A. Bridge for Legendaries were added by Anet themselves. This is not the solution.
B. Read the blog carefully, legendaries will rise to ascended level. Since we only have weapons as legendaries, guess what type of ascended gear we will get next. From there, armor is not a stretch as you seem to think.
Gear Progression is the opposite of what was promised to use in GW1 and GW2.
This is a Anet clearing going back on its word. GW1 had many strong supporters without gear progression. I do not see why GW2 and Anet need to cater to those WoW grind grinders now.
Also many people grinded dungeons based on the premise that exotic is the best gear out there. People were just doing dungeons for fun and skins. Now it is no.
So very soon, when ascended full gear comes out. People that just leveled will just craft a exotic set and then grind ascended via the 1 dungeon. How does that help the game and make it fun???
Also ascended gear and infusions will force players to LF ascended gear or kick. This is becoming very similar to Rift and other MMOs that GW2 says it will not be.

@ Tega
What is wrong with being equal in stats. Unless you are a great noob that is.
GW2 promised gear equality. Now they go, hey we broke our promise, great things to come and only 3 months after it was released.
It’s +2 stat points that’s making players have an aneurism because of kneejerk reactions.
It is +2 for 4~6 stats per item.
When you have full ascended gear, it will be +2 * 6 * 12 for a total of 144 points. Now that is a lot. That is not including the Infusion slots and Agony system, which acts as a content gate.
FYI, now is ring and backpack, but as they wrote, the FULL set of ascended gear will be out soon.
No, I hate the new ascended items.
GW2, I believe, Core audience are more mature, with less time.
Older people, do not forgive so easily. Longer life = Longer memory.
This Ascended gear is a slippy slope. After 3 months, now, you have new gear that is more powerful, thus becoming the “must get” items. People will just rush to the new dungeon to get these gear, making the current dungeons useless.
For now rings and backpack is not so bad right, but this is the start. When ascended weapons and gear come out, as Anet says it will, then all their current content will be invalid at once.
Unless you are one of those rare players that will grind for 2nd best gear, when you could be grinding for the best.
Also Infusions act as a gate, forcing people to progress linearly from dungeon to dungeon. For hard core players it is ok, but GW2 is supposed to be for casual players. It has a large base of such players. After awhile they will not be able to compete with all those grind to pass the gate.
Thus many will stop playing. I stopped playing WoW because at top level, I found that I cannot do more then 1/4 of the end game content because I do not have the “special” gear.
Now GW2 is going that way. It is sad. Also it is a turn about on their policy of no gear progression at end game.

i dont understand this kittening at all. u mad.
it was OK for everyone that the game have fine->masterwork->rare->exotic gear progression, and now when a.net decides to put one more in between exotic and legendary for whatever reason ppl start kittening and saying that ‘they will leave the game’ and ‘ask for refund’, oh c’mon, you cant be serious.
1 more tier set != gear treadmill. qqmore.
Fine, Mastwork, Rare, Exotic was for lvl 1 to 79. At lvl 80, you can jump to rare in an instant. With 2 gold, you get Exotic full gear.
That is not gear progression.
From Exotic to Ascended, that can only be grind randomly from a single dungeon, that will be progression.
This is STUPID. I bought the game on the promise on no end game gear stats progression. That GW2 will be different that other MMOs and that a game I can play without the need to grind gear.
Now 3 months after release, there are new gear. Aka gear progression/power creep. I have spent hours playing dungeons for exotic items to look good based on this promise. Now all my work is worthless. All my tokens are worthless, my efforts were for nothing. This is the reason why I do not grind in WoW or other games, because you gear stats will be worthless in a few months time. And now this is coming to GW2, in only 3 months. This is a total turn about such short a time.
ANet has simply lied to us. I for one do not have the energy to grind new gear again because I have too or else I cannot play content. I hate grinding for stats. If I grind for looks, it is another thing. I still cannot believe how Anet has gone back on it’s promise, just because of some whiny people that should not be playing this game in the first place.
