WATAH!

Also, they better release his dual katana on release. Imma be real mad if they do not. Also if you die, you should turn the entire zone to Jade and fossil lol!

Video is for those who do not know Shiro, the angry dude in red armor is him.

I do know that games with a lot of activity and energization such as GW2 do need some downtime of close to an hour before bed to wind down the system. While it s a computer games, it is a very attention grasping game with all of the split second dodges, and skill changes. Gets the blood pumping. Not good for winding down.

I love reading about all you folks, there are some interesting people to say the least! You are all amazing!

  • 26 year old consultant for Information Technology Managed Services
  • Male
  • Born Virginian, grew up in Bunbury, Australia, and Houston Texas. finally moved abck to Virginia for high school and College.
  • Visited about 35 of the 50 states of the US, England, Singapore, Fiji
  • Married to a beautiful and amazing woman I met in a Pen and Paper RPG club playing Pathfinder/d20 modern. She currently leads our guild.
  • Played Pen and Paper for the last 10 years.
  • Played MMO’s since I was 13, and logged into Everquest for the first time. I have loved it ever since. Only GW2 has gotten me as addicted as the old Everquest days.
  • Technology lover
  • Spends majority of time in game playing with dies and outfits.
  • Was a hardcore RPer in the Everquest days. There was something about being able to be a completely different person which was fun.
  • Wants to some day own a herd of Corgi’s
  • Has a bad knack for trolling people taking the game too seriously. The sarcasm cannot be contained and my wife hates my antagonism.

1. Layered condition removal.
2. Tactics and target priority.
3. Why should 20 people be able to take on 60 people? How does that at all make sense besides defense?
4. I got nothing for Arrow Carts. The FOV slider is putting people more on par with my Surround view three monitor setup. Before, I could just zoom out, look down, and hit anything at any angle I want by the wall. It was super nice.

Zergs of 30 people being just immune to CC all the time is seriously casual mode. I keep hearing folks yelling about the changes being made for casuals…how? How is increased tactical gameplay and teamwork a change towards casual, and not the other direction? When I ran with zergs all I had to do with my ranger was Autoattack and rapid fire. Thats about it. If they got in my face, I had to think a bit more…but not really.

With CC becoming more usable, I need to actually look to see the targets who are spamming CC and shut that stuff down. Gameplay has become far more tactical, and less mindless.

What is rooting you? I have never encountered an issue of being rooted and then rushed, and I have lord knows how many hours in SW. You should always have some kind of condition removal on your skill bar anyways. Dodge attacks that root? I really have no idea what is rooting you. Again, I have never encountered a root in SW.

I also know a bunch of people who are newish (first level 80, less than 100-200 hours of play time), do not move much.

Let me tell all the folks who are new, or not entirely experienced. NEVER. STAND. STILL. A lot of attacks are lines and will not automatically hit. If you move back and forth, or strafe, you can simply not be in the path of a lot of strong attacks. It is fairly easy to dodge Terragrifs, or trolls, or slingers if you simply move. Jump in and out of combat.

Guild Wars 2 has very few skills you need to stand and channel, most are mobile. That is designed into the game for this very reason. Always be moving, always have situation awareness.

So what about all those condition removing skills? Every class has a skill to remove conditions. Why not try those? Why not try Guardian shouts that remove conditions? Why not try actual team work, and layered condition removal?

Melee is still viable, it simply requires team work now, and target priority. Those eles who always sat at the back being useless? Well you should prolly get your ranged folks on them. Hammer warriors got you down? Fear them, root them, knock them back. What works on you, works on them.

WvW builds have always been so focused on damage/movement, and root removal, now folks need to actually think about conditions mattering. Zergs need to look at what is there and have a couple of support folks for condition removal, have a few strong ranged options to knock down their ele’s and necros.

Actual strategy has come into play a bit.

The concept of lowering levels to match area would be that your power is lowered to try and match as close as possible to average for that level. There is very little reason to be a god amongst mere mortals in the low level zones. You are still doing at least twice the damage of any of the people actually of that level. The gold you spent on your gear was for your ability to work within your OWN tier. I have never been happy with the sheer power curve of exotic clad down leveled as it makes it a bit less fun running with my low level friends when I one and two shot everything.

