Haven’t a clue why they won’t just release SAB the way it was, so many liked it (not me). But it would keep folks occupied. Lunar New Year was meh… Gives me a reason to go back to FF XIV until HOT comes back (aside from logging in once a day to get the rewards.

Dragon Festival constructive criticism

Dragon Bash in June 2013 was such fun! The holographic enemies to kill, what 300 gave you a mini (not sure, but I got them all) Bashing Dragon effigies, the fireworks in LA were outstanding. Didn’t play DragonBall then, and don’t plan on it now, and certainly not going to sink a- bunch of gold that I’m saving into envelopes. Not to mention the fact that only the Chinese version of the game can get the mini dragon pet. Oh well. … I’d have rather seen SAB come back (and I don’t do that either)

The first year of festivals were absolutely amazing, open world content, nice loot/rewards, and tons of fun (didn’t even mind spending $ to WP all over Tyria) – Now it’s go to Divinity’s Reach, enjoy…

Game Updates: Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dkspins.4670

dkspins.4670

Anybody with a character prior to the system change has nothing to worry about, except for getting that last t3 trait, which isn’t a big deal since most are useless for most classes anyway.

Until they go to make a new alt or two. The way this was rolled out has dampened the outcry against it if they’d put everyone on a level playing field. If I’d had to unlock traits for my 11 level 80 characters, I’d have uninstalled.

Any character created since April will have all 65 traits to unlock. With the same 65 tasks. Including:

  • Zone complete Blazeridge Steppes for a single adept tier trait!
  • Complete obsidian sanctum for the fall damage reduction trait! (Yeah, that’s hilarious, guys…)
  • Kill the grub in wvw!
  • Complete a level 70 personal story step! (which is now actually level-gated, so you actually can’t even attempt this task until you’re ten levels above where the trait is unlocked)

I gotta say these requirements for the trait acquisitions are hardly incentives to “try” different builds, not to mention that they were afraid that newer players were distributing their traits incorrectly, like 11 in power and 14 in precision (what a crock!). After leveling 1 to 80, plus 3 more, still not 80’s, in this horrendous new system, I’ve been picking a build from level 30 and only getting those traits which I need, not by exploration, but paying for the traits for the most part (it’s easier). (wish I hadn’t deleted those 80’s to do it, tho). Not to mention the difficulty the current trait system has created for leveling Mesmers & Engineers, neither of which shine until they’re max level. (both of which I mistakenly am doing)

Best way to turn skill points into gold?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Google “gw2 skill points to gold” – there’s a website link in the reddit thread listed on Google that will let you know the promoting costs to reward per skill point – quite useful.

if its egg barons spreadsheet, it doesnt include common tier 1 to t2 promotion, which is usually the most lucrative promotion per skillpoint.

But for lazy people that cant be kittened to do some basic calculations by themselves, its quite useful, i guess.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0As-wCpIszrT9dFB3YjVUVFhfenlDUUpXTVBIdm5qWmc#gid=13

Thanks for calling me lazy (which I assure you I am not!) Was merely trying to help the OP. Sheesh!

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dkspins.4670

dkspins.4670

It doesn’t matter how you dress it up, some options that were there before aren’t there anymore now. Hollowing out the game, one feature per major update.

It doesn’t matter how you dress it up, it took considerably longer for me to get 10 points before, doing stuff I didn’t want to do in the process than now.

For someone going for 10 points a day I have more options now, because after I get those ten points (usually in ten, fifteen minutes), I have the rest of my day free to play.

That’s a whole lot more options.

You know Vayne, as I’ve mentioned to many other people in this thread: its really great that you are enjoying the new Dailies (seriously). However the fact that you like them is not in the least an argument against those of us who don’t. I, and many others, now have less choice that we like in the new Dailies. We are not advocating that your new choices be removed. We are advocating that we get our own choice back so that the people who like the new Dailies and those who preferred the choices in the old can be equal.

Anyone trying to either shut us up or tell us that our complaint is not valid is only trying to tell us that we are not equal in importance to them.

And as I keep saying only if you care about getting those achievement points which many don’t.

Not sure what your point is – obviously those of us who are discussing it here DO care.

