I’m not a huge fan of the new schedule. It feels like going back to school all over again with strict timetables. Aside from that, I used to be able to do Teq almost every day if I had the time but now I can’t because the times are really awkward since I’m based in EU. Please at least double the spawn of those world bosses to 6 times a day so players of all timezones can participate. Thank you.
Please, this at the very least, though I am of the mind that if you are going to increase the length between boss spawns, that it only ever be every 3 hours at most.
7 hours between spawns is insanity and in fact removes world bosses as an option for many people because, gasp WE HAVE JOBS AND CLASSES AND REAL LIVES.
Making PvE content less accessible is a recipe for failure. WoW doesn’t restrict raiding to THIS ONE HOUR EVERY DAY because it would be asinine. Yet, in a game where the closest thing you get to raiding is world bosses, you see fit to make them only spawn 3 times a day. Are you nuts, Anet?

Yes, let’s all rejoice in us becoming an amorphous, featureless blob of zergs in open pve. One of us, one of us…..
I want to get off Mr. Anet’s Wild Ride

I predict the rise of the untraited level 80, which you will see in your dungeon group, pve, and wvw, and which you will have no way of knowing until they keep wiping or causing the group to wipe.
‘why don’t you have xyz trait’ ‘I can’t complete the event’.
You don’t need to be a psychic to see this on the horizon ;P
I feel you. I’m trying to level an engineer, but hell, it’s a mess.
My two 80s are mesmer/engineer. I feel like I dodged a bullet, man, especially with mesmer.

Don’t worry guys, Lawless Helm and Shoulders now in the Gem Store!
And they brought back the executioner’s outfit too!
“GIBE MONEY PLS” -Anet
Why don’t you guys just stop playing this game. Do what I did and walk away? Its the last straw.
So I didn’t really want to go super in-depth as to why I still want to love and play this game, but I MIGHT AS WELL. WALL OF TEXT INC
My boyfriend and I met raiding on WoW about four-ish years ago. I’m in Pennsylvania, he’s in Cali. Neither of us have the income/job prospects to just up and move across the country to be with each other. We have kept our relationship going long-term long-distance by playing video games. It’s tough, being so many timezones apart, especially for me because I work a 9-5 (his work schedule is a lot more flexible due to the nature of what he does) and I often stay up late to hang out with him.
After we both quit WoW, it was hard to find a game both of us wanted to play. I got into SWTOR and it became my main MMO, but he hates SWTOR with a passion, so that was a no-go. We sometimes play TF2 or co-op games, but before he gifted me a copy of GW2 to play with him we didn’t have an MMO to hang out in together. First thing I would hear (pre patch) when I’d log in to mumble would be “hey, x is spawning soon, want to kill it?” or “Want to do a dungeon/fractal?” When it’s so hard to meet up in real life regularly, something as simple as hanging out in a video game becomes infinitely more precious.
It’s hard to drop GW2 when if I do there won’t be anything to fill the gap relationship-wise. I can’t in good conscience keep supporting a game (my copy may have been a gift, but the gem purchases were all me) that treats its customers with such disrespect.
The bottom line: when I’m not enjoying GW2, it puts a visible strain on our relationship. You don’t want to take your SO out on a date to a place they hate, and that’s what it feels like for me right now. I hate logging in and getting a megaserver, I hate the spawn time changes, I hate the shameless addition of gemstore items when they can’t get their base game to work properly.
TL;DR I want to be done with GW2, but where will I go? Can I even find a MMO that both me and my boyfriend will enjoy after this one?
I, just… -sigh-

Megaservers are great…if you enjoy reading the GW2 equivalent of Barrens Chat
Here’s a direct result of different servers getting dumped together and language filter stealth-added and turned on by default. So much for “facilitating friendly play”:
I would have flipped my desk in rage. How long did it take until you finally got people to stop?

