay WvWvW onto PvE areas without compromising the experience for PvE individuals then I’d be all over that. Their PvE event designs seem to be workable around such an idea. I just don’t know what it would take to accomplish that, so I don’t know how worthwhile it would be to pursue from an opportunity cost perspective.

That’s what the toggle that I had mentioned would be for; it would be a ‘switch’ to turn PvP mode on/off. The players who wanted strictly PvE would leave it off and never have to worry about anything; those who want a PvP twist to the open-world would leave it on and would have to remain constantly aware of their surroundings to make sure that some other player isn’t coming for them.

The really small repair fee is a tad too high when you’re in all exotics – namely, 6 silver a shot.

I’m in all exotics and I hardly ever have a 6 silver repair cost. The only way that you would have a repair bill that high is you let it go, damaged, for a while and only repair it when it gets broken.

GW2 Lacks Competition

Open-world PvP would add the individual competition that this game is lacking, without needing to go to WvWvW for the POSSIBILITY of finding it there. Players would have to be constantly alert of their surroundings for the possibility of being attacked by another player. Upon being defeated, a ‘you have been killed by (insert name) message would appear in the chat box. It would also push players to make sure that their gear is properly repaired and ’up to snuff’. There would be no zerg groups running around so the individual player would be able to get a better idea of how they match up gear and skill wise; sPvP does not grant this due to the PvP gear that you get outfitted in upon entering.

Malicious had commented on GvGvG, but I believe that this could be expanded upon.

Currently, large guilds tend to migrate from losing WvWvW servers to winning WvWvW servers, leaving their old servers to suffer in WvWvW. GvGvG would add a new dynamic to GW2 that would, hopefully, lead to keeping guilds from migrating while adding more competition to the game.

GvGvG would entail guilds to bid on territories in Tyria to ‘conquer’ and defend. Bidding for territories would begin, for example, on Monday and close on Wednesday. That would give guilds 48 hours to place their bids on places like Bloodtide Coast and Sparkfly Fen. The winning bids would be announced on Wednesday, after the bids have been closed. The winning guilds would then have 48 hours to organize their ‘troops’ to build their offensive/defensive. The territories would be tiered; tier 3 would be the easiest, tier 2 would have a medium difficulty, and tier 1 would be the hardest to capture. If the territory is not already held by a guild, all attacking players would be auto-leveled to 80 and would have to clear the territory of all mobs and a main champion mob before being able to claim the territory. The level scaling would not be applicable if the battle is between guilds. Before being able to bid on a tier 1 territory, a guild must own one tier 2 and two tier 3 territories; one of which must be touching the tier 1 land. The tier 1 lands would be Divinity’s Reach, The Grove, Rata Sum, Black Citadel, and Hoelbrak. A guild will not have an attack and defense on the same day.

When/if guild bases are implemented, then the base wars would take place of the territory wars; whatever happens, happens; I’m not advocating for both. But as it stands now, the game is lacking viable competition. When you’re low level, your goal is to hit 80. But, once you get there, there is little left for you to work towards. I am aware that implementing any of the above would open the door for drama and griefers, but the lack of competition has the potential to do more harm than the occasional ‘that person stole my iron’ spiel.

For those of you who like to just read the title and post things along the lines of ‘you just don’t know etc.’ or ‘you haven’t done etc.‘, stop now while you’re ahead; this game has a serious lack of competition.

I am aware of the keg brawl PvP activity. And while it is fun, it still isn’t very competitive.

I am aware of the Halloween PvP activity. And even though it is fairly more competitive than the keg brawl, once the sides get too lopsided, the competitiveness goes out of the window.

I am aware of sPvP. I’ve tried it and I’m not overly impressed by it.

I am too aware WvWvW. But there is almost no competition in zerg vs. zerg vs. zerg.

