Something To Try #1
Has anyone tried performing a -prefreset command line argument to see if wiping it manually helps fix it so it doesn’t reset?
- Close your game/launcher completely
- Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
- On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”, immediately after the end quotation mark in this field, put a space and then add -prefreset
It will look like this (but with your installation location):
“F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -prefreset- Again, make sure there is a space between the " and -prefreset
- Run the shortcut and load the game so preferences are reset
- Reconfigure settings once again
- Exit the game
- Return to the shortcut’s properties and remove the -prefreset argument (including the space) that you added and run the game as normal to see if the preferences remain as you had just set them
Something To Try #2
If that was tried and did not work, has anyone tried completely deleting the local.dat file where preferences are stored so a new one will be downloaded after loading the launcher? Perhaps this may help fix it.
- C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2\Local.dat
Sorry I cannot help more right now, I am not having this problem…yet.
The #2 option has worked for me so far. Thanks a lot, StinVec!
EDIT – Unfortunately, after couple relogs it still resets :/

It actually seems like the Dragons’ weaknesses are connected with their biggest strength.
Zhaitan’s strength was the ability to raise corpses from the dead – furthermore his own body was composed from the corpses of other Dragons and thus his biggest weakness was his physical form as we were able to tackle him head on.
Mordremoth’s biggest strength seemed to be the ability to influence others and control minds through the Dream and thus his true spirit was rooted there. He could always regrow himself should his physical form be destroyed (Mouth of Mordremoth) and to completely finish him we had to go inside the dream and destroy his true form. In conclusion his biggest weakness was his mind that was sheltered within the Dream.
Experiencing exact same issue. However, why not just in the meantime do this story step on 32bit client and then go back to 64bit?
Hello,
After the last patch I have encountered a very strange graphical bug on my Sylvari Elementalist. What happens is that in Dungeons when u get downed (it can also happen in the outside world) there is a strange curly black bar in the characters hand. It doesnt dissapear afterwards unless you leave the dungeon. It can be very unnerving especially when u wield a scepter or a dagger since it is visible through the weapon (when wieldieng a staff it gets hidden behind the staff skin).
Please look into this issue. I have encountered it on every computer i have (with different settings each) so its not bound to some graphical flaw within the computer. I don’t know whether it happens on other classes or races.
I have attached a screenshot of that thing.
Just today I have been doing map completion on Malchor’s Leap and finding those challenges on the map was a real pain. A different colour would save the day.
Ok, couldn’t find it with search option. Thanks! Please delete or close
(edited by eMKay.4028)
I would suggest that you change the color of the Hero challenges. As it is now they are in many cases hard to distinguish from the background on the world map. The pale, sand-like hue doesn’t help them in being seen. The blue color for old Skill Point Challenge icon was far better in terms of being seen.
As an example I have been recently doing map completion on Malchor’s Leap – i took me couple minutes to locate some Hero Challenges on the map because they blended with the backgroun.
My main class is ele. However, since I started to dislike my human female (made her just for the T3 armor) I created a new Sylvari Elementalist last September – thus I had to level her up.
The weapon I have been using mostly is Staff. It delivers very good damage while also giving you substancial CC on mobs, providing swiftness combo (40s), projectile reflect and evasion. The fact that it is 1200 range weapon laso cannot be overlooked. Keeping that in mind I was already very skilled with class thats why I burned through the leveling process without problem (I leveled the ususal way – hearts, events etc.).
Another good combo would be Dagger/Dagger. It provides good evasiveness, good dmg and mobility. However for it to shine it requires some traits, and after you get them its better to switch to Dagger/Focus of the useful utilities from the latter.
In the end my suggestion would be to stick with the staff. Given the very limited access to traits during the leveling it still shines it every are required in combat. Once you get necessary traits it will be even better
Bugs me as well. On top of that they were completely removed from Black Lion Weapon Specialists without previous notice. Just watch that price skyrocket :/
My 3 new experiences today:
AC P3 – we approach the last boss directly in the open. A war goes into the corner and starts yelling at us, calling us noobs, ordering to “pack” and whatnot. We kill the boss in couple secs and he proceeds to rub his head how did that happen without stacking…
CM Full – A Cat Guard joins the party. Not untill the 1st boss did we realize it was a Sherman! However, we decided to keep it since we wanted to check out the new Mace Meta! Neverthless the Kitty Sherman proceeded to make our lives miserable by spamming Mace/Staff 1 and ovelapping our Stealth fields… FUN!