I’m not denying that there are people dissatisfied with the new dailies. But I think that there are very very few people by percentage that are very dissatisfied and I think as people are getting used to them, most people are satisfied.}

This isn’t just about me and you. And you’re perfectly free to complain. I just don’t think there are that many of you by percentage and yes, that makes a huge difference.

First, you have no idea how many people are dissatisfied. And second, even if there are less people dissatisfied why does that matter? Its not a contest. Both groups can have what they want.

Sure, if they add more dailies and make it even easier, it won’t inconvenience me…but I’m still not sure Anet is willing to do it. I think they want you to do something for those points. Which is the point.

It’s Anet’s game, but I hardly consider viewing a vista one has seen several times, gathering half as many items (i.e. mining 3 nodes in home instance was 45% of the daily, and now those same 3 nodes give one 90% mining)or crafting an Exotic item, doing “something” for those 10 AP’s. LOL The 4 events in a specific zone give, what, a sip of karma and a couple of writs of experience.

I preferred the old way, and it’s predecessor as well, when 5 daily items would give on the wonderful jug of Karma, for 4500 karma. One of the constant original dailies was “Daily Dodger” which helped me to learn how to dodge and not stand in those red circles haha.

But, as I said this is Anet’s game and they will do what they will. I’m actually liking the separation of dailies, the end of monthlies (which I always got by the first week, and the introduction of daily log-in rewards. By the end of the 4 weeks, I’ll have made 60-70g buying heavy crafting bags, selling the mats and don’t even need to play one whit! That will give me time to practice the harp in-game.

I continue to play GW2 because it is pretty dang easy compared to other games, aiming not required, self healing, etc. Also I want to get the Legendary I’m all ready to craft, or something I can sell to get it as it seems the price goes up as fast as I can farm for gold, which takes longer than others, especially since I won’t do pug groups in dungeons, I do love the artistic quality of the game as well as the lore (including the LS). Besides, I want to see if my mother “the Pale Tree” survives <smile>

Question for those still doing dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

dkspins.4670

I only do them if it’s convenient for me to do so, since the only reason I did them EVERY day before was for the laurels. Sure, the 5 AP’s (not an AP hunter so I didn’t bother getting all 12 – only the 5 which were doable easily just by playing) were nice. But I’m quite able to get AP on my own (sitting at almost 11K). Now I’ll look at the daily choices, decide if I want to bother. Today I won’t bother, with 2 PVE choices being Fractals (bleh), and I’m strictly a PVE player. Had enough WvW 2 years ago earning a Gift of Battle and I don’t enjoy PVP. My time is better spent doing world bosses and getting those 1,000 Giants knocked off for the Slayer title. I understand, I guess, why they changed it, but the daily choices are limited. Besides the original daily choices a couple of years ago, like Daily Dodger, helped me learn. Anet’s choices, their game…

Please change dayly achievement points system

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

No, I disagree with you.I like the new direction and 100% support it.

The old system had 2 PvP, 2WvW and 6 PvE ones.
Now it’s 4 of each.
PvE players had a lot more choices… People in PvP and WvW had none. Now it’s 4 of each which brings the different mode on more equal footing.

So, the ones from PVE, such as daily kills, events, gathering, reviving, or recycling didn’t apply to any activities in WvW or PvP? I know there is gathering, events, reviving, and recycling in WvW, but not sure about PvP – (Did both enough a couple of years ago to satisfy any urge to do so again, plus I’m old and forgetful <g>)

After careful consideration, I’ve decided that this new system might be alright (although I’ve no idea about the laurel situation i.e. how many is in each bag – Laurels are the reason I do the dailies & monthlies) I’ll be able to log in shortly after reset, determine which the easiest 3 in PVE are to do as well as the best time to do them. Come back later if inconvenient, will have already gotten the “log in daily” reward done, then the 3 “dailies” in hopefully less than a half hour. Log out and go spend my time playing something else. Win-win!

I totally understand where you are coming from, and I’ve played the game for 2 years. The atmosphere in GW2 was much better in 2013, sadly and I’ve noticed that many do not want to help others as of late. This may be silly, but back then players would stop to rez NPC’s because it was the ethical thing to do. and not because it was a daily achievement. And, I can count the number of times that I’ve run dungeons this year on one hand, since 90% of my guildies left, and I refuse to use LFG.
It truly makes me sad that newer players are having issues like this, and I’ve seen more than a few leave the game because of the attitudes of others. I really like the idea of mentoring others, and the idea of Assist Badges, but would be more than happy to help out w/dungeons, leveling, whatever. You didn’t mention whether you were NA or EU player. I am NA player, and am online usually from 6am CST to 2 or 3pm CST so give me a holler, I’ll help in anyway I can.