This game, in general, lacks competition. Arenanet, with the best of intentions, seemingly designed the game to cater to solo players (not including dungeons). Aside from dungeons requiring parties, there is nothing in the game that cannot be done as a solo player. GW2 is not a MMORPG; it is a MSPORPG (Massive Single Player Online Role-Playing Game). There is no:

- “I have to get to that node before they do” mentality
- “I have to get better gear so they can’t roll me anymore” mentality
- Drive to work on better gear (at the moment it’s so casual it’s not funny)
- Necessity to continuously improve play style
- Need to join a guild
- Need to do a lot of damage to get credit for a kill (yay for taggers!)

But to top it off, there really are no ‘open-world’ goals to work towards. Yes there are achievements, but those are for vanity purposes and offer nothing for the player. Besides, completionists who have never played GW1, like me, will never be able to complete all of the achievements because of the ‘Hall of Monuments’ category. Why even bother trying to gain all of the achievements if I will not be able to complete that category without actually buying GW1? In my opinion, having the ’Hall of Monuments’ category is redundant.

But to get back on topic, Malicious.6742 said it best when they stated:

That WvWvW is supposed to be the actual end game content but it is neither competetive nor motivating at all. Wow, there are even people who PvE there just because WvWvW has PvE elements. And that it is hard to effectively organize attacks.

I cannot begin to emphasize enough on how much I would love to have a PvP server, or at least the option to engage in open-world PvP (a toggle). I think that one of the biggest reasons that WvW is so popular is because it resembles open-world PvP, something that a lot of players are interested in, and apparently miss. But, like Malicious said, there really isnt’ a way to be victorious in WvW; everyone shows up as X Server Invader and the only thing that you have to show for it is silly PvE buffs. Also, with all of the zerg groups running around, there is no way of knowing how much, if any, of a contribution that you put in.

Malicious also goes on to state that guilds bring almost no real benefits to players. They’re not needed to PvE, PvP, or WvW either.

This goes back to my previous statement about there not being a need to join a guild. What does a guild have to offer the average player? Banners, if there’s anything else, please say so, constructively. And even then, there is so much work that should be done to the guild system that it’s not funny; it’s that lack of content that is preventing me from wanting to join a guild. There has been numerous management suggestions made that would improve managing a guild. Also, I am not particularly fond of how a player can join multiple guilds; a player should be limited to one guild per character.

But the big question that really has me going WTF??? is why title the game GUILD WARS 2 when there are, in fact, NO guild wars? As previously stated, guilds don’t really have anything to offer the average player to begin with. Going purely on how the game is, at the moment, a more appropriate title for it would be ‘World Wars’ or ‘Server Wars’, since that, in essence, is what it is.

I sincerely believe that GvG and open-world PvP would add whole new dynamics to the game that would have the potentials to increase the player-base.

Would it be plausible to implement some sort of filter to prevent gaining boons from NPCs and other players? The filter would be toggled, of course, but it would also prevent random swiftness boons that usually end up sling shotting you way past your landing point. I cannot begin to count how many times I would be attempting a jump and end up missing it because another player came along and cast a swiftness boon.

Also, can you make the clock tower a single/party instance rather than a shared dungeon? As an Asura, it’s already hard to see around larger races, and with the time restraints on the clock tower, not being able to see what’s in front of me makes it impossible to complete.

Make All Pets Immune To A.O.E Please

Maybe pets just don’t have enough hit points period. It seems to me the main purposes of having the pet are to be a distraction and to inflict conditions on the enemy. I have a Beastmaster build so short of being mobbed by a bunch of creatures for pulling them off me as a race through an area to get to a vista or while I am gathering resources, it tends not to die very often.
But, if others are finding that their pets are just outright useless glass objects, perhaps this should be accounted for. It just seems to me that if the AOE is so deadly that the pet doesn’t last for more than a couple seconds, wouldn’t it kill you nearly as quickly?

Wouldn’t it make more sense then to increase the amount of HP that pets have rather than just making them immune? But, not to increase them by an amount that would give the player an advantage.

