While I would agree that legendaries are like diamonds, but disagree that they aren’t that great for anything. I have all my gifts for my future Predator (with the exception of a couple of vistas in WVW and of course the precursor). It’s my final goal in GW2 to save my gold for the pre and finish her up. I don’t have the money IRL to buy it, but hopefully, it won’t be too long. Not a status symbol, but something I want one of my girls to have because she would look gorgeous with it.
Thank you Regina for submitting this feedback to the devs. Being able to skip thru dialog and/or cutscenes for multiple chars would be so much more enjoyable. Again, thanks!
Megaservers have wrecked server identity. The trait system as caused current players to double think whether or not to buy a new slot. The changes for new players (becoming in line with China’s current system) has truly made me not recommend the game to others. Nerfs in farming, zerg mentality, nothing new to do… MMORPG has a great article today on the changes coming in September http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/473/feature/8879/New-Players-Will-Have-It-Rough.html/page/1 The whole new player changes are discouraging, will be doing experiments with a couple of my nephews (7 & levelling now and after the patch (my grandson is only 2). Seriously Anet says rallying is too confusing for new player, and horizonal progression with traits encourages players to succeed and understand their chosen class. pfft. If I, a senior cititzen and neophyte to MMO’s (only played Spyro & Crash Bandikoot before) could figure it out and level 15 toons to 80, I’m sure that ANYONE could do so.
So, I’m wondering….do you think the Devs are being disingenuous when they explain why they chose this route instead of, say, adding a downed-mechanic tutorial to the intial starter instance? I mean, why would they say they tested several different ways of introducing the players to this mechanic, and found the results so surprising? What would they gain by flat-out lying about such a thing? Irritating the existing playerbase? Would that be their goal?
No, of course I do not believe Arenanet is being disingenuous about this. It does surprise me that others have had difficulties with rallying. Of course, each profession is different.
My suggestion would be either an in-game tutorial on how to rally, but more importantly that Anet would suggest GW2 wiki or You Tube for aspects of the game which may be confusing to new players (Those two resources were the best advice I’d ever received in this game – by other players). I am merely curious how my nephews will react to the game before and after the patch.
Not the biggest fan of minis or finishers, but hey! at least now I can delete of those Queen Jennahs

Well, I can’t see the logic in this new approach for new players to dumb down the levelling process, aside from the fact that it is the way it is in the Chinese version. If I a 60+ old woman was able to understand game play and the levelling process as a neophyte MMO player, logically speaking I’d bet EVERYONE would be able to do so. From the 4/15 trait system, to this new dumbed down Feature Pack I have ZERO reason to buy another character slot.
I absolutely love playing a ranger (I’ve 5 of them, one for each race, and also 80’s of every other class). Why? You have to really pay attention when playing a ranger, since it’s incumbent upon the ranger to keep their pets alive. Companionship when soloing map completion. I like that the class is an underdog as far as LFG dungeons go. RLots of survivability, not the best dps but the evades and animations are the best. There’s no press 1 until you’ve killed the mob.
Each class has it’s niche. Just find your own!
I’d guess Charr is least played, but I don’t know – I have a ranger for each race LOL
am a sucker for punishment. haha
There are no roleplaying servers anymore, as such, thanks to the melting pot megafailservers.
Not that there’s much RP about anyway. 8/10 nights I go to the known open RP spots in DR and they are empty because I’m not in the right shard. RP is pretty much dead for me now.
That;s incorrect. There are still RP servers: TC and Piken. The way that the megaserver works is that it puts you with other like-minded players/guilds. Starting out on either of these servers would most likely guarantee that you would have other RP players to interact with, especially if you are in an RP guild.
No, the Megazerger does not necessarily put you into the same server as one’s guild, sometimes maybe, but not all the time. I “was” on FA before MS rolled out and I rarely see guildies when they’re listed as in the same zone as I.
More importantly, To the OP, there are lists online of guilds that specialize in RP. I’d suggest you do a search, unless someone has a link. I was set to move to TC before (as in gems) the megaservers came about.
