"Toymaker" titles?

They’re going to have to bring new toys for us to make. The ones from last year are available in the gem shop, so the toymaker title would be irrelevant this year unless we got new ones.

No waypoints is glorious!

asperbianca.3196

I believe that in the case of waypoints, less is more.
In the original Guild Wars you were able to map travel to towns and outposts, never specific areas on the map.

Sometimes you had to even travel across an entire zone before you could make it to the zone where you were headed, and then make it to your destination.

Maps like The Falls are a good example of this.

Even if you made it to the falls by crossing a few other areas first, there was only one resurrection shrine right at the entrance to the zone….. so after you traveled 20 minutes or so into the zone, if you died you were sent all the way back to the beginning of the area.

It adds a sense of exploration.
A desire to fight and stay alive.

Players should be traveling/playing the game a little more instead of waypointing everywhere they want to go.

The only problem with implementing this now is that removing waypoints will no-doubt receive backlash from the community.

Maybe in the future we will see “resurrection points” instead of waypoints on newer maps.

They would essentially be waypoints that only work when you are dead and already on that particular map.

Anyway…. I like the lack of waypoints.

Good decision.

Who are you to tell us what we should do? I rather prefer waypointing everywhere, it’s more time efficient. After exploring the entire world map, on three characters, to 100%, I don’t want to have to run everywhere anymore.

Excited for Halloween!

Being someone who was here since beta, I’m a bit nostalgic when it comes to holiday celebrations. When we get together with family, for example, we usually practice the same traditions: egg hunts for Easter, the topping of the tree for Christmas, the carving of the Jack-o-lantern for Halloween. There is nothing wrong with wanting to build the same kind of environment in the game, it helps to build a sense of community and togetherness. Yes, the events of 2012 had their problems, but that’s not a justifiable reason to bar them from ever returning. I’m pretty sure that family get togethers aren’t always peaceful either, now are they?

Make GW2 free to play

I already play one one F2P game, I’d rather GW2 stay the way it is. The F2P game that I play is so out of balance, when you compare the cash shoppers to the free players, that it’s not funny. The free players are nothing but cannon fodder and it’s really hard to for the company attract new players to the game with how messed up the in game economy is; everything is ran by the cash shoppers. Personally, I have put over two grand into that game and that pales in comparison to what other players have invested in it.

I have since stopped putting money into games where the player can buy the upper hand. It’s no fun when you cheat to get to the top.

I don’t think that the main map should have the ability to display guild member locations; the mini map is a more plausible option.

In my opinion, the mini map should display (within a certain range):
- Resource nodes
- Friends
- Guild mates
- Target location
- Commander tags
- Party members

Now, the dots used to indicate the locations of players should be reduced to 50% to 75% of the current size. Party members, downed/fallen allies and commander tags should be the only player icons visible on the world map.

The only place where server members should show up on the mini map should be WvW; I don’t see how it would be beneficial to have those dots on the mini map anywhere else,

Remove transmutation gems from store.

This is far more about how we were told there’d be no gear treadmill, and that the endgame was cosmetics.

This spits in the eye of both of those claims.

kitten many others have stated, there isn’t a gear treadmill in this game. The only gear you would need to work for is ascended and legendary, but when you’ve got it, you’re done; there is no more work to be done. The gear in this game cannot be refined, or improved, in any way aside from changing sigils/runes.

And endgame, is really just cosmetics. As with any other custom item, you are required to pay a fee for the customization. So, for instance, you have a Berserker’s Pearl Quarterstaff (which I think is hideous) but you want it to look like the Final Rest, you should be required to pay the needed fee for your staff to have the same appearance of the Final Rest, while keeping its stats.

I don’t agree with taking the transmutation items out of the gem store, especially knowing that the only reason gems are so high right now is largely due to a steady stream of sales. If I had the ability to change anything about the transmutation items is that I would my the Transmutation Crystals a little cheaper, and I do mean a little but only because you can’t get them from doing world completion, dailies, or completing your personal story quest.