Adn the last one – SE P3. Again starring Sherman Guard, this time a Norn Lady. Mace auto – no more. Not only was she offensive by complaining at our “low dps” but… Last boss, I procceed to attack it in the open and the Sherman starts yelling at me. I have found my time, between the dodgeing, strafing (on my ele) and other stuff to survive there alone to ask “why”? The response: “No dmg in the corner and for the little ones”… No ***t no dmg with the Mace auto And by the little ones I guess she was talking about the adds… so what with them? The answer to that will probably be never given

First of all this is not a rant against meta. Actually I am all for meta, myslef doing speedruns etc. Whoa – not an anti meta post!? SACRILEGE ON THIS FORUM!
Anyway, back to the point. I wan to talk about a completely pointless way of stacking. A way that is so September 2014. I am talking about corner/wall stacking.
We all know that back when FGS (Fiery Greatsword) was used, it was required to stand against a wall or in a corner in order to take full advantage of its skill 4 and 3. However, after the September 2014 nerf the FGS is used no more. Nevertheless, people and mainly PUG’s insist on stacking in corners etc. pointing out it boosts their dps (!!!) or allows for an easier dodge.
The point is that this way of stacking is completely useless in most encounters it was used before the nerf. Yet people think that the corner/wall will spawn some magical voodoo effect that, I don’t know, will rack up their dps up by 50% or make the boss immobile or some other gimmick. What happens is that the corner pulling is done by using up the defiance window on the boss, therefore not allowing to freeze it. It is funny, because many of the so called “Meta Zerk, exp, 5k ap, gearcheck” teams on LFG seems to do that. As an insult to injury when trying to be polite and educate in those matters I many times hapen to be “shooned”:
- “Come here, kill the boss on the spawn point”
- No, CORNER BETTER!
- Seriously, why?
- BECAUSE!
And so on and on. Why corner stacking is pointless. Well there are some classes, thief most noticeable, that take advantage of flanking, which is way harder to impossible to do in the corner. Some boss attacks can be avoided just by strafing – again hardly possible in corners. Also, many corner stacking, as noted above, require pushing the boss towards it using CC wasting a valuable chance to Deep Freeze the kitten. I know that in many cases corners are used to pull the mobs together – its fine then coz we are using clever thinking to kill them faster. However in many cases its sumply pointless.
Here are some examples of copletely worthless stacking:
- AC P1/2/3 – all end bosses – not needed to stack next to the pillar, no fgs anymore guys!
- CoF P1 – Slave Driver – why? Because! People waste a chance to use Deep Freeze
- CoE – Subject Alpha – his pillar attack can be dodged by strafing (not possible in the corner), pushing him towards the wall wastes usefull Deep Freeze oportunity
There are obviously more. Also I would like to point out that many strategies have been changed/updated! When someone tells you to kill some stuff and do something and gives you the REASON for that – try to listen ok? When you are being told to kill the 3 Breeders on AC p3 right before the last boss and the reason is so that Grast doesnt stop on them and goes with you to the boss (it takes like 5 secs?) don’t run straight ahead like a bunch of apes. Also when people talk a bout killing a champ that has been skipped in the past and most of them aggre – don’t be a jerk or use that reading ability and do what the rest of the team is doing – PLEASE!
Last but not least I wasnt to point one thing out. Many times when I asked ppl why do they stack in those corners they come up with a reason: "DnT does that?, or “Nike said so!” No they do not stack and play like PUGS. Believe me that speedruns are on whole different level. However I would like you guys (from DnT, rT or other speedrunning guild) to try to also educate ppl on those matters. Most of Dungeon community look up to you and you seem to set up trends in the way Dungeons are ran so PUGS will listen.
But in the end, to all ppl that think they are great, yet they aren’t: use your brains, try to understand the reason behind different strategies and use that skill of perception of yours! It doesn’t hurt after all… or does it?
Anyway, that will be all! Hang in there folks!
Yours sincerely
eMKay
If they were to add profession specific weapons I guess they could be quite elaborate and distinctive. These would be my ideas:
Warrior – Great Axe
Guardian – Halberd
Engineer – Automatic Crossbow
Thief – Sniper Rifle
Ranger – Whip
Necromancer – Scythe
Elementalist – Arcane Orb
Mesmer = Mirror
I checked the wiki and went with the Chest of Ascended Crafting Materials as it gives you 1 Vision Crystal and 1 or 2 of Damask, Elonian, Deldrimor or Spiritwood (random). I was lucky enought to get 2 Damask
As an elementalist your passive defense is already extremely low and you not likely to improve it very much with PVT gear – it will allow you to sustain 1 or 2 more hits and wont do much in high level fractals since the mobs hit so hard that youre likely to die in 1 or 2 hits.
That said it’s way better to invest in Berserker armor since you gotta use you Active defense to survive (Dodge, Arcane Shield, Mist Form, Signet of Storms, Reflects, Invulnerability, Boons like Vigor from Arcana II etc.).
