Yea is totally wonky, when it procs on my opener I can weapon swap and throw 2 fireballs with sigil of intelligence—but it is absurdly unreliable even with 30% crit chance or so.

On crit sigils aren’t random at all that’s the problem. They never miss by design unlike doom/leeching (much like incendiary powder, chill of death, and panic strike) giving them 0 counter-play. They are just BIS for dps in pvp.
If you play a build that they actually are random (soldier) they simply aren’t worth slotting at all because the payoff when they do proc isn’t worth it.

8v8 10v10 were super fun, play cheesy artillery builds and go ham… definitely should be around but definitely should be secondary
What would it take? Well probably better servers or more locations for pvp would be a start…. 80 ping is a bit high for twitch/reaction based gameplay.
The game just isn’t impressive visually. Players are just tiny polygons in a sea of glitter and effects… they don’t look or feel like kitten characters going head to head in an nail biting fight to the death fight to the downed state.
Of course the inability to fight 1v2, 2v3, and win is definitely something holding gw2 back as a competitive game… you can never clutch, you can never get lucky, you can never out-skill opponents by enough.
In 8 months when HoT is released and reasonably balanced maybe we can look at leagues and whatnot again.

I think the only real argument for giving thief rifle is that thief doesn’t have a 1200 range option…
Obviously it is absurd to say it is the logical choice because anet is free to pull whatever lore/rationale out of their kitten (lol dragonhunter) to justify their choice. Thief with shield for team support or scepter/torch for ‘shadow arts’ type abilities could just as easily be created.
Plus giving thief another burst option is hardly diversification… people whine enough without them being at max range. Maybe a condi sniper, but that seems bad

Its a guaranteed proc at 1/2 health that can hit for over 5k on a crit… add that to whatever attack triggered it (lich form hello) and it can instagib squishier classes.
And don’t say “just stay above 50% health the whole fight”

Whirlwind is one of THE strongest abilities in the game (if you can aim it). Load up double proc sigils and go to town.
HB combos are there to pressure not to kill outright.

i guess retreat got a buff in cooldown so it’s actually viable now… most guards still avoid it like the plague (I didn’t even realize it got a reduced CD til just now)
he is not dodging because he undervalues it and because he is not running energy sigils
there was a time when everyone ran healing signet over shelter… i think it has a place in high vitality builds that heal early and can survive an interrupt
also power necros are only a threat in deathshroud… that is when you start popping abilities to survive since it drains out naturally. Playing around spinal shivers proc is… next to impossible since its a proc.. just be aware you will get chunked when you hit 50% hp
just cleanse burn <1 second after its applied and ele loses too much damage to kill you.
people underestimate cleansing when fighting non condi builds
burn guardian has to be played extremely tightly to beat ele in comparison since they run so many cleanses… you really can’t afford to whiff JI or torch activation… or even burn on heal proc (which they won’t expect the first time anyway)
Getting pretty normal to see players just stop playing and sit in base while preventing themselves from getting idle kicked.
U don’t need to proc more often, they already proc almost instantly and assassins just lowers their damage

The cases where I want the evade outnumber the cases where I want boon steal like 10 to 1 (cause bountiful theft anyway). I’ve never had initiative issues and I still don’t, so I guess people who say they do are just spamming 33333 when autoattack would deal more DPS.
Change was only a nerf vs guards and eles(like it matters) but a buff in survivability which helps against the glass builds we are supposed to be fighting

Still have AI issues and get kited a lot, but running 1 spirit weapon in tankier builds is more viable now—such as soldier rune meditations. Sword command is hilariously short range which is a bit annoying
As opposed to 100b that could do consistently do 15k+ damage to 3 targets and potentially much much more.
And then it will be extremely rare that will you ever be hitting 5 of anything with it as well to “get the most out of it”. At most you’ll be hitting 2 or 3 targets.
100b also has a 3.5 second channel while arcing is only .5 seconds and less after cast. The DPS is as high or higher than 100b

Taking a utility IS speccing. Many players run greatsword just because they want greatsword.
The executioner mechanic refers to the thief trait that only gives +20% damage under half health… so it performs much better than “executioner style” and your point is invalid
Those are condition bursts that are obviously not to be compared with power skills.
You can’t stunbreak if you are downed, and forcing players to stunbreak from a low cd skill is more than acceptable. Unless you are a soloQer and don’t have teammates to coordinate with.

