A word to the wise, anything above 85db can cause serious damage to your ears.

It is a better performing card, especially once you consider the performance/dollar. I’ll edit my first list to reflect this.
I was actually going to suggest a GTX980, but it might be way out of his budget.

Go with Beefjus’s but get a 390 instead of a 970. It’s a better card and will cost less.
Or, if you’re only really going to play GW2, get a 380(x). A 390 is far above what you need to run GW2 on ultra/1080P
I would have suggested a 380x cause it’s a 1080p monster, but I didn’t want the OP to suffer on nvidia optimised games like Witcher 3, etc…

Hi, I’ve recently upgraded my CPU cooler from a CM Vortex Plus to an EVO 212, and for some reason, I’m getting MUCH lower framerates as compared to before (in GW2 ONLY. Witcher 3 still runs at 60FPS). I’m, pretty sure that I installed the cooler properly, since I’m getting cooler temps, but I’m not sure what’s causing the low framerate. I used to get anywhere from 30-60fps in-game, and now I’m getting 15-30fps… What gives?

I’ve scheduled an upgrade some time in April 2016; tired of my FX8350 bottlenecking my GPU.

I came in here expecting an unreasonable change, but a 5% reduction to max HP wouldn’t be too bad. At least on SCAR lane.
I run chak gerent regularly. Sometimes the lane I command succeeds. Sometimes the event succeeds. But each failure is on the margin: you’d be amazed how frequent it is that it requires one more nodule to emerge the gerent, or how SCAR lane needed 1% more damage. Those are the only two parts that fail.
The words “organized” are nigh meaningless. The only thing they imply is that someone has been trying to taxi others in for awhile. The hardest part about the event is getting everybody on the same page. If you do that,, I’m fairly confident the event will succeed. But boy is that hard. The average pug is insufferable in the strangest of ways:
1)They’ll only taxi in 5 minutes before the event begins then go AFK
2) They’ll refuse to listen to explanations then complain that they don’t know what to do.
3)They’ll fight you on the strategy and purposefully CC the boss because “it makes them vulnerable”.
4)They’ll run around in circles because they aren’t sure what their squad is supposed to do, no matter how much you explain.
5)They’ll join the event in masterwork gear and no masteries.
…………………………………….
Thanks man. I needed a good laugh. Hahahah!

@OP- ‘hate to break it to you, but once ANet has your money or gems, they don’t really care about you anymore. I had an “incident” a few years ago, and although I’ve forgiven ANet, I have not forgotten what they did to me. Yet I still play the game and buy gems once in a while, like the good addict that I am.

Issue 1: no need to plug in the USB3 headers, since there are already USB ports in the rear IO.
Issue 2: The CM HAF 912’s drive cages can be removed.
I decided to go with the new socket so that you have more headroom in the future.

I wouldn’t mind it so much if it took full advantage of my FX8350’s 8 cores…but no…it doesn’t.
EDIT: If there is a way for the game to take advantage of all 8 cores, please tell me.
There isn’t. The game engine only has two major threads and a handful of minor threads. What hurts the FX series (well anything that uses the Bulldozer architecture) is your per core performance isn’t all that great.
Which is why I’m switching to an i5 6600k next year. My FX 8350 has served me well for the past four and a half years, but it’s almost time for an upgrade. It won’t go to waste though, cause I’ll be using it for a Steam Machine build.

Things to consider:
- GW2 is not optimised for SLI/Crossfire play
- GW2 is CPU heavy, not GPU heavy
Try the following (not guaranteeing results, but it’s something):
- try using your old monitor to see if the problem persists. this is to rule out your monitor as a potential source for the problem.
- see if only using one card will make the problem go away. this is to rule out SLI as the source of your problem.
- see if your CPU is overheating
- play with the resolution and graphic settings.
- clean your memory; if that doesn’t work, clean the whole PC (especially your RAM)