So you really think players will receive 50 per month in the future? Currently it’s 1 per daily and 20 per monthly. Maybe you will if you choose that particular reward for the “ooh, lookie I logged in today again for the last 28 days”. I’m rather doubtful …

But since I’ve alot that I will NEVER use, I’m glad (for me at least) that I can sell them for good profit.

Excellently written post, Lishtenbird! You are always a voice of reason and logic, I hope you are able to be chosen to be a Forum Specialist and would want to be one.

Since Anet is obviously going forward with this, I hope that they read this, and even observe map chat in game. Realizing that the pic they’d shown was just an example, they either need to make a separate tab for New Players with the old-style generic daily goals for AP or, at least in PVE make the Daily achievable by them by adding additional choices so that a level 1-60 could accomplish 3 of them. I can’t speak about PVP or WVW, but changes should apply there. Since most new players more than likely will not enter those areas unless they are higher level or they are in a guild. Additionally it would behoove Anet to add something in game to explain this to them.

Again another feature/change nobody had asked for….

Really? Because it seems to me that a lot of people asked for it…

I’m pretty sure noone (or almost noone) asked for limiting the choice of dailies, or to make them require way more specific activities. In fact, when the previous change happened, the resulting negative feedback was enough for anet to increase number of choices (from 10 to 12).
Seeing the picture presented, it seems that all the general dailies are now gone. Of the 4 options visible, two are limited by region, but two other require specific zone. Not to mention 2 of 4 are meant for fully leveled characters (which means that it will be simply impossible to complete dailies in PvE while levelling).
They really should have done a fourth tab, with generic dailies that can be completed in any game mode (the equivalent of current Leveler, Recycler, Reviver, Condition Applier/Remover, Dodger, Kills).

This +1000! Since Anet had become so focused on New Players, as you say 2 out of the 4 PVE in the example require a level 80, which will shut the newer players out of getting them (and in the process confuse them even more).
But, people apparently like the pretty UI colors that the NPE brought and now this, I guess. It wasn’t broken – for PVE players there were enough choices to consistently complete the dailies. And, no one was forcing players to do anything they didn’t want to do for the reward. Heck, most days I just played and got them without as some described “painfully or tediously” searched for them. If I wanted to get it done in 30 minutes then I’d go out and get them. Big whoop!
It just really bothers me that new players will be excluded for the most part, and I’ll admit I’ll miss getting 40 laurels per month.
As far as the log-in rewards, now I really have an incentive to log-in EVERY DAY (I do anyway) since I’ll get some useless crap filling up my inventory, especially that gear. So how do they figure out what type of gear to send? And most likely it will be similar to the levelling rewards, unsalvagable and unsellable.

Too bad, Arenanet didn’t use that manpower to fix some of the bugs/issues in game. Foulbear Krall, hobo sacks, the list is long. <smile>

I have, or had, all 5 races as rangers. My main has been a Sylvari for the last 2 years, who I adore still. My second fave is my lvl 80 human ranger, that I’ve had for a couple of months. She looks great in her armor, runs fairly gracefully, and I can do JP’s with her. In contrast “was” my Norn Ranger, decked in Tier3 Cultural armor – looked like Eir Stegalkin. Liked her, but her running even with Signet of Hunt looked so dorky, and she was difficult to do vistas or JP’s with, at least for me. So, I offed her…

I wont leave the game, but I will def leave the forums, I can think of 3 or 4 people off the bat that are so Ultra white knight its sickening, and I tend to leave any topic they post in just because the way they reply and cannot see the PoV of other players makes arguments rapidly start.

Someone just stated to me on TeamSpeak are Anet doing this so that devs don’t have to read the forums at all anymore, they can just get a report sent to them once a week and don’t ever have to worry about posting on the forums again…..

