OK. I hope so. It’s a nightmare.
Before this update, I had free starter town clothes for my characters. So whenever I’m out of combat like in town, I could switch to my town clothes.
Now I can’t even do that. Instead, I found this weird item that takes up a slot in my severely limited inventory. You can use it infinite amt of times. It casts a spell that puts town clothes on. But it only last 15min. So you have to keep using it every 15min.
Is there anyway to fix this? It worked fine before where I had a separate section for my town clothes. I don’t want to use up an inventory slot just for an item that casts a spell just to wear town clothes. And just for 15min makes it worse.
I can’t seem to find any interface to trade with another player. Such as in every mmo game. I don’t get it.
Like other than putting stuff in the BLT for public auction, there’s no way to trade with actual players?
Good Post, +1
Thanks.
OK. So it’s actually the same outcome so I might as well use the lower level recipe.
However, is there a difference if I set the same rune into different armor?
Like I crafted that rune for my level 5 armor. So when applying it to level 30 armor, does it have better effect or give the same effect as it did on the lvl 5 armor?
What is the purpose in trying to even the balance of player wealth? This isn’t real life where rich use poor people for labor and service. What is the justification for this in a game?
Who cares how much game money a player makes? Players who spend way more time in the game are easily going to have way more money than players who don’t play as much. All players coming into the game start with 0 gold, and will have far less money than players who have been in the game since release. Who cares?
Likewise, if somebody starts the game, and plays once per week, he won’t level as much or have as much gold as a player who plays every day.
I’m about to be level 24. The fact that many players are max level with tons more gold than me doesn’t really affect my ability to play, level up, and make lots of gold the same way as those who have played for a much much longer time than I have.
It also depends on activity. Somebody spending most of their time adventuring or playing PvP/WvW all day won’t have as much money as somebody crafting and playing with the BLT all day.
Some players play on the BLT because it’s fun and rewarding to make lots of gold. I personally find it a fun and enjoyable part of the game. Some players enjoy running around the train thing all day which I find to be anything but fun.
I guarantee you that somebody playing on BLT will make more money than somebody running around the train. Yet will not gain nearly as much XP or level up remotely as fast.
The idea of trying to even out wealth makes no sense if it’s up to each player how they want to build their character, and how they play the game. If they want to play WvW, PvP, adventure, fast level, great. They will level fast, and build a high level character. If they want to make lots of gold, they do the things in the game that will make them lots of gold.
There’s a huge pleth of characters of different levels and different income all around. All regardless of any players who have leveled up to the top or made a million gold. Most of the players in the game will be poor because that’s how the game starts you out and continues to provide opportunities for gaining and spending gold.
If you want to spend all day crafting and playing on the BLT, then do it, and make millions of gold. If you want to spend all day adventuring and playing PvP/WvW, then don’t complain about others who are massing up way more money then you. Because you could be doing the exact same thing they’re doing to make lots of money in GW2.
Yes real life is completely different. There definitely needs to be something done to stop the rich from destroying the planet and human lives all over the world. However, in game, this isn’t an issue.
I have enjoyed all aspects of the game thus far including how the BLT operates to give me the ability to make extra money by making it easy to buy gear from other players or sell garbage that I find or craft to other players. I even spent 95 silver on gems in hopes of selling them when they eventually increase in value (which turned out to be really dumb/terrible way to make money because of how long it will take for the price to rise enough to profit beyond their unnaturally enormous spread).
(edited by crimlet.9872)
I just saw that the tonic can be used indefinitely. So having 3 of them doesn’t matter because they’re infinite. However, they only last 15min before you have to apply it again. This makes no sense.
(edited by crimlet.9872)
First of all, I spent a pretty long time trying to figure out how that Black Lion Armor guy worked because he said he would exchange my town clothes. Which completely confused the hell out of me because my town clothes were gone after the game update.
