this doesnt seem very good then, looks like i wasted £50
That about sums it up.
You’re playing it wrong. Don’t compare GW2 to MMOs like WoW for example. Think of it like an FPS/TPS game with multiplayer, and then compare it’s cost/worth ratio with those, since you payed about the same (or less, because we get “DLCs” for free). GW2 gives you an MMO playground, but frees you from the daily 4 hours grind you did in other MMOs. If you seek to play this game 4 hours a day, you’ll be disappointed. If you see it only for what it is, a nice multiplayer game, you won’t. If GW2 is not worth it’s price, nothing in the world is…
Yeah man there is lack of endgame content therefore he is “playing the game wrong”
Do you realise what people think of you when you say that? They feel sorry for you.
Next white knight please.
It’s not about the ‘lack of end game content’. All content is end game content and unless you have done every heart and gotten full 100% exploration then you have a lot of content. Treating GW2 like people treat WoW is part of the problem. So when people rush to level 80 expecting something like other games end game they are playing it wrong. Then game is meant to be thoroughly enjoyed from 1-80 not just 80.
I doubt it but if they do it would be tengu.
ANet knows how to do guild halls well. They are just working out the specifics. They know that people loved them from GW1 and so they will implement them sometime in the future.
I think one problem that people are having with end game is that they want to treat it like they do in WoW and want to play this game like WoW where you rush to end to get to the good stuff. I would tell people that they need to not think of this as a different flavor but WoW but it’s own game. However some games just aren’t for everyone.
\ Not to mention the fact that the trek to get a legendary embodies the very grindy feel that ANet claims they don’t want in their game.
Legendaries are suppose to be hard to get a take a long time. That’s why they are legendaries.
I could be wrong but I think a few months ago ANet mentioned how they might (might being a key word) allow players to manage their own FFA PvP servers or something similar.
They’ve already added a new tier of gear post-launch despite the fact that it contradicts everything they said beforehand. What makes you think they won’t add raids?
Of course, they won’t be the kind of raids we’ve seen in other games. Just look at the GW2 dungeons and their complete lack of depth and engaging mechanics. Increase the size to 10 players, and there you go: GW2 raids.
I bet they already have something very close to this in the works.
Dungeons are suppose to be the hard group content. DE are suppose to be the equivalent to the large group content. They also admitted that they wish they had released Ascended gear at launch and that they do not have any plans to add more.
If people like pain they will do the story modes.
Well the humans were the only playable race in Guild Wars 1 so much of the lore in the game surrounds them or is written from a human perspective. They also ruled 3 continents. In Guild Wars 2, Zhaitan just happens to be located in the ruins of Arah, formerly the capital of Orr and the city of the gods. They were the favored race of the gods. While most of the existing lore is centered on them, newer lore has gradually shifted the focus from humans to the other four major races.
The significance of humans in Guild Wars 2 is that Kryta is the last free human kingdom. Elona has been conquered by Palawa Joko and Cantha has become an isolationist empire. The Elder Dragons have cut off access to those continents as well. Orr was destroyed in the Cataclysm and, with the exception of the Stronghold of Ebonhawke, the kingdom of Ascalon has fallen to the charr.
Does that answer your question?
The Cataclysm happened right after the Searing which occurs long before the start of GW2 and at the beginning of Prophecies of GW1.
Is this a GW1 in-joke? I am vaguely remembering something like that.
If you /aren’t/ joking, though, restorative magics would fall under “preservation”.
I think that he is making the joke from Skyrim.
Can dragons really eat gods?! O_O I haven’t read anything like that yet.. But it sure would look cool if we were given a cinematic with the gods fighting against a dragon..
It’s just speculation.
I doubt there will be any new professions as finding the niche for another might be hard. More playable races is a lot more feasible.
It would be cool but hosting a convention costs tons of money and time. So for me its not so much of “QQ broken content QQ” but more of “You could use your time and resources more wisely.”