Trust me, your still doing pounds more damage than anyone else at that level.

Mordrem all require a bit of knowledge. I can face three terragriffs without any difficulty. Its an annoyingly long fight, but that’s too be expected. Terragriffs are destroyed by any form of hard and soft CC, minus blinds, that do any form of movement impairment. I actually wait for the animation to start for their charge, and then hit the cripple effects. It knocks them down for a time and makes them easier to kill.

If folks are complaining about the 1st person view in combat, your doing it wrong. I was most looking forward to the angled up 3rd Person camera change.

I have been playing my Mesmer in PvP and have not had many issues to be honest. I routinely get near top of the totem pole and can win almost any duel. No class is good if they are constantly getting Dazed from anyone one of 3-4 sources . Further more, Mesmers are difficult to keep targeted with multiple forms of fast invis, or decoys.

A good mesmer can be good. Can they get into serious business on a world tourney team? I do not know. All I know is when playing my ranger its a lot less work for me kills.

All they really need to do is make Boon Duration, and Healing stats a bit more effective and prevalent and they would introduce the capability of folks being able to take up support/healing if they want.

With the introduction of Taunt, and the enemies prioritizing Toughness/Armor based characters, Tanks are already in, everyone already does DPS, with the Defiance bar, CC will become a bit more useful. Introduce Boon Duration increase items, and boost healing power a bit more, and done. The holy trinity is there if folks want, but is not necessary. It will not really create much change to the game. most folks would remain berzerkers for PvP, as that will never not be effective, and WvW is too chaotic for effective healers. I would see most healers remaining in PvE, and Dungeons. I can run a fairly successful healer build on my Guardian in most dungeons already.

Cause then the clients get all grumpy, and kitteny, and start demanding new date for release, what will it take to fix the bug? Can we release stuff that are not the bug? Well too tell the truth, we can release everything around the bug! It is no problem! You know, we just wont move the bug over. Why didn’t we think of that???

/sarcasm

I give kudo’s to ANET for at least keeping us all informed on the state of the game update. I was SUPER looking forward to this, but I completely understand wanting to release a complete update rather than half kitten it.

These situations are just as bad if not worse for the developers. They DO NOT WANT to miss a release date.

So not the most normal request, to be sure.

I am leader of a very small guild, 8-12 players, called The Wrecking Krewe[NYE]. We are all IRL friends, and do not really wish to grow our guild outside of folks we know, but we would like to support our servers WvW footprint. What we are seeking is a larger WVW guild we could run with/aid, with one or two of our members joined with theirs as a liaison position to relate events/gatherings/etc. We all have mic’s and can happily join Teamspeak/mumble/ventrilo/etc.

We can build a full party of five and have one commander (cause we thought it was funny). Several of us are very experienced, several of us are very inexperienced. We have been running around the last month with random zergs but are finding we would like to have more coordination with larger guilds to better support them/our server, and to better plan our time.

Please contact me in whichever way you feel is best. Thank you!

Do you believe Raids are coming?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: gricks.1897

gricks.1897

You do not need a trinity for a raid, you need mechanics. We have seen in a much lesser forms, various different mechanics in dungeons (Lupy, Lovers, Flame Legion leader going god(I forget his name)). These mechanics exist, it will just require some clever ingenuity and thinking to incorporate these into a form that could function as a raid.

1. Boss could take less damage over time, and require a combination of abilities to break this, it seems this is what is happening with the new defiance bar that when depleted a special effect happens.
2. Positioning, this already exists with the lovers and the Vinewrath champions.
3. Combos, they have existed since the beginning, perhaps the boss for a time can only be damaged by electricity (electricity fields, shoot through them, give projectiles electricity damage).

These mechanics exist in game today. They just require some thought and imagination to incorporate into a raid designed for GW2. The holy trinity is not necessary, they just belong in a different type of games raid system.

Ascended skins are some of the ugliest skins out there. The only reason people run around with them is to show off that they have ascended gear or they are too lazy to change the skins.

If it’s only the skins and they don’t mind getting “crappy” stats, there’s still the chance to get ascended weapon chests from guild missions and fractals, if that’s something they do enjoy.
Other than that, one kind of ascended skin drops from Tequatl – the weapons of the Sunless. Those skins are pretty rad, especially for necromancers or darker themed characters in general.

