Here’s my Norn mesmer, I wanted something that would show most of her tattoos. Chest and leggings are the Flamekissed Armor, Nightmare Mantle, Cabalist Boots and Hood, and conjurer gloves.
Sad to think I spent 20-30$ a month the past year on the game, i.e. char. slots (10 of ‘em), keys, no minis thank you very much, and other assorted add-ons. I really loved this game at one time, and am saddened by what’s changed within it. Oh well. Lots of hours, decent loot at one time long ago. Not surprising tho…
guess I had better try out EOTM before it’s changed, too LOL.
Orr has already been nerfed as far as loot goes. The average t-6 mat from Heavy Moldy Bags 1 year ago was 1 in 7-8 bags (without MF, at that time we didn’t have Celestial which was touted as the "have it all – damage & magic find, pre-ascended) today it is ( w/300% MF) one in 20 bags. Not to mention the mobs will more likely drop trash bones rather than a bag.
Better to do the Meta world bosses every 15 minutes, and Plinx once in CS for that loot. Still have a couple of stacks of Gauntlet tickets from last year, and have no interest in a Panda mini nor a Dolyak tonic. Meh. Was hoping that the various emissaries would be there (sigil/rune recipes) that I missed out last time. Well, back to the grind…
I don’t think they’re more responsive LOL
Haha, personally receive many more lewd/crude remarks when in WF, not QD over the last few weeks.
Well, a new champ farm train will be up and running no doubt. Anet wants us to grind yet punishes us for doing so. Good luck to the newbies trying to get the Champ Bandit vista and that bugger of a Skill Challenge there.
The game has changed for the worse, IMO. At least they fixed (sort of) the Adept traits this patch, making new toons do 100% on a level 60-70 area when they are most likely lvl 30-35 was ridiculous. Thank the Six that winter is over, and summer is here. Love the sunshine!!!!!
Well, I hope those who complained about the QD trail are happy with the new patch. Sadly for new players there will be fewer, if any experienced players in the starter areas to help new players, by answering questions, explaining game, etc.
As for the trolls they will simply move on to other areas, to be sure, or stay in the starter areas to spread their vile. New players will learn of the meta boss zerg (GW2 style play nowadays) on their own if they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I really do feel sorry for the brand new players, they will be quite lost, whether in QD or WF, even MP.
It is still ridiculous when 2 people are in a party and they get split up when wp-ing from Malchor’s Leap to Cursed Shore while doing map completion. LOL
Reading patch notes, Anet has not even addressed the Megaserver issues with RP, Guilds & MIssions, etc. let alone party splitting. I truly miss my server and server pride, being online with guldies at events without a huge hassle getting everyone in the same MS. by the time taxis are done, the event we were aiming for is over. ::sigh::
I absolutely loved GW2 and would be more than willing to go back in time to a year ago, when it was fun (less lucrative perhaps but more fun.) Pre-ascended, pre-talk of legendary gear (i.e. grind), pre-shaky box, pre-achievement chests. Players were more congenial, rezzed NPC’s as well as players, and seemed to care more about the game than the loot they were getting. Jungle Wurm, trying to rez, yet dying myself despite the 50+ players there – not a one tried to rez anyone. Sad days indeed…
I can understand the need for mounts in games with maybe one “instant travel point” per map zone, similar to waypoints like aethernet shards/wayshrines (FF/ESO) per map area. But GW2 has several WP’s per map zone, so the time to WP & run to a specific area is negligible. And I can only say from experience on FFxiv that you cannot travel while mounted, nor can you engage in combat while mounted. Dismounting is an average of 2 or more seconds, which means 2 or more seconds of no DPS.
These people exceeding 10 hours + a day
Have you considered getting a job? you probably spend A LOT less hours doing piece of kitten work (like farming a precursor in gw2), convert money to gold and buy one instead.
Well, to answer that question. Yeah, I worked for 20+ years, then spent another 20 raising children & working part-time. Now I’m over 60 and semi-disabled, but I do tend my grandson a couple of days a week. GW2 is my escape where I can run and do what I would LOVE to do in real life, so to speak.
so, no I personally wasn’t afk those 5k hours.
gratz on Zap Justkoh!
