So: the Versatile Simple Infusions will still be available after the patch, and can be slotted into the Offensive, Defensive or Utility infusion slots on any item, but not the new agony resist infusion slots on rings and back pieces.

I just hope that if/when you add more cinematics to the game you will take care and make them

(a) not pop up in the middle of a fight / action sequence causing you to die instantly when the cinematic ends (*cough*volcanic fractal*cough*)
(b) be skippable so we don’t have to wait 5 minutes for Mrs. Lionguard to explain to Caithe how much help they need dealing with lolscarlet over and over and over again.

It sounds like they aren’t actually changing too much, but it’s not entirely clear.

It’s possible that it will still cost 250 ectos to get the 2nd AR infusion slot; i.e., only items with “(Infused)” in the name have 2 slots so you still need to perform the upgrade from Prototype Fractal Capacitor → Beta Fractal Capacitor.

Those who have (Infused) items prior to the update will get a free +5 AR infusion to start with, (Infused) items obtained after the update will have no infusion so you’ll have to grind out 32 +1AR items via RNG to get the +5AR.

Secondly, I have no sympathy for anyone at level 80 Fractals. Anet made it quite clear they didn’t intend for us to progress past 50.

This is not the case. When fractals were added to the game Anet actually said that they would scale up infinitely. It wasn’t until after people like Patrikan here actually hit lvl80 that the limits were eventually made clear.

Boss Stacking

Alpha is NOT higher risk when stacked on, because 2 of his 3 potential attacks cannot hit a target that is on top of him.

And if you range and side step at all times you also completely avoid 2 of his 3 potential attacks.

When you stack you avoid those attacks without sidestepping. Less effort for the same result, therefore less risky.

The only attack you avoid by stacking is his earth attack. Both fire and ice (the two attacks which are negated by sidestepping at range) will hit you.

His earth attack is also very easy to dodge at range, although it does substantially more damage the further you are away from him.

Boss Stacking

If you’ve ever fought subject alpha without first pulling him into the corner, you’ll find that even upon stacking on him he will back away between attacks so that they will hit their intended target.

Sortof. The only attack that fails in very close quarters is the earth attack. He only backs away like this in paths 1 and 3 right before he uses the attack. The fire and ice attacks both hit in melee range and the ice attack wipes bad groups who stack and can’t dodge.

The real problem is that the boss AI is terrible and Alpha’s attacks and movements are totally predictable and boring. He will use the earth attack on a schedule and will use it regardless of whether or not it can actually hit anyone.

Imagine the PUG tears if they tried to stack on him in path 1 and he just ran far out to the middle of the room and popped two earth attacks in a row.

Stuck in place after skill or dodge

I get this all the time on my elementalist. All movement keys suddenly stop working. The only reliable way to fix it seems to be to use a movement skill (e.g., dagger fire 3.) Fortunately, elementalist has a lot of these.

Select nearest target doesn't work

The target nearest was always a little quirky since it depended on the camera angle, but at least its behaviour was consistent so you could get used to it.

But this bug, present since the Oct. 15 patch, makes the target nearest function useless if there is any champion or legendary enemy on the screen.

So much fun to hit c, pop iWarden, then realize (too late) that you:

  • aggroed the nearby champ you didn’t even think about because who doesn’t want more enemies attacking, and
  • didn’t benefit from the projectile defense from the warden because it appeared at 1200 range away instead of right beside you.

Mesmer Speed

With warden’s feedback, temporal curtain gives 12s of swiftness every 20 seconds. On average this gives approximately a 20% movement speed increase compared to no buff at all.

Ignoring all other movement skills that mesmers have, 6 traveler’s runes will slightly increase the swiftness duration from your focus plus give you the 25% bonus when swiftness is off, which averages to approximately 30% movement speed increase compared to no buff at all.

Assuming NOBODY else in your party can apply swiftness then it’s up to you to decide whether the additional 10% move speed is worth the cost of 6 traveler’s runes AND the massive damage reduction you suffer from not using scholar’s.

Edit: The above calculations were done for out-of-combat movement.

Oh, I misunderstood Wethospu. I see now, the problem is that I have feedback equipped underwater.

Workaround, then, is to equip 3 useless utilities underwater.

Fear not, while you do have to fight the trash now, the NPC in SE p3 still hilariously repeats “NO NO NO” “NO NO NO” “NO NO NO” as he always has. And if they change that I’ll be upset.

I hope they never fix that bug, but they fixed a similar one where the NPC says “What is this?” in HotW p1 a while back, which made me sad.

Utility Swapping Cooldown Bug

This is most obvious to me (as a mesmer) when equipping feedback after using portal. IIRC, portal has 72 second cooldown and feedback has 32 second cooldown when traited.

Example:

- Start with utilities blink, portal and mirror images.
– Use the portal (goes on 72 second cooldown)
– Swap out mirror images for feedback
– Now both portal and feedback are on the same 72 second cooldown.