Every MMO has griefers. Gw2 has quite a good community compared to other MMO’s honestly.
HAHAHA ARE YOU FOR REAL
GW2’s community is just as bad as every other MMO community out there and you’re deluding yourself if you think that’s not the case. These forums are heavily sanitised so maybe the forums are a bit nicer than other MMOs’ forums but that’s it. Player base is just as bad/good as any other.
Or is the constant trolling all across the megaservers just a figment of my imagination?
Yeah I am and you must have never played another MMO lol. WoW and Rift have much worse communities than this. The forums from every game have really toxic environments, this one is pretty good. You probably need to read up on the blizz forums sometime to appreciate how well this one looks.
Forums are always toxic because every game has a community of people who feel the need to nag and let the world know about it, and the forums is pretty much where they go.
I play Rift, WoW, SWTOR and GW2 and I honestly can’t tell a difference. Maybe you were on a really nice server before the megas but now that it’s one big clusterkitten it’s basically like being in barrens chat ALL THE TIME

Third, I dont feel cities need to be in the mega server system at all, since they do not have any real value other than crafting/banking/forging, etc. No bosses spawn, nor events that need more players. Please leave cities of the grid so we can continue to interact with our server mates we have come to know.
This is probably the most egregious part of the megaserver system for me.
There is really no reason to megaserver the cities other than for Anet to point and say “LOOK! LOOK HOW MANY PEOPLE WE HAVE PLAYING GUISE! ISN’T THIS GREAT?! BUY THINGS FROM THE GEM STORE TO SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION”
Just no, Anet. I don’t enjoy FPS drops while I’m trying to bank and craft. I don’t give two kittens how many people you can cram in DR or Rata Sum, or in Vigil Keep. I don’t care how “alive” they feel because I’d much rather have blissful silence than hear a bunch of kittening trolls trash talking each other. I don’t honestly care how many people are at the crafting station with me, or at looking at everyone all wearing the same Mad King’s outfit.
Ugh.
No one is saying that, and it is very rude to put words in people’s mouths. Of course the game should aim to evolve, but this particular change has many problems that needs to be addressed and fixed. And perhaps Anet should consider doing more extensive testing before letting things like this go live on the player servers, because right now many of us are feeling like they are using us as a test server. That is a very worrisome impression.
Maybe I’ve been lucky, but all the MMO’s I’ve played with the exception of this one have had a public test server of some kind. It still puzzles me that GW2 does not, since it’s pretty clear that internal testing does NOT catch problems adequately.

Having time to sleep on the idea of megaservers, I’ve come to the conclusion that it still sucks.
EVEN IF MEGASERVERS WERE WORKING PROPERLY, THEY WOULD STILL
1) Destroy server communities
2) Provide ample breeding grounds for the trolls across all servers to congregate to spout their ugliness
3) Make organizing for the big world bosses a logistical nightmare
4) Make it difficult to get event mob tags because mobs die so kittening fast (I guess it’s my fault, I made the mistake of playing S/F S/P mesmer, better reroll staff guardian)
5) Turn guild missions into a lot of waiting as everyone and their mom’s guilds are trying to do the same missions you are
And on top of all that, THEY DON’T EVEN WORK PROPERLY, as evidenced by
1) Inability to make sure all party members enter the same megaserver
2) Inability to make sure all guild members enter the same megaserver – yet another hassle for guild missions
3) Inability to make sure you get put on a server with people who speak your language
I wanted to give megaservers a fair shake, but they are basically the worst of all worlds. I’ll take half-empty mid-level zones over this hot mess any day.
#mesmerlyfe
Good luck trying to attempt wurm.
Because right now it’ll be impossible to complete it since the map got megaserv’d
Map will now be full of leeches and unorganized players who stand where they want in phase 2.
Doing wurm on a megaserver is going to be nearly impossible. It by far requires the most coordination of anything in the PvE game, and good luck getting a bunch of randos to come into teamspeak to organize. It’s going to have to be an attempt on an overflow or none at all.
You’ll be lucky to get an attempt to P2, let alone to a kill with megaservers.
This is really why I think Anet should sometimes stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Raids have been instanced for the last 10 years in MMOs, and this is why.
Yep.
While I love the idea of huge complicated world boss fights, it creates so many problems because people are kittens.