Seriously … What is going to happen to all the dungeons now the ascended is out? Already PvE is a barren waste land. Very soon, Dungeons will be empty too, as everyone either leaves or does the new dungeons for the new gear. They are killing their own game. Seriously this is a bad decision on so many levels.

1. Animation Fix to Short Sword, now correctly roots you on the spot properly.
2. Animation Fix on F2 ability animation and skill execution now both execute properly, and is calculated when animation ends.
3. It was found that traps were too powerful. Cooldown time increased by 10 seconds.
4. People have been abusing Rampage as One as a running skill. It is not supposed to be used as such. RaO now does not give swiftness.
5. SB does not properly reflect that it is a condition weapon. Crossfire no longer give dmg. Bleed time also decreased to 2 second.
6. Increase pet survivability. Pets now run when your life or their life is less then 25%. Known issues, pets run into AoE circles, to be fixed soon.
7. Too many Rangers have been using full Sigil builds. Sigil passive powers, decreased by 50%.
etc, etc…
Joke
But if any of the above actually came out on 15th Nov, it will be epic (in a bad way).
But seriously. Now have 3 toons. Ranger, Engineer and Guardian. Ranger is the hardest to play, has the less dps and is the easiest to die. We really need some great fixes and changes.
(edited by gadenp.7586)
I agree to the many posts that say the difficulty are all over the place.
Would like to add that, Dungeons get exponentially harder when played with non-80s.
Your group dps takes a huge hit, and non-80s have lower health. Added to the fact, that most of the time, they will be new. Cause many many wipes.
The scaling mechanism needs to be less harsh. Especially if Anet says that dungeons do not need lvl 80s to run.
The truth is, they kind of need to be lvl 80 geared. And this causes much bad blood all round between lvl 80s and non-80s.
After all, taking AC as an example, if you have runed it 30 times over, and do it very fast now because your fellow players are geared and experienced, will you not get annoyed when you get into a group of 3 or 4 non-80s and get wipped alot, taking triple the time. More often then no, you will avoid any non-80s. Maybe even point out, that their level and gear are not good enough. This is especially true, if you are working and only have about 2 hours each night to play.
Non-80s will also be extremely unhappy that the 80s “snub” them or keep picking on any small mistake they do or telling them to get better gear.
All these can be avoided if scaling will be less harsh on non-80s. After all, they are leveling and you cannot expect them to get orange gear, which they will largely out level in 5 dungeon runs (5 level ups).

+1. In fact, I would like a Last Online and Last Represented option.
People need to quit thinking of a Ranger as a Bow User, because unless you’re running Longbow with Crit/Power Build and hugging Zergs, Bow absolutely blows pretty terribly.
Yes Rangers are not bow users only. They can use melee and bow. The game allows for multiple play styles.
So yes, we can melee. For me, I prefer a bow. I do not demand that rangers must use a bow. Or that ranger = bow. I just would like both range and melee combat to be both viable.
(edited by gadenp.7586)
@ Levetty, Totally Agree.
For those the say Ranger does not mean archer. I want to say, it does not only mean dual wielding too.
All weapons should be viable. If I want to play melee, yea I should be able too. Sames goes for range.
Anyways melee weapons are not that much better then SB and LB. Most ranger weapons need a few critical twitches.
16 points :P only? Hahaha hope they are good 16 points.
LB Rapid Fire + QZ cannot be considered a burst, to anyone but glass cannons. Max, if you are lucky and do not get any obstructed/missed/invulernable/outofrange, is about 1/4 of a guy’s HP. In which case, a smart player knows to either heal or run.
Issue with Rangers not having bursts is huge. Because by doing more or else constant damage, other players are smart enough to know when to dis-engage and run.
Our speed bursts either are buffs that should be used in combat (RaO) or a sigil that gives you 10% (but takes away a skill slot which really should be used for condition purging or another skill is brown bear is used).
So even if you chase, most classes will outrun you. Even if they cannot run faster then you, just by striving, they mitigate a huge percentage of your dps. Because pets cannot hit running targets and striving targets give obstructed/missed/invulernable/outofrange alot. So if they cannot out run you, they can lead you to their zergs.
