I get where you’re coming from OP. But sadly, it all boils down to what class mechanics you end up liking the most. Because while an Engineer can arguably be deemed as the most useful class to have in a group, it still boils down to player skill and playstyle.
For example, I have an Engineer that I enjoy playing once in a while, but I do not enjoy playing it for a long time, cause I find the constant kit switching and ground targeting tiring. I do, however, absolutely enjoy playing my Guardian, no matter what spec I run…sadly, it’s not the most efficient DPS class I can offer my guild, and that’s why I currently main a Revenant. While his playstyle is basically a hodge-podge of Warrior/Guardian/Thief, I still find the class both useful and fun to play.
With that said, I strongly suggest trying each class out to find your niche. Remember that you’re playing the game because you want to have fun, regardless of what some toxic folks may tell you.
PS: I’d suggest trying a Guardian out though…Just because it’s my favorite class. Haha!

I’ve been playing the game since launch (with the occasional hiatus every now and then when a new game comes out, or when I get really busy IRL), and I’ve only ever made lots of gold whenever I’d be out of a job or on extended vacation, and even then, I’ve never broken past 300g. How do you folks maintain your in-game income while being fully employed? I’ve been finding it hard to maintian a steady income in-game with my current job, that has me working 9hrs/day for 5days/wk (not to mention an average of 3hrs travel time from work and home).
Do you guys just bankroll it with your credit cards or something? Cause I’ve seen the conversion rates, and it’s pretty expensive…

I highly suggest trying the dungeons out with a group of friends. The dungeon pugging community can be very toxic and off-putting, so running with at least a friend or two is ideal, if you want to have a good time. Sure, the rewards may not be that good, but the experience is a reward on it’s own.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
TBH, you really shouldn’t expect your game to stay at 60FPS during meta events. with all the spell effects flying around, even 30 would be a lot….even if you set graphic options to low, the sheer density is enough to bog it down.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
Have you recently updated your drivers and BIOS? have you updated your client to the 64bit one (I know that it doesn’t change much, but every little bit helps haha)? How are your CPU and GPU temps?
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
Your CPU is more than enough, and you’re playing at the right resolution. Are you running other programs in the background? How are your down and upload speeds?
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
Man, I just got over Tybalt and Forgal, and now you guys bring it right back up again…
And yes, Eir’s death felt forced and out of place. If they really wanted to kill a DE member at the hands of Faolain, then Caithe would have made the most sense…but even that would still feel forced.

I’m as straight as they come, but even I’ve gone “ew, those pants DO NOT go with that top” several times in the gem store. +1 to splitting the outfits up!
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
I’ve been hearing it too, and to be honest, I didn’t know if it was my LB1 or my Charr Guardian…
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
Don’t go with the “optimal” settings Nvidia gives you, adjust it till your game runs smoothly, even in highly populated areas without sacrificing visuals too much. I’d suggest lowering the character density, turning off shadows, and lowering reflections.
If that doesn’t help, then you may want to invest a few $$$ into your rig. a Coolermaster 212 EVO is around $27 and it does a good job of cooling your CPU for that price point. Adding another intake located at the bottom (because your GPU’s fan is a blower fan that sucks air in, and blows it out the back of your PC), and an exhaust at the top can also help with your airflow. The twin pack for Corsair SP120 is around $25-$27, depending on where you shop.
You also might want to move your PC. Keeping it in an enclosed space is a sure fire way to kill the airflow, even i there is allowance. Also try to have “positive” airflow in your case, meaning more air coming in than going out. This allows for less dust to accumulate, and it helps your GPU’s blower fan cool your GPU off.

I’ll just post the bugs I’ve encountered here, on the off chance that a dev reads it.
1. Rifts opening mid air
2. Rifts opening outside of combat zone
3. Being tossed away, instead of up in the air
5. Forgal not being CC’d while trying to open a rift
6. Mordemoth throwing two rocks in rapid succession, after connecting with 1 rock (instant mid-air death).
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
If you’re anything like me, then you’ll have a maxed out zerker toon for each class, which allows you to go “el cheapo” on Viper gear by simply doing the HoT PS for each one of your toons. I’m about 3 boxes in at this point.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
I was actually thinking of either making a condition ranger or a condition reaper…just couldn’t decide on which would to pick. If I go with my ranger, then I have access to strong burns, but my DPS is shot if there’s a ton of movement. But If I go with a reaper, then I have access to chill as an additional dot, but I lack utility… :/

I’m trying to decide on a condition class to play for raids, but i don’t really want to run an engineer, cause I’m not a fan of having to position the circle each time I want to throw a grenade. Any suggestions? I’ve currently got one of each class fully kitted with zerker exotics (working on ascended weapons, and I have some zerker trinkets i swap between them), so re-rolling won’t be that hard.