What other adrenaline dumps? This isn’t even a dump, you can fire it off and get meaningful damage from just swapping weapons once (with adren on swap). Evis will still miss due to random garbage or good players saving escapes because evis is way more telegraphed.
We do not have enough aoe on greatsword, after blowing 100b and almost dying trying to cleave down a body, this is exactly what we needed
i recommend long reach because you will be playing against 90% rangers
no idea what people are playing, skill went from one rarely used to one I now use at nearly every opportunity
became massively easier to land, faster, spammable
greatsword is still garbage compared to hammer but its super fun on roaming s/gs
skill is pretty kittening good, why dont you try it instead of whining
full damage on 1 bar of adren, easily spammable, quick enough to combo with cc, large aoe, gives enormous amount of free fury…

Right now, there’s no drawback to spamming your burst skill on cooldown: you either hit or you keep your adrenaline and get to try again as soon as the cooldown is up. That’s what this major Adrenaline change is adding; a drawback. One that makes it so burst skills can actually be balanced properly.
Well losing the fight is a pretty big drawback, which is basically what happens when you miss burst skills—this is what players are getting at.
Unfortunately some builds that we all know about can survive whiffing burst skills so the whole warrior profession is getting nerfed because of it
Well if you don’t consider situational awareness and decision making to be “skill” then of course pvp is not skill based cause that’s all it is.
Need for things like aim, timing/rhythm, team coordination, memory, multitasking are all extremely limited in this kind of game. This is why I satisfy those urges with osu! or old school shooters
I always liked the idea of being able to double up attunements so you could have both staff fire and s/d fire as 2 of your 4(for example); would have given builds a hell of a lot more flavor and made investing into specific trait lines more rewarding
I have seen a LOT of WvW builds coming into spvp in the past two weeks including heaps of spvp useless p/d players…. Did I miss something? Are there horrible match ups lately?

I don’t think the OP knows how the thief teleportation works. If the thief can walk there, without having to jump at any point during the movement and is within range, the SB arrow will move them there.

Ground target is good/bad. Means u could precast it in some cases but thief/mesmer might teleport away randomly. Targeted skills land in stealth anyway if you were already casting them so w/e.
Anyway skill is too strong for anet and they don’t want professions to have anything terribly unique so it won’t happen.
I got hit for 15k by an autoattack in spvp and 5k was fire + air pls nerf
Capture the flag will just lead me to shed tears for how far the game mode has fallen in the past 15 years.

Every pvper worth their salt knows how to play, we don’t need you putting it into words. Clearly the change leaves these traits—and the warriors who use them—in a worse spot than before. Just being more descriptive than the previous person does nothing to address his concerns
People need to stop talking about the traits as if they have no reference to how it will perform. Just look at how warrior works currently-these traits are well balanced; only a few niche builds use them in pvp but they are still just as strong as a GM should be. Any nerf to them will clearly leave them underperforming.
The tradeoff for traits is that you can’t take a different one… There’s no need to fabricate additional tradeoffs unless something is overpowered.

Try using your brain, if the teams are randomised and you can’t force autobalance to team swap you cannot choose to be on the “winning” side. The system as it is now lets me or anyone else manipulate the game to be on the winning or superior side, which is why it needs to be changed.
Spectate/autobalance is created when games are 5v4 or 4v3. Games are 5v4 or 4v3 because of people leaving. Guess where that bigger problem of imbalance comes from? You clearly have a brain, as you would be a massive hypocrite not to after the insult to Deimos.
Unless you come up with a proposal to prevent people from leaving hotjoin (crappier Solo Queue anyone?), or some way to keep the score balanced so someone will come in and stay as the last spot in the 5v4, once a match becomes 5v4 people will keep leaving at an equal or faster rate than people entering.
Sorry but your ideas are too shallow and restrictive. Until you accept that 5v4 is a problem, spectate/autobalance doesn’t create those 5v4s, and spectate/autobalance doesn’t happen until 5v4, any proposal submitted by you will just further imbalance matches.
How can you make staying in the match with a rank 9 player more favorable than trying to find another match?
I believe the biggest culprit for creating 4v5 games are AFK spectators preventing anybody from getting directed to the game to fill the last spot.
They need to account for this or start reducing the number of active servers and making players wait for an open spot

Hot Join as it is, is a casual format designed to maximize use of a player’s time. That it has some exploitable features is unfortunate but since we shouldn’t put much weight in the value of winning hot join matches, I think people should think twice before suggesting something as drastic as removing (the very comprehensive and useful) spectator mode.
Not only can you observe a player from the first person, complete with targeting and skill usage, but you can look at equipment and trait choices. That’s an invaluable tool for learning new strategies or ideas about gear selection that maybe you wouldn’t have thought about on your own. So, because a very casual PvP format can be somewhat exploited… you want to completely erase this feature?
You are right hotjoin is very casual. In fact it is the only pvp a lot of players have any acquaintance with at all; it is more often than not an absolutely miserable experience. Spectator can be easily enough separated as several people have suggested by either moving it to queued games or removing a players ability to join one or both teams for a match.
Hotjoin should make players want to play more pvp, not less.
My Mesmer cries because we can’t use Sigil of Intelligence for our burst. The lowest amount of hits any of our “strong” attacks has is 4.

I rather like the idea of buffing null field. It would give mesmers a solid place in the meta (like thief shadow refuge/boon steal) and be a danger to greedy condi spam and celestial builds… Which is exactly what the game needs.
Sure as hell a lot better than teams running shout guardian + double 0/0/10/30/30 eles just to manage the kittenstorm