Wooden Potatoes video on You Tube is a great guide, gw2crafts.net has a section on the cheapest way to craft 1-200 Cooking which will get you to level 10 (cost varies from 1.5 to 2 gold). Currently my designated toon Human Guardian does the first 4 hearts Queensdale to get to 4 (so I can get a speed buff using Staff 3) which takes about 7-10 minutes. Use the portal in DR to head to Hoelbrak (for me the easiest city to complete and there are multiple Speed Boost NPCs there), 100% completion gives a transmutation charge worth 3 gold. Another 15 minutes or less. Back to DR to craft cooking (only need up to 100 now since you’ll be lvl 6 which takes maybe 5 minutes) And Voila lvl 10! Personal story time

Cost is pretty negligible, but I end up with a trans. charge and a key.

When each map area (excluding the Silverwastes) has from 14 to 18 WP’s, mounts are unnecessary in GW2. Not to mention that most classes have a speed boost signet, or trait, sadly Mesmers and Guardians use weapon skills. But there are runes (traveller) /sigils (speed/pack) to help with speed. That said, it is understandable in games like FF XIV, where there is only one place to “waypoint” in each map “division” (also you cannot ride a mount in cities), mounts are helpful. However, you cannot engage in combat while on a mount in FF. Don’t know about other games, tho.

1 “waypoint, wayshrine, whatever” per area vs. 14-18 waypoints. Logically, mounts have no place in GW2.

It was quite inexpensive before to reset one’s traits, what 2s44c ? Which I did every time when going into to do WvW long before the AP chests began to “reward” Badges of Honor, while I was getting my Gift of Battle for a legendary. Did that 3 nights a week, for a couple of months, big whoop!

But, I did find myself experimenting more way back when with different builds. Not now. I pick a build, after looking online, when levelling a new (or reconstituted) toon (I’ve deleted many level 80’s) and just go after those traits I need (90% have been bought w/money & reluctantly SP’s) However, the SP’s are more important to me for utility skills. Not to mention the fact that some classes are a b**** to level without having traits, especially early on, i.e. mesmer. Used to love leveling (hence, the 15 char), but not so much now, even with Anet’s little “level reward gold star”. Not worth the hassle, and gems bought for new slots.

My point is that the previous system was working just fine, was understandable (even to a senior citizen/grandma such as myself who had never played a MMO in her life). The new system is horrible, but I realize they’ll never seriously look at this thread after 7months.

By all 6 gods I hate it when people say " Can I have your stuff?" when someone leaves.

Anywho, to the OP: Have a great time in FFXIV! It’s an awesome game and patch 2.4 looks very cool. I’ll be back there soon.

will rangers ever be nerfed ?

Rangers were nerfed into oblivion on 6/25/13 adding to our reputation of being useless. Pets, bows sucked, only viable weapons were/are swords.

So to the OP, L2P if you can. Every class has it’s strengths and weaknesses. Figure it out dude.

The tragedy that is megaserver

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

dkspins.4670

I loved it pre-megaserver. With so many level 80’s I could send each of my girls out on a gathering run and be assured that the nodes were in the same place (but not on overflow). It made the runs for mats and Empyreal easy, rather than hunting on whatever MS map one happened to zone in on. There was a website at that time which showed the nodes for upper items in every map. Life was good…

The forum login works for me just fine as it always did: login expires every 24h or if I restart the browser. I’m using Firefox.

For the game login and not autostarting with saved credentials since the September feature update, I found a solution by using the -autologin command line argument for gw2.exe. See here:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/No-auto-login-after-patch/4467343

Thanks Silmar Alech for posting this solution to the game login! worked like a charm

3k hours| 575+days | 850g+ No precursor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

dkspins.4670

First off, if you would read my post, I already have one legendary. I bought Dusk on the TP for 880g after having thrown 200g in the mystic forge to no avail. I wanted to go for bolt as well, but I can’t justify grinding the gold for the current price of zap (which will probably be at 2k by the time I can grind that much gold).

To everyone who says there is no problem, stop feeling entitled: Why do you feel the need to attack me? I think that my request for a guaranteed way to earn a precursor, that is not subject completely to the rise and fall of the TP prices is not unreasonable. I’ve done the journey once that way, and the grind for the gold was awful, and there was nothing legendary about it. The developers said back in 2012 that they didn’t anticipate the rise in the precursor market, and they don’t like that precursors cost 100g (the quote is out there somewhere if you care to find it). Well they have gotten up to near 2k gold, and they still haven’t fixed what they have admitted is a problem.

