Is it intended that stealth doesn't stop immediately when you hit a player?

Of course its not supposed to be this way. Anet’s player culling bugs stealth so that it doesn’t drop as quickly as it should, so thieves get an extra 1-5 seconds of stealth before they render depending on how much traffic there is in the area.
At least you are a thief so you also have the benefit of the bug, while every other class gets destroyed by perma invis thieves.
I don’t know if they should be switched but the winning team definitely should not have a stat boost. Both buffs should be reworked.
Thieves. Rendering issue aside, their mixture of burst damage, stealth and absurd movement speed is already overpowered (25% passive +heartseeker? lolol). Thieves still need some significant nerfs to bring them in line with other classes. And of course, until the rendering issue is fixed they will be ultra overpowered regardless.
Mesmers are very strong 1v1, but they can’t just appear behind you and kill you in 1 second. It is possible to run away from a mesmer. Not so with a theif. They could probably stand some tweaks to a few skills like portal, but they aren’t completely broken.
If there’s any longbow that needs to be buffed, its the ranger’s.
Anet will probably just nerf ranger again instead of addressing issues that actually matter like this and rogue’s unlimited stealth in WvW caused by loading bug.
Notice how he neglected to mention anything about the fact that damage of shortbow while using QZ dropped by 25%+
Spamming 1 might not be the most fun gameplay, but its a lot more fun to actually be able to do good damage with one skill than using broken weapons (sword) or weaps with bad DPS (everything other than SB and sword). SB was the ranger’s only good weapon which is mediocre to bad now that the good burst damage from QZ is gone.
I’m not saying its your fault, but stealth is broken right now due to the loading issues.
Good job beating another rogue. You both had the advantage of the same bug so you were on even footing.
While I agree stealth is OP in its current implementation, the worst part about stealth is player culling. I often get thieves attacking me while invis for several seconds before they actually appear on screen and by the time they appear they just stealth again. Player culling is destroying this game.
Rangers are best at picking off enemies that stray too far from the main enemy zerg and providing ranged dps in small raiding parties.
Shortbow and axe/warhorn is probably the best combo. Sadly, melee as a ranger is not very viable in WvW as the weapons are lackluster and other classes like warriors, thieves, mesmers and guardians can stomp us in melee.
Warriors are already the tankiest class in game with ranged damage comparable to rangers and you want rifle to have longer range? Just pray that warriors don’t get hit with nerfs, because they deserve them more than most of the other classes getting nerfed.
I timed shooting the short-bow a bunch before the patch and compared with some tests after the patch. Before each shot came out in approximately 0.45 seconds. Now its around 0.52. It definitely feels slower and the dps drop is significant. When you use QZ your fire rate barely increases now. Its basically lets you fire at a rate slightly faster than what was the normal attack speed before. Auto attack used to do about 8-9 arrows in 4 seconds. Now with QZ on we are getting about 12.
This wasn’t your run of the mill nerf. Crossfire accounts for 80%+ of the damage output of most rangers. Its not like nerfing one random cool-down skill. And it is extremely disingenuous of Anet to do this all in the name of “some glitches in the animation” that no one was even aware of.
I play WvW not Spvp, so I can’t speak to that aspect of pvp.
The problem is that the purpose of the nerf was supposedly to fix graphics issues but no one was even aware of this problems. That and many people have reported the nerf is bigger than 0.04 seconds.
ANet already said they are looking into nerfing SB too much, so it may very well be changed again in the near future.
I totally agree with your assessment. I haven’t played my necro that much, but the skills just seemed lackluster to me. The damage and survivabilty were decent but it just wasn’t fun for some reason.
Mesmers are probably the strongest pvp class in the game. They can’t be #1 at everything.
I leveled to 80 using condition damage and switched to power/prec after reaching 80 and power/prec is better overall. By the time you have put your conditions up on someone, I’ll have already killed them with direct damage. And that’s assuming you have flank and they don’t have condition removal. The one time condition damage can be better is when fighting strong mobs in PvE solo or in a small group, where you don’t hit any condition damage caps.
Just because ele is not up to par doesn’t meant ranger needed a nerf.
Roll a GS war. You will feel like you enabled god mode.
Even if they didn’t lie and it is 40ms, 40ms is still around a 9% damage nerf. But it seems like they slowed it down more than 40ms.
You are an idiot if you think a 10% damage nerf to the only viable damage skill the ranger has is nothing. Ranger is so kitten now it is not even funny.
A 10-15% damage nerf isn’t bad? Rangers are so kitten now it isn’t even funny. Shortbow was the only viable source of damage for the class.
You do about 10-15% less damage now, so it takes that much longer to kill things and you take that much more damage. It sucks. Rangers are the worst ranged and melee class now. Hurray.
Shortbow was only thing that made rangers viable and they just nerfed it into the ground to fix “graphics issues” that no one can even identify. What in the world is Anet thinking? Probably quitting the game now. I don’t have the motivation to sink another 200 hours into a different class when they might make more idiotic changes like this.
This isn’t a problem just with glass cannon players. I have an 80 ranger with full knight’s emblazoned exotic gear (toughness is main stat) points in toughness, vit on some of my armor upgrades and certain thieves can kill me in 1 second. Thieves burst damage is broken. It doesn’t help that WvW orb bonuses are overpowered.