My former town clothes allowed me to appear in normal town clothes without ever having to take off my gear. Like while in the city where I end up spending half the time because of the way the game is set up. Or into a small town in the outskirts where I could just fast-switch to town clothes on the fly.
After the big update, I encountered 2 problems:
1. I now have to take off all my weapons and armor off, and use up slots in my inventory/bank.
2. I now have absolutely nothing on but my underwear. wtf?
The only other choice other than that was to run around with all my gear showing even though I’m not out in the field. All because I don’t have any town clothes to cover it up.
After talking to many many players, they assured me that what the dyslexic Black Lion Armor guy meant to say is- “I’ll give you a tonic for every piece of town clothes you used to have.”
The good thing a player introduced me to was the “outfit” slot where you can wear an outfit on top of whatever gear you have on regardless of whether or not you’re in combat. This is great. That is how things should be.
OK so I did it the ‘exchange’ thing, and I get these 3 tonic things. But then the tonic says it only lasts 15min. This makes no sense so I haven’t consumed any of them. So by consuming a tonic, my character will appear in a full set of town clothes? So what happens after 15min?
What am I supposed to do?
What if I need them on less than 15min? Like for 2min?
What if I need them on more than 15min?
What if I need to switch more than 3 times? I have to keep buying tonics?
Or does the look I consume end up going into my list of outfits so I can put it on from there anytime?
And seeing as he runs the bltp, the costs should be recovered there by increasing the tax by 1% instead of from champ bags and other parts of the game.
What for?
Regarding the loot, the more loot players can get, the lower the value of those items. The easier items are to obtain, the less fun the game overall. Which is why it might be a good thing that they’re limiting it whether the armor repair cost went free or not.
But the real question is, what does increasing tax on TP accomplish? It won’t exactly help the players trying to make money on TP. Nor will it help lower prices that sellers set on items for players shopping on it.
Too much loot also means more players selling that loot on the TP making it easier for players to just buy it off of the TP. Really rare gear should be just that. Rare as in difficult to obtain. Either find it while adventuring, or do what it takes to make gold to buy it off of the TP.
I know a guy who has 300k+ gold atm. Wouldn’t mind seeing him get taxed. :P
Why tax a ‘rich’ player? This isn’t real life where rich use poor people for labor and service. What is the justification for this in a game?
Who cares how much game money a player makes? It doesn’t affect anybody else. Somebody is making a ton of gold doesn’t affect other players. Not to mention they’re doing something in the game that all players have access to in order to make that gold.
Like don’t expect to be in WvW all day while another player is crafting and selling garbage all day. And playing the TP all day. Then say that player should be taxed. Anybody wanting a ton of XP can do the same thing as players who get a ton of XP. Anybody wanting a ton of gold can do the same thing as players who get a ton of gold.
Some players “play the BLTP”. Perhaps because it’s fun and rewarding to make lots of gold. I personally find it a fun and enjoyable part of the game. Some players enjoy running around the train thing all day which I find to be anything but fun.
Why does it do that? The more advanced recipe doesn’t change anything?
So any lvl-0 leatherworker can craft Minor Rune of the Thief.
Then when getting to lvl-100 there is a different recipe that uses more expensive higher level ingredients. But it seems to craft the same thing:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Minor_Rune_of_the_Thief
Does it really craft the same thing?
LVL-0 INGREDIENTS (roughly 4.5 silver)
1 stretched rawhide leather square
2 crystal sliver
LVL-100 INGREDIENTS (roughly 21 silver)
1 cured thin leather square
1 crystal fragment

Funny, I was just reading a thread where the complaint was that leveling was sooooooooo slow.
I guess it is just a matter of perspective. /shrug
Really? Because I’m having the complete opposite experience. It’s frikin really fast.
4. I guess I should just add to this thread instead of start a new one. I noticed this during the very short time I was able to play at the time of release. Now that I’m back starting over from scratch, I’m having a similar experience. That is leveling up way too fast.