I know that Rata Sum will be getting the Super Adventure Box back next month, but the cities still need a bit more; they’re a bit lack lustre for capital cities.

I have played a staff ele since beta. It doesn’t have the same mobility or survivability as a D/D bunker ele, but I have enjoyed it nonetheless. My ele can hit just as hard as a zerker warrior (I have compared gear and stats to several zerker warriors in my guild) and the only thing that they might have up on me is hitpoints, everything else is on the same line. But as far as healing goings, in every MMO that I have played, if you wanted to be able heal better, you have always had to sacrifice something somewhere else.

Badges of Honor from achievements chests?!

in Suggestions

Posted by: asperbianca.3196

asperbianca.3196

I understand that the chests are retroactive, but I don’t think that a scrict PvE player, who has never entered WvW, should be given the badges that they never would have obtained to begin with.

I don’t have a problem with the crafting of a legendary requiring a strict WvW player to go out of their way to acquire the necessary items to craft said legendary. I do, however, have a slight issue with making the Gifts of Battle effortless for the strict PvE player.

The Badges of Honor were intended as rewards for WvW, not achievement points. If the argument that the Badges are being given as rewards for achievement points, then why not give the dungeon tokens as rewards for achievements as well? Why not make the gifts that require those tokens as easily accessible as the Gifts of Battle are?

I would not be opposed to having PvP/WvW only legendary weapons implemented, but I am opposed to the idea of having the Gifts of Battle practically handed out to those who have done little to nothing to earn them.

Badges of Honor from achievements chests?!

in Suggestions

Posted by: asperbianca.3196

asperbianca.3196

Here’s my opinion on the Badges of Honor being given in the achievement chests…

I’m not happy about the strict PvE players being able to accumulate the number of badges required for a Gift of Battle in just a couple of days, and here’s why:

If a strict WvW player decides they want a legendary, they are forced to complete the entire world map for the Gift of Exploration, forcing them out of the way that they would like to play the game. More specifically, if said player decides that they want Kudzu, then they are forced to farm 500 Deadly Blooms from Twilight Arbor to get the Gift of Thorns. So, the strict WvW player is forced to complete not one, but two, daunting tasks just to get the legendary weapon Kudzu. The PvE player, no longer has to be taken out of their element to get that legendary, all they have to do is log in…

Now, I can understand the arguments saying that giving the Badges of Honor in the achievement chests will help to keep PvE players out of WvW, but I look at the Badges as rewards for participating in WvW, just like the tokens are rewards for participating in dungeons.

Help With Build Please

in Thief

asperbianca.3196

I would like to start playing my thief a bit more, but I feel like I would need to retrait/regear her and have absolutely no idea where to go. I would like her to have decent condition damage and be, at least a little, beneficial to the zerg while with it.

This is the link to what I have going right now: Click Here.

I was thinking about moving over to carrion gear and using undead runes, but from there, I am lost. I love using D/D or P/P and swap out for a short bow when needed, but every build I have been able to find has been D/P or S/D or S/P and I can’t stand those combinations.

So, any help I can get that wouldn’t require me to completely relearn the thief, would be very much appreciated.

I don't like Town Clothing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

asperbianca.3196

I would be more inclined to buy town clothes if:

- I could choose to display them in combat
- There were more options to choose from
- It didn’t take inventory space to store unused town clothing

At the moment, there is nothing in the gem store that I would wear over my armor on my Asura, including the armor skin; it’s all too masculine looking. The best thing that I have seen in the gem store, as far as town clothing is concerned, is the dress that was released for Wintersday, unfortunately, I didn’t have the money to buy it at the time. But, as previously stated in the thread, there are a lot of pieces of clothing that I see the NPC townspeople wearing that I would love to have and would absolutely die to be able to visit an NPC in game and buy some.
