I am taking my breather during the SAB content addition. It’s not that I dislike SAB, but the major reason I did it before was for obi shards and not so much total enjoyment of the content. The ascended weapons/crafting to 500 has left me disappointed and disheartened. My guild left en masse over a couple of the issues on the latest patches.
I log in to do the dailies and kind of wander around. I do a scarlet invasion if one pops up. Or I log into a little alt to level and not worry about all the high level gear I won’t be getting for my mains.
I wouldn’t call it burned out yet. I would say it’s just a loss. I’m a little too low on time, a little too low on mats, a little too low on gold, a little too low on guildies.

The game has changed and my playstyle is not really supported any longer. (Multiple main characters, changing builds/gear to refresh the older characters, getting max stat quickly as possible and then work on cosmetics slowly)
I don’t want to give up or give in just yet. I have accepted it and am going forward. It just feels like such a slog compared to the wonder and enjoyment it once was.

instead of 1v1 me you ran back to your camp and surrounded you self with guards and Hyleks.

I was the thief that murdered you while you were in that camp, you go revived by a scout and set up a ballista and then got murdered again later.

Put all the details in next time buddy.

Yep, there’s a ton of thieves on SF. Have never seen so many, lol. And they all travel in packs of fours it seems.

I had a nice little 1v1 going with a SF thief, it went on for quite a bit, and then his three buddies arrived and interrupted our fete. So rude :p Would have liked to seen how that ended on its own course.

Im one of the roaming thiefs that tend to run solo. I havent been on much since thursday.

We have a nice amount of bad commanders over here a SF. So just think it could be much worse for yal if are good commanders were on more often lol.

Also ET frequently tries to attack our towers so i wouldnt say they are picking on DR.

I dont like the extreme grind we have to do to get them and the fact that they are unsellable. Atleast let the mats be sellable like all the other mats in the game. I understand legendaries being a grind but ascended?

You want to put a chat box in the middle of my screen during wvw(pvp). That doesnt sound like a bad idea to you at all?

I had fun in IoJ’s BL earlier fighting a mesmer, warrior and ranger on my thief. Eventually they got tired of not being able to kill me lol.

I made 30g off of 5 traveler runes so it was a good day for me.

Yeah rangers were awesome during beta. I mained a ranger in gw1 and i made one during headstart and had to stop playing the game shortly after beause of life reasons. I come back and rangers is one of the most hated professions and pets suck. Traits arent that good. But i still main ranger.

I think some of you need to actually try playing thiefs rooming/zerging. Using a shortbow and auto attack and 2/4 skill is great in zergs and defense. (Thief is my main WvW class)

Some of you dont understand what a zerging really is, ultamiatly it doesnt really matter what class you use, as long as you have more people than the other zerg, you win. Thats it.

Finally the best WvW class is the one your best with. You can roll a warrior/guard/ele and be horrible and roll an engie and dominate.

I dont even want to talk about rangers, i still love them (its my main) even in the sad state they are in.

The long answer is there are roaming builds for many classes, though Thieves have a unique niche as the quintessential troll class of all MMO’S. Your going to be painted into a corner that forces you to use stealth in high doses and an extremely high concentration on direct damage. The condition meta isn’t in favor of thieves even with the addition of Torment and Runes of Perplexity, it’s basically spike it and stealth away if roaming is your thing. It’s very effective and I’ve personally seen a 10k cloak and dagger, followed by a 20k backstab against a little over 2k armor (by being on the receiving end).

As for picking a server, it really doesn’t matter anymore. Match ups are randomized so we’re seeing tier 3 servers tossed into the mix against tier 1, or say a tier 5 against tier 3. Just absolutely imbalanced match-ups with winners and losers that are determined as soon as the matches are generated.

Ignore server WvW focus as your selection criteria. Just pick one you can go have fun on. Ranks are meaningless and any victory your server gets will be hollowly won against weaker servers, and any losses are excusable against obviously stronger higher tier servers.

I just came back too and that about sums it up.

I agree, on Sorrows Furnace we are always outnumbed, never get good match ups. Im thinking about transfering back to SoR where i started at during headstart.

They need to buff pets and make some of the skills like the ranger skills in gw1. In Gw1 we had a ton of great skills(Well really there was a ton of skills period). My pet was actually usful to me on that game. We had better bow skills. To whoever said theifs have better SB skills then rangers on this game you absoultely right.

I rolled a ranger during headstart and got him up to 80 but this class really needs work. Most of the traits are usless when you compare them to other classes. Rangers really are kinda pointless in this game and i hate saying that since ive been a fan of them since gw1 and they are my mains on both games.

i bought 6 early today when it was only 1.3g so right now if i sell them for 5g each i made nothing but pure profit. But ima wait and see if the prices jump on tuesday

I really think Dragonfire.6382 might be onto something here. Perhaps this is a defense of sorts against botting or a hacking/duping strategy involving disconnects. I’ll see my wireless connection in Windows 7 momentarily go “yellow” and then it is back again, no problems. However, the connection to GW2 is pretty much fubar as you all know (black screen, music still plays) and no reconnect option outside of Alt+f4 & restart. Personally, I notice the disconnects at certain times (hourly) or during AFK but this could be just anecdotal for me. A lot of people are quick to blame ANet (and, yes, it would certainly be nice to hear from them) but it could just as easily be one of those stealthy Windows updates as well, as Dragon mentioned.

Lastly, I should mention that not only does it happen in GW2 but I have been doing some daily ZM/ZBs back in the original Guild Wars and have been getting code 58’ed there as well. I have been disconnected more in the past week from GW1 than I have in the previous 6-7 years of playing the game (and, no, I am not exaggerating). The “attempt reconnect” has only been 50/50, too, even.

UPDATE (7/20/13):
Okay, so I managed to fix my own problem or at least work around the issue. For my own personal experience, I noticed I was getting disconnected hourly, like clockwork, but at different times everyday. This lead me to investigate my wireless connection and turns out my router’s DHCP lease assignment was… you guessed it, hourly. I just changed it to 24hrs. It is still strange because it never used to happen in GW/GW2, but I guess it was part of an update in the time I took away from the game. I know this won’t help everybody but hopefully it helps a few in my boat!

my DHCP was also set to 3600 seconds somehow, not sure when that happened but ill report back if it works.

Well this actually just happened again a 5:12 while i was in a story mission. Doesnt seem to be tied to the events.

It just says could not contact the log in server and goes to black screen

I figured it out with the help of another post. My DCHP was set to renew hourly, I changed it to daily and it fixed the problem. Im not sure how my DCHp got set to hourly but whateer

I just want to say thanks to the GW2 team, the email authentication just prevented someone from Liaoyang, China from logging into my account. Im not sure how they got my password and I was wondering since I just changed my GW2 password, does that change my original gw pass too?