No, I saw Caithe both as a Sylvari and a human. When the PC addressed the world leaders she was standing to the right of the Pale Tree’s Avatar (Mother, if you will). Then when the Mordrem attacked I lost sight of her being a little focused on killing things. But, since she is a thief I’m certain that her powers of stealth are more pronounced than others. I agree, as well, about Caithe probably not being responsible, unless she’d fallen into Nightmare to be with Faolain, after her failure to get Destiny’s Edge back together.
The only 2 characters I’d wanted to visit with again, were Caithe and Trahearne, and was a little disappointed that Anet probably couldn’t get the voice actors back
OP: I felt the exact same way, even crying. I’d truly be crushed if she were to die, no other race has a maternal figure such as she. I’m guessing it reminded me of losing my own mother several years ago, looking at her frail body and wishing I could breathe life back into her. The only other time in game that I teared up was when one of my mentors, Forgal, sacrificed himself.
Death to the meat sacks, death to Mordremoth <smile>
It means that you can unlock episode 4 until they release episode 5, whenever that is. As long as you’ve unlocked part 1, you will be able to play. Whatever episodes you’ve unlocked, meaning downloaded and logged in, you can play (even skipping an episode). If you’ve missed logging in during any of the episode releases, you can buy them for 200 gems
It’s kind of nice the Living Story team fixes waffles for everyone there.
We just had the Festival of the Four Winds on May 20th of this year, so I’d imagine when they rebuild they’ll be back next year around the same time.
Well, they’ve (Ready Up)highlighted 4 professions so far, so you’ll probably find out within the next month what changes necros will get to look forward to. And then the feature patch will hit. I don’t foresee any additional LS episodes until November, with maybe one or two episodes thru the end of the year, then 3 during the first quarter of 2015. I agree with the Palador and fully expect alot of players to stop playing for awhile.
I’m kind of curious about where Halloween and Wintersday will be, hopefully not in the husk of a burnt, destroyed LA LOL
Interesting twists and turns to be sure. But what really caught my attention is that they’ll be taking an extended break after DRp.2 til sometime this fall, anywhere from a little more than a month to 4 months.
Lots of good advice, and I totally agree with Pixelpumpkin. The first time thru the map is the best, talking to NPC’s who may lead you to something else to do and will give interesting info on Tyria. Map completion in various areas, cities as well, will give some good loot including transmutation charges that you can use on your armor and weapons.
About the only thing I can add is if you’re stumped on getting a certain vista or point of interest along the way. You Tube can be your best friend. Search for say “GW2 Divinity’s Reach Map Completion” or vistas, poi and there are many guides to show you how to get them.
I want that guy’s GS, 80k maul!
Lest, we forget the mistfire wolf as an extra pet, and if we’re Norn we can turn into a Raven, Wolf, or whatnot.
I’d just like to have the opportunity to skip dialog on my alts.
My human ranger has the new ponytail style in Light Peach. It does have movement at the bottom of the ponytail, the ends sway whilst running, which is more than enough swaying for me. Since it’s a rather short ponytail situated on top of the head, I wouldn’t expect much movement IRL, as there isn’t a lot of weight to it to cause bobbing up and down. It’s probably my favorite new hairstyle.
There was a thread about older players earlier, but I can’t find it. There are lots of us. Just turned 61 last month, a grandma, and still plays GW2. Lots better than sittin’ on the porch LOL
No? Personally, I would want to know why I was kicked, and tips to prevent it from happening again. Then again, I’m just an old woman, playing a game with people who could be my grandchildren.
Then you are wise enough to know that you don’t know everything. Makes all the difference in the world.
Never said I did, kind of a rude remark.
It was a compliment. You demonstrated that you do not fall into a trap that all too many do. Kudos.
Mea culpa Ashen. I obviously took this wrong.
I was just trying to suggest that more seasoned players help new players out who may not know proper builds and the skills that each class has at their disposal. The example that Danikat gave so eloquently, demonstrated the best method of informing newer, less experienced players.

Never said I did, kind of a rude remark. My consolation is that no one here is my child.
C’est la vie.
I think if the kid is mature enough to play the game then let them, but monitor their game play also find a good family friendly guild with a strict code of conduct I was in one of these types of guilds in GW1 they had strict language rules in guild chat and in TeamSpeak most of the kids that played only played when one or more of their parents were on. Also teach the kid to have good gaming manners, there are a lot of kids on these games that shouldn’t be on because they have real bad manners and just plain rude.