I don’t know I spent 2 months a year ago, avg 13.23 hr. per day, farming Orr, and would guess altogether 1,000 or more hours there in the past year and a half without a drop. Just RNG.
LOL
5,200 hrs. 500+ days, 1,000 tries in MF and nada haha
With the implementation of Megaserver (altho it is a trend within the game that I’ve noticed over the past few months but especially now), if people are dying around you, say during a meta event or an event in Orr, please try to rez them. Jormag is a great example, I spend the majority of the 15 minutes or so of the event reviving others and it hasn’t affected the amount of loot I get, altho I see it also at the Maw where it does affect whether or not you get the Champ boss loot, not the shaky chest or big chest.
When running thru the world I do try to observe whether someone’s health during a skill challenge is going on, before helping.
Thank the Six that GW2 does NOT have the trinity. If it did I’d be out of here like a bat out of hell. Being a tank is a pita – getting aggro away from some classes, unless you’ve run a dungeon several times, healing is alot of responsibility and DPS are pretty much ignored. I appreciate being responsible for my own viability, and I love bringing buffs as well as other things for a party.
Rangers are still in a horrible place, pets were nerfed 6/25/13, as well as our skills. Altho our F2 skill works 40-50% of the time , which is better than 10%. The pet AI has truly not been addressed and is still quite broken. It would be a good thing if Anet were to update their class descriptions, since rangers are not the archers they tout us to be, a thief or warrior is much more effective with a bow.
Mesmers were truly messed by the Feature Patch on 4/15, as well as others, such as necro. Warriors of course were not altered so much. Altho I appreciate the effort, the thousands of anti- megaserver posts in the forum would negate the happiness quotient. But, I suppose there will always be those white knights fawning over Anet to unquestionably disrupt the actual number of “happy” posts to the forums.
I’m not certain this is the right thread to post about the meta events. Anyway, I really like how you (Anet) have changed Shadow Behemoth, although I wish some of the horde in front of him would break off and help do portals. But, at least it is challenging to a degree.
On the other hand, one one my mesmers tonite I did the pre-events for the Jungle Wurm (which you’ve also changed – however the changes made have made it a tad more chaotic) a mesmer cast Feedback on the Great Jungle Wurm. This caused the event to be over in perhaps 5 seconds, and the vast majority of the the people there did not receive credit, and obviously not a chest. IMO, a world/meta event boss should not be so easily killed by one skill of any class.
After leveling 14 or 15 80’s (I’ve deleted several) and starting a mesmer from the ground up, I’m so disappointed in how the change in traits is. Honestly, why on earth would you (Anet) decide that finishing a level 60-70 area such as Mount Maelstrom be doable by a level 36 toon? I imagine you’d rather have people just purchase them from the trainers.
The previous system was working just fine. It wasn’t confusing like you had touted during the feature patch. Even I, an old woman, was able to figure it out. The new system does absolutely nothng for a player to try different builds out. Yes, a toon made before the patch has a chance to do that, but the new system is without merit. For this, my last toon, I’ll choose a build that is online, and ONLY unlock those traits. I refuse to unlock the other traits until I’m level 80, since I’m not going to pay 3g for GM trait.
This system has the repercussion of many players running around traitless until they are 80 as well. And there have been many good suggestions on how to scale traits, so I won’t reiterate. It’s kind of sad because leveling was what I enjoyed most about the game. but not now. Unfortunately, I won’t be buying any character slots in the future.
Out of the three, Forgal was hands down my favorite, despite his gruffness and the only one who I actually cried over what happened in the PS at Claw Island. ::sigh:: What a voice Paul Eiding has, like a demanding, yet gentle father.
Actually I’ve spent a lot of time in Queensdale 4 hrs. one day monitoring chat (whilst doing other things around the house), 3 hrs another , 8 hrs. over the weekend, and a couple of hours yesterday, and didn’t see trolls doing their thing, just the usual sexist remarks. I have, however been accosted in other venues, such as CS and WF by whisper. Lewd remarks and such. WF is the same with the remarks and there is no train there. Haven’t checked out the other starter zones. Freshly started toons can do the starter zones in any area. Most of my 15 toons started in Rata Sum or The Grove, and I took them straight to QD to level. In fact yesterday I took my level 5 on the train for 2 stops, Troll & Bandit + that bandit vista. Was great!