Make All Pets Immune To A.O.E Please

in Suggestions

Posted by: asperbianca.3196

asperbianca.3196

My boyfriend plays as a ranger and his pets, and like MeSako, his pets rarely die. The thing with necromancers, their “pets” aren’t really pets; they’re summons. They’re minions that were conjured up by the dark arts to due their master’s bidding; same as the elementalists elementals and the summoned weapons. Making “pets” immune to AoE damage is asinine. especially when there are several players who wouldn’t think about taking out the ‘controller’ but would focus on the ‘pets’ instead. Don’t forget the elementalists, like myself, who does splash damage with every hit because they use a staff. Since the splash damage has the potential to hit multiple targets, would you consider that an AoE attack as well? If that’s the case, than a staff elementalist would never be able to do any damage to minions or pets alike.

The point is, you are making this request based on experiences in other games. The reality is that this game is not those other games; just because it works there, it doesn’t mean that it will work here. But sitting here and sounding like ‘the all knowing’ isn’t going to help validate your point very well either. Instead of saying “so and so does it” try providing examples and concrete support for the idea; looking down on others is only going to make the audience less willing to listen.

I suppose I should have been a little clearer when I had mentioned pets that I was referring to mini pets since every class can use them.

I also understand that adding a difficulty toggle to the game would be difficult; I wasn’t meaning to imply that I thought it was easy. Nor was I saying that group content isn’t acceptable. This game is full of things that can be done either solo or in a group; dungeons are the only feature that requires a party to complete. There is also a very diverse player community that plays this game; there are people who like to solo, PvP, PvE, PvX, partiers, crafters, philanthropists, and so on. The game, in general, caters to practically every group, except for those who like to solo things. I have also noticed, not saying you specifically Seven, that when those solo players speak up and request that something be done to the game to make it more solo-friendly, they’re told, basically, to shut up and deal with it. The community of the game, in general, is rather closed-minded and unwilling to accept change(s) that vary from the original Guild Wars or World of Warcraft models; when those suggestions are made, the proposer is typically given a rather cold, and some times, rude response.

I also wasn’t expecting that the duel skill system be implemented over night. The game is relatively new and implementing too many major changes can be drastically detrimental to the game. It is a suggestion to be kept in mind for a later date.

To be honest, about the skill bar suggestion, if I had it my way, I’d have all of the skill equipped so I could use them whenever I wanted. The suggestion was made as a means to increase survival when situations take a turn for the worse rather than getting WTFBBQPWNED when an event spawns right on top of you.

I will now edit my post to reflect that I had meant mini-pets and not ranger pets.

Cont…

Incorporate a Duel Skill System

1. Make it to where each skill would have a slightly different effect in PvE versus PvP.

Example:

*Skill A (PvE) does 300 damage and cripples target for 6 seconds
*Skill A (PvP) does 250 damage and cripples target for 4 seconds

This would prevent anymore skills from getting nerfed due to being ‘too powerful’. This could also, potentially, make it less tedious for some players to participate in PvP because they would not have to re-spec their traits/gear as often.

Incorporate a ‘Save Trait Build’ feature:

1. Allow players to save one to two trait builds that can be accessed via the Profession Trainer.
2. To save a trait build, the player would be charged (x) amount of coin for the first save; the second save would require a fee (y) amount of coin. The fee would be adjusted according to the level of the player; the second save would be (x) percentage higher than the first. Any save after the second would cost the same amount as the second save did.
3. Saving a new trait build, after the existing save slots have been used, would overwrite an existing save. The player would be asked which save they wished to overwrite.

Allowing players to do so would allow them to quickly access various trait builds without needing to reset their trait points to fulfill different roles. This would be helpful to players who participate in WvW, sPvP, and for those who perform different roles in parties.

Incorporate a Rotating Skill Bar for Keys 6 to 0:

1. Would work in the same manner as weapon swapping for the 1 through 5 keys, including a similar cool down to swap skill bars.
2. Would allow players to adjust their utilities, in real time, with the environment.
3. Would only include a secondary skill bar to swap to.
4. Could not be used in WvW and sPvP.