I love the idea of unlocking your traits in a fashion similar to the original GW1 elite skills.
I am far less enthusiastic about the implementation. I won’t even go into the level appropriate-ness of several trait-unlocks (they are ridiculously over the top in many, many cases) – but requiring large scale group events for unlocking personal character growth is less than ideal, particularly when this requires you to fail specific events. It is bad enough that several ‘retake’ events give you far better/more loot than the respective defend events, but now you need to stand around watching events fail to get your traits! How is this going according to plan?
Also, personal character development should be soloable and far less dependent on arbitrary event timers. It should be something I can do in between other stuff, on my own time, not something requiring 50+ other players (hello karka queen pre-events) and 1h+ playtime (hello dungeons – not everything is as quick as AC and CoF).
10000% This!
#mesmerlyfe
If server populations were such a problem, why didn’t they just bite the bullet and do server merges?
I know that’s a DIRTY WORD in MMO-land, but honestly the megaservers are killing the game in a way that server merges could never hope to do. Nobody wants to play a game where tagging mobs is impossible, where doing guild missions is like waiting in the queue at the post office, and where I hear nothing but hate speech because someone dared to type to map chat in a language that isn’t english
It wasn’t a server populations problem, it was a map population issue. Some maps just didn’t get that much traffic.
It’s also a way of future proofing the game for when they open new zones this year and the older ones will naturally have less traffic.
For the record I’m loving Megaserver tech. Needs a couple tweaks but it’s a very good change to see a city like Hoelbrak be a bustling metropolis.
Sure, everything is tokyo populated, but what is the point when 90% of the chatter is hateful and I can’t recognize anyone? This might be crazy, but I don’t mind empty mid-level zones as long as the server population itself is healthy. For me, megaservers are not healthy when they destroy server communitites.
It’s not our fault that nobody wants to do anything in some zones. That just means they’re boring. Maybe Anet should make zones worth going back to instead of forcing us into megaservers.

I feel you OP.
Due to my work and school schedule I don’t ever get to do karka now, and only get one shot at wurm/teq if I log on ages before so I get in the appropriate server.
I gave megaservers a chance because I hoped they would alleviate some of the problems with overflows, except they didn’t, and they created a bunch of problems that didn’t exist before megaservers. Doing a wurm on a megaserver will be borderline impossible. Good luck getting everyone on teamspeak! You ABSOLUTELY will need an overflow now if you want a successful kill with people all on voice chat.
I’m tired of the Tower of Babel, I’m tired of all the hate speech the Tower of Babel creates because there are people that apparently hate all non-english speakers, I’m tired of not recognizing anyone on the megaservers, I’m tired of only getting one shot a day at world bosses (at best) because I work a 9-5 job along with being a part-time student. I’m upset I had to put in a refund because they changed all the outfits I bought in good faith in the gem store, I’m upset because doing guild missions is a hassle now, and I’m MOST upset about the fact that not only did Anet think this patch was a good idea, but that they refuse to acknowledge the problems and instead have gone FULL SPEED AHEAD with the megaserver implementations even though it’s the worst of all worlds.
My typical GW2 login now consists of endless queensdale zerg and an occasional dungeon. Maybe if I’m feeling particularly ambitious, I will try to do wurm or teq, but usually it’s not worth the grief.
So GG anet, you’ve killed most of my interest in this game. I hope it was worth it.

You missed this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Game-Updates-Guild-World-Events-Megaservers-WvW/page/5#post3915670Obviously the language mess isn’t how it was intended to work – they actually stated the opposite.
Zoejo I understand your good intentions, but Anet is based in NA and there’s no official statement from them reassuring us, EU players, that this was a mistake and they’re hard at work fixing it. You can’t really blame people for voicing their opinions on something that disrupts the game for them. I do hope it’s a mistake that is pending improvements, before a vast majority pack up and leave.
Especially when people are spouting all sorts of hateful kitten towards non-english speakers on the megaservers. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just up and left. I would.
#mesmerlyfe
But neither did they lie about it, or hide it, in any way. They made sure to blatantly point it out, so no one would be ‘surprised’ or ‘mislead’ by what was going to happen.
That does actually make it better. Does it make it perfect? No, we hope there is a solution to the issue. But at least they were transparent about the drawback.
So if a dude came up to you with a gun, said “I am going to take your money then shoot you” then did it, that would be better than the guy just taking your money and shooting you with no warning? Oh puh-leeze.
Oh kitten , that is no where even close to the same thing. Blow it out of proportion some more why don’t you. This is more akin to people not reading the kitten fine print of a contract and then being kittened off when they can’t return something, or being charged a restocking fee and being kittened off because ‘no one told them.’ Well, they told us. That simple.
I just took the argument to the (admittedly absurd) extreme in order to demonstrate my point.
It’s not any less kittening someone if you tell them beforehand.
Sure, you might be a little more honest and upfront, but in the end, it’s still kittening someone.
Reading the fine print on a contract is totally different because it implies you can opt out of it if you don’t like it. You can’t opt out of an MMO patch (though I suppose you can opt out of the MMO by /uninstalling).
#mesmerlyfe
“Casual” and “hardcore” are stupid terms that don’t mean anything anymore. GW2 used to be a game for skilled people without much spare time. Now it’s a game for unskilled people with lots of spare time. That’s the big shift and TBH I don’t like it.
Well the game was advertised as a non-grindy game where everyone would have the same gear level and content was open for everyone, without raids or raid timers.
Didn’t work out. ANet adapted to:
A game that is grindy where only the people with tons of time have the best gear and giant raids on fixed timers.
Looks like every other MMO to me now. So this game is for everyone who loves classic style MMOs like WoW or similar.
WoW lets you do raid bosses at any time provided you have the people, so GW2 is in fact worse in this regard since they changed the boss spawn timers.
#mesmerlyfe
Why should we have to pay for a trait simply because it’s tied to an event that may never happen again?
This is my issue. “Play how you want” is just smoke up our kitten, it implies choice when choice is exactly what was removed from MULTIPLE things this patch. It’s “play how we want you to play at these specific points in the day or go away”