The bonus from Scholar can be lost extremely easily if you do not run in a coordinated group. All the videos of DnT and other assume that everyone is as good as they are. Tbh they should make build for people that are not really that good or at least provide guidance in that matter – telling people to equip Kinghts armor is not enough.
If you cannot maintain that bonus, simply go with Strength. Its the go to set for D/F and S/D/F builds. Scholar is more usefull for Staff but, again, if youre using only 1 armor go with Strength. Scholar is really about min/max the dps. What is really more imrpotand is your ability to stay alive with the zerk build and actually keep doing the damage
The “healer” type of gameplay with ele is not really the good way to go. It’s been explained to death that GW2 playstyle works DIFFERENTLY from the common mmo Holy Trinity type. Each charracter has:
1. DPS – which are damaging skills
2. Heal – ussualy the 6th skill but can be occasionally some other ones
3. Support – neccessary weapon and utility skills that provide Active Defense (reflects, invulnerability, blocks, boons like vigor, might, protection, aegis etc)
The gameplay is about each class maintaning as much damage with as much neccesary support it can provide. Since healing power CANNOT outheal the damage mobs do in most PVE and especially high level Fractals, you HAVE to rely on either Passive Defense (Toughness, Vitality) or Active Defense (dogdes and things mentioned above) to survive the battle WHILE doing as much damage as you can since the mobs can and will go down quickly if you are good enough.
The gameplay in this game is MORE about skill and reacting to the situation and mindless button mashing. Yes there are people that think Meta is all about 5 Warriors spamming 100b. Well – these teams suffer quickly. Its all about cleverness and skill.
To sum up – Do Not Go into healing – you will not help the team. You will be really a deadweight since you wont do any damage, the heal will not provide really any support as you wont be able to outheal the damage.
Adding to that the ele is not really even good in active healing. Just for the sake of it I recently made 3 characters that seemed to have viable healing builds: Ele, Necro and Guard. Only the Guardian could make any difference but that was on condition I used its potential to the FULLEST which the PUG healing guards dont even do to 50% since they camp staff only thinking they make LOTS of difference.
However, it was obsolete in normal dungs – where it could be useful was with my guilds “i play how i want” members in Ta Aether and Fractals. Then I took it for level 50 fractal and boom – even with my dearest wishes I simply wasnt able to outheal the dps and keep in mind that in healing the Guardain was FAR SUPERIOR to the ele.
Summing up – get yourself to know the builds from the Metabattle site. Also check out DeeKeyZ’s video about Dagger/Focus ele – the one to rule them all because it is all in one really
As Asura and Charr are ruled out lets think about the rest:
1. Sylvari – my fav race, I have 5 out of 9 characters that are Sylvari and even stopped playing my main human ele in order to make a Sylvari one which is my main now. There are some drawbacks however.
When it comes to this race they, IMO, only look good in cultural armor (they actually look amazing). They essentialy have human animations but dont really look great in normal type of clothes so if you dont wanna go for a plant like style with luminescence I wouldn’t bother. Also, since you dont wanna roll female (they look far better than males and have nicer animations imo) you gotta know that males have some issues with bulky skirts when it comes to pants. As an indult to injury theirbelt weapons when not used seem to float in the air – they are quite far away from the body.
2. Human – an all around good race. Since, again, you dont wanna a female (their cultural T3 looks dashing), the male looks quite nice in cultural T3 as well as in other armors. They are, however, the most used race in game and quite bland IMO. I used to have only one human – that was my female elementalist which I made for the emperor title and because I had to shelf my sylvari necro since she became obsolete in pve. Never, however, was I satisfied 100% with how she looked so finally this September I made a new sylvari ele and kept the human as a mule. You can get some nice looks if you work good enough. Again remember that I use Cultural armor on all my sylvaris – in normal attire human looks way better.
3. Norn – these are something to consider. I am not a big fan of them myself as I only have one female Norn Ranger but they have unique animations and look… well… specific. The male is like a Juggernaut and having an ele that looks like that can lead to some unique results
Anyway it’s all about your own tastes. Just think about pros and cons of every race before you make one since there is no race change
Actually hardcore dungeoneers have all the Infusion slots filled with those. They get the money needed quickly coz Dungeons are still, apart from the clever TP marketing, they best and most lucrative way to earn money.
The restriction is there to prevent you from using not the two same ascended rings, trinket or whatnot but from utilizing the same type of infusion slots – offensive or defensive. That is why you cannot have two same rings with offensive infusion slots both. Same goes for defensive slots.
I guess this same made because these slots can be equipped with certain infusions that boost you stats, for example Mighty Infusion give not only +5 Agony Resist but also +5 Power but it can be slotted only in an offensive infusion slot.