My biggest annoyance in WvW or PvP.
+1 Really really sum up the situation. But err are you not afraid you will get infracted?
Got a few infractions when I posted “how long more” threads here
Obstructed is only 1 of the 4 types of bugs concerning bows we get.
The other 3 are:
2. Miss
3. Invulnerable
4. Out of Range
Miss – How the heck can once miss at point blank range in PVP. I think the hit boxes are too small and striving is too OP currently if a good opposing player can dodge most of our shots by striding while hitting you with a melee weapon, why you strive shooting with your bow.
Invulnerable – Stand on a rock, and see how enemies become Invulnerable, even if you have a clear shoot to them. Invulnerable can also appear for no reason, when you are on level ground and shooting the enemy in the face.
Out of Range – So many times I have gotten this issue when I am shooting standing right smack in the face of an enemy.
Lastly, Obstructed – The best example of this is AC path 3 or any time you need to destroy a burrow. 100% all your shots are obstructed, which makes rangers the last selected class for AC. You can use GS for super low DPS or a sword that roots you and gets you killed fast.
Ranger weapons have issues. For ranger bows, these 4 bugs combine to annoy one alot.
PS: These bugs happen alot more in Orr, zergs, PvP and WvW. For those that want to say, no I never seen it before while I am in PvE world. Or if your opponent cannot grasps how to strife.
(edited by gadenp.7586)
I would think, we need bug fixes more :P
But yea, new pets will be nice. But not at the expense of fixing ranger issues.
The difference is some classes do 10k and then hit for 1k, and ranger does 2k all the time…see? DPS is the same, burst is not.
I believe when Anet balances the damage it’s based on the DPS, burst doesn’t matter much if over 15 seconds the same is the same.
You need to take into account all our missed, obstructed or invulnerably arrows for no reason. This are bugs I know, but it affects our dps in a huge way.
Also Pets are about 40% (might be higher) or our dps. So when enemies move alot, our pets cannot hit and thus dps decreases. Also if pets get stuck in AoE or get killed, we lose alot of our dps.
In PvE, the above are not a big deal much. In dungeons they are quite annoying. But in WvW and PvP, these 2 arch-issues above kill alot of our dps.
I really hope they fix these issues.
Ranger is bugged yea but it is till playable. So yea both sides are correct. Can we all agree to disagree.
I find ranger extremely bugged and lacking is build flexibility. But we are still playable. I run a trap based ranger. I encounter many groups that always seem to see ranger and go OMG we GG already.
The ranger class is not easy to play and we have a list of bugs we need to overcome. The top being:
1. Pets missing moving targets
2. Pets suck in AoE
3. Arrows miss, invulnerable, obstructed for no erason
4. Weapons need just a bit more work
But played well, a ranger can stay alive and do constant condition dps for the longest time in dungeons and WvW. You just need to dodge alot and be ready to reposition constantly.
That being said, we are crap in PvP, seriously bad. Also I find in Dungeons, my other classes really have it easier. I have an engineer and guardian alt. Still I find Ranger the most fun to play. So for me, I will say Rangers ar sub par but easily improved, but they are not that horrid.
Yes yes, dungeons are easy. Actually they are not. As many mentioned, any content gets super easy if you have a good group, fully geared, know what you are doing and have done it infinity times before.
Until, they make dungeons that can dynamicly adjust to your strengths, most content will get easier after awhile, unless they are so hard only the leet few can do them.
I got this Hatchery bug. I think it is kitten. This bug clearly stops the main story and gameplay yet it is taking quite long to fix. I would have thought that as this is a game stopper type bug, it will be the first priority.
I guess we will just have to wait longer.
I really hope to get buffed soon.

Welcome to ranger mechanics at lvl 80. Your pets do not hold aggro anymore.
But actually seriously at lvl 80 you do not want them too. Seriously, if they hold aggro, they die very very fast. So it is better that you hold it.