Everybody has the time to get ascended gear. Just gotta work on it a little every day until you get there. Now, that might take a long time, but fortunately you can do most anything in the game and be making progress toward it, as long as you’re getting money.

It sounds like your friends are too lazy to do the work and get the reward, so I don’t know why you want to do it for them. They can have ascended gear when they put in the effort to get it.

Yes true, but one is a father of a 4 year old and a soon to be father of a second child, and another is in the process of a new job, and getting married. They can play maybe a couple times a week, and we enjoy adventuring together as opposed to sitting around a crafting station. It is not so much they want ascended gear, as it is the skins. They are not lazy, they just have to prioritize their game time. My own wife personally prefers playing more than sitting down and leveling crafting.

This is not laziness so much as differences in priorities and enjoyment.

My topic was on the possibility of this, or if perhaps it is a thought for the future.

So I have been thinking of this for a while. I have seen the ability in other MMO’s, I really do not remember the one I played, where people could “hire” a crafter to create Soulbound weapons/armor for them.

Personally I love crafting the ascended items and weapons and I enjoy unlocking them. I know several of my friends do not like the crafting though. They really do not want to take the time, energy, and money (or simply do not have the time, energy, or money) to sink into ascended gear, but they love the skins.

I was wondering if this has ever been thought of, or discussed. The ability for people to “hire” a crafter to create soulbound/account bound items for them. I would love to craft ascended gear for my mates who enjoy the look, but do not have the time to create ascended gear.

When is first wave of dungeon changes coming?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: gricks.1897

gricks.1897

Personally I think rewards in dungeons could use a minor a buff. Not much, just a slight change in drop values. I think end dungeon rewards are fine. Plenty of EXP, always enough silver to offset even the worst run in repair costs, and a nice chunk of karma. The one problem I hate with dungeons, and one that has given me huge problems finding a group for COE is the damage sponging of bosses. Subject Alpha destroyed me the first few times, now I can do him with 1 maybe 2 deaths. I still HATE this boss simply because I just sit there auto-attacking and damage buffing. He’s not fun. He’s a GREAT concept and I love the Resident Evil feel of him, a triple layer boss is pretty cool…his health pool just destroys the fun of the dungeon though, and I really think this is the problem many of the dungeons have.

As for gear previewing. I don’t believe it should be instituted. When people can preview gear, you instantly create an elitist mentality. I am already seeing groups popping up requesting group members with only exotic gear for dungeon runs. I personally have all exotics, but I am using my tier 2 asuran racial chest piece, vigil pants, and boots, and a karma tier 3 rifle, shield, and pistol. The only visible exotics are the cof shoulders and gloves. With previews, group leaders can preview each members gear and if he doesn’t like the stat combo, or rarity, he might kick. Happened in WOW, it would here. I don’t want that.

I have played Elementalist(11), Mesmer(31), Engineer(80), Warrior(10), Ranger(12), and Gaurdian(11). They all seemed to have the same amount of power to me. It alld epends on how you play them. If you stack vitality and toughness on a Engineer, you get one tanky engineer, but doesnt deal much power. Stack Power and Vitality on a Engineer, you get semi durable, high damage Engineer. Power and Precision, you deal pounds of damage but cant take a hit.

Its all int he player. If you know how to counter a class, or get the most out of yours, your good to go.

So I have been playing since the first beta. Back 5.5 years ago when I heard about Guild Wars 2, I lost my self for about a month finding everything I could about rumors and brainstorms about the game. My friend and I stayed up all 48 hours of the weekend playing the first beta, and on release he drove 5.5 hours, and we all camped in my living room to play on release. 6 people and 10 computers stuffed into an apartment living room.

Its everything I had hoped for. This game is fantastic on many points, and is an excellent foundation for an amazing project. But it is still early and over the last couple months I have compiled a few things that I hope is implemented and changed:

-Raid style dungeons: 2-4 group dungeons. Teams are great in WvW, but I would love to have it implemented in PvE in some way.

-More class specific armours: A lot of armours are focused toward generalized views of those armours. Guardians really don’t have a set of armour that really matches their class, engineers often have ranger or assassin styled armours. More diverse options would be nice.