Having a “dps meter” in the form of a post-kill or post-wipe averaged summary would be okay. Since it’s averaged, no one gets singled out, and it allows people to see how the group performed as a metric for improvement. I’d personally like to see the following:
1. power damage done
2. condition damage done
3. boon and condition up time, split for each boon/condition.
4. boon and condition strips, split for each boon/condition.
5. healing done and taken.
6. bar breaks and bar damage.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
If you want in, then just tell them. Statistics dictates that at least one of your three guilds will take you on their run. If they don’t, then you can just pug for now to learn the fights, then try again some other time.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
On another note, I’d understand if guilds in this game were like serious raid progression guilds in WoW, where you’d have to apply, trial, and line up your schedule to raid. But because guilds here don’t do that, then what’s the problem? It’s not like you were scheduled for a raid spot, only to be replaced by someone’s friend, were you? If you were, then that’s seriously messed up.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
(edited by beefjus.9347)
Why? Don’t you prefer running things with friends/acquaintances that you’re comfortable with, rather than just a random guildie? Being part of a guild does not automatically make you friends with people, it just helps narrow down the scope and range of the population for you to befriend and play with.

Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
Ah well…I guess it’s time to craft…begrudgingly
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
Yeah, not a huge fan of crafting in general. I just want to bash face/ boon support while having laughs over comms. Are they bound on acquire? If they’re not, I’ll probably just get someone to make em for me.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
The title says it all. How does one with no armor crafting go about acquiring Marauder and Viper gear?
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
I’m for having a PERSONAL output and throughput meter in-game. It’s NOT about being an elitist jerk, it’s about wanting to know what else I can do to improve my performance, based on empirical evidence.
The combat log already has the groundwork for it, all they need to do is add as a toggle in the UI.
If you’re so scared of being singled out, then why not have a meter for the whole group or raid, wherein everyone’s stats are added in? How about an end of run summary for power damage/condition damage/healing/downs/boon uptime/condition uptime/condition removal/boon removal?

A few issues:
1. Ever since I got HoT on launch, I’ve started to experience random crashes whenever I alt+tab. This does not happen all the time, but it does happen frequently.
2. Using Revenant Sword 3 on a mob that is charging towards a wall can some times get you stuck INSIDE the wall if the mob dies while you’re still “phased”.
3. Brahm can sometimes spawn the rifts in mid-air or outside of the combat zone during the Mordremoth encounter in the Personal Story.
4. Mordermoth can sometimes chain throw rocks at you right after you get hit by the first one.
5. Your Mentor can sometimes continue to attack and not get cc’d even if Brahm has already opened a rift.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
Yeah, but they’re not going to do that. Why give when you can sell? I’ll just have to bite the bullet and let it slide, since being continually stonewalled is starting to get in the way of me enjoying anything else. Congratulations on screwing me over, ANet! I hope that you guys feel good about your little “win”.

UPDATE:
“Thank you for taking the time to follow up with us. I apologize for the frustration this has caused. I feel that you have not gotten a full explanation as to why we are unable to offer you a refund for this issue. We have the ability to refund any amount of gems for any purchase, this is true, however, we are unable to remove the character slot from your account. We have no means of doing so. As such, offering you gems for this would equate to you receiving something that you may well use later, free of charge that others would have paid for. So while I understand that you feel robbed in this situation, we are unable to give you the refund for this purchase. If you need anything else please feel free to let us know.
Regards,
GM Untharin
The Guild Wars Support Team"
Had they said this earlier, things would have been way better, yet they chose to beat around the bush, and not tell me why they couldn’t do the refund. It’s still a pretty lame excuse “sorry that we took your 800 gems because our system derped…oh and sorry that we can’t give it back, because we didn’t foresee a problem like this ever arising, and we didn’t program the game to be able to handle this type of situation.”

Sorry to hear that you encountered the same problem.
I agree that the support team can make or break a game, but when dealing with millions of subscribers, the problems of one can seem negligible to these big companies. Take Blizzard/Activision for example. On two accounts, they have charged me twice for a single month’s subscription fee, and all they could say was “sorry, we can’t do anything to give you your money back”. I guess ANet is on the same boat with the other “evil” companies, wherein the problems of one doesn’t warrant action, even if it’s their fault.
I haven’t logged back into the game for a while now, since it feels sleazy eating from the hand that slapped me.