It just seems like there should be double even quadruple the experience required to get to the next level. It’s not just flying through the game way too rapidly, and missing out on doing missions that you no longer have to do because you’re at a new level.
I craft and replace all my armor, weapons, jewelry every 5 levels. I noticed that it takes more time for me to price ingredients, and do some crafting than it does to go up a level or 2. While crafting can be pretty tedious and time consuming at times because I always have to do calculations offline, actual adventuring is the complete opposite. You don’t actually have to do much on whatever level you’re at before suddenly getting to the next level. Before you know it, you’re 5 levels up, and it’s time for another gear switch meaning time to go home for crafting all day.
I really don’t mind spending the time crafting. But it would be great if the ratio between the time it takes to craft and the time it takes to go up 5 levels would be much wider. Meaning players would be spending much more time with the current set of gear they just started using before it’s time to go back and craft the next set of gear.
Of course, people who are just trying to fast level or don’t pay attention to how they gear up their character might not really care about this. But for players who are actually trying to experience the thrill of the game in all aspects, leveling up so fast is really not the same experience as stopping and relishing the roses of great content that each level has to offer.
I’m really confused about where this thread that I made is supposed to go. I can’t reply because it was locked. And the mod put a link that lead to the forum home page.
The thread was meant to clarify how the wardrobe system works since it’s really complicated. There were some really good replies in the thread. Not sure where to continue the discussion.
So without creating duplicate post, I figure I’m supposed to post the link to the thread here?
So I’m no longer part of that guild. They are actually very abusive.
Somebody in the game told me to do a bug report because there was a mask in my lvl15 armor set that wouldn’t unlock even if I put it on. And it didn’t have the option to unlock by r-clicking it. All other pieces in that set did have the option, and were able to unlock.
OK Thanks so much for clarifying. My guild was being pretty rude about me asking and I think even kicked me out as I’m no longer in the guild. It’s a simple question with answer that makes alot of sense.
One thing is that I haven’t logged onto my pvp character in a long time. Yet on my main character, the pvp chest thing appeared, but no other pvp gear. I didn’t even know what it was at the time because it said guild chest or something. So when I asked, they told me it was from pvp section.
Well I have only gone into pvp mist with one character, and that was a while back. But that piece still appeared on my wardrobe bank. However, others didn’t appear.
I went into my wardrobe bank, and saw some of the items I had equipped in the past were unlocked. Yet some of them were locked. Of the locked ones I was able to unlock them by equipping them again. However, certain locked ones, I had already sold.
I just don’t understand why those were locked even though I had already equipped them in the same way as I equipped the ones that were unlocked. Just like the ones that were locked, none of the ones that were unlocked were in my inventory as I haven’t used them in a long time.
It’s extremely simple. Whatever items I want to apply to my character stats, I equip into the armor section. If my wardrobe section is empty, whatever is in the armor section is what will show. Whatever I items I want to appear on my character, I equip in my wardrobe section. And neither section has any effect on the other.
GW2 seems to do it completely way more complicated than other games, and not really explaining certain things. For one, there is a list of gear on the left of the wardrobe section as well as a new section in your bank for item skins. Whatever you equip in the wardrobe section doesn’t actually get equipped in the same way as other games.
It gets fused to whatever piece of armor you have equipped underneath. So it’s not like other games where you can be naked underneath with nothing equipped in your main armor section, and still be able equip whatever the hell you want in your wardrobe.
In GW2, you have to put something on in the main armor slot if you want to equip something into that slot in the wardrobe section. When you do equip something into that slot, you have to use some kind of item spell. Not sure what it is. But you’re not actually equipping it. You’re changing the look of the piece of armor you’re wearing underneath. It’s totally confusing.
For example, if you want a lvl15 helmet to appear on your character. You cannot just equip that lvl15 helmet into your wardrobe section. Nor can you do anything in your main armor section without it having an effect on what you have equipped in the wardrobe section.