Excellent suggestions Feirlista!
Monitor their play, amount of time gaming, their snacks, etc. as well as playing the game with them are important for a good experience for them and keeping them safe.

Yes, there is a lot of anti-ranger sentiment in this game for the reasons you posted Fyrebrand. Stack and bash is the way to go, sadly.
Those (esp. one who says they are a ranger) who kick other rangers might want to take the teeniest bit of their “precious time” to point those rangers they kick in the right direction as to optimum builds, if just to be nice. Tho, I doubt they will…
I don’t do pugs, never have never will. Know which class to take to each dungeon, and only do them with guildies and/or friends. Actually, I think I’ll try out the Ultimate Bearbow build Prysin posted on the forums (he’s an awesome ranger) just to see what will happen. <smile>
Agreed Danikat, it’s been 50 yrs. since I was 11. Sharing exp w/my dd’s tho, may be relevant. Barbie dolls were “86’d” by them by the time my girls were 9 or 10. One went into skateboarding/rollerblading/biking on the “boy’s” courses at that time, the other into video games (and still plays as much as possible at 23), as well as Magic/Pokemon games with her friends at that time, now into D&D and others. The video game player has been playing w/pc since she was a toddler sitting on my lap pounding the keys while I was online.. But it’s what she enjoyed, and I had no problem with it. As a side note, she introduced me to GW2.
GW2 is IMO perfectly suitable for an 11 yr. old, whether girl or boy. I see many PC’s who are obviously that age and slightly older , just from the mapchat, Kids that age are not naive for the most part. Maybe keep her away from the forums (which can be toxic <smile>) and monitor her game time, as any responsible parent would.
I have 15 and no Charr LOL. But, I’ll probably delete one of my 80’s to make a 5th Ranger to have all races as a ranger.
That said, the Charr storyline is rather interesting.
For the new players, it would behoove Anet to change the description as to Rangers being “unparalleled archers” , but perhaps they mean players can use both bows LOL.
The choice of bears was explained well before in this thread, including there is less micromanaging since bears have so much health. Each pet has its uses. Bears are tanky and easy to level with for newer players. The answer is because many of the so-called “bearbows” (I hate that term) don’t know any better yet.
I laughed at the remark earlier about the “press 2 to win” warriors. Seriously, if someone sticks with the class many will look for more optimum builds so the OP won’t be bothered so much by dungeon kicks of “bearbows”. And yes this is a play how you want game. There are several threads on the forums as to DPS ranks by class, so ask for what you want in a pug dg group. <smile>
This thread is so tiresome – OP go post this on the ranger forum.
(edited by dkspins.4670)
First Vigil, next Priory, the last 2 were Whispers – 4 Rangers all 80. Went with Whispers the second time to play w/my dd. Vigil has been my favorite thus far since I’m more of a jump into the middle of it type of player. Plus Forgal kind of reminds me of my departed father, gruff, tough with a heart of gold.
TIP: The events on the Henge of Denravi server are working perfectly. If the event isn’t working on your server, guest on HoD. That’s what I did to finish Episode 3.
Guested over to HoD, and same event (Svanir at Coiled Watch) was bugged as well as on whatever MS I was on before. From what I read on Twitter, they’re still working on another hotfix.
Just one more reason I love the Megaservers… not! LS1 had all open world events, yet I never recall this much chaos, nor problems like NPC’s or animals having guild tags in the past 18 months. The cap on maps is too high currently, 50 per map unless TeQ or Evolved Wurm is up.
Well after 5,022 hours on ranger and this is all ranger gets?
Rly? Apart from all these changes being pretty sweet, there are quite a number of them too. Don’t be so negative. I think this opens up some build variety. There are a lot of possibilities if you look past the longbow changes.
Yay you zerg runners will finally be able to sit in your zergs and be helpful. It doesnt change anything for spvp ranger. They will still get destroyed. This isnt anything to celebrate. Wait till all the other class buffs and changes come out and ranger will be right back in its useless spot.
kk, then delete your ranger casey. Ive spoken with you ingame, and you are one of the thousands that relentlessly paint a black picture of this class, but still miraculously keep playing it.
