Now they’re in Tier 2 utterly decimating the tier, though it’s too early to call technically, those scores don’t lie. I don’t know how much of that is bandwagon since they CLAIM they only gained a few hundred people, but I can say we really appreciate a more even fight now. If this is where Kaineng belongs, glad to have you.

With that said, back to being mean.

Yeah, DB is off to a great start. Good for them. And it seems, so far this could be a competitive tier. We’ll see what happens as our numbers reduce slowly.

We have have finally moved from T2 to T3. We were propelled to T2 at times due to forces beyond our control, a perfect storm of events. We find ourselves now, in T3 a tier we formerly passed through in a week. But we were disorganized even then, just numbers. We intended no insult to those we passed through, yet it was an insult. So, after our fast journey to T2 and after 3 months of T2, we find ourselves trying to catch up to what we have always been lacking.

I would like to suggest, that this is not the End, but to paraphrase Winston Churchill, it is the End of the Beginning .

Is it bad? No I don’t think it is. I’m pretty sure most of KN couldn’t care less if they don’t go back to T2. A lot have been losing interest for some time, even when we were leading the tier for 4-5 weeks. People got bored. The best weeks were when were were fighting BG and not winning. Hopefully T3 will rekindle interest so the game becomes fun again.

The best fights are the fights that are a challange, no fun in just rolling over stuff.

Thanks. To be fair though quite a few servers felt that heartache when so many good WvW guilds left their server to come to us. We certainly heard from them! We always said, we didn’t recruit it. It was just a perfect storm of events that happened to a small dedicated WvW T8 community. Yet at the same time, we must live and die by the circumstances.

KN has its dignity and should maintain it, no matter what.

Nothing is confirmed. It will be confirmed if/when someone from WM makes a statement. Otherwise it’s nothing but hearsay. As of now WM is a guild on KN and that’s the extent of it.

It’s annoying that they have failed to make any public statement, either on the various KN community websites, or here in the forums. I respect them as one of the greatest WvW guilds out there but this seems a slap in the face to the KN who supported them all this time.

Yes, he made an appearance in our T2 thread making a pitch to KN guilds to transfer to DB and talking about the “newly” restructured DB! Don’t worry though, he got what for by all 3 servers. He’s a piece of work. He will be in for it if he sticks his head into that match-up thread with TC and FA. I will have to tune in from T3 to watch!

I think I and our Guild may have encountered this thief a few weeks ago. I believe he may have been on TC at the time, but I could be wrong. We chased this guy all over. He’d disappear and reappear way too far away (seemingly) to be normal. We had thieves in our group and even they were like, WTH!?

Every time we thought we had chased him off, he would just reappear and attempt to gank someone and yet he did not down anyone. It was weird, and annoying, so now I am wondering about it again reading these posts. If he’s on KN now and we see him we will report him. I literally know nothing of hacking, but that particularly thief definitely seemed to be doing something not meant to be.

KN won’t be the same without WM and CO, they made an impact and I always enjoyed going up against them when I could. Good luck to WM, CO, and KN as they move in different directions.

My first game was on a Magnavox Odyssey. I’m surprised I didn’t see that machine mentioned. Living in the country, we didn’t get internet for years and I played a lot of single player strategy games growing up. Not even sure I can think of titles at this point. Several Revolution, Civil War, and WW2 games IIRC.

Hey! Civil War was fun. Old turn based strategy, along With Civ II, etc. Also Shogun Total War was quite engrossing.

Sorry to hear that KN may be losing some folks. I’ve said this around here before but those 3 weeks of matches vs KN and TC were some of my funnest WvW times to date. KN has quality people that know how to bring it even when outgunned and those that decide to move on will no doubt have a positive impact wherever they decide to go. Selfishly I want you all on Blackgate but I know you guys will make the best decision for your players, whether you decide to move on or stick it out. Best of luck.

As said, the only confirmed Guild leaving is CO. We are not quite sure what is going on with WM yet since they do not communicate with the rest of the server. We have conflicting info it seems. They have always been somewhat of a mystery to me, to be honest. We have some saying they are sort of disbanding with Jang headed to an EU server. However, some on KN do not believe this and say they are simply all transferring. Unfortunately WM has not done KN the courtesy of making a statement to the community…at least not yet.