For example, you have a lvl20 helmet on in your main armor section. You equip a lvl15 helmet in the wardrobe section. That lvl15 helmet you have on gets fused to the lvl20 helmet you’re wearing underneath. Now you get to lvl25, and want to change the helmet in your main armor. So you take off the lvl20 helmet. As soon as you do, the lvl15 helmet you have equipped in the wardrobe section will no longer appear because it’s attached to the lvl20 helmet. Equipping the lvl25 helmet in your main armor section will not even make that lvl15 armor show up on your character like it’s supposed to because of being equipped in the wardrobe section. Instead it’s still no longer equipped. Therefore, the lvl25 helmet is what will show on your character.
I don’t know why this game has to make it so complicated. Why not just equip whatever you want in the wardrobe section, and that is what will show on your character regardless of what you do in your main armor section?
Also don’t listen to players who keep telling you to just hit apply as if it will work to equip something in your wardrobe regardless of what you do with your armor underneath. It won’t work. Once you hit apply, it only affects the piece of armor you’re currently wearing.
(edited by crimlet.9872)
I spent all this time trying to figure out how the wardrobe system works. Continuing to be told by certain players for an hour to just hit apply, and that will equip a wardrobe item to a certain slot. Not doing it because it didn’t look like it would work that way. It looked like hitting apply would only apply the look of the wardrobe item to what I’m wearing underneath. But then players telling me a multitude of different things.
Other games do it extremely simple. In fact I was surprised to not see a wardrobe section in GW2 when it released. Now that it has a wardrobe system, it’s completely different and way more complicated that how other games work.
In other games, your main armor section and your wardrobe section are identical. There’s no list or anything of gear you have acquired in the past. Just like in the main armor section, as long as you’re at the proper level for a piece of equipment, any gear you find can be equipped into the wardrobe section. Meaning it actually gets equipped out of your inventory, and put the relevant slot in the wardrobe section.
If you wardrobe section is empty, whatever you have equipped in the main armor section will show. Now if you equip something in a slot in your wardrobe section, that is what will appear on your character in place of whatever you have on in the armor section. For example, if you have a lvl50 helmet on in your main armor section, simply equip a town hat in the wardrobe section, and that town hat is what will show on your character. Equip a lvl10 helmet into the wardrobe section, and that is what will show on your character. But the lvl 50 helmet that you have on in your armor section is what is actually giving your character your stats.
Quite simple. The whole point is that nothing you do one section will have an effect on anything in the other section. You can equip ANYTHING in the wardrobe section. Various armor, town clothes, various looks that are sold in the cash shop. Whatever it is, it has no dependency on what you’re wearing in your armor section.
For example, put on a full set of town clothes on in your wardrobe section at lvl 1. Continue to change armor in your main armor section as you level up. Even take off all your armor if you want. As long as you have the town clothes equipped, that is what will always show no matter what you do in the main armor section. You don’t even need to have anything equipped in the main armor section in order to equip gear in the wardrobe section.
You equip and remove various gear in your main armor section. Whatever you have equipped in your wardrobe section will always show. You can equip and remove various gear in your wardrobe section. Whatever you have equipped in your armor section isn’t affected.
Thanks. Those graphs tell alot. In fact the upward trend of the exchange rate is pretty drastic. Makes me not feel so bad about buying 10 gems today. Rate per gem might go down some tomorrow, but it really looks like the rate will eventually continue to climb. The profit for selling back 10 gems probably won’t be that much, but it’s pretty fun.
So it does in fact seem like the exchange is definitely not with the developer, but with gems/gold from other players. Also it seems like the prices are determined by the developer. Not giving players the ability to set their own prices like in the item auction.
I thought gems bought with game money can only be bought from other players. So the game can’t create gems in the same way it can create items when you buy them at the vendor. Don’t the gems have to come from other players? Meaning that all the gems in the game originated from a player using real cash money to buy them. And every gem for sale is in some player’s account.
