my 2 cents

p/p thieves need ricochet to be viable

drawback needs that heal buff that was promised

reduce cost for pistol 5, you nerfed it to by 50% without giving anything in return
actually MOST weapon skills need initiative reduction
currently no thief builds can even function without trickery line
heck almost every build rely on deadly arts + trickery

staff…there is nothing good about it besides the look…should have just went with rifle

I know about positioning as u can tell from my video
i’m just saying p/p is just not going to be able to compete with real builds
all the fights i faced were outnumbered, my teammates rotated really well
they were good matches that you won’t get majority of the time

imo p/p thieves are getting there but not quite at the right place
they fall somewhere between a roaming burst thief/ mesmer and a power ranger

and that’s a very small window

p/p is a single target sustained/burst dps build
it has more dps than a power ranger within the first 5 seconds of the fight
and more sustained dps than a meta d/p burst thief

but it doesn’t really do either job too well

p/p thieves are high value targets in any fight, the lack of range makes it easy to pressure thieves out of a fight
and the lack of aoe means thieves target will easily be blocked, by mesmer clones, ranger pets, other players, turrets, and its hard hard counter – mm necros
not counting reflects
it often forces thieves to move out of favorable positions to even hit their targets

compare p/p thieves to mesmers who attack from stealth with aoe burst and has access to invul
or ranger’s 1500 range with cleave
unload is a channeled skill that executes at a close range (meaning it’s easily countered and counter pressured)

in conclusion, p/p thief’s role is the same as current meta thief but a less effective
version

what it needs
riccochet – if it’s added in time, i promise to demonstrate it in the next tournament
900 range is just not enough for pierce to be useful
extended range – 1100 at least, 1150 preferred but i know many people would complain about that
reduced channel time – u can cut the dmg but reduce initiate cost and channel time
sometimes raw damage boost just isn’t the adjustment it needs…but deserves? (batman voice)

so i’m testing condi warrior dps

u can skip to the end to view the dmg tab when I bring it up

the first one I ran with carrion

so why does my phyiscal dmg tick higher than my condi dmg?

if that’s so, what’s the point of warriors playing condi?
my settler build literally no physical dmg modifiers while 900 condi dmg was spec’d into it

am I missing something?

I’ve been running into the same bunch of people with my alt characters as my main
some times premades, sometimes not

it’s painfully obvious that class specific mmr has VERY little effect on the match ups

please reconsider
it’s incredibly difficult to try and master a new class when i get bursted down everytime

i’ve been trying out new classes but I end up in the same games with people I find when I play my main

You know what they say darres, you are the common denominator to those losses

that just means you are valued too high as a member of the team
need better teammates or more equal opponents

1 or 2 losses, is expected

but when u go on a 18 game losing streak, something needs to be changed

I think the problem is the bad design. ’’It’s okay to lose because you’re supposed to lose, but you get rewarded for not getting completely destroyed.‘’ No one enjoys losing streaks and it’s really not motivating. You might see your points going up, but is it really fun to gain from games you can’t enjoy?

Sure, I’ll concede that there are off-times when the queuing population is low, but it’s a solvable situation. The algorithm could be made to wait longer, or to compress the MMR range it allows, and do so dynamically based on the queuing population (I know this won’t happen though due to dev perceptions and majority player perceptions on “how long is too long to wait”, but still…)

And then there’s quality of life issues that have the potential to increase the population, like being able to queue while outside the Mists, or unique pvp rewards, or elimination of hotjoin (but leave custom arenas the way they are), re-integration of solo queue, skill-based leaderboard ranking instead of time-based, and so on.

good ideas but skill based on leaderboard is…not the best factor atm

the match making is still messed up
i watch pvp streamers all the time
they consistently find players who are very close to my level
i’ve never seen those players before!