#mesmerlyfe
Absolutely! I just started playing… and until I got my traits, I couldn’t even do my story quests! It’s kinda absurd… I get that’s it’s supposed to be a grind, but this game is years old and I kind of want to get to 80 ASAP to catch up to everyone already at 80 doing the 80 stuff and being at 80…
Good thing I only bought this half off… guess it’s not that much a waste if it turns to crap.
Sadly that seems to be generally what people are saying that are new. The person I recruited to play has already quit.
Anet I don’t think realized how bad this would suck for new players. They either need to implement better loot at lower levels, or starting at 10 give 1 trait every 5 levels. The current system is not fun for any of the new people I’ve talked to.
I’m rather certain there is anecdotal evidence for “yeah but new people love it”. If anyone at Anet wants please pm me, I will gladly provide you a list of names of ACTUAL new players that hate this feature.
We can compile a list of old players who hate it too, I’m sure, as I am one of them.
Exacerbating the problem is the fact that you need to do world events that are on really strict timers now.
Work a job or live in an inconvenient time zone? Well KITTEN YOU BUDDY, BETTER GET GRINDING
It’s okay though, I’ll just spend my time and money in a game that doesn’t kick me in the kittens every time I log in. I work full-time and am taking college classes on the side so I only have a very specific time in the evenings to get stuff done. That a whole swath of PvE events that I enjoyed are no longer open to me is insulting. That I have to do these to get abilities on alts is also insulting. This isn’t an improvement, it’s a removal of content that I could do previously within the time window that I had. For example: karka. I LIKED karka, and now I can’t even get a spawn time that works for me. This is Terrible Design.
If I implemented the EMR system I’m working on half as badly as the way anet implemented this patch, I’d be sacked.
#mesmerlyfe
(edited by cakesphere.5910)
Why would you do this, anet? The Mystic Toilet is already awful.
To turn the awfulness up to 11 is insanity.
80 gear should ALWAYS return 80 gear, full stop.
This isn’t an improvement, just like everything else you’ve implemented this patch, it’s one step “forward” (massive sarcasm quotes) and about fifty steps backward.
#mesmerlyfe
My friend, if a solution was to be implemented, they wouldn’t have expanded Skynet to more areas, and instead, it would’ve been contained to the zones it was originally meant to exist.
I’m personally tired of how corrupted the zone chat has become since that kitten megaserver took over. It’s offensive, disturbing, and this morning was the first time after the beta that i turned it off, due to a bunch of morons discussing about how a Sylvari’s backside smells..
Enough is enough, i’d say…
Yeah, I’m so tired of it. I also hate that now I don’t see the people I’m used to on chat. You play enough and you get to the point where you know a bunch of people, even if you aren’t friends, per se, and enjoy running into them as you play. Now that’s totally gone, and all the people that ARE talking in chat are ones that I don’t want to be associated with because they’re all kittenholes. Ugh.
#mesmerlyfe
I put in a request for a refund on the night of the patch but still no reply (other than the automated “we have recieved your request” reply).
Has anyone had or know of anyone that has had a refund yet?
Haven’t gotten my refund yet either, but they did say that it might take some time to sort out all the requests (which leads me to think that yes, they did expect this, which makes me even madder that they went through with it anyway). Not that knowing that there’s a waiting game makes it any better
#mesmerlyfe
I don’t want to be called a ****ing Naz*, every single kittening time I join a Megaserver and speak in the language of MY SERVER !
People in the community should not do this.
This should not be happening. Anyone that does this is in breach of the Code of Conduct.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/Sad to say it but when you are on a MegaServer map you are not on your server you are on the MegaServer. They should not be yelling at you for speaking German nor should you be yelling at them for speaking English.
I hate to be cynical but I bet the amount of people banned for hate speech on the megaservers is exactly zero, even though I’m seeing it everywhere.