@ Sarvas
People use SB for Power builds because even after the SB nerf, over time it does more damage, constantly, in all situations then a LB.
I agree that LB that better skills to use, but the positional requirement decreases the damage alot. Especially in situations / game play that makes it hard to stay at long range constantly, aka WvW, Dungeons and PvP.
Ranger is not bad, it is just sub par to other classes. A big reason is our Pets. They die very fast, their F2 sucks, they do not dodge aggro or mobs. Pet are quite bad at hitting moving target, in fact they miss alot. And lastly they aggro mobs like crazy (if not used properly).
Our weapons overall, do less damage compared to other classes. Our pets are to take up to slack, but they do not, and tend to die often to AOE. Also due to bugs, our arrow miss alot, get obstructed alot or get invulnerable alot. Also our shots are not heat seeking, and flight time slower then guns. This leads to the funny bug, in which a person striving left and right can dodge alot of our attacks even at close range. Good players know this, so in 1v1s, you see alot of movement and kiting against rangers.
Also our utility skills are quite bad, and overall our skills tend not to support class diversity. They are like 3 good ranger builds, that sooner or later most will use.
They are mainly the power build. Trap build. Condition build.
So while Rangers are still fun to play and viable for PvE or any where. They just do not do as well, other then in open world PvE where they do. So they are good to level, but endgame, you start to see that flaws.
(edited by gadenp.7586)
@ Sdric
It is not worth it. I used to point out the Ranger flaws and lack of responds or bug fixes.
For my effort I got a 72hrs B A N. And my posts on ranger flaws get removed. Seriously it is not worth it.
I just hope the Nov 15th patch will fix us.
Obstructing is mainly, I think, caused by environment bug(s). And the extremely strict obstruct mechanics.
1. Grant pets damage reduction from AOE attacks in PvE.
AOE attacks should do normal damage in PvP.
2. Increase response and casting speed (instant) of F2 abilities
3. Increase hit range of pet attacks and remove/speed up fluff animation that cause pets to miss. And/or register hit from pets at animation starts, not animation end.
4. Improve response to Call Back, F3. They should run back, not talk a stroll in the fire rain.
5. Pet should stand besides you, not a few meters in front of you.
@ Aotd
Please link url of the discussion. I want to go ask, what about ranger?
Also your sub forum will be be flooded with such posts. Just that with that forum, there will be more posts overall, as people fight/discuss over 2 locations.
Also as such a sub forum will be central to all classes, a wider audience will know about the issues of the various classes (even those classes they do not play). Which will cause the dev alot alot of headaches.
I think what you suggest is the direct opposite of what they want.
Because a sub forum on balance will very quickly become a sub forum on “fix my class” it is sub par. And is GW2, currently for a few classes, people got alot of real proof to back them up. Just look at ranger forum to see how a forum on balance will become if your class if ignored for near 2 months.
Also the sub forum will become a location when many will constantly demand nerfs for OP classes or skills. In which a few class(es) are/have, like warrior.
@ Doombunny
I think Anet has mentioned many times that the bug fixing department and the new design department are 2 different teams and work separately. Thus why can’t they do both?
Also I might not work in game testing, but I work in programming. Especially with version-ing and module based programming, I cannot see why they cannot revert ranger SB changes (thus giving us back a viable build, till the big patch).
I wonder, how hard it is to at least revert back to before the SB nerf, or up the SB dmg by abit to help rangers for the next 2 long long long weeks before the next “major” patch. Especially since they can do it so well and fast for halloween patches.
Which I am betting will have triple the changes and buffs for warriors. And double the changes to other professions. And then a few small changes to Rangers, which totally ignore most if not all our major issues.
1 word = Gems
As others have said, more inventory spaces taken up, means more need to expand bank slots, means need Gems, means need to get them via cash.
I couldn’t do it. But it was an awesome piece of design.
I would have loved to have a non-timed, no-loot, no achievement version to play around in for the people who can’t do the timed one.
Totally would also love to have that option, for the more noob jumpers. So that we can at least try and experience what those pro do professional so darn well.
