Can that lore be found anywhere in the game? I’m not accusing you of being wrong, but the Guild Wars 2 wikipedia doesn’t state that they’ve been wiped out, only that they have no contact with the surface and have dedicated themselves to stemming the tide of the Destroyers.

If you go through the Priory my story line, you’ll get to find out some information about that. I won’t go into any detail in case some people read this and decide to try out the priory road on a new character.

They do go into the dwarves. Based on what you learn, it does seem rather unlikely; however… despite the unlikelihood…. who knows?

but rather than bring them back; maybe hteir ancestors living in the earth breed a new evolution of dwarves? xD or…

i liked the idea of possibly maybe a new type… that’s in another part of the map not revealed yet who are also out fighting the dragon in their part of the world. like in parts not accessible right now. the lands of Tyria are vast. There’s so much we’re not seeing. Who knows what’s transpired there in the last 250 years.

Tengu. Hylek. shark like creatures. but no fairy’s or mermaids.

I agree with this point. If we’re gonna be able to play another race later on; let’s pull from existing races which are already effected by the events going on in Tyria. I personally also vote for Hyleks or the frog people? Quaggans… Quaggans seem to make the most sense to me since there are already a few villages with merchants, waypoints, etc nearby.

Noting on my Map

something this would also be useful for. Certain DE’s when you finish them trigger futher events. Some of those also have chains, so you can end up following for a series of 3-5 events. Not all do this, but quite a few do. You could write yourself a pin on the map near a heart quest to remind you THAT’S where you went to pick up that chain, so your alts can do it too.. or so you can take your guild or friends to do it if they haven’t.

There are so many endless uses to being able to note it. In a way, that’d be kind of sort of like the way people can add notations etc in google earth. when you’re in google earth looking at a map; you don’t need to leave and go visit some other website with the spoilers of what’s noted on that map. you just click on it to see what’s the deal is.

maybe htey could implement a small legend of characters or allow custom characters to add to the map to indicate crafting node; point of special personal interest, starting jumping puzzle locations, etc etc

Ok. So, today was my first time trying this story quest. I put it off to complete as much stuff in the straights of devestation as possible FIRST.

well, i’ve restarted thsi quest at least five times today. and every single tiem except for one; it gets stuck… and the one time it didn’t.. suddenly so many risen appeared at once.. i was very overwhelmed… and i’m not sure what i did that time. besides maybe let myself get killed and spawned at the checkpoint inside the game.. but then they all came on me and i guess trehearned and the other guards were dead too. i feel like i need a nap before I try this again.

Sever Event (player hosted)

I had a similar idea. I’ve hosted similar events in other games, and I attended a really awesome one in a long ago mmo.

I had been stewing on the idea of doing this on denravi. My concerns have been so far.. how can you ENSURE that noone’s using waypoints? Are they guarded/manned by people in guild helping to watch for anyone who pops in and out of it?

I think another fun epic journey route but hard to be sure noone’s using waypoints is from blackcitadel up to the very far corner of um.. Fireheart Rise… XD

I wasn’t sure which forum was the appropriate one, so if this belongs in another forum. By all means, please move it, but lemme know where you move it to. ok mods?

So, if you call Henge of Denravi your home. Please post here. Also, if you have an asura and would be interested in a dance video project. Please say that also. I had a great idea for a music video project. I’d want a lot of asuras.

on a side note: it’d be awesome if we could have our own server forums. or, if any denravi peeps know of a forum out there made just for us even just by our own people.. please let me know! thanks.

Expanding end game content, pve and pvp

As for the dueling, I’ve been seeing this pop up a lot all over the suggestions.
A way this could be implemented is just to create a certain area. Like, they could make it a new location in any of the major cities. Kind of like an arena. Though conceptually, it’d work sort of like keg brawling. You go into it as parties, and anyone in your party can duel with anyone else in that area. Somewhere near Black Citadel or Divinity’s Reach would work really well.

Improving the end game

I’ve been leveling in Blazeridge Steppes. Also the one right beneath it whose name I keep forgetting. From the sounds of this Tarnished Coast, I also need to go there too. thanks for the tip.

It amazes me when people complain about lack of end game. When Anet has said so many times that their concept involving end game is that they wanted the whole game to feel like end game. The idea was that players move through the game experiencing the whole thing as if it were the end game. They weren’t doing their end game the same cookie cutter way so many mmo’s do. They’ve posted this many times. They even recently posted it on a blog called “the end game reimagined”. Maybe just noone listens or takes it seriously.

How can you tell when someone is botting? In all my years of gaming, I’ve never been able to discern this with exception of boxing in wow.