Charr are culturally much more similar to the Mongols and Romans with industry than anything else.
I see the Asura being a society run and planned by mathematicians than any real world culture.
While having a full party of heroes would be nice, I personally would prefer that we each get one. This way it would be helpful for people who play solo with out cutting out the social aspect.
We know that Shiro was a pawn of Abbadon.
So you’re suggesting a kind of “meta renown heart”, where after doing (for example) 10 renown hears for Seraph NPCs, you’d unlock a vendor at the Seraph HQ, for example?
Yes, that would add some depth to the renown heart system, which is currently kind of shallow and fragmented.
Basically, it would also tie into the regional armors and titles.
I think they might add them in the future when we go farther north. Right now we haven’t really made it into the Far Shiverpeaks yet.
Obtaining a certain level of reputation would allow one to get certain things like armor and weapons
Isn’t that exactly what renown hearts are…?
I definitely agree about #1, though, and have been saying that since beta.
Yea, but in addition to getting points towards a reputation. For example in most of the human areas you are helping the Seraph, well while filling out the hearts you also get X number of reputation points towards the Seraph.
Here are a few suggestions I would like to see implemented.
1. Titles- I think that if we could have more PvE titles for things like which Order you choose and certain racial achievements it would add more coolness factors and allow characters to be more part of the world.
2. Armor- Having armor sets based on regions and racial territories would be cool. I also think that starting armor should reflect the race you choose.
3. Reputation. I would like to see some sort of reputation mechanic similar to the one in GW1. This could tie into the heart system and dynamic events. Obtaining a certain level of reputation would allow one to get certain things like armor and weapons and maybe even titles.
“I can totally sneak past those mobs.”
Even though he is Dwayna’s son Grenth is probably the one god that is still in the pantheon I’d be scared the most to be with, then Balthazar because of the mural from Ascalon City post-Searing.
This is just what I suggested in a similar post in the suggestions forum.
I’ll renew my question to the developers: why in Tyria aren’t races allowed to wear stuff crafted by each other? I thought the Guild Wars were long over and races were already in alliance.
Just because they are working together that doesn’t mean that really have to like each other.
I don’t think that the racial requirement will ever be dropped. It gives the races something unique. Also why would those vendors give something that in their culture is a status symbols to outsiders?
In all seriousness, though, we have no indication that the dragons aren’t concerned with the other dragons. While we don’t know for sure, there have been hints that the dragons don’t like each other. When you look at it that way, the ED’s all seem to be holding back and preparing themselves. It’s like a 5-way Cold War as none of them want to make the first move and draw the others down on them. They are all plotting and planning how best to take over without being destroyed.
Now that Zhaitan is down, however, it may be that the next story expansion has the other four being more aggressive (although Primordius and Bubbles may not know, as their minions wouldn’t know of Zhaitan’s death)
Bubbles may or may not know depending on where it is. We dont really know that much about it.
I can’t wait till we face Primordus, out of all of them he fascinates me the most.
Yea, that is one thing that has been a minor annoyance.
I think trying to conceptualize how the EDs reason is not very productive. Their mental capacities are far beyond most mortals. It’s like trying to reason with a tornado or volcanic eruption.
I doubt it since they are based on GW1 armour sets and are not holiday items.
Zaishen mission anyone?
This would be cool. Along with Bounties.
Just because a game has a sub that doesn’t mean that it is quality content. ANet has a bigger burden because they have to create content that players will want to play rather than locking them into a sub that they might not want.
Adding a sub would be the death of this game and all credibility ANet has with any customers.
GW1 did fine without a sub. GW2 starting out with an ingame store already has a leg up on that. It’s also proven that they can make plenty of money of expansions. If they added a sub model it would drive so many people away it would make the qq about ascended gear look like nothing.
Generally if there is a potentially world ending threat most political squabbles are a bit less important.
I hope Razah comes back. His situation is quite interesting because of how unique it is.