I have tried to fight the belief that RNG is implemented per account, but I now think that is highly likely of being correct. I started the game at the same time as another friend of mine, and for about the same time of gameplay, he has gotten 6 precursors as drops (none from forging, hasn’t even tried) and I have gotten zero. I also bought an account for my boyfriend, and his account constantly gets amazing drops (first black lion chest he opened had a full ticket). And I know another person who like me has played a lot, actually he has double my hours, and has never gotten a pre either. If the RNG is the same for everyone, that doesn’t make any sense. Being 1 or 2 drops off from someone who has played as long as me makes sense, but a difference of 6?!

So if you are just going to come on here to say grind for gold, stop being entitled, nothing is wrong, then please don’t bother commenting. If you want to offer constructive reasonsing as to why you believe the current state of obtaining a precursor is fair then feel free to comment. I don’t mind differing views, but just coming in to white knight and not really offer anything useful is just a waste of time to everyone who reads the thread.

I feel your pain. Others seem very lucky, some of us not so much :~( Add to that the fact that the precursors go up regularly (mine having jumped from 400g over a year ago, to doubled one month ago, and now it’s almost 1k g). That kind of sucks…

No need, OP, to stress out over this, as well as compare your AP to anyone’s. AP. The total amount any given player has is meaningless, also I really don’t think most players have 20K. Personally, I just do the 5 for the daily so I can get my laurel, trading for a T-6 bag of crafting materials, but if I don’t it’s no big deal. As others have said, I can’t think of a single guildie that has over 10k, and I’ve been with this guild for a year and a half. Currently I’m at 9.6k after 6k hours of play and only want to get the 10k chest for the gems <smile>
Give yourself a break.

LOL – I’m a grandma – senior citizen – and I had absolutely no problem playing this game (my first MMO, only played Spyro and Crash on PS) since12/12. Not confusing, with the exception of crafting, but map chat can work wonders! Better/written
tutorials may have served GW2 better than these changes.

Best server for Aussie players? SOS Full!

I’m on Fort Aspenwood. Not sure about the rest of the servers, but my guild’s leader, several officers, and about 20 of the active players (out of 50) play during Oceanic time. Most are Aussies or from NZ. I tend to play at that time as well.

Perhaps you could go to a Meta/World Boss Event (such kittenterer), and ask in map chat which server they’re on. There are lots of players at that time. Good Luck!

Rollback on changes ETA?

Do my ears deceive me? did you actually espouse a less than flattering opinion towards Anet.

Game is simple ,understandable by the feeblest of neophytes such as myself and I’m an old, old woman. Two simple “hints” could have been put in by Anet 1. /wiki and 2. youtube.com, which would have avoided this travesty of patches. Agreed the game’s tutorial system is abysmal. Dollars to donuts, my 3 yr. old grandson will get it, and he’ll love all the shinies for levelling.

I guess the grownups can go play FF xiv (where there are 30 weapon skills) or other such games.

I’d say less than a 12 yr. old. I’m using my keyfarmer slot to teach my 3 yr.old grandson to rock GW2. If grandma can help him move his toon, I’ll bet he can do the rest!

After watching Magickal Mike’s video, who totally echoed my confusion over levelling in this game, I’ve decided to stick around so I can teach my 3 yr old grandson the game. I’m thinking he might be ready

This patch was quite insulting to the intelligence of any player population. GW2 is (and 100 times moreso now) one of the easiest MMO’s out there. If I a friggin senior citizen, grandma who never played a game other than Spyro or Crash Bandicoot on the PS, could figure out easily enough how to play 21 months ago on her own. Bah!

From experience they will not rollback the changes nor even acknowledge that problems or player dissatisfaction exists. Look at the 4/15/14 patch, took them over 4 months to say anything to the Forums.

That it is sad Konig! I appreciate you taking the time to point this out. Apatia’s story as well as Tonn’s were perhaps the best as well as compelling parts of the PS. (God knows the ending was anticlimatic w/Zhaitan). The story lacks any sort of continuity now. Can’t for the life of me figure out why Anet destroyed the PS this way, so nonsensically.
