In the current meta this isn’t a bad choice.
Though I would use something more like: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQJATRjEq0xa/KusQ1ag9gaVA0eIehs19WUEt9FbUVF-TpBFwACuAAIOCAy3fIxhAoaZAAPAAA
With either steady focus or predator’s instinct in MM.
Why travelers runes?
Well, if you’re just looking for a safe spot, the pillar in Foefire mid is pretty much impossible for anyone to get up to. It requires you to either dodge jump from a specific place or an incredibly lucky normal jump. Also the fence obstructs a lot of projectiles.

How useful you will be up there is another story.
Yeah I figure Stone is usually a given in zerker builds, and hunt is used a lot for WvW. I use a mix of hunt and stone when I roam in WvW, but usually swap hunt out for something else right before I engage in combat.
But I think taking up the last slot with another signet is a bit too much, and even if you run signet mastery, I feel there are better options out there. Which is why I found it so confusing to see people running with 3 signets in sPvP, WvW and in PvE!
From random people in the PvP lobby, to even the Anet Dev doing dungeons. I’m just wondering if they had some sort of special build made around signets that they found worked better than the meta builds.
I’ve seen a few signet rangers crop up in PvP recently, and I’m wondering what the build looks like. They’re usually running Stone, Renewal and either Hunt or Wild as the last one. It’s driving me nuts since I’m wondering what role they take and how they’re playing. The few I’ve fought against usually seem to be the guy with stab that stomps, but I didn’t really see them anywhere else during the fight.
I think a lot of ppl try unranked to learn and they have guild mates so they gp up. To be honest for the past few nights I have had better win ratio on the side that’s not gped than be on the gped side in ranked Q.
I think your mmr get bumped up when you q as a gp. So a 4,1 v 1,1,1,1,1 match the 5 solo would have higher MMR than the 4,1. If everyone of the solo are good players you are almost better off on that solo side.
Oh, well that explains a lot. We just had like a ridiculous lose streak over the last few days. Most of us haven’t been playing for more than a few months, so we try to run together for fun. But it’s pretty discouraging when you’re losing every single game even when you’re actually trying your best to coordinate. It was only when we solo queued separately out of frustration that we managed to bring our wins back to nearly 50%…
Thanks for the replies guys! I’ll freely admit that I’m probably as raw as they come (Gw2 is my first real PC game, and I only just learned you could turn by clicking last month…I’d been keyboard turning before) so I know there’s still a long ways for me to go.
I usually run with healing spring (I find troll ungent too slow since I usually get targeted and burst down pretty quickly), quickening zepher, lightning reflexes, signet of stone (to pop against thieves, or for stomps) and entangle. I sometimes switch to muddle terrain depending on the enemy/map.
Actually I found when I solo played, I did pretty well. Probably because everyone was less experienced. It was only when I started queuing with my guild and playing against more experienced players that I realized how huge of a skill gap there was. Now I’m just really motivated to improve myself so my team isn’t always carting my corpse around the map. I’ll try experimenting with that more survivable builds by Zenos Osgorma, but I also really enjoy how quickly power builds can help take people down.
I’ll check out vids with Eurantien in them, I definitely want to see how power rangers are played at a higher level.
On a different note and sort of off topic, but is there anything power rangers can do alone against a bunker guardian? I’ve ended up in a few situations where it’s just me and a bunker guardian fighting over a point, and there was practically nothing I could do to get him off. I can’t knock him off, and he can’t get rid of me, so it’s basically a stalemate.
I haven’t been playing all that long, so I mostly main with my first character (ranger). I run full zerker and use the standard Read the Wind power build from metabattle. In the beginning when I was playing against other newish players it was really easy to burst them down, but now as I find myself up against way better players, I’m seriously falling short behind. Each battle becomes heavily dependent on my teammates, and I feel like I either spend myself dead/downed most of the time, or we do pretty well.
I’m also noticing that after a while, it seems very few other rangers are running the power build, and are going spirits. So I’m wondering, are power build rangers just not viable in sPvP after a certain point? Or is it just one of those things where I just need to improve my skill level, and it has nothing to do with the build?