Nemis, I agree. However it’s not the problem of the skill but of the rules. In my opinion the usage of Fiery Rush should have been limited, for example to one boss per path or even forbidden furing the tournament. That way we would see many different possibilities of whacking the boss without that skill. Could be entertaining.
You have to understand, however, that it is the 1st contest of that type in GW2. DnT will take notice of the way the dungeons are ran during the comeptition and will adjust rules for future instalments. I am positive that they will see how boring it is to watch the dungs being ran with FR – they may as well forbid that next time
ArenaNet has already congratulated players during Tequatl for destroying it’s wall using Fiery Rush. So there, you should have your answer.
The thing with FGS is that the 4th skill was designed with 2 functions in mind – rushing forward leaving a fiery trail and a leap. When no target is chosen, you run forward, and each step ticks for damage. That is the way you can deal huge damage while rushing towards the wall.
Is it however an exploit? Certainly not. It’s in my opinion a clever usage the skill mechanic. What would you like to happen? Of course nerf it and just sit there whacking the boss for a longer period of time. Looking at the video you provided it’s not all that easy to pull it off – the elementalist had to position himself cleverly and take advantage of the situation. That clever thinking and situational awerness has been rewarded by a huge amount of damage. By the design elementalists are the powerhouse of the game – by the design they are also the squishiest.
The problem is not with the skill but with the boss mechanics. You should ask yourself – will changing Fiery Rush do anything? What would be the purpose of that change other than making the fight last longer? The dungeons are currently boring – we have been doing the same content for almost 2 years now – making people to run them longer would just be…well..more boring. Nerfing FGS would not increase difficulty but make the battles more tedious.
As I have said – you should rather ask why does the boss allow itself to be pulled to corner and killed within seconds? That’s the problem you should talk about! If that is was not possible player would have to have the situational awereness and try to smack the boss against the wall to quickly use Fiery Rush. I must admit, currently it’s just too easy, but nerfing the skill won’t change anything. Again it will make, already extremely easy fights, LONGER!
Look at Fractal – the amount of moments when you can use Fiery Rush as easily as in Dungeons is minimal! Why? Different boss mechanics, not allowing themselves to be melted, etc.
Next time, please, before rambling about a skill and trying come out with some kind of frustration, try to thing about the problem in a bigger spectrum

It’s a common bug with the Sylvari Cultural Armor. It triggers when you go underwater while wearing Graveborn Aquabreather or Tequatl Aquabreather – the textures of these masks somehow get rendered onto some parts of the cultural armor creating the look depicted in your screenshots.
I had the same problem and there is no way to fix it other than changing textures of your aquabreather – I’d suggets getting the Consortium Breathing Mask of TP (it’s what I did) and transmute your mask into it. Hope that helps
Hey,
I don’t know if this issue has been mentioned before. I concerns swapping a utility signet while a utility skill next to it is on cooldown. Generally what happens is that the signet gets the same cooldown as the skill next to it.
Example:
An elementalist is having 3 utility skills attached to slots 7, 8, 9
7 – Arcane Blast
8 – Arcane Shield
9 – Signet of Fire
Now the player has used Arcane Shield thus setting it on 90s cooldown. After that he wants to swap Signet of Fire into Signet of Air for 25% extra speed. What happens, however, is that the signet gets the same cooldown as Arcane Shield (it hasnt been even used).
This bug may create even greater issue – the Signet gets a cooldwon 3 times bigger than it actually has! Imagine having a Necro with Signet of Undead slotted to 8 and on cooldown and swapping skill 9 for Signet of Spite – the Signet of Spite immediately goes on cooldown the same as Signet of Undead.
This bug triggers only if you swap INTO a signet on a utility slot next to the skill on cooldown.
Thanks for you attention Hope this gets fixed!
*Here are some screenshots that depict this issue
(edited by eMKay.4028)
Both Spoj’s and DS build make use for the core 3 utilities: Well of Suffering, Blood is Power and Signet of Spite. The Heal is Consume Conditions and for the Elite I’d suggest Flesh Golem.
On occasion you may swap Signet of Spite fo SIgnet of Locusts for 25% Speed Buff (useful when running Open World with not many foghts on the road and in the cicties) ora change the signet for another Well should you need more AoE to tag mobs (like the current Living Story content). Hope that helps
I really like Violette Heliotrope – has a nice vibe to it – 9/10
Cynthia Wallflower seems more normal to me without anything amazing in particular but still 7/10
Ballatrix Accacia – also 7/10 – the joining of the name and surname doesn’t have the flow to me but i like the tendency you have chosen there
Myself I don’t really like the roleplay way of naming in MMO’s. WIth that in mind:
Sylvari Female Necromancer – Bad Cabbage
Sylvari Female Mesmer – Viva La Levativa
Sylvari Female Thief – Black Salad (it has specific origin – look it up if ya want)
The other one you might look at is the DS Power Build. Not as much damage as the Dagger build suggested by Spoj but, since it’s ranged, better survivability.