I’m a native english speaker so it isn’t directed towards me but it’s horrible to look at nonetheless and if I weren’t a native speaker I’d feel pretty unwelcome.
#mesmerlyfe
People also have to keep in mind that server-merges in this game can be rather hard, due to the 3-server match-ups in WvW.
That means that everytime they merge servers they need to merge 3, 6, 9, 12 etc servers, and that might create rather big issues, especially with languages.
With all due respect, I think it’s clear that there are already language problems with the megaservers.
I could see WvW being an issue but couldn’t they just reduce the servers by a number divisible by 3? Obviously the semantics involved would be a nightmare (especially with the rankings and everything), but I fail to see how megaservers aren’t a nightmare either, IDK.
If the people managing SWTOR were able to make server merges work, then I know anet (a team that has demonstrated that they have the talent to make it work, with a game with a lot less awful engine than SWTOR to boot) can.
#mesmerlyfe
Really they should have just manned up and done server merges.
But no they can’t be admitting needing to do that when a competitor just launched.
Server communities being destroyed like that would most likely be far more damaging than a megaserver.
They are already destroy the communities anyway, they are just avoiding using the dread words ‘server merge’.
Server merges saved SWTOR. They’re not all bad. I mean server communities are destroyed either way, I’d argue that merges are the lesser of two evils if population issues are that much of a problem.
#mesmerlyfe
You can never resolve negativity by adding more ways to be negative.
This should be shouted from the rooftops.
#mesmerlyfe
and yet, they chose to install such a system on a live environment, without extensive beta tests, well i guess thats not true, beta starts now. Well i hope their diviners are geniuses and can solve the issues in record times. 1/month fixes arent going to cut it, difficult or not, this is the path they themselves chose.
Blizzard and riot do extensive public testing from what i heardalso many of these problems are not programming problems, they are design problems. Within 1 minute of megaserver system, i wondered, how well will a system that auto filters people based on population handle multiple languages, since the filter isnt live, it was destined to end up spreading out people, since the state always changes.
Even Bioware, who has a pretty awful track record with bugfixing with regards to SWTOR, has a public test server. That GW2 does not blew my mind when I first found out, and it still blows my mind. Even with the most rigorous internal testing on the planet, you will STILL miss bugs, and the unfortunate truth of the matter is that players are probably the best resource you have to catch them. This is why I have always felt that it’s irresponsible for an MMO to not have a public test server of some kind.
And 110% agreed that a lot of the issues are not only bugs, but fundamental problems in design. Did nobody ask the questions like “how will the megasystem system filter x?” or “how will the spawn changes effect players not in North America?”, or did they just ignore them because they were hell-bent on implementing things THIS PARTICULAR WAY?
I just don’t understand how a lapse of judgement this big could have occurred. Then again, I wonder that in SWTOR too and I still don’t have a good answer.
#mesmerlyfe
Why would you make the mega-events MORE inaccessible by limiting spawn times? This is literally the worst idea I’ve ever heard in the history of ever.
Could you even imagine if WoW, for example, limited your ability to kill their bosses to 3 times a day every day? People would have a kittening cow, which is what I’m having right now since the only reason I log on is to do the mega-events and maybe a handful of dungeon runs.
As a dedicated PvE-er this is a major step backwards for accessibility of the big PvE events. The really big ones (Tequatl and Wurm) are already difficult enough to herd a group of over a hundred people together for. Most groups aren’t going to be able to make a kill so I don’t really understand a restriction at all, and it’s not like we were killing them for the AMAZING LOOT they dropped (pffft HAHAHAHA I’m sorry, I couldn’t keep myself from laughing there).
EDIT: Okay, okay, so it’s not the worst idea in the history of ever as far as video games are concerned, that still goes to SWG’s NGE.
So CONGRATULATIONS, anet, you are still ahead of SOE. Barely. /golfclap