This feature would allow another layer of customization to players. To help avoid exploitation, the cool down to swap utility bars could be slightly higher than that of weapon swapping. This feature would also allow players to set one utility bar for one purpose and the second for another.

There have been numerous times, mid-battle, when I have wished that I had set my utility bar to be more defensive rather than the general offensive set-up that I normally use. I am aware that incorporating this would chance the dynamics of combat; however, I believe that it will help to put more coin into the pockets of the players by lowering the amount of repair bills acquired because of being unable to change stances mid-battle.

Implement Dungeon Finder

I am well aware that this has been mentioned numerous times before but I have yet to see a suggestion that would work effectively. So I suggest implementing one that is similar to either the dungeon finder in Dragon Nest or the one in Forsaken World; I do apologize if a similar suggestion has already been made.

Dragon Nest Example:

Players A, B, and C form a party for Y dungeon and add a post, to a bulletin, requesting more members. The party leader can request, in the description, a specific class/build to fill the spot(s). Players D and E join the party; the leader can either approve the addition or remove the new players and wait for ones who fit the supplied description.

Forsaken World Example:

Players A, B, C, D and E all sign up for a queue system, indicating that they are looking for a party for Y dungeon. The queue system sends a small pop up window to the players indicating that it has found them a party for Y dungeon. The player can either approve or deny the invitation. If approved, the player is placed in a party with the other players that requested the same dungeon. If denied, the queue system will continue to look for players until the party has been filled. Once the party is full, the queue system will teleport the players to the entrance of the dungeon.

Both systems would allow the individual party members to continue doing their individual tasks while looking for a party for dungeon Y. There would be no more loitering around various maps, spamming map chat, looking for a party for dungeon Y.

[Suggestions] User Interface and General Functionality of Game Features

Provide Options to Hide, Individually:
1. Chat box
2. Mini-map
3. Quest list
4. Party window (even the little head that’s there when not in a party)
5. Skill/utility bar

This is for those players who like to run with immersion. I am well aware that you can hide the entire interface, but there have been times where I wanted to hide just one thing and not have to lose everything else. The party ‘head’, for example, annoys me, to no end, sitting there when I am not in a party.

Improve Party List:

1. Indicate party leader in party list.
2. Show avatars of party members even if they are not in the same area.
3. Indicate health and conditions of party members, even if they are not in the same area.

This would allow party members to better assist their squad-mates, if need be, without having to be in the same region. For example: Member A has to go to Lion’s Arch and Player B chooses to stay in Sparkfly Fen. While Member A is in Lion’s Arch, Player B becomes a little overwhelmed with enemies; Member A notices the fluctuations of conditions and health of Player B and rushes to their aid, dropping what they were doing in Lion’s Arch.

Mini Pets:

1. Allow players to name their mini pets.
2. Allow players to manage mini pets in a manner similar to a ranger’s pets.
3. Allow players to change out their mini pets without having to carry them in their inventory.
4. Allow players to identify a key-bind to summon/de-summon their mini pets.
5. Allow mini-pets, not summons, to retrieve loot when the player is downed, but not when defeated.

Managing mini pets in a similar manner to how a ranger would manage theirs would allow the player to have access to all of their mini pets, at all times, without needing to carry them around. They would still be placed in the collection tab of the bank but could be accessed, anywhere, with a key-bind.

These features would allow for more player customization.

I say pets, and not summons, simply because a summon is nothing more than a spell used to conjure a spectral being. A spell, going based on lore (not GW lore), is no longer in effect when the caster is dead. When down, the caster would be too weak to be able to support the manifestation of the summon; not to mention the fact that they would be too focused on reviving themselves to do much of anything else. I was contemplating suggesting that this work for defeated players as well but decided not to on the grounds that the player is defeated, they can do nothing more than go back to town.