30/10/0/0/30
Spite – VI, VIII, XII
Curses – VI
SR – II, VI, XII
Axe/Focus and Dagger/Warhorn
Scholar Runes in the armor (this build like no other has the potential to maintain that 10% buff since you do not take HP damage while in DS).
*In it’s initial version (still not changed on youtube) this build used to have 10 points in Death Magic for extra boon duration and might duration runes. SInce without the you will have a constant of 10 stacks of Might withiout Blood is Power and the rest of might is provided by other classes, might stacking runes are pretty useless. WAY better to make place for those Scholars here.
The build will carry you through all the content with no problems.
Bear in mind that it is not suggested for Meta speedruns. Well in my opinion Necro doesnt really have place in Speedruns at all. People seem to misunderstand that Meta is all about dealing maximum dmg. In reality however, it is all about dealing Maximum Dps WHILE maintaing good means to stay alive and WHILE providing useful utilities to a party. Necro is more of a selfish class – no good party wide utilities there and if they are…well simply other classes do it way better.
The DS Power Build is great for Living Story content, Open World PVE, normal Dungeon Runs and Fractals. Should you learn to play it well youre in for some good dps on your part. Just the pick the one that suits your needs better
Currently there is no way to determine a good player via LFG. Thats why people have to make these requirements inorder to TRY to distinguish and find a player they want.
AP – usually high AP means that a person has spent quite an amount of time in the game and SHOULD (doesn’t mean HAS) have some idea about the dung, the way it’s supposed to be played etc.
Experienced – hardly a wall that stops those inexperienced from joining. Lots of people wanting to get carried there and looking for those experienced groups just to do the dung quicklyu while doing nothing.
Lv80 – yeah….and then lv 62 joins for CoE…
Gearcheck – this actually can show that some1 has that gear and most of the time uses it. I haven’t seen any situation when some1 was showing Zerk gear and using like Cleric – however, I do not exclude these situations. Still gearcheck can fulfill it’s purpose which is…. finding a player with the gear we want, but not necessarily being a good player.
From my experience demanding both like 3-5k AP and gearcheck allows you to get a decent Speedrunning group via LFG. If you don’t want to Speedrun just go with either – it’s pugging so risk is included
Also I find that people with 15k+ AP usually suck hard in the Dungeons and Fractals when finding them on LFG (not all the time of course). Why? wel these are mostly AP farmers. A player that has being playing from headstart, been doing Living Story, many dungeons and fractals has around 12-13k AP by now – on average. People with 15+k AP have been mostly farming Ap’s and that well…never teaches you how to kill Lupi or Fire Shaman
(edited by eMKay.4028)
If you run the DS Power Build – Frostfang is the nice idea.
If yuo run the Dagger Power build – might consider Howler.
Either way the underwater Legendaries look pretty nice – both the Kamohoali and Kraitkin.
Bah, another face gone loony. However, the new Sylvari faces indeed have a problem – the one I found is that the new faces do not show particle effects of the Sylvari skin as they should do. You will only see this once you turn the Shaders on – Sylvari skin and old faces seem to have a luminescent glow to it (it’s not the colored glow you can change) whereas the new faces are blank with no shader to them. Made me not pick one of them
Oh if we are talking about cultural armor bugs, could you also look at the textures changes on some Cultural Armors for Sylvari while using Graveborn’s Breather underwater or the Tequatl ones? The textures from these masks overlay the textures of the amors itself (I had to reskin my tequatl mask because of that).
I do believe this is a matter of class, armor looks and animation. It depends also heavily on the race chosen.
When it comes of Humans and Sylvari, the male animation seems lackluster. Of course these two races differ but for example the stance animation looks…. just dull if you ask me. Nothing fancy really.
The other thing with these two races is how they handle armor and weapons. Never really played male Human, but I can tell you a lot of wrong things with male Sylvari. The armor has a strange bulk in the waist area making whatever a male char wears look like a dress and the weapons are too far away from the body making them clip with the hands – they are also positioned awkwardly (not an issue with Human male). The weapons used to be closer to the body but as they changed female a while back (females used to have weapons too close to the body sometimes making them disappear under the clothes) they also changed males… now the weapons float. Overall males look like golems while females have a very nice, smooth animations. When in combat the look like a panther ready to leap, have nice running and jumping. Furthermore the armor look way better on them
No really gonna go with the detail about other classes and races but there are not as many problems like with Sylvari (I have 4 Sylvari and all females cause I can’t stand how blocky and unnatural males look). It basically depends on the class.