I am not saying the verbal attack during the train doesn’t happen (as I’ve said before in this thread), it does. I won’t say who I think the biggest trolls are because I’ll receive an infraction <g>
Saylu: Just yesterday I was at Shelter’s Gate in CS, where 9 out of 12 people died rather quickly. Was difficult if not impossible to rez. They wouldn’t WP 20ft away (WP was uncontested) after the event was over and expected
rezzes. I didn’t say anything, but wanted to.
That would actually be pretty cool. On occasion I will use the Endless Watchwork Knight potion, since you can fight while transformed. A Watchwork Moa would be a perfect companion!
5,200 hrs, the past year? Oh no! My life is a lie. No, the cake is a lie
And what do you have to show for it? Some virtual items. LOL
You win.
Yeah, but I’m really old, disabled so I’m easily amused. LOL Remember, you can’t take it with you when you die. <smile> Virtual items/real life items, it’s all the same.
Why is someone who’s been playing for 2 years in QD. I really think people make stuff up. Maybe someone who has played for that long doesn’t realize there are other places. I spent alot of time in QD today leveling another toon, and not once during those 2 hours did I see an altercation, harsh words, etc. that would turn a newcomer to GW2 away. All I saw were people lending their experience and advice to new players. Maybe it’s a Megaserver thing, my old server would do just what I saw today. Now, on the other hand, I’ve decided that alot of Megaserver zerg players are total kittens. Not wasting my time rezzing them anymore.
i want all champion trains nerfed (i kno they did….but MORE) it is letting ppl stay in a boring cycle
Hey, I remember that game, Duke Nukem. Well, sorry to hear you want the trains nerfed (I guess alot of people don’t play how you want). A year ago Champs, whether they were in QD or Orr gave absolute crap. Absolutely no one would fight the Champ Risen Abom in CS after Plinx (they’d changed it to a Champ from a Vet and made it so that Plinx wouldn’t spawn unless the Abom was dead). Now at least people would finish the entire event. And, very few higher level would be in QD unless they were leveling a toon. Since the QD champ train, I’ve seen many, many high level players lending their knowledge and advice to lower level players, whereas before we’d all stay in our various area appropriate levels. Have not been to EoTM, not interested. If you don’t like the fact that others are doing the train there, by all means head on to WvW.
I absolutely hate the megaserver and what it has done to RP. I’d just started guesting to TC to do RP when the patch hit and was saving up to permanently transfer to TC. It was so much fun then. After playing like a robot doing meta events, gathering for so long, it was a breath of fresh air and brought a new perspective to GW2. Now, it truly sucks big time, RP’ers are scattered on so many servers, the trolls are rampant. I really wish I’d joined a large RP guild earlier so that I could have gotten to know them.
5,200 hrs, the past year? Oh no! My life is a lie. No, the cake is a lie
Shaking my head over those who ask deliberately for nerfs, EoTM QD Orr. It’s not like we haven’t had alot of loot nerfs in the past year and a half LOL
I recall racking up a 300$ phone bill one month on Compuserve playing games. My ex about killed me over that. Card carrying AARP member relishing those Senior discounts. LOL
haha – " you are standing in front of a door" -
If you want mounts, unbearably redundant weekly raids, housing, increasing character levels (went from lvl 50 w/90 gear to 120 gear, housing, and of course the holy trinity, then by all means go play Final Fantasy XIV. I know nothing about Wow.
I’m 60 and proud to be a gaming gramma! Have been playing video games since the days of Pong, but GW2 was my first MMORPG and I’m also playing FF xiv. My dd and son-in-law introduced me to GW2, and I’m happy they did. So, yes there are some oldies but goodies out there in Tyria. For my 61st birthday in a couple of months, I’m having my daughters, their husbands, and my little 16month old grandson get in costume and go with me to FantasyCon. Game on!

