It could still very well be a heat problem the game pushes you CPU hard and many laptops have combined CPU GPU heatsinks and only 1 fan so can heat up very quickly check your temps whilst the game is running for a start

For gw2 a Hd 7790 is more then enough my 7770 can run it on ultra with about 20% spare power

sort of the game can use 20 cores but it wont see a performance boost most of the rendering and such it done on 2-3 threads 1 thread is the main thing so this means this quickly can use most of the core processing power up the rest of the threads use little power

Because AMD CPU have much lower single threaded performance compared to a same clocked Intel guild wars puts mist of its rendering in to 2 or 3 CPU threads

Its not anti amd it just requires lots of single threaded power The main area amd is behind they need to move to 22nm for The next cpu cores if they want anychance of staying near to intels 16nm ( I think its 16nm anyway)

What fps do you get on low setting The 8350 should at least do mid range with 15 + in LA I got 20+ on a pent dual 3ghz

At 1080p I only use around 500mb on my card so 2gb should be more then enough for a 1440 display unless your planning on here using dual moniters you should never reach 2 gb useage on single

Part of The reason is anet dosent expect people to buy 2 account 1 is all most people have with maybe a extra charcter slot or 2

Are you on a normal hdd if so this will slow loading a lot The world is to big to hav all in ram at anytime and it take time to load form th hdd into ram then to graphics to see it

Compared to wow gw2 is very high on cpu useage I’ve oly got a dual ckre and have 80% useage all The time on this game

What temp do you class as hot for this game
Set frame limiter and drop charcter limit if you have it set tona high setting should reduce heat build up

I used The disks and didn’t even get asked for disk 2 didn’t know I had it till a week later

It will run on low setting with lowest player quality a charcter limits at a playable quailty generally in pve

Enable frame limiter to make your gpu not work as hard 60 fps is more then enough

As far as I know, DX is just a graphics API and will do very little for CPU use. I’m probably wrong so don’t quote me on that.

Not to mention, I’d rather that programming went towards making the game run better instead of looking better. In my opinion, the game’s gorgeous enough as it is. Make it run better than beta as some people have told me it runs like. Run like beta for almost a year and a half, where brute forcing CPU for frames per second is the only way to get maximum enjoyment out of the game? That’s just wrong.

Dx11 can do much more of the rendering it self indx9 it offloads several of the calculations to the CPU to create the base of it then the GPU renderers it in dx11 the GPU can just create and render the objects them self’s

Do you also have low fps if you go somewere like queensdale and restart uour game as if I vist la during a session it lowers my fps untill next restart

Anybody else notice lower fps numbers after visting some places Such as lion arch and fireheart rise

Get around 40-70 fps in normal areas untill I vist one of these places even after I leave I have a fps drop down a max of about 40 so it seemes something keeps running over from those areas as a restart of The game fixes this untill you vist them again and get lower fpw once again

The problems is notnwith The gpu through so drivers won’t help ut is a cpu issues no processor is fast enough to run The games bad coding

you do know lots of these issues also occur with windows issues with trading post are common for me poor fps in many areas also common

Try increasing the size of your windows page file

Me too I’ve also dropped about 5-10 fps and about 15-20 in normal areas since wintersday

i also had a post deleted today supposedly fro insulting a member and i know i didnt o that so…

i would say from reading a lot of these issues are from people with razer mouse and for a incredibility over priced mouse they must have lousy build quality

also check you have the windows page file enabled unless you have about 12gb of ram your system will use some of it it is the way windows is designed its under
advanced system setting -advanced- performance-page file have a min of 2gb set for it

Sounds like a driver issue try a differnt driver or at least a reinstall if The driver

An i5 on average will be around 40-60% better at single threaded applications so will out perform on gw2 a fair bit

in general game areas you should be able to to allthrough it will allmost certintly drop in large events such as behemoth and places such as LA due to ammount of people

even with the i7 at only 2Ghz you will not see a massive fps boost the game is highly cpu bound so in need a strong single thread performance and 2ghz dosnt give that much of that you defenitly wont get shaddows without a good performance hit nr reflections these both use a lot of cpu power minus them on lower setting it shouldnt bee that bad through