I should be paired/matched up with THEM

but some how, the game keeps sending me to these players who have 4k+ games
while give me a team that double or even triple cap a point

I wish an admin would take a look at my match history
he/she will realize there is something horrible wrong here

losing streaks with over 200-300 point difference

premades or solos ( specially premades)

my team is completely out gunned 9 times out of 10

I don’t care about your point system, i just want to have fun
the game is made in such a way that it seems to be OK to put mediocre players against high level
players because they don’t lose as many points

games are suppose to be played for fun, and you’ve managed to make it very frustrating

I know there aren’t many players in this game but for the love of everything holy please take a look at where you’ve put me

one glance and u can tell there is something very very wrong

skyhammer, turret engi, dishonor, mid air immob, class stacking, premade vs solo…need I go on?

some of these are STILL not fixed

they’re making it very hard for people to enjoy pvp

My last 2 days vs your last 2 days might be the most balanced fight we’ll see. I’m getting shredded by the MMR.

i had 2 games in which people would triple cap a single point after i had cleared it

After hundreds and thousands of matches, it is very visible that your MMR system functions as this:

  • Ten players que at the same time
  • High MMRs are 10, low MMRs are 1
  • The ten players qued look like this: 10, 6, 5, 4, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 1
  • System tries to balance two teams from these MMRs
  • Result looks like this -> RED: 10, 4, 3, 2, 1 --- BLUE: 6, 5, 4, 3, 2

This is not how the system works. The old solo queue worked like this, sort of.

The current system is more likely to produce a result like this…
Red: 10, 5, 4, 3, 2
Blue: 6, 4, 3, 2, 1

Which could be argued is less fair, but really because MMR isn’t the only factor this is an oversimplification.

As the current #1 guy on the leader board I agree with all of the above. Leader board is absolute trash and is in no way an example of skill.

It would help if we can figure out what is in common between everyone since no machines in-house reproduce this issue.
What arena are you playing in?
What map is it on?
What state is the game in? (Warmup, playing, postgame)

There have been mentions of this since the December patch, but nothing concrete has come up. It doesn’t happen to many people.
Maybe there is something different about your hardware, or the type of match you were playing in, or the specific data attempting to be shown on the scoreboard.

it happens to me and my friends too!

and it happens everytime
my hardware is solid
i7-4790k + radeon r9 270

we were 2 capped but that is waaaaay too early….

u can view the chat log, i couldn’t do in while in game, since i was still fighting

The fact that last refuge has been left as is just shows that they’re on their own agenda.

You all really need to pay attention to the stream vs just posting and complaining. EVERYONE needs to pick 3 specializations and go all the way in. Gone are the days of the 1-1-2-4-6 build or whatever random thing you created.

i absolutely despise that idea
it really takes away A LOT of build variety
there is nothing wrong with not spec fulling into a certain tree
there are just some traits that are more appealing than the others

i honestly wouldn’t use any of them given what else is out there

anything that are remotely useful are the grand master traits but then again, they are
really not all that appealing compared to some other traits

in addition, they moved ricochet trait to grandmaster and pistol mastery (+10% pistole dmg) is now gone

also furious retaliation is gone too

dps pistol thieves were unpopular to begin with, now they’ve just made it even less appealing

Even now, ctri strike trait line is bad, only reason people spec into it is to get executioner and the base states
with the upcoming changes it will be even worse
it’s just not worth using.

i’ve been reading up on the specialization notes

currently we have 13 traits in each traitline

the ones on dufy are missing 1 or 2 in each traitline
the numbers just don’t add up
for example, i can’t find “infusion of shadows” on teef anywhere

are they being removed or somethign?

it’s just that there are not enough players for simple match making system to work
anet has came up with this obscure system to try and compensate

i think maybe they need to put less emphasizes on players with high mmr
it’s very hard to carry when the rest of your team is getting rekt

They said they were going to extend this arena an extra month or two so they can gather up more data on the leaderboards.

The thing is… I really don’t want to complete 600 ranked games in order to be ranked up high on the leaderboards… that’s a bit excessive for me.

i know…i’ve always put in so much work into this
pretty obvious they didn’t consider about their players when they made this decision
if they just look at their data, u would see how many hours top 10(farmers, myself included) have put into this

i know several players who ahve stopped playing already
it’s like a constant reminder than u have to grind today
your interest in the game just slowly disappear everyday, it is no longer fun

specially with the turret engi team cheese

bet you anything they’ve lost many players already
and it’s just barely over half way
I can speak for quite of few guys i play with, we’ve all agreed to take a long break after this season is over

i really hope they end this already

turrets need a longer cooldown time after they’re killed
to compensate, you can reduce the cool down for when they are picked up

so engis have to save the turrets when it’s low

also, give a little bit of cast time so they can be interrupted when picking it up

add’s a little more skill to it

i even delayed my que times but they keep showing up
i know the system says I dont lose too many points if i’m predicted to lose but
it’s no fun to keep queing me up with the same people over and over again and then get rekt