If I were to pick three races that would fit in with the theme and direction of GW2
1. Skritt- Great for a Primordus centric expansion. They can dig deeper into Skritt and Asuran lore. This would also allow them to just reuse old maps and add levels underneath them. Gives us the possibility of new elite specialisations that heavily emphasise on single-target effects, while adding destructible terrain and environments (discourages needless AoE).
2. Kodan- Great for a Jormag centric expansion. They can expound on Kodan and Norn lore, while re-purposing old and uninhabited snowy areas. This could give rise to mobile eliete specialisations that rely on frequent movement for both damage and survival (staying in one place might cause the snow to become unstable, while moving frequently would get rid of a constant chill-like debuff for certain encounters)
3. Largos- Great for the unnamed deep-sea elder dragon, if they give it an expansion. We’ll get to know even more about the elusive Largos, and it will be a great way for ANet to give underwater combat the revamp it needs. This also opens a huge opportunity for new elite specialisations that specialise in underwater combat.
Those three races shouldn’t pose such a big problem with regards to cropping and re-sizing of armor and weapon pieces, so they’re pretty feasible.
Should they decide to bring back the dead…
4. Ogre- They would be a great addition, should they decide to bring Kralkatorrik back. This would also be a great time for Glint’s egg to hatch, creating a possibility for the Exalted to join the fray as a new viable PC, but the gear would be a huge issue to work around. This would be great for adding “tankier” elite specialisations that enable players to take advantage of soaking damage, forming crystals that can be used to buff their output or throughput.
5. Tengu- Having Zhaitan come back to cause a second “Great Tsunami” that would break their version of The Great Wall of China would force them into the fold. This would be great for the addition of aerial combat, with new elite specialisations that emphasise on that (like gliders, but this time we can do stuff while flying)

My ping was fine ever since the Megaserver launch, but it all changed when the Plant Nation attacked. Ever since HoT launch, I’ve been getting lots of lag spikes here and there (causing lots of avoidable deaths/downs and a host of missed jumps), and 7 out ov every 10 alt+tabs causes my game to crash. What gives, anet?
Note: I did a fresh install of GW2 when HoT came out.

I’m all about the look on the characters on gw2 :P And as norn i am to masculine even as female

Keep in mind that a single, more powerful card is better than two lesser cards in SLI/Crossfire.
- a single GTX 980Ti is cheaper than SLI 970’s.
- a single card will run into less compatibility issues with games that are not optimised for multi-GPU play.
- should your single card not cut it in two years time, you can always get another one and run it in SLI.
On a side note, don’t get a 960. It may be the current “it” value card, but value cards are easily replaced once a new generation comes out. If you truly want your money’s worth, get the single 980.

Wanna roll your face on your keyboard and still do good dps in PvE? Roll a Revenant. Full ’zerker gear, pop unrelenting assault in shiro, sword auto attack to win.
This is not how you play revenant. Every decent rev knows that using UA means they’ll be losing DPS, which is not something you want, especially in raids.
To the topic, every boss is different. While on VG you can be fine with reaper tank, on Gorseval you might want your druid to tank and on Sabetha you don’t need it at all. That’s the same with dps classes. For example ele is pretty bad on VG but very good on the next two bosses. DPS classes that are suitable for most encounters: revenant, viper engi, ps warrior…
Relax man, I was overly simplifying it to show emphasis. Haha! Any good Revenant knows that simply auto attacking and using UA will result in a DPS loss.

Just my 2c. The ascended requirement wouldn’t have been so bad if there was an actual viable way to earn them outside of sinking gold into them. WoW may have been filled with elitist snobs due to the nature of in-game progression, but what they did perfectly was gear progression (at least back in Burning Crusade). It was quest reward gear>dungeon gear>heroic dungeon gear>entry level raid gear>tier set gear found in harder raids. But what do we have in GW2? We’re forced into sinking gold into crafting professions to make the best gear that can be attained. We can’t even pay someone to do the crafting for us, we’re forced to learn a crafting profession, level it, then spend even more money to craft what we need (if we want the best possible gear). It’s like traveling from one point to another, but all roads eventually lead to the same expensive toll gate.
But even with all that said, I’ve pretty much resigned to the fact that there’s no way around it…so here I am, spending my weekends trying to farm the mats and gold necessary to make:
2 swords
1 hammer
1 mace
1 axe
1 shield
At this rate, I’m probably gonna get my ascened weapons by xmas 2016.