Same idea with Assassin being an npc only profession in a Cantha expansion, like a super thief, not available to players.
Assassins got refit into the thief. We might see Assassin organizations in Canthan related content though just as we might see dervish ones in Elonian content.
Just found the resting place of Nicholas Sandford and Professor Yakkington and I knelt and shed a manly tear.
Lore wise I could see dervishes appearing as a human faction but not being playable. The other races don’t really have something that fits the theme of them.
GW1 was successful with the B2P model and GW2 has done well so far so why would they change what has worked for them?
One thing that some people seem to forget is that dungeons are meant to be the hard content and require a lot of group coordination. While PuGs can work for story modes sometimes it still better to go with people you know or who can demonstrate the ability to navigate the dungeon and coordinate the party.
I also wish there were more varied weapon skins. I think it would be cool as part of either crafting or events like Lost Shores to get really cool looking weapons from 1 like the Charr sword from the BMP or the Elemental Sword.
I wonder if Dhuum will play apart in the fight against the EDs. I mean we know that he was a god but what do not know is his relation to the others. It seems only Grenth had issue with him because as far as we know none of the others helped him which could be why Dhuum is still alive. I want to learn more about the journey that the humans took with the gods to Tyria and what caused their journey in the first place.
In GW1, servers didn’t mean diddlysquat for lore.
In GW2, servers merely represent different worlds in WvW and otherwise means diddlysquat for lore.
Dat’s just about it. Servers is a mechanics thing.
Yea I don’t really understand where this notion of each server representing an alternate world came from.
It would be cool if they released an encyclopedia type book that was still in the continuity of the world. Have be named something like Encyclopedia Tyriannica.
By the way, my money is on the original Ascalonian settlers being exiles from Kryta. That being the seed which began the tension between those two nations.
Actually we know that prior to there being 3 nations in Tyria there was just 1 nation that spread from Orr to Ascalon, and a human colony from Elona that was in the area now known as Kryta. So Ascalonians are much more closely linked to the Orrians than the Krytans.
More precise, Ascalon and Kryta were both Orrian colonies before they gained independance => GWproph manuscripts.
Actually It wasn’t mentioned that they were colonies of Orr. But now it is know that Kryta was a colony of Elona. Orr I think was a colony of Ascalon but that could be wrong do to new info.
But it hit me, what would happen if the Mists were destroyed. I mean no matter the outcome of a prolonged battle between the dragons and the gods the Mists would undoubtedly be damaged to the brink of total devastation, and I can only imagine what would happen to the world and the realms within should the mists be destroyed. Perhaps this, right here, is the reasoning behind the gods disappearing. Because of the fact that an all out war between the gods and dragons on Tyria would bring utter devastation, and in the mists, the outcome might be far worse.
You can’t destroy the Mists. You can destroy places in the Mists but not the Mists itself.
Maybe we will find out if that thing makes it into game. I like how ArenaNet always plants little hidden nuggets like this.
I like the White Mantle the most. Even though they are villains in GW1 and 2 I think people hate them to much. I mean even though the Mursaat did sacrifice people they were preventing the Titans from escaping and destroying everything. Plus the concept art for Saul is just awesome.
I played mostly RTSs until I tried to buy Rise of Legends. My computer couldn’t run it and so I traded it back and bought Guild Wars 1 and loved it. I play RPGs and WoW often but I always waited for GW2 When it came out I was so excited.
I don’t love GW2 but I find it quite awesome. There are some issues but I feel that over time those will be taken care of.
That’s pretty cool man. I like how people do things like this even though they are not optimal.
Maybe the devs are just waiting to implement that information in the correct way and at the proper time.
Could you be any more melodramatic?
They are not adding a gear treadmill. Legendary is already a level of item quality in game. All they are doing is making Legendary the best of the best of the best (sir! If anyone gets this movie reference you get +10) and putting a level of gear between Exotic and Legendary.
You need to chill Tron.