I rather Josh goes on to do other new stuff The status is fine as is.
Gave up. Jump puzzles are not my cup of tea. Wanted to try it because of the exotic. But na the exotic is not worth the pain involved And guess what, I am not pissed at Anet or QQing or going “woe is me” (had to add last point in because that was what a friend of my say while QQing about the puzzle to me like crazy till I told him to get a FREAKing life).
Please no mounts.
I do not mind having temporary mounts given out temporarily during events, that maybe last 1 minute. After all, a mount is a speed buff.
But again maybe not, as if that happens the mount lovers will come out in force, wanting something permanent.
To all those that say OP is QQing or raging, etc.
It is not my purpose to complain about people. I just want to discuss this matter. And wanted to present this topic in an exaggerated manner as to make light of it. To make the topic something fun, where we can present interesting point and stories that we can all laugh at.
These are just points that I observe. I do not go about punishing or complaining or nagging people if they commit these. These are not sins. But yes I admit, I do get annoyed if people keep on doing it and not learn.
Points 1, 2 & 10 especially make me want to go L2P pls, but again I do not go about complaining about them, unless they are friends or friendly guildies.
I especially like point 10, because I am a ranger, that first time I did a dungeon run, my pet aggroed half the room, which caused much rage, me saying sorry like crazy, and a PUG member quitting in rage. And the rest of the guildies made it into a running joke, after which I never did it again.
So to the people that take this topic extremely seriously. Please take it in humor in the spirit in which this topic is intended.
(edited by gadenp.7586)
In PvE leveling, the ranger goes well with any class, as you can get a tank pet to tank or a dps pet to dps.
Allowing the other person to do what their class does best.
you could put quivers in the offhand slot on the bow, and it would appear overtop of the back slot when you equipped the bow.
If they were either statless/had an option to not have them appear then i support this 100% I think it’d also be cool if by having a quiver equipped you could change the last 3 (ok maybe just 2) abilities on your bow skills, now THAT would be even cooler!!
That would be an extremely cool way of adding more skills to the ranger class. +1, suddenly I feel the need to have a quiver prompto.
If not so bugged, I will not mind. But seriously as you guys now reset is about a week. Every time it bugs out, we wait one week praying we can get to the dungeon after the reset before it bugs out again.
@Agree with Kinglette
As a Asian player, my whole MMO life, I have been told by MMO companies that they will not change their schedule no matter what is happening in my part of the world.
So although my heart go out to all those affected by Sandy. I have been trained to go na… not that important if I cannot make it to an event.
Anet should help in other ways, like adding 1 more achievement to allow people affect to get 5/5 achievements achievement and emailing the in-games items out.
(edited by gadenp.7586)
The person that he is following need to stay behind before the fire lake. The rest go across.
Those that die, teleport to last waypoint. Once one guy is across, person that Magg was following, should teleport to last waypoint.
This will cause Magg to teleport to person at goal. And completing the task. Running his across the lake is sure death, as he will be hero and kit EVERYTHING and die die die die.
At least that is the way, my guild groups do it.
@ lynspottery
I also find that the leader can never leave the dungeon or group. When I do dungeons in guild, we always negotiate who the leader will be. Aka person that cannot do anything funny at all.
If leader bag is full, tough. Must be able to stay for full run (cannot run off). And must have a good internet connection.
If Bots can run dungeons, then GW2 is really in trouble. Also they most probably run their bot party. Aka 5 bots together doing the dungeon.
Actually if bots can run dungeons, I want their source code. As I believe that will be mighty fine coding.
But you never know, with the skill levels of some of these programmers and the tools at their disposal.
Maybe it is a Chinese account power leveler that wanted to do something different then the normal power leveling grind, whatever that might be.

Join a guild that do dungeons a lot.
Ask them what each dungeon is able and what you need for each dungeon.
Do said dungeon with them, and listen to their advice.
See red circle, dodge.
See downed group mate, res.
Bring a condition removal.
Group utilities & debuffs are helpful.