(edited by cakesphere.5910)
I fully agree with this. I have 7 characters under level 80. Before the patch I had roughly 100 yellow stones, enough to change their outfits every 10 levels, due to completing maps with them. After the patch that number has been reduced to 33. I have been scammed out of 66 stones!
There needs to be a better system in place for levelling characters; they tend to change armor more often then people at high level. This system is a step backwards for anyone who is still levelling characters, especially since transmutation charges from the Cash Shop are more expensive now then the yellow stones were.
I also have many alts, and I too find this to be a real bummer. Also, feeling pretty shafted since I blew a lot of my lowbie transmutation stones before patch was announced and therefore missed out on a lot of charges (I only did map completion on one character and even then I was swimming in stones so I just used them like candy. Welp, hindsight is 20/20 and all that.)
I did have a bunch of transmutation crystals hoarded away at least so I’ll be able to change full outfits maybe twice that way but I would never want to do that on my lowbie toons as it would be a colossal waste of my money. Sigh.
For a game that touts itself as casual-friendly you really dropped the ball on the casuals-centric bits this patch anet.

I’d just like to add my name to the list of people totally dissatisfied with how the wardrobe works now (ESPECIALLY with town clothes).
I’ve asked for a refund for all the stupid kittening single piece tonics I got (yeah because I really wanted two of those riding clothes tonics -eyeroll-) and let them know that I won’t be patronizing them with gemstore purchases any more on my refund ticket.
Valve, however, has been getting loads of my business since they added the ability to list TF2 stranges on the marketplace
Got rid of loads of the stranges I couldn’t find buyers for before and bought some midweek madness games!
#mesmerlyfe
You guys didn’t read the info on Town Clothes did you? Some of them are turning into regular armor skins. gg.
Some. Only some. Lots of individual pieces are being lost as they’re being turned into one-piece “outfits”. It’s impacting a lot of people as you can tell since we’re averaging 6 pages of outrage each day so far over the last 4 days.
The point of that quote being, I believe, that some items that are now Town Clothes (a “surprising number,” according to The Voice of ANet Speaking Through Curtis) will start costing us money in the form of transmutation charges, because armor will cost charges to transmute— and since Town Clothes have no stats, we’ll probably have to transmute the skins onto existing armor, using charges which cost money, unless they have the brains to do something with them like the Traveler’s armor where you could select the armor’s new stats. (Given the current state of affairs, ANet being either incompetent or malicious— I’d like to assume the former, I fear I might believe the latter— I doubt they’d do something so helpful and so unprofitable.)
In other words, it’s yet another reason to be outraged: having to pay AGAIN to apply these skins we already paid for to armor if we want to use them at all.
To be fair, at least the 1-79 transmutation stones will be converted over, too, but I imagine there will be those who have used up their stones and will have to pay.
#mesmerlyfe
I tried to get on last night to do some WvW, but it just felt hollow. I gotta say, the town clothes change upset me, but I didn’t think it’d harsh my buzz THIS much.
Was thinking of getting on and doing some alt leveling today but I’m just not feeling that either. Guess I’ll just get on SWTOR or play TF2 for awhile and try to keep up hope that they’ll reverse this change.
It’s hard to play GW2 when every time I check the TP I see that I have gems and it makes me a little ill to think of the money I’ve spent with the reasonable assumption that the town clothes I bought would work as-is for pretty much forever.

If you are immersed enough to feel sorrow for Scarlet, you should also remember that she has killed MANY people in LA. There’s a nice memorial set up now in case you forgot. Scarlet made a choice, kill many, and had to pay the price. The jokes at the end are the result of intense stress and is a coping mechanic. If you don’t believe me, look at soldiers in post war situations, EMR’s and police officers after difficult situations. They will sing songs, joke and do all sorts of things to cope with what they saw (many are off colored songs about that situation, and jokes that are less than ideal for the experience).
This.
There seems to be a lot of people here who don’t understand that humor is often a coping mechanism.
That said, I’m all for more variety in how your character responds in a conversation

They aren’t reducing ‘loot’ per se, just the raw gold from events. Same with champ bags.
What ? Raw Gold ? Events give something like 1s 30c .. no matter how long it takes. All they can reduce is the “raw copper”. Even the quickest possible events are not worth the time reward wise.
Mine iron ore or chop some wood and you’ve made more than with one event.
I don’t understand what reducing the raw gold output from bags/events even accomplishes, few people are doing events as it is other than the champ trains, and let’s be honest, nobody does the champ trains for the raw gold output :|
So basically all this does is discourage everyone from doing all events except the champ trains.
And then anet wonders why we aren’t running around the world doing all the content they’ve made.