In an interview with Eurogamer as well as in his blog, producer Colin Johanson along with Mark (sorry don’t know his title) stated that the LS 2 will most likely be introduced in monthly installments.
This looks interesting – can you provide links?

My favorite is “this won’t end well” by Trahearne, over and over
On FA, it was Boar Troll Bandit Oak. No spider now since it’s been downgraded, and there’s wasp when up. Altho there’s alot of people who want to hold up the train forever <g> It doesn’t hurt anyone, as long as member of the train don’t give unsuspecting players who inadvertently start the troll grief. It sure helps with those monthlies.
well, it’s the weekend tomorrow. so will be checking it out, LOL I’m not saying the trolls on the QD train don’t mess with people. Just that there are alot of trolls, with the Megazerger being implemented, and so many servers condensed on a few maps. Perhaps my old server was more mature, since I RARELY saw any harassment at that time.
I agree with Huck above. Today I spent another couple of hours, this time running along with the train. At one point, the Oak was done when the group got there. No one said a word, just said to go on to Boar. One (who was also running the train) joked that he’d sniped it. Was no big deal. Other players running it, helped a few newbies with their map chat questions. However, there were players (not on the train) saying a few lewd remarks about the size of their * as well as hookers and blow.
As long as Anet has Champs on their monthly list the train will exist. Hopefully,.. players can be mature and as laid back as I’ve seen the past two days if someone inadvertently derails the train. But, I’ll check again tomorrow.
Trolls will be trolls, whether they are in the QD train or not. Those same people berating someone who jumped the gun on a Champ will be the same ones making lewd remarks in map chat. So yesterday, ooc, I left one of my toons in QD monitoring the map chat for about 3 hours, never saw an argument break out. Not to say it doesn’t happen, I’m certain it does. A new player if attacked by remarks has the option of reporting said person along with a screenshot of the map chat, or they can ignore it. The other day while in Wayfarer Foothills doing the Maw, had someone whisper me “they’d fix me all night long”, my toon is Fixit xxx. If they only knew they were whispering to a grandmother, they’d probably lose their lunch. LOL Like I said, trolls will be trolls. Acting like them is really not the answer.
I have seen alot more toxicity in map chat since the Megazerger debaucle, lewdness, name calling, etc.
As far as new players go and the zerg, GW2 is a continual zergfest, and the sooner they learn that the better. The 15 minutes schedule of meta events/World Bosses is beyond zergy. Besides, the Champ Bandit is right next to a vista, and if 20 or so are running there, it makes it much easier to get. And, yes I occasionally run the train to get monthlies done, the rewards are meh. But what can you expect? By all means let’s get Anet to nerf it to the ground, along with the other champs in the world, as far as rewards go. I recall when people were complaining about the Champs everywhere being not worth the effort, and they weren’t. People would do the Plinx events in Cursed Shore and would leave when Anet replaced the Veteran Risen Abom with a Champ who would only give maybe a blue. As far as I’m concerned Anet could turn back the hands of time pre shaky chest and I’d be happy.
It’s still bugged – Northern PACT will not move to Rally WP.

Congrats on 80!
If you want karma armor check out
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment_acquisition_by_stats#Karma to plan out your route.
The only item in Soldier’s that you cannot get from Karma is the legs, and like others have said, you can’t get the runes out.
Thank you all for coming in and NOT posting re-roll since “Ranger is the bottom of the barrel” because we aren’t. Every class has it’s good and bad points.
Agreed on the pet evasion inability, as well as most of mobs in dgs. Many times I’ve wanted to kill my pet LOL. Lucky for me, since I love my ranger – (and I’m not a bearbow btw and I have 14 80’s inc 3 rangers, 3 guards, 2 warriors and 2 mesmers), I have lots of guildies/friends to run dungeons and fractals with and don’t seem to care that I take a ranger or whatever char I feel like playing.
Rangers were in a better position prior to 6/25/13, as were other profs. Everyone knows Anet loves their warriors and guardians LOL
Personally I’ve spent twice the dollar amount of an average p2p game in Gem Store purchases (11 character slots, unlimited gather tools, etc.) over the past 18 months or so. As far as GW2 goes, the only thing that would make me happier about the game is if they turned back the clock prior to 4/15 with the Megazerger. At this point a 3 year old could be successful with the game. But that won’t happen.