At any rate, if Guilds are leaving KN, what can I say…KN is not a prison. We came to where we are via transfers. But if Guilds are going to leave, I personally hope they go to BG. I enjoyed that 3 week match and have a lot of respect for BG. We miss those fun days, but times change.

And yes, this is TC attacking the keep that KN had on FABL. KN sent 10 people to attack TC’s Hills in FABL while TC was attacking FA’s Garrison, so… well… TC kinda retaliated against KN and took their stuff on FABL.

Well here we go again. I’ve only seen it confirmed that some of EMP are transferring to DB, but not all…maybe 30% according to some. There is some talk of MERC transferring to DB as well. I don’t know where you came up with 10 big guilds though.

Rangers are great to play in WvW, if you know how to play it. I have an 80 Guardian and a 80 Ranger, both full exotics, etc. I enjoy playing my Ranger in WvW actually more than my Guardian. My Guardian gets more kills, but my Ranger is more fun I find.

My Ranger was mostly leveled (after 30) in WvW and is rarely anywhere else in the game. I play LB/SB, but I do not have anything invested in BM. For pets I use Lynx (great knock down with pounce and high dps) and bear. As someone else said, I get a lot more kills, than get killed on my Ranger. I think some people run them down because they have not invested the amount of time it takes to learn to play a Ranger successfully in WvW.

But Rangers are all round very useful in WvW and fun to play once you learn how, and small groups are always happy to have a Ranger along when taking camps, etc. As for your build, it’s not one I have tried, but seems interesting.

I do not speak for my server but I do not want to come to T2. We are not ready, when DB comes to T2 we need to be ready and we are not yet. When we do come into T2, I want us to stick there not in and out.

I tend to agree with you. You’ll likely be here a week, if you come next week especially if you have even less NA than we do, as some suggest. Then again, you may surprise yourself. You’re either becoming too strong for T2, or Mags and Yaks just aren’t playing.

We only played you for a week, so I can’t really comment on DB’s consistent abilities. We really don’t know you guys well at all. DB seemed like nice people though. Good luck!

if you’re not in a big guild, or at least not in a WvW-heavy guild, you have basically no support, no communication, no engagement whatsoever. If you don’t happen to trip and fall into a WvW portal, there’s no way to even know what the point is, or why you might be needed as a new WvWer.

And if you ARE in WvW but not wanting to follow the zerg (for whatever reason), there’s absolutely no attempt to, say, explain the mechanics of scouting. Or sitting on siege equipment in a tower. Or heck, doing anything at all other than sitting around in the citadel wondering what to do next.

Well, at TC we have several people (like Jadon with his weekly lessons on Thursdays helped by Theon & Coral with his TC University) that explain WvW to new players, with a patience that everyone admires.

And every day, people explain in TC map chat basic WvW concepts as ‘what are the blue icons’, ‘what is supply’, ‘why kill Yaks’ and give the mumble coordinates.

That’s the advantage of a RP server, I think. The communities on RP servers tend to be nicer than on other servers. At least that’s what it feels like, in every MMO I ever played.

Anyways, score update…

Hmmm…well, right there I think you’ve highlighted the difference between TC and KN. I have only seen someone ask what to do with supply in map chat once, and that was the week before we left T8. Maybe it happens more, but I doubt it. The point being; Kaineng’s WvW core have always been predominantly WvW oriented…although I may not be articulating it properly. But, we seriously do not have a lot of PVE people joining us. I’m not sure why, maybe they have the impression we’re all “hard core” and wouldn’t welcome them, who knows. Or maybe they just really aren’t interested. WvW doesn’t have enough incentive for them perhaps.

By the way, I have to say this is the most interesting conversation I have seen in this thread in weeks. No offense intended to anyone, but usually it’s the TC/FA fight club…lol.

Our Guild is certainly not a big heavy WvW Guild. We have some players who prefer WvW over PVE, but not many, and we are a small Guild. When we show up in WvW as a Guild team, usually on Saturday nights (PST), we do well as a small team. We do great actually. Other than that it’s just us few who prefer WvW playing consistently and doing whatever we can, and we have fun. I mostly levelled my Ranger in WvW. I’ve followed Jarvan in RISE many a time, it’s very fast moving and a blast. Unfortunately we don’t spend a lot of time keeping what we take. It seems to be a Kaineng thing…

Point is, you don’t need to be in a big Guild or have a specific community forum to go to, yes it can help – especially to discuss topics such as this – but really you just need to play. Figuring out WvW isn’t rocket science. You play for a while, and if you have fun, you learn fast.