First (and only time I think) I broke all my armor was on my engineer alt in the Mad King’s Labyrinth. Kept dying to mobs while trying to run back to champs but I didn’t want to leave to repair or I’d have to keep looking for doors to return and miss out on the loot/xp train.
Once everything broke, though, I was pretty much forced to accept defeat and go repair.

I think the only change should be that deaths in WvW don’t damage armor. That would be justifiable imo.
I would be okay with this tbh. This is how it works in many other MMOs, and I’ve never really understood why WvW had repair costs associated with death in the first place.
YMMV obviously.
#mesmerlyfe
My problem with the removal of repair costs/trait resets is that we removed two relatively small gold sinks but at the same time are reducing a lot of the rewards from killing “difficult” enemies.
This seems like a really dumb tradeoff.
Full disclosure: the only reason I really play this game is for the easy fun that porting around and doing events/killing champs/killing world bosses provides.
There’s no such thing as a bad player. Maybe a sore winner or a sore loser, but no such thing as a bad player.
False. There are definitely things that you can do in this game that, if you know they are something that results in death, would make you an objectively less skilled player, hence “badder”.
How bad depends on what they’ve done and who you ask, of course.

Since we’re playing on that “highly logical” extreme.
McDonalds would probably kick you out of the store long before two years to eat the burger you paid for. Just sayin’…
This feature film has been modified in proportion and duration to fit on your TV.
But it’s why I really dislike the “what if this was a restaurant?” analogy.
It’s beyond apples and oranges. It’s apples and streetcars. What is acceptable business for consumable goods is FAR different than reusable products. Of course your analogy sounds silly… because there’s absolutely no logical reason for the policies of either to overlap. The analogy is lost not because the logic of either side is unsound… but because the logic of either is completely and inherently incompatible to begin with. You CAN’T run a restaurant like a software company in any tangible way.
A much more accurate analogy, personally, would be equivalent to the shift from analog to digital TV. The change was GOING to happen, no matter how much previous adapters liked it or not. They even complained about buying a new analog set if companies KNEW it was going to change soon.
But that was going to happen no matter what. There was always going to be an unfortunate overlap somewhere, no matter WHEN they pulled the trigger. And at the end of the day, the best TV providers could do was offer a compromise while the transition was in place.
Because the transition was going to happen, and for the bulk of the customers base, it HAD to, and it wasn’t feasible to keep both methods running forever. At some point, analog signals HAD to go down permanently.
I see this as very similar. Arena.net is completely revamping how “town clothes” work… and it just isn’t realistic for them to have two completely different systems. It’s unfortunate that it’s upsetting people, but it’s unavoidable. I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to deal with it… or go somewhere else if you can’t.
This is also a terrible analogy because the revamp itself is awful. It’s like if they went from analog tv to digital but removed every TV channel except one.
But it’s okay, because they will show lots of different shows on that one channel! Nevermind that you liked having several channels to choose from. This is just as good, we promise! You just have to give our one superchannel a try!
edited a few times because I type faster than my brain can move and I can’t analogy till I have my ducks in a row ><

If your apology is truly that sincere you ought to offer us refunds not just for the items that will be turned into tonics, but all items that will no longer be what they were, because to many of us they have lost their purpose and would not have purchased if we had we known. You are destroying options that we have been happy with for a very long time. You are removing variety, not adding to it.
I believe a healthier game would be one where the developers actually listens to their playerbase and ask for their input before removing content. Especially when it is content that many have spent a lot of flesh world money on.
Exactly this.
I don’t understand why anet would push this change forward like it is and then have the nerve not to reimburse people whose town clothes aren’t becoming tonics yet still losing the original function that they had
Like how hard is it to be decent to your customers? How hard is it not to kitten over the people who like the game enough to not just buy utility things like bag slots, but town clothes
These are ONLY the people who are throwing money at you -rolls eyes-
Every part of their decision baffles me in a different way.