For example I have got a Female Norn Ranger, Male Asura Engi, Female Human Ele and Male Charr Warrior (rest are Sylvari). I just find females fitting for these class/race combos and males for others
To be honest I have found quite a nice replacement look for my necro, so I am not bothered that much anymore….
Still I will be standing with those that do not like the changes at all and the way they were implemented
And now… a pic (yes, I am happy to able to get a rather nice look after a day of frustration becasue of these changes
)
Mind giving up a screenie of your dye slots and dye combos? That’s the look I USED to have, and have yet to be able to reclaim.
Regardless, I still am incensed at the loss of textures.
I do not mind at all – the Dyes used are Summer Sky (goes well with glow and weapons/Capacitor) and Midnight Ice
I’ll leave the mixing up to you, however
And another thing – Kristen Perry has submitted a response on the main thread – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/My-dyes-have-changed/page/4#post3129782. I find it very satisfying and it explains a lot
And this is exactly what we needed Ms Perry! Your response on the matter
Thank you for your hard work and we do hope the final effect will be dazing
Thank you once again – now we can play with hope in our hearts! YAY ^^

You will plead for a roll back when there are only two set people are crying over t3 medium/light sets. So let me get it straight you will scream bloody murder over 2 sets that you and a few forums folks hate changes two and you and the forum people who hate it don’t make up a mass majority cues the majority don’t even respond in the forums same can be said about the people who like it i am not claiming that i speak for the majority/minority but most certainly you are in the last few post you have made on this subject. What i suggest you do is go make a new thread aimed at giving better constructive criticism and list possible changes and express in a better attitude about the changes made but i see you have you said your probly done if this change is not rollback/reverted outright that be a wast of time for you.
As I see hardly any argument comes through to you. Not that we were told that there you be a “collaborative development” when there was none on this matter, that in normal developer/customer situation you would be able to get a refund. That set is NOT what I have bought. I am not buyng an expectation for how the et may look like. I am buying what the set looks like at the moment of my purchase. And changing that is a violation of a contract. What assurance do I have that other things I agree on now won’t be acnged drastically over time? How sure I can be that the game won’t go PTP after some time? – that’s the point I am making.
Secondly you have clearly not looked at the forums and the threads created, expecially “https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/My-dyes-have-changed/first”. There is a majority of people hating the change and any persons with even asmall sense of aesthetics will know why. We know what was to be the final result but it turned out worse than it was. We appreciate the effort but failures happen sometimes and we are not angry about that. As I have said earlier we are angry about not consulting such a drastic change with us and forcing it upon us. Should there ahve been a opinion poll and the majority voted for that change I would just exlaim my not liking the change but that would be it. The change would be fair because the majority would have wanted it. In the game whatever sylvari I have talked with they DO NOT LIKE the change. So don’t create a myth that I come with my claims out of the sky.
Last but not least, I will have to repeat myself because you have madfe a response and an argument without even noting that I answered that argument in my post. I will not be happy about every change made to the game and i will not jump like a chipmonk in favor of something being done. That makes you a lemming. We ahve brains and our own throughts on different subjkects and this forum was created to allow us to exrpess our opinion, whether a good or bad. You are happy with the change – lucky you. Most of us aren’t.
Be vocal should you not like the change! (If, by an unknown reason to me, you like…then explain… I want to know cause its a mystery to me)
We still plead to change it back!

The Glow looks fantastic. Just because your previous dye combination isnt PERFECT anymore doesnt mean you cant find one that will be again. Stop ’yer moaning and start mixing dyes.
Hah I do hope that your perfect look gets destroyed one day. I want to see how you will react then. You have to bite it that you are in minority here. There are some people that dont want to have any glow at all – what about them? They had their look and now they don’t. Some people had their favorite look, now they do not.
Imagine if you buy a coat and love how it looks. But after a year it’s look suddenly changes! I bet you would go to the store to have a refund. Just because you like that change it isn’t justified. It’s selfish and you know it. You had a year to mix your combination.
The change is for the worse and majority of sylvari community agrees with me.
Its also kinda selfish of you to want the old system back its not fair for people who like the new system and are now spending and getting syvari armor to mix match and get the glow they always wanted so changing it back will be a double edge sword. The point is you cant please every body so i suggest you get to mixing and matching to find some things that can work for you. Any way Ms Perry said she was working to make things better so relax and bite the bullet.
The thing is that no one has told us about it in advance. Normally, should this happen you are bound to get a refund which doesn’t apply here. To be honest the only ones that like the changes here on forums are You, Nightingale and NEOS. Majority is displeased, however.