I think this happens every time for this particular set of utilities but I haven’t extensively tested it. Maybe related to the fact that portal and feedback are both glamour skills.

"Nearest enemy" targeting broken

The “nearest enemy” targeting key was always a bit quirky in its behaviour but now it’s pretty much useless. The description of this key binding is “Target the nearest enemy”. I expect that pressing this key will target, well, the nearest enemy.

But now, if there is a champ or legendary in targeting range they key just ignores any nearby mobs and targets the champ. This makes it especially hard to target properly when champs spawn adds.

Please fix this key to do what its description says it does.

I use undead in COE because of alpha.

Meh Alpha dies so fast I don’t really see the point, budget cuts are coming Guan you gotta cut back!

COE is a pain to use slaying potions. I generally pop an inquest slaying potion after the first alpha to since there are golems for 3 rooms in a row, but I don’t bother with potions for the rest of this dungeon.

Default food for me is omnomberry pie for the life leech and extra precision, and being only a couple silver each.

This has been the case for months (I think since culling was removed from PvE). Many other environmental animations/effects in dungeons were similarly broken at that time. Apparently being instakilled by invisible boulders is anet’s idea of a fun time, since they appear to have approximately zero interest in fixing this bug. I’m half expecting the CoE laser trap to become invisible in an upcoming patch…

Supposedly turning up your graphical settings will make the boulders visible.

Nevertheless, the invisible boulders cast shadows on the ground so it is still possible to get past the trap by watching carefully. Alternately, bring a mesmer along for all CoF path 1 runs.

Guild Commendations

In order to get the weekly bonus chest (and therefore commendations) you must, as an individual:

  • Be representing
  • For bounty: defeat a bounty target and get credit for completing the event (gold/silver/bronze medal).
  • For challenge: get credit for successfully completing the event.
  • For rush: successfully complete the course.
  • For puzzle: successfully enter the end room.

The way the missions are set up, it’s entirely possible for, say, one player to not get enough damage in to the bounty target for event credit. In that case, all players but the one who didn’t get credit will get their commendations.

Story Mission "Evacuation" is bugged

Just got to this mission today, with a similar problem. First wave of corrupted fish spawned, then that was it. Forgal was not dead.

However, there was a corrupted fish suck outside of the instance area to the south. I was able to swim a bit past the edge (where the kick warning appears), and range him. This allowed the mission to continue.

Can't set status to LFG anymore

Since the update it has become impossible to set my status to LFG (blue).

I understand that there’s a new LFG tool coming soon, but you didn’t have to kill off the existing feature, no matter how terrible it was, since the new tool isn’t available to everyone yet (and certainly isn’t available to me).

It wasn’t shown in the video, but just to clarify, the focus has a sigil of accuracy so there is no problem of shared cooldowns with another sigil.

Further experimentation seems to suggest that this triggers only when changing my equipment… so now whenever I change weapons and need these sigils to work I make sure to equip the weapon I want, then unequip both weapons with the sigil, then equip both weapons with the sigil. Tedious…

Base weapon swap cooldown is 10 seconds, not 8. As far as I know the only way to beat the cooldown for this sigil is with the Warrior trait “Fast Hands”; Superior Rune of the Warrior reduces swap cooldown to 9 seconds, same as the sigil.

Remember that the sigil does not regenerate any endurance unless you are in combat when you swap weapons.

I use sigils of energy, and nothing is more fun than dying because the sigil fails to do anything on weapon swap. It seems that my weapons get into a semi-permanent state where the sigil simply does nothing. The only way to fix it seems to be to uneqip both weapons and re-equip them. Then my sigils will work until the next time it bugs out.

This happens pretty regularly, although I am not certain what the exact trigger for this is. But of course, by the time I realize that my sigils are not working, I’m already dead.

You can hover over the area name of any zone in the world map, and it will show you completion status. Annoying, but you can use this to find that 1 missing PoI that was added 5 patches ago in an area you completed 10 months ago.

This affects any summoned enemy in all areas of PvE as far as I can tell. Clones/phantasms simply stand still and do not attack, and they do not move towards their target when shattering.

Whisper from guild roster is totally borked

Attempting to whisper a player by right clicking their name in the guild roster and selecting Whisper in the menu is totally broken. If I attempt to do this, (seemingly) nothing will happen… but it is worse than this! Not only does nothing happen, but this action also prevents sending any whispers to the player at all for about 5-10 minutes.

Moreover, after this massive delay, it will finally “work” and the chat interface will suddenly switch to whisper mode, any messages I attempted to send previously will all be sent at once (probably irrelevant at this time). And to add insult to injury, the chat interface will suddenly switch to whisper mode while typing a message to someone else (e.g., in party chat), potentially causing the message to be directed to the player who will have no idea WTF is going on because it wasn’t even meant for them.

Manually typing in the player’s name in the chat box seems to work reliably.

