It’s pretty clear to everyone that has played guardian that we get the aggro. If you are the lone guardian in a dungeon party, you better stack all the vigor, blocking, and blinding you’ve got, cause the hammer is coming down.
Oddly enough, even when I’m in a party with another 80 guardian (or warrior), I often STILL get triple the attention. A boss will turn to give them a whack momentarily before turning back onto me.
My only explanation is that I’ve specialized into toughness with full exotic gear. All in all this isn’t a bad thing (except for my image), since many difficult encounters are made trivial by having three quarters of the mobs being kited by one player while everybody kills the rest one by one.
Anybody been having similar experience?
Anybody mind summarizing? Is this effect entirely due to melee assist range variation?

Maybe I’m mistaken, but I thought badges were primarily a reward for killing opposing players, not for showing up to wvw?
Yes it’s asymmetric. Yes it discourages support. But you know what? I think I’m okay with it. It is things like these that keep the game from becoming a mind numbing “everybody wins” adventure.
I will kill everyone I see in the jumping puzzle. PvP happens in WvW get used to it.
It’s people like this that make it so beautiful to run the puzzles alongside enemies that do not try to gank me. It’s also from people like this that I get great enjoyment from facerolling them as a kitten or while reading a book when they try to pick a fight or camp me.

I have a hard time making a guardian build that does NOT include 30 valor. Triple (or double) meditation is perhaps THE strongest setup guardian has available, with instant stunbreaks, condition removals, and top notch self healing without even spec’ing for it (smite condition has a very low cooldown).
The other grandmaster basically gives you a second signet (or better) in wvw because of the mass amount of buffs you apply with staff 4, not to mention all the buffs you can apply with shouts and virtues. Don’t forget, although the description wasn’t updated, you now get -20% cooldown AND +90 toughness on the shield trait; also don’t forget that shield 5 heal is now enabled in all areas.
I honestly don’t see how a guardian, who innately has pitiful HP totals, can get much done without resorting to healing provided by 30 valor…