Couldn’t you just make ALL current Town Clothes into armor skins?
FORGET the “costume” junk that has no mix ‘n’ match flexibility.
FORGET the “tonics” that will need to be reapplied every time we zone.
If it takes a little while to “separate” things like the Pirate Costume into individual parts, that’s okay! We’ll wait!
Is there any reason you can’t meet us halfway? Go ahead and combine the Town Clothes with the Armors if you feel you must for some reason. But make it SIMPLER than “costumes” and “Tonics”. Make EVERYTHING an individual armor skin.
I would still dislike this as I actually LIKE having a town clothes set for shenanigans and an all business armor set that I can switch to with the push of a button, but just making them all skins would be better than the way it is now.
I mean, not that much better, but still better.
I still don’t understand what the problem with having a segregated town clothes set and a combat set is in the first place.

I’d like all my kittening money back for all the wardrobe pieces I’ve bought.
To clarify this for everyone, you will only be able to get a refund for town clothes that become endless tonics.
So I won’t even be able to get gems back for the individual pieces? UGH.
Just what I wanted, a bunch of utterly useless clothes that I can’t even get a refund for.
#mesmerlyfe
You’ll see more outfits coming out this summer and additions to the game more often usable by your characters.
and you can look forward to more new outfits coming very soon.
You’re out of your mind if you think I will trust you as a company with my money once more. What else will change that I paid money for and can’t get a proper refund for? Gems I can get returned, but not the money I bought them with.
I really don’t want to come off as offensive, but I’m thoroughly disappointed in the entirety of Arenanet.Absolutly right.
Well, up to the point of “entirety of Arenanet”, Im not sure I’d go that far but no way I’ll be giving them my money again.
This.
I’m not going to give you any more money after this, anet. How am I supposed to trust that you won’t change the system again? What if you decide to just destroy the functionality of something else I buy?
Whatever, no skin off of my back. I’ll just spend my money on a company who doesn’t make a whole swath of my purchases useless.

You’re not supposed to lose features with a feature patch.
You’re not supposed to lose features with a feature patch.

Dear anet,
I’d like all my kittening money back for all the wardrobe pieces I’ve bought. Gotta say, I’m feeling pretty boned right now. I really like the way I look in my town clothes and I’m super irritated that you’re turning them into an “all or nothing” deal that penalizes those who have sunk money into multiple pieces.
Get out, this is awful.
Sincerely,
Beslley

The crappy little Asuran city is even better then LA is, the bank and AH is within spitting distance of each other and the crafting stations are a 10 second run.
Get over it, you’re paying an almost F2P game you want them to do new things like destroying LA? They need to try and make some cash.

it is unplayable, i dont see anything. its worse than culling, its super culling. i’ve reset my graphics right after the patch and now i don’t see any aoe, idk where waterfields, nullfields are,idk where any enemy fields are, i either die, because i stepped on something i didnt see ore we win and watch a firework slideshow 20 seconds after we are done. and btw if u have done the new pve event, check the centaur champ and im sure u are wondering what killed u…well it was his aoe which u didnt see at all!
please anet fix this asap
Yep. Both pavilion events and WvW are pretty unplayable because the aoe shows up a good 10-20 seconds after it actually goes off. Luckily for the pavilion there are a lot of people rezzing, or the champs would never die.
Also, I’m having to target mobs by their health bars now, because they’re often invisible for 10-20 seconds also until they pop in.

Ugh the camera in the cages. This is part of why I don’t do them. I find if you set the setting to best performance however things work fine for me. Just not as nice to look at. Just remember to switch back when you head out. It has to do with the number of players on the map. Welcome to how WvW feels in large fights.
Yeah, that’s what I finally settled on doing. Hilariously, I can still see the FPS raise and drop when I move my camera around, but on best performance the graphics are so low that it’s still playable instead of being a 1 fps-fest.
#mesmerlyfe
Same for me. Even teleporting around Lion’s Arch is unbearably slow now.
#mesmerlyfe
My FPS is usually great, but when I get into specific spots (parts of Black Citadel, for instance) my FPS drops to rock bottom. I usually just avoid the area, but this same sort of thing is happening in Crown Pavilion for me and I can’t really avoid Crown Pavilion if I want to do achievements. I can get it to go away if I rotate my camera so I cannot see the ground, but that obviously isn’t viable for doing anything since I can’t see anything with the camera like that.
Really, really disappointing