With my guild of 500 from a year ago in GW2, about 1/2 stopped playing or moved on to other guilds, and at least 100 went to FF XIV, and the guild there has gained 200 more in game, there’s only 20 of us left in GW2. But I play both. FFXiv is much more challenging than GW2, the world is more realistic including Characters, their Dev’s /Producer Yoshi are constantly giving feedback to players (even tho FF XIV is releasing in China as well). Just being in game, there are many servers from which to choose so I can play with my EU friends during the day, and NA friends/guildmates at nite. Looking at the amount of players thruout the servers, I’d say SE is doing well. (Have many alts in different worlds.)
I don’t think making GW2 P2P is the answer to new content or improving the game. They’ve had good ideas, poorly implemented (i.e. LS 1).
There are certain dungeons, TA, HotW, AC, even Arah , where I’d rather play as a ranger, and have not had any problems succeeding. However, COE is much easier as a Warrior. Fractals are easy enough as a ranger. 5k hours playtime, 2k hrs on ranger, but I don’t do pug groups, since I’d much rather play with guildies or friends.
remind me to turn off spotter, frost spirit and oh yeah “search and rescue” if we’re ever in a dungeon together poster above me. Ranger is not the bottom of the barrel, no prof is. Each has their own niche and excel at some things. Sick of haters. I have 3 lvl 80’s, each for different things, be it PVE, WvW, or PVP. Perhaps the biggest changes over the last 15 months was the reduction of pet damage, reduction of SB range and the advice of some to go full zerkers and melee.
Play what and how you want to play, dodge and ignore all the ranger haters out there.
tbh, I think Trahearne has one of the sexiest voices in game, well, he and Logan. But then I again I started life as a Sylvari, have made several since. LOL My only issue with Trahearne is when he pessimistically says “This won’t end well” After all I got him that cool GS Caladbolg, couldn’t he perhaps seem grateful?
Above is tongue in cheek
Previously, as in a year ago, drops of t-6 mats in heavy moldy bags was maybe one in 8, now it is (at least for me) one in 20, and usually gossamer which I have a ton of currently. Had been farming for legendary, but discarded that idea in favor of ascended weapons/armor, all of which require vast amounts of Ori & Ancient Wood Logs both to level to 500 and crafting the item. Those 2 items are limited by Anet per character. With 13 level 80’s I could send each of them to Frostgorge and 1/3 of them to Orr to acquire the Ori and Ancient Wood using a ore location website, along with sidetrip thru Queensdale to get the Empyreal Fragments, as well as trips to other areas to acquire Platinum, Iron and various Woods. But they each took the same route so it went fairly quickly (barring any events which would dump one into overflow). Since Megaserver, I send one on a hunting expedition, then another on an expedition, and so forth. Since node spawn locations vary on each megaserver “instance” it’s quite chaotic, and my time is better spent doing metas or whatnot, selling the loot I get, and buying off TP rather than wasting time hunting thru the various areas for something I may find or not find.
I would so love to see the Marionette event continue (as opposed to triple wurm), that was one of the most fun events ever, challenging, with 5 groups of players.
Whether or not Scarlet is actually dead, the Marionette could have become a sentient being, wanting to survive and destroy her adversaries (us) .
I don’t think anyone is asking Anet to reveal “trade secrets” or sensitive information about their game. Personally, I would like to see even just a “We are reading your comments (other than the ones they delete) and are examining possible solutions” A platitude such as that would help, rather than just waiting for the “haters” to go away and there is nothing but sunshine & lollipops on the forums. LOL Seriously, Yoshi – producer of FF xiv, despite being in the same position as Anet with their own upcoming release in China as well at the same time as GW2, manages to do just that and more, including interviews with 3rd party websites. 2 weeks after the laughingly QOL feature patch is more than enough time for a Dev, any Dev in house, to say we care about our current player base, we understand your concerns, and are attempting to reach solutions that will satisfy all. Perhaps we are just to assume that they are interested in suggestions, as well as the current player base.