Now for once, stop insulting every ranger player there is and do what you tell everyone else to do instead, your negativity is not helping a darn soul. These buffs are well deserved, they are needed. Most of them have been asked for since forever, and if you fail to grasp how much this means to the average ranger player, then i can only conclude that you are playing THE WRONG GAME.Thank you ArenaNet, Thank you for listening to our wishes!
Not just myself, but most ranger players are HAPPY about these changes.
+ 1000 Prysin! Why would someone who obviously hates being a ranger spend 5k hours on one? (speaking to Casey) I love this class (have 4 lvl 80’s atm as well as 3k hrs. in 18months), and it will ALWAYS be my favorite. It’s challenging compared to the other classes and I’m ecstatic over the upcoming changes which hopefully put Ranger on par with other classes.
grumble – why do anti-ranger players post on the Ranger section of the forums?
/15 char – all classes lvl80 4-Rangers
Imagining Bobby sitting in his office, a flower in his hand, picking off the petals:
“We kill him…”
“We kill him not.”
“We kill him…”That’s exactly how it happened.
Please don’t take my buddy Trahearne, take that hag Queen Jennah who “called” Logan away from his obligation to his fellow DE characters, despite the fact that she could conjure up a dragon. <smile>
I honestly think Trahearne isn’t even that bad of a character. The extent of his negative aspects are how monotone he might sound to people, but that’s just his voice. I don’t base a character’s quality purely off their voice. There’s a lot of interesting things about Trahearne that make him unique, such as his quirkiness and nervous scholar attitude.
Another thing to note is he never once stole your story. The people who keep saying that are, in my opinion, utterly insane. At what point does he steal your credit? Only once really, and that’s during Forging the Pact.
Thing is, if I remember correctly, that fight was originally supposed to be a sort of duel, or at least that’s what the npc dialogue implied to me. However, ArenaNet decided to opt out of that and have the player fight it for some unknown reason? I personally interpret it as a mistranslation between gameplay and story. Something was off there, and it didn’t seem intended either.
As for every other moment in the PS, he basically grovels at your feet and is like “Oh, mighty player character, without you, the entire Pact would have failed! You are our HERO!” Meanwhile, the rest of the NPCs stand around and chant at you with the words, “Commander! Commander!”, reveling you as the hero.
Okay, maybe not exactly like that, but metaphorically speaking that’s how the PS came off to me as. Then again, I constantly double-click NPCs, even in the PS missions, and I read the dialogue window. If you don’t read the dialogue windows then yeah, it might appear like you’re not the most important, but reading the dialogue windows in each mission turns that entire perception around.
Agreed, Trahearne never does steal the PC’s accolades, and he sure as kitten didn’t want to lead the PACT, but the Pale Tree told him that he must be what “Tyria needs him to be” So the scholarly Trahearne had to step up to the plate because our (speaking as a Sylvari) mother said he had to. He had the connections previously from his pursuits of knowledge of ORR, and the backing of the Pale Tree, so when the PACT was forged he had to take the leadership role.
Thus, I truly don’t understand such hatred for him. Perhaps the Sylvari PS helps the PC to relate to him and to understand where he’s coming from, not sure. “This won’t end well” is perhaps his inner doubt coming out. tbh, I really like Trahearne and would love to see him play a role in the new LS. as a side note, I love his voice and accent.
From what I read Faolain was only corrupted by removing the poison that she’d given Caithe in the first place to force her to join the Nightmare Court, but it only rotted Faolain’s hand. This was in preparation for Destiny’s Edge’s confrontation of Glint, Kralk’s champion.
I’d really hate to see Trahearne die in this LS, having a Sylvari main and several other Sylvari toons. I truly don’t feel that he’s deserved all the hate he’s gathered. I’ll admit I don’t like it when he says “This won’t end well.” (a little confidence from him would have been nice LOL. But, he was only a scholar and was quite reluctant and unsure of becoming the Commander of the PACT forces as evidenced in the PS “A Light in the Darkness”. He doesn’t take away from the PC’s accomplishments, just happens to be in charge. As a side note my dd had a huge crush on him <smile>
I loved Season 1 for the fact that I could do events with lower level char – Queen’s Jubilee helped me level 4 toons to 80.
I can imagine this is a nightmare for the devs, but see which way they went with it. No “real” open world events before lvl 80. Oh well.