-True drop specialities: What this means is, certain bosses could drop loot specific to them. Nothing special in stats, but special in visuals. Something similar to Legendary weapons in look. I killed zhaitan, get a special shoulder armour for example.

-Preview in Auction House. Nuff said.

-In-game marriage. I made my points in the thread.

-Dungeon queueing: I feel like the group/dungeon dynamic is an out of date mechanic standing in LA or outside the dungeon broadcasting yourself, and the LFG function is somewhat hidden. I think we need a queue system that will automatically group people for a dungeon.

These are just my thoughts and views. I LOVE this game and look forward to being here during its growth. Does anyone else have thoughts on it? Something they didnt expect?

My guild is a guild of about 21 people, we all know each other here in College, so our age range is about 21-24. My and my SO are both 23. This has actually been one of the sad things. Since release we have only about 4-5 who are still active and truly love playing this game. The rest have left after about 3 weeks to go play LoL, and Borderlands 2. Interestingly enough, those left were all the 80s. Out of 21 members, we have 5 level 80’s and all 5 have stayed.

Its sad, but my age range has a bit of ADD on games and require acute rewards for what they do….stereotypically speaking, we cant just sit down and enjoy the game.

I’d think it’s pathetic if some people start an outcry due to gay marriage
being accepted in the game. Kind of feels like “Oh grow up” : p. . .

To answer the lore question. I think you may just be able to find a loophole.
Sure, some races in Tyra might not marry, but maybe we could say, that your character
is so unusual anyway, to have traveled so far and wide in Tyra and experienced so many things… That they’re quite unusual. THUS, marriage is quite fine ^^.

Actually, the current events are changing the culture of Tyria. My favorite two NPC’s are the children in Lions Arch, the Charr and Human little girls who are always playing together.

Charr: “Lets play!”
Human: “Ok, but this time I want to be a charr, not a dirty old ghost. Im ash legion!”
Charr: “Doesnt matter to me what you are, lets just play!”

Marriage could be becoming something that entice some Charr, or Norn. The Lore is rewriting itself during the game because of current events. What is cannon and what isn’t is somewhat fluid right now.

At the lower levels, there aren’t these areas. While its probably best, I leveled like a rocket in Orr. I think it would be best at the upper levels of a zone. I get the shelf at the top of the zone and become busy hunting down the dynamics to push me over into the next zone. I think the ending areas need more dynamism.

Marriage I think could be great for both ingame mechanics and rp values. I know my fiancĂ©e and I play a lot together and love the game. We don’t really Roleplay, but we have thought an in-game marriage thing would be kinda fun. Were both software developers as well and invariably it turned to, what would the system be like? And we looked at the anime Sword Art Online.

In Sword Art Online marriage in-game entails the following:
-You share inventory and money

Thats it. We decided to think further. Because you have this sharing system, marrying just anyone might be a liability. So add other benefits.
-Separate space that always displays SO’s profile, not blacked out, but always displaying information. Blacked out on offline mode.
-If grouped in the same area, %5 Karma, Exp, Magic Find boost. These are not huge values, but enough to really foster sticking together.
-Shared dyes.
-Shared bank.
-Shared inventory.

These add a more mechanical view of in game marriage, and helps to display the advantages of marriage. Sexuality also really doesn’t matter here, and honestly, as an in-game mechanic, its ethically neutral. You leave it to the players to marry who they will.

The engi class does have a lack of “usefull” skills though. But it seems that way for most classes. The problem I have with engineer is really their lack of variety. Sure Kits are supposed to take the place of other weapons…but….its really not the same. Rifle is weak on the DPS side as it only has one or two high damage abiltiies and those abilities are counter intuitive to a rifles range. Pistols imo are the best due to blast, bleed, and ranged damage out put.

To be honest, the engineer needs more weapons. The Elementalist functions on the same guide lines of not having weapon swap but in their case, every weapon has 20 different abilities due to elemental attunement.

I personally love the flamethrower. I stack power and condition and it does pounds more damage on average then my dual pistols. There is a sweet spot for it though, so its not ENTIRELY spray and pray. I rarely get misses…how do you guys get all those misses? Currenlty level 68 engi and almost always have it on my tool kit.