As for the players idling, they could be chatting and are just standing in a safe spot? Like, sometimes i’ll be out in a zone while fielding whispers and guild chat from multiple people. While trying to move through a zone with a lot of bogeys which hit me every few steps, this gets problematic. It’s not too bad an idea for people to idle somewhere while carrying on lengthy conversations.

Character bound karma recipes need to go.

I’ll sign onto this one. This happened to me. My main does cooking. While my warrior alt was out and about got a recipe she could use. I bought it on that toon, put it in the bank, and when I went back to my main, she couldn’t pull it out because it was bound to the character.

to build on that; it’d be nice ot be able to vend or salvage the stuff we buy with karma. i have a handful of items just taking up mothballs in my bank.

There is something seriously wrong with the TP

…cont…

If a situation in which the TP is filled with junk prime materials that anyone can afford and which completely ruins the reason for gathering materials seems normal to you, you’re wrong.

Clearly you’ve never played an MMO right after release of the original game or an expansion.

I thought you were gathering to craft materials, not sell them on the TP. Now your reasoning shines through the clouds:

You are frustrated you can’t gather and sell your mats.

Welcome to supply glut right after the release of an MMO. Wait it out, you can’t do anything about it except find another means of enjoying yourself. Why not try and max out every single gem collectible you can and then when the prices skyrocket you can sell it and sit on a small fortune?

This is a great point. We all have to keep in mind in regards to the economy that with the game being so new; things still need to settle. Server populations haven’t even completely settled yet. I’m sure six months from now; things will seem much different. We may have some players that take a break and aren’t around as much; so there could be less number of people listing certain things. Also, with all the new players having had more higher level characters by then, various mats will take on newer values. It might even get to a point where after a year, the prices of low level mats are actually higher as there are more abundances of higher level mats because the average player is gathering from those areas since they’ve done everything they can in the lower level zones. ((I apologize if I didn’t find the right places to break up that last one))

For gems, transmogrification isn’t as useful as you’d hope because by gathering players have the gems they need to craft the gear they need. I only used transmogrification a few times because it was good crafting XP, and when I needed some specific gems for my gear which I didn’t have (for the stat bonus I wanted). If purely interested in leveling up the craft, players don’t really need this because they’re so flooded with the gems they need to craft orange colored jewels they don’t have to rely on transmogrification (recycling old gems). I think this is one of the reasons gemstones that aren’t the highest tier are so worthless at the trading post.

While I kept reading your posts, there was something going on that I couldn’t figure out what it was. This part made me realize what it was. You are just assuming that every single other player who does actually gather as they play the game and work on their crafts would have accumulated the same over supply of crafting mats that you do.

Please keep in mind you’re just making an assumption. Maybe you have more time to play the game, and don’t really do other things like WvW and only roam/explore/gather. So, maybe the amounts of stuff you’re collecting is higher. I’m a jeweler as well, but I do a lot of things in game. I try to stop as often as I can for gathering, but sometimes I’m in the middle of an event and can’t. Especially when it’s an escort leading up to something special like the Shatterer.

I’m still leveling my jeweler craft. I’m only like around 205. I keep running out of gold ore. I find tons of Iron Ore, but not so much gold ore. Of course, I might not be in the right zones to find it, but the zones i’m in atm where I do find it in lesser supply. The gold items i make are barely meeting the level of gear I need. Kind of feels like what i’m making in that is behind what I can use.

SO…. I have used the TP to supplement my supply of gold ore when I run out. However, the prices of gold ore stacks HAS been going up. I had to stop buying. And, I have transmogrified a lot of my gems after I unlocked the filigree item. Then, I started discovering all the filigrees + gem types.

I’m just saying that your experiences aren’t always everyone’s experiences. The way you seem to generalize and say this is how everything is… Feels exceptionally condescending. :/ so since not everyone has done everything just the way you do. then obviously, the rest of us are super lazy.

I use the TP lots. When I see orders buying things at only 1c or 2c; i don’t sell to those people. I just create my own selling order at what I wanna sell it at.

Well this LIFO explains a lot. I have items I put in when the TP very first went up that hasn’t sold yet.

anyone know if relisting it at a higher value might help with that? or would all the ones that are cheapest have to sell first before they’d see yours?

and, I’ve had problems with selling to custom orders. when they wanna buy a bunch of something for 1 or 2c. the TP tells me that i can’t sell something for less than vendor price.

Why The Economy is Borked

That wasn’t what my post was referring to. I was addressing the issue that one of the fastest ways to earn coin is to custom bid and unequally distributes the wealth as the more coin you have, the faster you can earn. The second issue is that slow to sell items run the risk of never being sold due to 1c undercutting. There is very little information on how many items of that type are actually available since it only lists the cheapest item, preventing informed decisions on what to craft.

Just wanted to jump in here as I’m reading down through this rather entertaining thread.