I don’t really get it. And I can’t seem to find any YouTube video explaining how the exchange works and the fees. If players can’t set the price for how much they want to sell their gems/gold for, it has to be set by the developer.
So basically, players can buy gems for real money. If they want to use those gems to buy gold, they can only sell them to players who want to buy gems with gold. However, they can’t set the price of how much they want to sell their gems for. Therefore, the price has to be set by the developer. A player can’t input any price he would like to sell his gems for. He has to sell his gems for whatever price the developer has been set by the developer.
Likewise, based on that price, the price of buying gems for gold would be set at a higher price so that a portion of gold is sunk. The wiki doesn’t really explain the fees involved on both ends.
Thanks. I really wasn’t so much worried about being able to place buy/sell orders as much as figuring out how prices are determined without that ability in place. Because there’s a chart there that only shows like the past week or so. So I guess the developer just determines how much they want to set the prices even though the buying/selling of gems is between players?
or spending their time in this thread asking JS and others who may be privy to it for specific metrics and outlining how it will help further their case.
I’m still staying out of this because I realized awhile back that none of you are actually interested in discussion, but I’ve been still following things and just wanted to point something out.
People did, in the beginning, ask for specific metrics from JS. They asked for a graph of the current distribution of wealth. Specifically Nike asked for it, and I seconded the motion, and a few others as well. JS never responded, and the rest of you said “No, denied”
This all could have been put to rest long ago with that wealth distribution chart. We could have known:
1) Is there a disparity of wealth
2) If so, what is the severity
3) How does that severity line up (who is it making the most and least in terms of activities)
4) Where is the median (?) and as such, the “average player”
5) How much is that “average” player making in a day
6) How does that amount compare to current prices, the rate of inflation, and the idea that the goal post is constantly moving for a segment of the playerbase, creating a sense of futility and leading to a lack of funThe metric was asked for, stop acting like it wasn’t. You cannot go: “Prove X, and if you can’t, detail the metrics you need in order to better do so” after that metric has been earlier asked for and you responded “No, you aren’t allowed that information”
The moment you respond “no” but continue to demand proof while also then saying “what metrics do you need” after having said no to said metrics is the moment that you are willfully and actively impeding any progress that could be made to reaching actual discussion.
If you actually care about discussion, then a wealth distribution chart is needed. If you don’t care about discussion, then by all means, keep demanding proof while also telling everyone to detail the metrics they need, and then denying them said metrics.
I am now going to go back to lurking. Good day.
Who is the richest player in GW2 in terms of in game currency?
How are the prices determined if nobody is setting orders? Just by the developer checking on the activity of players buying and selling gems to each other?
He propose increasing the fee to trades by 1%? It doesn’t really specify that in the OP. If that’s the case, it makes no sense. Why would you want to increase the fees you would have to pay? In fact, it would be nice if the fees were decreased so players can make more currency for the junk we sell.
As a means to punish TP Barons. The logic was flawed.
Punish for what? TP is open to every player. I’m very happy that anytime I get some drop in the field that I don’t want in my inventory, I can immediately throw it on the TP, and get real money for it rather than having to go to vendors every time I full up just to sell it for chump.
Why are they increasing the fees for trading by 1%? I don’t even see that part in the upgrade description for tomorrow. That’s not fair to players selling on Black Market Trading Post. It’s bad enough you have to pay money to come back to life after dying instead of some other penalty. I’m fine with armor repair cost. It seems logical penalty for dying. You die, come back to life for free with your armor, but it’s damaged. You have option to pay to get it repaired. What makes no sense is paying to come back to life.
And this is a good example how the mayority of uninformed (no offense to crimlet) players would react to a change like this.
It’s a backwards change. Your making it harder to make money. It’s nuts. My proposition from the time the game came out was that I was surprised they didn’t do like they did in Diablo where players can actually sell their in game currency for real money while the developer takes a cut of the profit. That would be really great for players and makes money for the developer.