Is it more fun and a challenge now that you’re 2nd for a week and 3rd for 2 weeks? Or are you looking to drop into T3, win every week, get bored, and then stop playing entirely?

I don’t think we’re going to be 3rd for two weeks. We’ll probably be T3 after this week, if things keep going the way they are. Unless DB chokes hard and we rally (HA!), this might be the last match you play against us. According to millenium, the potential rating difference between DB and Kaineng is all of 13 points. I know that might change by Friday, but a Kaineng rally at this point seems about as likely as an honest politician.

I know it’s tempting to look at the spread and say “well this tier is still really competitive!” but the thing you have to remember is that Kaineng is not used to struggling like this, and the score is a little deceiving right now because it won’t be anywhere near this close in 12 hours, much less 6 days. When we were losing to BG, at least we were still improving our game and had good participation, but neither of those things are true anymore.

FA and TC are used to duking it out in this ranking slot, whereas KN is used to consistently improving. So once that stopped happening, I think players lost interest while TC and FA both maintained a more consistent participation rate.

Exactly what I was trying to say, thanks for articulating the point better than I did. We realized after we were in T2 for a while that we didn’t have the horsepower to make T1, and not enough of our players wanted to try for T1 anyway. So the feeling of challenge eventually faded. Our core players have been the same since we blew through the other tiers and came to T2. I think MEOW were the last sizable guild we had come over, and that was how many months ago?

But we all know if DB continue to roll T3 this week, we’ll just drop and probably roll T3 in their place, then DB will drop down again…and so on. I feel the Tier 2 dynamic has changed. I see weeks of KN, and possibly FA at times, trading places with DB, unless the other T3 servers can step it up…or DB come to T2 and stick.

Maybe I have it all wrong, but why not just enjoy the good fights when we can and see how it all plays out eventually.

The problem isn’t so much response time as it is participation in general. I don’t think a lot of players have actually left the server, but we’re clearly not WvWing as much anymore. It used to be that you could go to other maps and ask for help, but now everything except KBL and EB are outmanned 90% of the time, and getting players to leave EB is like pulling teeth (especially since it’s about the only map where we tend to do well).

This is sad to hear. C’mon Kaineng. We <3 you. Come back and play WvW!
I want a solid Tier 2 with good fights every week, like it was a month ago. A server dropping just ‘cause they had a single bad week and the fairweathers decide that it’s not worth playing any more is not cool. Fight back! Show us your server pride.

It’s really not that sad. Look at it another way. I think a lot of us just aren’t that motivated to continually win anymore. I think a lot have realized it’s more fun to play WvW casually, without really caring about score too much, than to play it intensely just so we can be number one in T2.

I already predicted last week that Kain and FA would fight for second, but TC seems to be doing us a favour by always turning KN BL green.

Well, to be fair, it’s a heck of a lot easier to turn their BL green than yours. Your response times are much better, and you actually do mesmer sweeps if we do manage to take something. KN apparently doesn’t even sweep SMC for mesmers; Slashy hid in there and got us into inner literally 15 minutes after KN capped it.

Ummm…oops. Dang it, we forgot that again!

Anyway, I am sure Maguuma will be overjoyed at the thought of a Kaineng visit soon. LOL…can you hear it now?

Well I wouldn’t call it forum wars. It’s all just “oh you’re helping KN, lemme see how I could turn them against you” or “oh you’re recruiting, lemme see how to twist it and say how you’re not helping KN again”. Just a bunch of regular trolls that have a “troll post” written on each and every post in their history. When they don’t have anything to troll about, they get back under their bridge since they can’t post or tolerate nice things.

And for the record..who decided KN “hates” FA. We don’t. I personally get a kick out of fighting those guys. They are big, learn, adapt…although they seem to have learned the TC 50+ in a tower tactic…not crazy about that one, but it works.

I do not speak for all of KN but I really don’t think we have an issue with FA. They are, like TC and BG before them, our T2 bros. Who disagrees??