I am going to preface my comments by saying: I actually do not understand a lot about economics. I almost never get involved in markets in any of my online doings in MMO’s or Gaia Online. I don’t have the patience or the savvy to do this.

I think there are probably a LOT of people out there LIKE ME who also don’t have this. I think there’s a good chance there’s a fair lot of casual players out there who really only use the TP to wanna sell a thing for some quick pocket change.

I know when i was selling mats like the wind to raise money for my level 40 training manual. Then, after that, I recently have earned one gold. I have to say i feel reluctant to spend it on anything since it’s taken me a while to get it. of course i haven’t completed any maps for 100% yet. I also have only done one dungeon run. Maybe I’m lacking in all this other surplus everyone else has.

I often wonder to myself if the amount or percentage of players who just spend their days at the TP reps all day making money trading over playing the game.

But, I do not like AT ALL the suggestion to fix the pricing available to be seen. If I wanna buy a new shoulder piece, and I look on the market. Why should I be forced to buy the most expensive one?

I think a problem that I saw in another thread, is the massive action of players across the game all pricing their items for sale at ridiculously low levels. She pointed out how if you sell the item to a vendor, and then you look on the buyback tab; the prices we’re selling our items at to each other is like…. obscenely low.

Players need to work together to start pricing things more reasonably.

Also, when i see orders for like 1 or 2c per item; the game will NOT LET ME sell to that person. the TP will tell me that I cannot sell an item to another player for less than the vendor price.

you know. those first few weeks of launch when the TP was constantly down? While it was down, people on our server were selling blues @ 5-10s each and greens 15-30s each.. depending on their levels… then, when the TP first started coming up; the rates were SO much lower!!! like.. just wow lower. but when the TP is down, rates on things shoot through the roof on Denravi.

Waypoint costs have to go.

i believe that’s called artificial inflation. the actual value of money you get really isn’t “more” even though in quantity it seems like it’s more. since the money is worth less and you need more money to buy; you’re still not really advancing at all.

Give some reward/loot/exp for buffing/healing allies.
Also (maybe off topic) give guardians some boost when buffing allies, or it will always be a mere supporter in party istances (Altruistic Healing is not enough unfortunately), and a ranged weapon for wvw (scepter sucks).

I haven’t used a Guardian yet; but my hunch would be that they do not WANT or design the game so that any one class can be a dedicated healer/support role. they want all roles to have the capacity to do most jobs. just some will do certain things better. obviously heavy armors can handle up front damage better. i actually think it’d be nicer if more classes had better buffs they can share with their allies. some professions have several buffs while others only have one or two.

Please add the ability for guild to tax their members from their money directly dropped from kills.

I think the problem with this type of system; it can be problematic. How do you decide if one guild wants to have a flat tax? or a percentage based? because money drops from kills are pretty random. Some kills don’t give you any money drop. Some might give you more than others. For players working in lower level zones which yeild less money; they wouldn’t be able to pay higher amounts of players who do higher level/end game content.

Most improvements in the game would need to be able to serve the entire community at large. Not just guilds who wanna tax people. As it is right now, in a guild vault, you have a log you can look at to see who’s donating money. if someone hasn’t donated in X amount of time, you send them a message to or else you’ll remove them? just a suggestion and work around in mean while.

WvW suggestions:
-make seige equipment like arrow carts, ballistas which are built on wheels be able to be undeployed and taken with them on the map. at least the arrow cart. the idea of building a cart, that’s on wheels.. but you can’t move it at all once it’s put down? I’m not demanding of course.. but.. yeah. I think this could be really useful. Obviously, some things like a ram; you’re not gonna just tote all over becuase it wouldn’t make sense for htat type of item. nor would you a trebuchet. but an arrow cart? sure why not unless it’s been damaged to destruction.

-que’ing for maps//show number of open slots on a map: this suggestion is to implement something that allows us to see if one of hte maps has open slots. ok, so when you click on the wvw castle at the top of your screen; it opens up a drop down menu to see the 4 maps. Right now, you can’t see which one is full or isn’t. You just keep playing roulette till you find one or just get in a que for the one you want most; i think it’d be helpful if when picking one. If there were open slots, people could easily just go there; instead of queing for another map that will have them waiting a while.

-a guild reward that they can possibly enable through upgrades in guild UI for wvw – guild “waypoints” that can be built in the big fort keeps on either E or W. the way this could work is if your guild claims and keeps control of one of the E or W keeps; then you could activate a possible guild upgrade of enabling a waypoint there. Maybe only your guild members could use it? or, maybe the whole of just that map? please note that upgrade would only be in that one keep on that one map. it wouldn’t be there on other maps as well since your guild might not have control of it anywhere else.
