Every class has proficient condition clearing, if you spec into it. What matters to you more? clearing conditions/healing or fighting?
If all you do is fight, then you cannot complain about conditions, as you do not care enough to spec against them.
If you spec against conditions first before choosing how to fight then you can improve your fighting substantially.

Anyone whom assumes that rangers suck deserve to be burned alive. Rangers are what you make of us. We are meant for soloing, we can do things that other classes can’t, such as tanking a boss and having your pet dps him, or quickly switching to a pet whom is generally good and using him to tank while you quickly condition. Whatever you want to do as a ranger is possible.
What other class is able to attack while healing or resing an ally?
When they stated that rangers would be in Guild Wars 2, they did stat that the use of a pet is necessary for to access the full potential of the class. If you remember, they don’t care what other games do. Their vision of classes is how they pictured them to be. Rangers here use pets, and are one with nature. If you do not want to be one with nature then do not choose a ranger and leave us alone for not being what you expect.
Expectations only lead to disappointment.
The one thing you all do not realize is that the pet is at least 40 % of your damage. If you learn to play a build involving it you can tank bosses. It just takes training, hardwork, and determination. This isn’t guild wars 1 where you stand in one spot, doing so will kill you in any fight.
I’ve been able to tank dungeons with one of my builds. I don’t sacrifice anything, if you don’t use your pet you won’t succeed in pve. The best you can do without your pet is stand in the back like a coward and fire an arrow. Try everything available to the ranger, infinite possibilities to achieve balance.
When they did nerfing I wasn’t affected at all because I don’t rely on just a bow.
If you are fighting a melee boss it would be smart to have a ranging pet, as with fighting a ranging boss it would be smart to have a melee pet.
Fighting only matters if you die all the time. The game is about fun, so do what you believe is the best for you. No one can tell you that you’re better off with another build.
Rangers should focus on just surviving. If you are a true ranger fighting comes second surviving comes first.
Each profession follows a god. You do not see Melandru in Cursed shore using a gun to kill people. The ranger will never get rifles, as this is Guild Wars 2! If you really want a rifle play a Warrior or an Engineer.
Pets are a nessicary part of the game. They will not be put away even if you guys say too, because a true ranger is never without his pet!

You forget that they consider for the most part WvW to be part of pve. Any skins have to be considered for both areas, not just one of them. I have yet to see them but I know they’re good, because allot of level 80 exotic skins stink.

Glass cannons on a ranger are not needed. They won’t work because you HAVE to use your pet to be effective. If you don’t use your pet your damage output can be only 50% of what you could be getting.

I will be online in about 2-3 hours. Waiting to go into a math class currently so if you mail me in game I will reply back when I’m on.
The only good builds in Guild Wars 2 are the ones we make ourselves.
I can help design one, but I refuse to share my build with others because it is a piece of who Dodger Rule is.
Sorry if it looks weird. I can help out for any place for the most part. People hate rangers in Arah because they don’t understand how they work.

If you haven’t designed a build then you are not competing. Only rangers who make their own build have the make-up to compete with anyone. Rangers consist of 2 things, the ranger, and the beast. Both have to be utilized to unlock the fullest potential.
They’re focusing on nerfing other classes first I believe, but they do read every post we make.

Rangers are versatile we can choose a condition build or high damage or tank like most other professions but we are never alone.

Ranger has the same ‘incidentals’ but unfortunately they all affect our pet instead.
And the pet is already dead after 2 sec in battle or from AoE on the way to the target!
Honestly, Anet, did you guys make ranger pet just to be on passive mode in dungeons?
I use my pet and it usually never dies if it does i simply exchange it for the other. Pick good skills extend beast mastery and you will have a god pet. It is always sad to see someone who cannot master their pet, but if you take the time to learn it anything is possible with them.
Engineer and necromancer. Idk bout you but i played guild wars 1. The ranger here is less but more. With my trait system here i can change between throwable traps and dps/tank build in an instance. Only a fool wouldn’t think to switch out his trait slot skills.

Just test it in places, eventually you will perfect your own build. The only good builds in Guild Wars 2 are the ones we make ourselves. Remember you can also switch out the trait slot skills for exchanging builds.

Traits are exactly as they should be if you make your build you know how to play it. That is what makes the game special. Only those who make their build can use it to its fullest potential.

When people group with rangers they think they just plain suck, however I can out live almost anyone I play with and deal more damage. The only good builds in Guild Wars 2 are the ones you make yourself.

There are only 2 good ranger build trap and BM which trap requires tons of skills to play cuz still you are on the side to counter other’s stuff and out-last them. BM is not even a that good of a build, it just makes you tanky which every other classes can go tanky build and be very tanky too anyways.
There are only 1 bad thief build, its glass cannon cuz its the only build that can actually make thief killable.
enough said.
and god, we need to trait 30 points into power to actually make signets work on ourselves…really…
I disagree completely. I play with the same strategy i had in guild wars 1. I average more damage and survive longer than most people in parties i see. Glass cannon is not the way to go if you’re not the one who made it. People shouldn’t try to make builds like others but design their own as the game was meant to be played.
Dodger Rule
People shouldn’t gripe about what may or may not happen. traps a a part of a ranger yes, but illusions are part of mesmers.
The best leveling build is one you make yourself. We cannot tell you what is good for you, only you can.
Hillaan you’d be surprised Arena Net is the only group of people who actually produce their stuff on time and follows through with what they’re releasing. They will fix classes in the patch. There will also be bug fixes.
People play classes for only certain builds which is pointless, due to the fact that all over powered builds are going to get nerfed.
Hybrids are the way to go because they don’t depend on anything overpowered.

It all starts with 1 group, recognize it. People seem to stay away from rangers in a group. Seemingly important class isn’t unimportant.

I feel people attempting to make teams like this will make the game as bad as guild wars 1 was with speed clearing. Any way of attempting to do such things will only result in Arena Net nerfing the classes involved. So be weary before you attempt this.