Add a Difficulty Toggle to Dungeons:

1. Difficulty of dungeons can be adjusted to the number of players inside of the instance:

A). Low – 1 to 2 players
B). Medium – 3 to 4 players
C). High – 5+ players (just in case they choose to increase the party size)

I have run across several players, myself included, who like to spend a portion of their time doing things alone, with the option of talking to, and including, other people. I believe that it is reasonable to allow ‘solo players’ to play the game without being limited to what they can, or cannot, do because of game design. I am not advocating that the dungeons be re-worked into cake walks; an adjustment method would be sufficient. Also, in an attempt to prevent exploitation, the following measure(s) can be taken:

1. The difficulty of the dungeon would self adjust according to the members inside of the instance. Meaning: if the dungeon is opened on ‘high’, and one player leaves, the difficulty would re-adjust to ‘medium’ to accommodate the smaller party size; this would work vice-versa as well.
2. Difficulty toggle would only be applicable to story mode.

Suggestion to remove repair bill for WvW pls

Alternatively, there could be durability in items.
A level 0 basic item would have just 2 durability, while a level 80 basic item would have 82.
A legendary level 80 item would have 250 durability.
When defeated by a monsters, you’ll lose durability based on the level of the enemy that dealtthe finishing blow.
When defeated by a player, only 1.
This would keep the cost, but greatly decrease it when defeated by players, while keeping it when defeated by monsters in WvW.

This has to be, by far, one of the best suggestions I have seen made thus far. I support the idea of having a repair bill for participating in WvW; it’s asinine to expect fighting to be free. However, I will agree that the price can, sometimes, be a bit too high. I’m not going to be one of those ‘you just need to learn how to make money’ players, but I will admit that I usually end up leaving WvW with more money than I started out with, and that is after participating in the ‘raids’ and PvP content, as well as paying for repairs.

Level 80 not for a loner

@ Vasyl and Kasei:

As far as I am aware, Guild Wars 2 was designed for players of all types; at least I believe that that was said at some point while the game was still in development. This would be inclusive of solo players as well. While I agree that world event bosses, and possibly even ‘end game’ champions, should not be solo-able, I will go on to state that dungeons should have a difficulty toggle of some sort so that players who wish to solo, everything, can do so. Even though I have come to terms that I am being forced to find a group to finish my story quest, I do not agree with that fact; it has been just my boyfriend and I the entire length of the story, thus far, and I would like it to be just me and him upon completion as well.

It doesn’t bother me, personally. Honestly, I would rather be allowed to cancel channeling so I can quickly change skills if needed.

Make gear on female Asura more feminine

I would agree with you Luminos if it weren’t for the fact that I have seen some male armor skins, for the Asura, that look a bit more feminine than the female ones. But you’re right, if it’s cultural than it should not be changed. Either way, I spent an obscene amount of time making my Asura as feminine looking as she is currently; game design has not bearing on my desire of making her outward appearance even more so.

I would rather be able to sort my 1-5 skills however I want to. There’s nothing wrong with the method of unlocking skills in my opinion; I just like to organize my skill bars according to functionality.

Need a new Light Armor skin! Current one is bad!

I have to agree; the skin for light armor is simply horrible. I cannot picture using it on any of my characters. But then again, I also think there should be more ‘feminine’ choices as well; the ones currently in the shop are too masculine for my taste.

Would be great way support Anet paying 20€ for instant max lvl.
Ofc there would be a require for 100% world in account before can buy instant max lvl…

World completion isn’t account-wide; it’s character specific. So going based on your logic here, assuming I’m understanding you correctly, by the time you get 100% world completion, you should have already been level 80 for quite some time. Nonetheless, a ‘max level’ potion would most certainly run the game into the ground; I say no thank you.

Level 80 not for a loner

I like to do a lot on my own, or in small groups. as well. My boyfriend and I are on the last stage of the story quest and we can’t finish it without getting a group of people to help us with it; I feel that we should be able to finish it without needing the extra help.

Basically what I’m saying is the game should be more loner friendly. The dungeons should scale, in difficulty, according to the number of players in it. I hate the fact that I am required to get a group of people to take me through a dungeon, especially for the story quest, when I would rather do it on my own or with one or two other people.