I’m not a great player, but I am pretty lazy (and that gives me the desire to streamline things), so I bind everything in a grid from F1-F4 and all the keys beneath them. All the mouse does is steer and click stuff in my inventory/journal/auto run. My PTT button is my left control button, which I’ve inverted, so that it fits the curvature of my palm.
WASDQE- Movement
1-5: Weapon Skills 1-5
`: Weapon Swap
F1-F4: Profession Skills
Alt+Q: Utility 1
Alt+W: Utility 2
Alt+E: Utility 3
Alt+A: Profession skill that would normally be F5
Alt+S: Heal
Alt+D: Eliete skill
C: Hero panel
V: Inventory
R: Reply/Tell
Middle Mouse: Auto Run
Ctrl: PTT button
Shift: Dodge

What condi builds are you using may i ask? I havent really touched War except for getting his elite spec hero points done in the first week.
Not sure about PvP, but here’s the meta raid condi build:

As far as my HoT experience goes:
Guardian: Has really good burst dps, but deals mediocre sustained dps. Your damage gets better in fights that don’t involve a whole lot of movement/ against targets with large hitboxes. Lowest base health, highest base tougness. This class is my all-time favourite class in terms of playstyle and class flavour.
Warrior: Has really good condition damage, but not as good as an Engineer. It’s power damage isn’t the same as it was back in vanilla, but it still deals competent power damage. Highest base health.
Revenant: Has really good sustained and burst power damage with a pretty boring “rotation”. Revenants have really good boon support through the Herald Elite Specialisation. Less health than a Warrior, less toughness than a Guardian, but definitely has way more dps than either.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
To be fair, Mal isn’t a bad dps replacement over Glint. In fact, it’s better for short fights that involve lots of movement.

I’ve got one:
I decided to run AC to get a feel for the game again, after a year long hiatus. The group I got in did fine on trash, but kept on dying to the spider boss. Why? Because they didn’t want to kill the graveling mound, and they kept on going in and attacking the spider one at a time, which resulted in multiple wipes. I finally convince them to kill the graveling mound after three excruciating wipes, but they still kept on going to the spider boss one at a time. I’d finally had it during the 5th inevitable wipe, and said “just wipe it, there’s no way a scepter guard can solo that boss faster than we can clear as a full group”, then I was kicked. I was kicked for being a the lone voice of reason in a group filled with people who couldn’t put two and two together.

@Fermi- Someone gives me a sarcastic comment, I give one right back. I was asking people how they managed their finances in game, and I was told to just never spend.
re: using IRL money on IGN currency- Yeah, I could not press my escape button any faster than when I saw the exchange rate…those prices are nuts! Besides, I really don’t want to resort to “pay to win” options.
re: not worrying about income and just playing- I’m currently trying to work towards an ascended weapon, with my very tight schedule (I get home at 9pm every night, and wake up at 5am for work, so I only play a few hours during the weekend), and it’s proving to be an exercise in madness. Coming from a WoW raiding background, I find it hard to let people simply carry me in raids; it weighs on my conscience and pride. So I haven’t even set foot in the raid, cause I don’t want to be a burden on anyone…but I’m also afraid that by the time I finally earn my ascended weapon, the raid will be yesterday’s news, and I won’t be able to find an organised group that wants to do it anymore.

@Joey- I’m in the Philippines right now. Tell her that PLDT is the safest bet in terms of ISPs, and to get FIbr if she can (it costs around 2900php or $60 per month for up to 50mbps). 3mbps is the bare min she needs, cause NONE of the ISPs in the Philippines use PACNET, and they all rent their bandwidth from PLDT, resulting in all traffic being rerouted to PLDT lines, before being rerouted to China, then to the US.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