1. So when I go to the trading post, it makes no sense how it’s set up. I can’t enter 1 gem, and see how much it cost me. I have to keep entering different amount of silver to figure out how much 1 gem will cost. Same the other way around. The interface is backwards.
2. How can I set orders? Like say I want to buy a gem when the price goes down to 15s. How do I put 15s in there so that when the price hits 15s, my purchase goes through?

1. So HRTs can pretty much be soloed as soon as you get to the lvl of the HRT. Sometimes it’s better to wait to get to a lvl above if your gear isn’t that great. Same goes for personal story.
2. All basic gear for every 5 lvls can be bought at the local weapon and armor shop. It’s the exact same gear from start. Just lvls up by 5 as you reach those lvls. Crafting gives you XP as well, and you can also make better gear than you can purchase at shops. Crafting also has its own skill level.
3. Skill challenges can usually be soloed.
4. Grab everything on map – waypoints, poi, vista, hrt, skill challenges.
5. After completing the HRT for your level, doing some crafting, grabbing the map stuff, you still might not level up enough to proceed.
In this case, its time to party up, and do random events. Make sure nobody in your party is too far above your lvl because the level down system sucks. Higher lvl players can still be considerably OP for certain regions and events that supposedly level them down. Like to do a random event, calling in a lvl80 can pretty much complete it for you. So you end up getting all the xp and reward for doing barely anything.
It can be really annoying as there’s so many good random events that just need you to party with a few players of similar lvl to complete. Which is where some of the most fun of this game can be.
OK so do Trickery as primary trait line. Then Critical Strikes?
The skills cost different skill points – 1, 3, 6. Does it mean the ones that cost 6 are better?
Because I only have 3 utility slots. I’m thinking of just choosing 3 skills out of the ones that cost 6.
(edited by crimlet.9872)
I made it to lvl22 on my main character which is thief. I now created a brand new thief for use in PvP. I still don’t really understand how skills and traits work. So I use my alt thief to practice different skills and traits in the PvP zone. I know PvP builds and PvE builds are different. I don’t really mind. I’d just like to cater my character towards PvP build whether I use him in PvE or not.
1. It seems like you can’t activate traits like you can with utility skills on your hot bar? The traits just automatically activate when you do something or something happens?
2. I was looking to go into shadow arts for traits which seems to be about cloaking. So I figured the skills I would equip would be related to that line of traits. Not sure if this is good for dual wield pistol.
I picked the following:
SLOT 6 – Hide in Shadows (for healing)
SLOT 7 – Shadow Refuge (utility skill for stealth and healing)
SLOT 8 – Blinding Powder (the only stealth utility skill)
SLOT 9 – Ambush (because it summons NPC thief – there were no more actual stealth skills to choose from, so this seemed pretty nice)
SLOT 0 – Thieves Guild (also for summoning)
So this build would pretty much make my thief geared towards summoning and shadow arts while killing with dual pistol.
SHADOW TRAITS
Last Refuge
Cloaked in Shadow
Meld with Shadows
Hidden Thief
Hidden Assassin
Shadow’s Rejuvination
ACROBATIC TRAITS
Expeditious Dodger
Fleet Shadow

3. SOME OTHER COMMENTS
I really like the WvW and PvP setup. WvW is an amazing game in its own right. Even aside from the entire actual mmorpg. It’s like a huge game on its own.
I really would have liked to see PvP be part of the open world. Like when GW1 was coming out, I found it really weird that a game called Guild Wars didn’t have PvP in the open world. I figured it would be all about open world PvP like Lineage 2 which I was playing at the time. Especially with your concept of leveling down players. Like if all players were on the same level according to their location/circumstance, then it would make for much more even ground for PvP in open world. You can be on missions where other players can just kill you. Or you could actually kill other players.
I know Diablo 3 had option for exchanging real money. I think they took it off. I never actually played that game. However, I was hoping GW2 would have something like that. It would be really great to be able to make actual money.