5.5K hrs 600 days, 1k tries in MF with nada to show for it. All ready for Legendary (well, except for for some WvW vistas. Not a single precursor, but would love to get one, esp. guaranteed LOL Will just keep trying <smile>
OP, try a different class other than the highest dmg class currently, say a thief, engi or ranger and then say cheeves are too easy. Maybe they will be too easy for you still, to that I say go play another game with raids like Wildstar.
For some of us the new LS2 ach’s are much harder than others have been in the past.
If you are a Sylvari PC, she still (as of yesterday)will call you her beautiful child and ask you if you were the one to deliver the killing blow against(which I was not <smile> then she tells you that your conscience should be guilt free and to venture into the world again. As I said in another thread I’m not sure how she will react to her “child” killing another child, Aerin, in the new LS2.
Am curious if a Sylvari PC says she did kill Scarlet how the Mother Tree would react.
I don’t hate mounts at all, yet feel that GW2 at this time really doesn’t require them due to the number of waypoints in any given area. It’s not like FF XIV where a player almost requires them since there is only one place within any certain map that you can travel to instantaneously. So, to me they are unnecessary at this time.
Additionally, in most games you cannot engage in combat whilst mounted.
My fave LB skin is Araneae from the last Halloween event, but at 215g, maybe not. Whisper’s Secret, Legionnaire’s, and Royal Ascalonian LB skins are nice. And, since you’re a Sylvari, the Warden’s LB, dagger and sword skins are perfect for us salads <g>.
I went straightaway to her, she continues to call me “my beautiful child” asked me questions about whether I was the one to kill Scarlett to which I replied “no, I did not” – she said that I could leave her presence guilt-free and to keep Ventari’s teachings in my heart. Which was interesting, had I been one of the PC’s to deal the killing blow, would she have rejected me for killing one of her children?
Edited: Now that my char has killed Aerin, perhaps in the future (after the patch) perhaps she won’t want to talk to me. hmmm…
(edited by dkspins.4670)
No re-design necessary for Shatterer, as well as a couple of other World Bosses. Since the Megazerger is here to stay, just limit the map to 20-30 players. Did Shatterer earlier with about 12 people and it was fun again.
(edited by dkspins.4670)
I saw the crystal prisons earlier today, in fact. It was rather a fun and exciting fight since the Megazerger only put about 10, maybe 12, of us in that particular map.
OP, I don’t know, I’ve both a Zerk Ranger and a Condi Ranger (and 2 others), and altho my Condi can survive longer, my Zerk will kill much quicker and I survive well . I only run dungeons w/my Zerk Ranger, Warrior, or Guardian.
I’d suggest posting this on the Ranger Forum, as there a several good number crunchers there, like Guang or Prysin. What build are you using? I’d love to test this out.
In the beginning of this LS, when Rox said she didn’t think Braham was weak, Taimi said “You thought it.”
“What?!”
“Oh, nothing.”
Not exact quotes, but close enough. I think that’s the root of the problem.
I think I remember that and it makes a lot of sense. Rox has taken it upon herself to be Braham’s caregiver after was injured. Given that she lost her warband she is being very protective of Braham—perhaps overly protective—now that she almost lost him too. Taimi thinks Braham can take care of himself and is ready to get back in the action. Rox thinks Braham should be taking it easy. That would certainly lead to some animosity.
The above, add the fact that Taimi is sort of a smart-alec know-it-all kid (tho I do really like Taimi) would definitely cause some animosity. Besides no female wants to be called “fat”. <smile>
Voted “I don’t bother doing them”, except to complete the personal story. I fail at timed aspect jumping (# of charges aspect jumping was okay in the Cliffs). I may do a few of the others, but the rewards are dismal. Not like last year, when completion of the LS1 episodes rewards were like “Gift of Sprockets”, (Candy Corn, and Quartz, infinite watchknight tonic, etc), now each little ach. gives a bag/box/cache of things I don’t care about having. My time is better spent camping out to kill the Nageling giant a few times a day to get the Slayer ach/title, doing world bosses, running a dungeon, even farming for items I do want.
5,558.5 hrs over 597 days across all characters, with 1,911 hrs. on my main. The first year I played an average of 13 hrs. per day, but I’m old, retired, and basically have no life LOL