Tell me then, how does this apply to the fact that when people wanted change to existing sylvari hairstyles it was refused due to possibility of making people that like the existing hairstyles unhappy with the changes? Why then it happened here?
Furthermore you cannot blindly accept everything being thrown at you. It makes you a lemming. Saying that I should “bite the bullet” just because you like the change and just because I should be simply happy that something is being changed, even for worse, is plain ridiculous. That’s why there is the forum to be able to remain vocal about what we like and what we do not. Seriously, no one was bashing you (by you i mean people that like the look) until you have started attacking us ungrateful. Last but not least you cannot simply accept something because it took long time to implement – if it’s bad then we have a possibility to say so and plead for a change back!
You had a year to get you look – why didn’t you manage it then? Why al of sudden this change is great? To be honest what is great about this change? The hard to match glow? The lack of textures? The lack of waxy feel to the armors? The plain coloring areas? I have managed to get some kind of an OK look, but I cannot go back to any of what I had before – and that is called lots of possibilities?
Again I have to emphasize – you cannot change something you give to your consumer. Imagine going to the store and getting newest Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. you play it for a while but after a week you look at the box and see Prince of Persia 2008? What would you do? Get a refund! Since we cannot have it here we plead for this to be as they were before. We didn’t ask for this, we didn’t know how the changes would be, no one felt it was necessary to consult us, the final consumers – it was forced on us by the minority. And we will plead for the rollback!
If there was any discussion the I bet that no one wanted to sacrifice any textures just for the glow that can be seen only at night. Should we have been informed about this change and how these armors look in advance we would have said: “No, we don’t want that!” However, due to the lack of such information we have just been forced to appreciate the result, which we cannot! No matter how little (yes little instead of big) the group of people actually liking the change (dunno why) is!
This is excellent work. Ive read posts on this upcoming change in the sylvari section where they explained exactly how hard it is to make this kind of update and the flat-out truth is that you ought to be grateful. They put in a lot of work to make the sylvari glow work and it should be appreciated. I know we’re all very sorry that YOUR special combination of dyes that was just PERFECT before no longer looks the same. But I’m afraid youre just gonna have to find something else that works….
And another thing: this kind of update took several months to get released since its inception, if you try and make them rework it again: not only will you not see it for quite a while, but you might like it less. Not to mention the fact that many of us like myself really like the changes.
Bottom line: Bite the bullet and get used to the change. There are new combinations to explore and ONE of them will meet your needs. Thank anet for responding to our cries for this change and make it work.
And because the minority likes it, it is fine to keep? Then why didn’t you “bite the bullet” before and get you look. Maybe you simply couldn’t… lack of creativity or such?
Bottom line: Then needs of the many outweight the needs of the few. ArenaNet, please! Bring us back the great looking, nicely textured and cell shaded armors! Bring us back what we love! None of us is happy now and we dread every minute playing with our favorite toon now that we feel powerless! Many of us can even quit for some time because of this and you know it! PLEASE, DO REVERT IT! PLEASE!

I would like to add my five cents. Firstly sorry about being so impulsive about the change. We really do appreciate you work and changes you try to do. Nevertheless, this change has turned out badly for majority of us. To be honest, I haven’t heard more than couple of people complaining about the lack of glow – we simply liked the armor as it was.
This change however, has destroyed the looks we have all been working for. You cannot simply change what has been good after 1 year – you should have added new armor that would incorporate nice glow patterns. That way people wanting more glow would be happy while keeping the rest of us content. Now you have opened a pandora box. Nothing makes people more angry than some downgrade to their characters, and changing the armor look for the worse is something like that. It can successfully stop people from playing for a while, believe me.
In favor of glowing armor (which again we didn’t need, we loved it as it was) you have sacrificed textures and great dye patterns. We were left with bland armors, with hardly dyeable parts. Same dye has completely different tint on different armor pieces. Armor looks way worse and that’s just not my opinion.
As for the glow its hardly usable. I’ll give an example – my Female Sylvari Necro has a T3 Light Armor. She has Black skin, Midnight Sky hair and Streamlet glow. The armor was dyed with Midnight Sky as the main dye, Midnight Ice and accented with Blue Sky to go with the Streamlet glow. All that was made, along with Pale sky eyes, with Frostfang and Corrupted Weapons in mind. After the change not only the colors got reverted and do not match, but the glow on the armor is WHITE! So if I wanted my armor to glow like my char does I would be forced to dye it mainly in blue tinted dye. This is on contrary to what has been stated, giving us actually less possibilities to look good.
I know that you wanted it to come out nice, but something so radical like this has to be announced in advance so you could hear the feedback on in. People wouldn’t rage like they do now (i don’t blame them) but simply give their opinion that they do not want it. but you decided to change it without notice and it made players angry.