I really like the concept or regular releases, and evolving storylines. There’s so many great things about this game such as how the inventory works. The world is huge. There is so much to do and see. It’s such a great game overall. Mainly just please renovate/overhaul it for better graphics technology, and I would be soooo happy. I can just imagine how all your great art would come out if applied to much better graphics tech.
(edited by crimlet.9872)
I really like GW2. I actually alpha/beta tested FF14 in summer of 2010. However, I didn’t really play any mmorpgs after that. I was waiting for GW2 to come out.
1. GRAPHICS
I play at max graphics settings. When GW2 came out, I was so disappointed in the graphics. I think the art in GW2 and designs are probably the best I’ve ever seen. However, it seemed like the graphics technology wasn’t even on par with FF14 which I tested out 2 years prior to GW2. The difference is stark, and it frustrated me a lot when GW2 released that the graphics were nowhere near on par with the amazing level of artwork in this game. Not to mention nowhere near on par of other games that were out such as Skyrim and FF14.
FF14 didn’t have the best gameplay, but I really miss just being in those environments. As amazing and beautiful the art is in GW2, it’s just not the same in terms of the feel and texture of other games. GW2 just feels cheap and flimsy compared to others. A game with art as good as GW2 should be using much better level of graphics technology.
So please, at least for the upcoming expansion, consider what graphics are like in next gen 2014 games, and let us see GW2 completely reworked from the ground up, and outdo all these next gen games coming out using such amazing graphics like Unreal 4, Cryengine 4, etc.
2. GAME FLOW
I’ve had GW2 since release. I tested out a few different characters, and stopped playing after a month. Recently finally getting back into it about a year and a half later. I found out about this train thing that players have been doing in Queensdale.
It’s one thing to do something like the train if you are only interested in fast-leveling your character. Such as players who have already played through the entire storyline, and created a new character that they just want to grind to the top. However for normal gameplay, it’s something to stay away from.
Playing my human thief starts me off in Queensdale. After finishing HRTs for my level, some skill challenges, and some of my personal story, I get to a point where I’m still too low to continue to solo the next HRT, personal story, or do some skill challenge. I definitely don’t want to request some lvl80 to hold my hand through these even though there’s always many willing to help.
I try out some crafting, and it’s fine. But what I would really like is to party up with players of my same level, and do some random events, and even whatever HRT might be a level or 2 above me. What I don’t want is to party with players lvl80 or even players more than a few levels above me in order to complete these. If I could party with players close to my level, that would be great. But where are they?
They’re all on the train. Nobody seems to just play the game normally, going through HRTs, and enjoying the random events that come around. I didn’t even go to Kessex until I was like level 17 because I knew there was a good chance I’d have to solo whatever HRTs and random events I come across. Simply because of lack of similar level players to party with.
I’d just like it to be easier for players to party up, and do HRTs, REs, and skill challenges together. And leveling down high level players doesn’t seem to really level them down. They’re still really overpowered, and pretty much end up doing everything. Like I was trying fruitlessly to solo a Random Event. 2 high level players ran in, and completed it like it was nothing. I ended up getting the completion medal for that random event even though I didn’t actually do anything. It was just pretty much handed to me because 2 high level players completed it while I was just there. I got the xp/karma for it even though I didn’t really do anything. Just because 2 high level players swept in, and annihilated it. It was lame.
It would have been much better if I was in a party with similar level players, and us completing it together. But there’s usually not many players around in any of the regions that are on similar level to do these. Sometimes I’d party with 1 other player, and it still wouldn’t be enough to complete the RE.
HRTs are usually fine. I can usually solo them if I am same level or above. However REs tend to require help from others. I’m not sure what you can do to fix this. Maybe really leveling down higher lvl players so that they’re completely on par with whatever the level is for the circumstance.