A lot of people who have already gotten their 13 maps completed will only go out to farm those MA and Aetherblade champs for the loot. This in turn has a hand in killing the event completion for the rest of the people who have NOT gotten their achieves.

There is literally only one achievement (Scarlet Scrambler) that requires you to successfully complete the invasion and beat scarlet, and you only need to complete one invasion to get it. Other than that, the reward for successful completion is 2 rares and 2 extra boxes.

Did this today, something was definitely up with the boulders. I had the portal up and 2 torches lit and then I saw the boulders appear. Normally they appear by the time I’m about halfway across the corridor.

Fractal Uncommon Box - issue with "compact"

All bag types with special mechanics do not “compact”. So if you want compactable 20-slot bags you need to eat the 10ish gold cost of regular bags.

But one easy trick you can do: replace your starter backpack with a fractal box, then use your starter backpack as an ordinary bag. Since I usually carry around more than 20 different consumables, gathering tools, etc, the compact feature still “works” since the first 20 slots are always compacted.

I always do 2-3 on the path 1 console with pugs. Slightly slower, but it’s basically impossible to screw it up. If you do 1-4 and one player is not on the ball, your group is going to have a bad day.

As of the latest patch, the balloon towers are gone from Iron Marches, or at least the map icons are. They appear to still be in other zones.

Easiest CoE path?

Differences between the 3 paths are minor. If your group has never done it before, it may take a few tries to learn the timing to evade Alpha’s ice attack, which he only uses on paths 2 and 3. Ice hurts a lot if you get hit by it but once you learn the timing this attack is really easy to avoid.

I find Alpha’s earth attack (which he uses in paths 1 and 3) to be the worst. Many groups will cheese him by getting him next to a wall and then stacking on him, which prevents him from moving at all and thus he will never hit anyone with the earth attack. You can then evade fire (path 1) and ice (path 3) and you should take essentially no damage during the entire fight (or, for path 1, you can just eat all the damage and not evade at all). I think the fights on these paths would be much more interesting if he wasn’t so easily trapped.

In a pinch, you can range him in path 2 pretty easily. You can literally walk out of both attacks (or stay put for ice attacks with no mist cloud) as long as your group is sufficiently spread out. Don’t ever try this if the rest of your group is stacking. Always rescue poor warriors from crystals

Yes, very painful to wipe at lupi in path 1.

But as long as we don’t have a convenient wp… if the fight’s going south, best to have the remaining member(s) flee the room to reset lupi. You may need to run some distance into the previous room if he’s chasing you. As long as one player survives, once he resets they can safely go back in and res the rest of your team, then try again.

We tried this again, and successfully completed the CoE laser puzzle with just 2 players (mesmer and thief). The portal method does work, just needs to be timed well. With just two you also need to sync your start almost perfectly.

At the very start of Crucible of Eternity explorable mode, there is a hallway containing of 6 silver mobs: 2-3 icebrood elementals, 0-1 icebrood goliath, 0-1 icebrood colossus, and 2-3 icebrood wolves.

I noticed a strange bug with the icebrood wolves playing as a mesmer. These silver wolves spawn additional normal wolves. If you allow the wolves to reset, the spawned normal wolves do not despawn and it becomes impossible to attack them with clones or phantasms. You can spawn the clones/phantasms on them but the illusions will just stand there and not attack. If you try to shatter with f1-f3, the illusions will still not move and the shatter is wasted.

We tried (unsuccessfully) to 3-man the lasers the other day. I dropped the entry portal by one console, then hit the pair of adjacent consoles. Other two members hit the two consoles by the waypoint after I started. I dropped the exit portal while channeling, then as soon as the first channel is done (4 seconds) hit f twice to teleport and start channeling the other console. It seemed like it almost worked but we weren’t able to pull it off.

It’s been a long time since I got this achievement, but I think it starts over when you switch zones. So you need to do the whole thing in a single area without switching maps or dying. Since XP scales up with your level, it was pretty easy to do at level 80.

Temple of Balthazar event impossible

Well, the few times I joined the balthazar events, the morale lowered even without any NPC death. It felt like it lowered by simply damaging NPCs. And preventing damage on NPCs is simply impossible in this game. You can only heal them, and this didn’t bring the event back up.

I’m pretty sure that damaging the NPCs didn’t reduce morale before. The problem was that due to the mass of players and enemies usually present at this event most of the NPCs you need to defend would be invisible due to culling. So you’d fail the event due to invisible NPCs being killed by invisible mobs with invisible attacks.

Zephyr Sanctum Model Trolling Mystic Forge

If players place the Zephyr Sanctum Model all around the mystic forge in Lion’s Arch, it becomes impossible for anyone to interact with the forge. Made especially easy since a single player may drop as many models as they would like. Only takes 2 players to maintain 100% uptime.

Would be nice if this was fixed so that trolling the mystic forge in this way is not possible…