And last but not least…let’s get to some begging… PLEASE, Please DO revert this change! It made our sylvari’s look way worse! Please listen to us and give us back our armor looks. If people want more glow than make them new armors.
We want back our clothes! Winter is coming!
But what is the point of having to dye the main pannel of the armor in order to match the character glow? Couldn’t the armor glow just match the glow of the character (not the skin)? Now the glow is affected by the skin or the main color WHICH MAKES ME to change my color into that, and I hate it. This is painful
I mean really, who would choose the different main color to make it glow against the one he or she choose at the character creation/makeover??? Why cannot it just glow in the same way as sylvari character glow? Or simply make a different panel just for the glow? Now contrary to what you have stated there are LESS options (provided you want to look good) as you have to dye your main panel into the same dye as your character glow in order for it to look ok. No more different shades, no more ying-yang types of coloring, on more fun. Not event mentioning the HUGE dissapearance of detail. Why Kristen? In your other post you stated, I quote: “Some folks may have picked the hair style because they loved it as is. To change it for one may change it negatively for another” – source https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/sylvari/New-Hair-Cool-but-Disappointed. Now you did just that? I mean what the kitten?!
This change really made me hate my toon, and really I feel devastated. So devastated that I lost all incentive to play for a while… really…

How can I choose the glow color? Before the patch (which actually messed my all effort…thanks for that) I had a Black skinned sylvari with Midnight Sky Hair, Streamlet glow and Midnight Sky, Midnight Ice and Blue Sky dyes to go well with my Fractal Capacitor, Frostfang and Corrupted weapons. After the patch, despite the dyes pattern change, the glow is WHITE. Please tell me how can i change it… it looks plain bad on my toon
Hello
I do…i do really hope this is a bug. I don’t know what has happened but the last patch has messed the dye scheme on sylvari cultural armors. All the time and effort we took on getting our perfect look is gone now.
I try not to rabble about what you are doing wrong with this game. I have tried to defend you many times hoping as the time passes the game gets better. But I cannot stand by when something like this happens.
People have been spending their in-game gold, some of them real world money to get their favorite, unique look. If this change is permanent then it’s bad. you cannot change something that has been good for over a year just like that making it WORSE. I am one of those people that has been playing GW for years (first 1 now 2) and I want to get my character sprite just right so I can be happy with it’s look. Now all the effort is wasted – the same dye has different tint on different parts of the armor, the pattern is completely flipped.
If this is intentional then…. I see a bit of hypocrisy here unfortunately. Kristen Perry stated in a thread, that you cannot alter existing hair styles becasue: “Some folks may have picked the hair style because they loved it as is. To change it for one may change it negatively for another” – source https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/sylvari/New-Hair-Cool-but-Disappointed. What you have done here is exactly that. Why do you change something as important as armor after a year without any notice, no consultation when they are needed in a change like that just to please, and i emphasize, VAST MINORITY. I have never heard anyone to be very upset about the lack of glow on some cultural armors – yes some said that they would like it but we LOVED our armors they way they were. Now it’s ruined…
Should this be intentional I guess I’ll be fed up with you for some time. It isn’t about the game which is good and getting better, it’s about your attitude towards players and how your treat them. I won’t be taking out my friend’s recent problems with you about his Guild name (with your arguments being plain silly). The developer – consumer relation is based upon trust. If there isn’t one and you simply don’t care, I am not obliged to show any love. Making a change like this to a character look/design heavy game without letting us know in advance is in my opinion breakage of that trust. Should this be the case – you lost one customer for some time.
I do appreciate your hard work and love for sylvari but this change is for the worse and VAST MAJORITY will admit that. Please if you care about sylvari community, revert that change. Bring us our past looks, please…
However, if this is a bug, please do accept my apologies… but do change it.
Yours sincerely
eMKay
- edit – I have just read that it was made to make the armors glow. Unfortunately this has further messed my toon – I have a Black skinned, Midnight Sky hair dyed, and Streamlet glowing Female Necro with Mindight Sky, Midnight Ice and Blue Sky Dyes on T3 Light. Not only the pattern has changed but the glow comes from the skin, no even the chosen glow…this is really painful… well I guess ill be getting a break. Don’t get me wrong but I just can’t look at that toon, sorry. I feel really cheated.

Well I will support this idead. Playing my necro in Midnight Sky, Midnight Ice and Steam colored T3 Sylvari with Corrupted Weapons I’d love to see blueish effects of necromancer attacks. Ppl would actually dig it but as many ppl stated it’s not tha necessary
YES! Please put it back or at least make it an option! This login screen during beta was so EPIC!
Up! This is what we need!