You did the right thing and you should not feel any guilt. The GW2 EULA states something about using third party programs in the game being an offense that warrants a ban (not reading the EULA is not an excuse for allegedly not knowing of the offense, since we agreed to abide by the rules in order to play the game).
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
Thanks
This is the first and only problem I’ve ever had with ANet and I hope it’ll be the only one. I’ve had similar problems in the past with both Activision and EA, but they’re both evil so it was actually my fault for trusting them with my money…Anet on the other hand has a good track record with their users, so I’m hoping that they’ll do something soon.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
I wonder if Anet is actually going to do something about this…

I contacted them before coming here. In fact, they were the ones who told me to come here, since they couldn’t do anything…
“Hello,
If you feel there was a bug in game that caused you to purchase multiple items from the gem store, the best thing to do would be to submit a bug report in game. We will still be unable to refund you the gems spent on the extra character slot however this will send detailed information about your character and your position directly to our Quality Assurance team. To submit a bug report in the game, simply click on the “Game Menu” button in the upper left hand corner of the game interface, then choose the Support option on the Game Menu. The Support option will allow you to review known issues, report a bug, or contact Customer Support.
You’re also welcome to report a game issue in the Game Bugs sub-forum of the Guild Wars 2 Forums ( https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs ). You may include screenshots with your forum report, if you wish to do so. While we are unable to respond directly to each bug report, they are reviewed and escalated, when appropriate.
Regards,
Guild Wars Support Team"
It was sent by someone named “Steven”, which doesn’t really help, since I’m sure that he’s not the only one by that name that works for you guys.

“But seeing as it happened 20 minutes after I used the first slot, it’s only reasonable for me to think that something dubious happened.” How do you know it happened 20 minutes after? That’s when you saw it, that does not mean that’s when it happened. It could have happened anytime from the time you logged on to ur toon to the time you saw it.
You’re right, I’m only assuming that it happened 20 minutes after. But the fact that I only saw ONE slot before creating my new toon, then saw another one AFTER playing for roughly 20 minutes still stands. This means that something happened while I was playing my new toon. Also, as LoloRuri stated, Anet already has my money. Why not just reverse the process, since they’ve already profited and risk to lose nothing by doing so?
@Loli Ruri.8307- Thanks for the support, buddy!

here is a tl;dr version of my original post, because you didn’t grasp everything.
- initial purchase did not prompt a confirmation and did not charge me, leading me to think that it did not go through
- second try charged me 800 and gave me ONE slot.
-logged out, saw ONLY ONE slot, used it, played for about 20m.
-logged out, saw ANOTHER slot, no more gems.
If I had seen TWO slots when I first logged out, I would have not gotten angry, because I’d accept that I bought it. But seeing as it happened 20 minutes after I used the first slot, it’s only reasonable for me to think that something dubious happened.
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
I bought 1600 gems yesterday because I wanted to use 800 for ONE character expansion slot, and to save the remaining 800 for future use. I then went on to buying the slot, but I did not get the purchase confirmation after clicking on the “confirm” button, and my gem balance did not decrease from 1600, leading me to believe that the transaction did not go through. I then tried it for a second time, got the confirmation, and saw my balance decrease to 800. So I logged off, saw ONE new character expansion slot, and made a new character. I played for about 20-25 minutes on my new toon, when I decide to log on to a different character, but upon reaching the character select screen, I notice that I had ANOTHER character expansion slot and began to panic. I logged on one of my older characters to check my gem balance and saw that I had ZERO gems left.
I then emailed support to tell them of the problem, and to possibly get my 800 gems back. Sadly, they said that they could not do anything to reverse the process or give me recompense, and said that I should post my problem here. All I want is to get rid of the unwanted character slot and get my 800 gems back, is that so hard to do?

Hi!
My main is a guardian, and I have a ranger and necro as my alts (all 80). Since rampagers gear worked so well with my necro, I was thinking of running the same setup on my ranger, with a hybrid crit/cond build for PvE. Would that work, or would I just be wasting stats?
Planning on upgrading to a GTX980ti by late 2016
I’m sure that someone else has posted it, but I’d also like to voice out my concerns.
- Colorblind mode
- Latency display on UI
- More accurate “tab targeting” (tabbing to a critter is just plain silly)
- Player notifications (it’d be nice to know when my friends log on, without having to constantly check the guild roster or friend list)
- Allow us to turn off the “greet” option for NPCs… it gets in the way of looting/reviving in dungeons.
- Allow us to preview things from the TP. It would be nice to see how a certain item/dye would look on your character before buying it.

I too would like to see a “color blind mode” added to the game. I enjoy playing the game, but I don’t enjoy having to squint to survive. I actually need to play with a friend on skype, just so that he can tell me when to roll out…

This is what I used from 1-80: http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mcom0M0zMovagMmvagMGGa0fcRMaoV
I had a Brown Bear for condition removal and a Sylvan Hound for a small heal (later replaced by a Hyena for more dps). Power> Precision> Condition Damage> else.