When picking colors, the swatches are a different color than the color that actually gets applied. For example, the image attacked shows a brownish swatch highlighted. But when hovering over it, the label on the swatch says “red”. And when clicked, it applies the red coloring.
Every random event I’ve been in has been a large group of players running around scatterbrain feeling no different from soloing.
I’ve been in a party of 15. Get a quest to hunt down certain birds in a field of other types of birds within a time limit. It has sort of a scatterbrain feel to it, but alot of fun nonetheless. Even when we lost because some random player no in our party killed one of the birds that we needed. As we were trying to kill it.
Also quests where you pick up as a party, go into the field, to complete it as a party. Alot like the GW2 random events. But actually picking it up as a party, and completing it as a party.
Also I’ve been in instanced party quests. Where each person had a specific role to play. I was a clairvoyant so I had the ability to tell what was in certain rooms by looking at my radar. One person would send his pets in, another would run in next. Then the rest would support with healing and other tactics.
I know WvW is fought across multiple servers. And matches reset every 24hrs.
I can’t seem to find the match history. Or any stats regarding completed matches. As well as rankings the different servers. I’m not sure how many servers there are. And can’t seem to find where mine ranks in WvW.
I noticed some line items disappearing in the guild menu. Like for example the history list of player who joined or left. Some of the line items had lines on them instead of text.
I had to relog, and the text reappeared. But I think I still noticed some of the line items disappearing.
This is in Eredon Terrace. I forgot to report it while in game.
I don’t know if this is still happening. I went into the main WvW area this morning. The NPC was standing right on the spot where players were spawning in.
It’s the NPC guide. The one who gives new players the overview of WvW game play and a tour of the map areas.
Where can I find a list of all weapons and armor of all color grades? And perhaps other equipment as well.
I scoured the wiki, and couldn’t find anything.
What about quest that aren’t events that random players jump in on, and run amok yest still operating as a solo player?
What about for the type of quests where you make a party? Then get a party field quest or dungeon instance quest that require you to do as a party. Or like timed quests where they party has to complete it within the timer limit.

Are there even any party quests?

I’m level 9, and thus far the only quests I’ve done are my solo story and solo heart tasks in the field.
Then there’s the events that players in the vicinity jump in on all scatterbrained.
But it’s pretty much all soloing thus far. I haven’t yet found any I’d party up with others to complete.
Thief is a little more advanced, and requires alot of control.
You might want to start with Warrior.
In any case, a really good tip for anybody is to rebind A and D keys to strafe.
By default, A and D are set to rotate. Q and E are set to strafe. And you can hold r-click to strafe with the rotate buttons.
I started the game, and tried rebinding a/d buttons to strafe as that is the setup in most modern games. It was working pretty well for me. Then I found out alot of players actually recommend doing that. So I’m recommending it to new players as well.
Thanks so much for the people giving information on the a/d strafe bind. I wasn’t sure it was such a great idea at first. I’m really glad I did it now, and will stick to it. And will recommend it to everybody since you all explained it’s clearly the best way to go.
Honestly I think Areanet needs to improve the tutorial and add better description to skills.. some are SO vague!
Big time! When I posted something saying this game is the least intuitive game I ever played, some people argued that it’s really easy and intuitive. Probably if you just want to l-click hit and use some hot-key abilities. But there is really much that isn’t explained when we’re thrown into a big action sequence as soon as we first enter the game. With so much going on around that you can’t even pay attention to the tips that would pop up during game play.
Protector?
Message Body length must at least be 15.
“22. I suggest to turn ON auto loot in the options (you just spam “F” when you zerg instead of looting every corpse)”
Zerg?
One tip that seemed pretty useful to me was switching q/e with a/d. So instead of using q/e to strafe or a/d while holding down r-click, you have a/d set to strafe.
I know some other players that did the same thing. I’m not sure what most players prefer, but I think the a/d strafe is standard for most modern games. I set it when I started, and am now lvl 7. Thus far, it has worked very well for me.
