There are no words to express how disappointed I am about this event. 40 seconds to 1 minute skill response time!? Are you kidding me!?
People expressed their concern so many times about how you will not going to be able to sustain normal play conditions with so many players in one place yet you ignored that fact completely and decided to invite even more people. Now what do you think how I feel about the fact that it was more important to you to invite more potential buyers instead of keeping your attention to people who already paid for the game? You are becoming greedy and the more time passes I think you have less and less things in common with everything that represented the original Guild Wars spirit.
And now when the “event that will change Lion’s Arch forever” is over I am sure glad that I witnessed it cause you know… Spending 10 silver coins on repairs just to be able to see how a lighthouse gets cut in half was totally worth it… NOT!

I’ve noticed today that I am no longer required to enter my mobile authenticator code when logging in to the game or forums although I haven’t changed anything in my account security settings where its still stated that my account is using the two step authentication process.
I am not sure when did it stop working but I know for a fact that until yesterday mobile authentication was still working.
Bug or a temporary problem?
As far as elementalists are concerned I would also completely remove cool-downs for their attunement switches and introduce potential cool-downs AFTER the switch has been performed. I.e. +1 second cool down on all skills which means unused skilles for the new attunement would also become unavailable for 1 sec but players would be absolutely sure that they switched to the new attunement.
In case I wasn’t clear enough until now my main issue with the way how cool-downs currently works is that it introduces too much uncertainty into gameplay regarding the availability of the requested weapon set / attunement. In my opinion weapon swaps should ALWAYS be available and all cool-down restrictions should be applied AFTER the switch has been performed, i.e. through skills cool-down adjustments. There should be no need to baby sit two different groups of cool-down timers of which one artificially blocks the other one.
Sure there might be some balance problems at the beginning of which I might not be aware of currently but considering that I’ve played almost all professions until now (except Thief which already looks kind of what I am after) I think at least it might be worth a try.

I was just about to ask the same question. Whats the point of weapon swap cool-downs? While I can understand skill cool-downs I can’t honestly think of a good reason why I would be denied the right to swap between my warrior’s longbow and greatsword without having to wait for the cool-down to expire. This “feature” was greatly responsible for the majority of my deaths caused by the fact that after an accidental swap I was unable to switch back to the more appropriate weapon (i.e. greatsword during melee fight).
My suggestion – remove weapons swaps cool-downs completely and if required adjust skill cool-down times appropriately. That way you would remove this completely artificial gameplay element and still retain control of potential balance issues through adjustment of skill cool-downs. This would also allow players to have more diversity during fights because it would be easier to quickly combine unused skills from both weapon sets.
32 and decided to quit the game today. For two months I thought I will get used to things that bothered me from the very beginning but today I realized its time for me to stop wasting time. A decision not easily made considering how many years I spent with GW1.
They should be renamed to “wannabee-platform-yet-missed-by-a-mile” assignments. An MMO engine is simply not cut off to be as precise as its required for platforming gameplay. In GW2 there are too many situations where the ground bellow the player acts inconsistent and unpredictable.
There is a reason for that dwarf/stone joke easily explained through Guild Wars lore. If you played GW1 you should know that all of the dwarfs sacrificed themselves to defeat the Great Destroyer by invoking an ancient spell and turning themselves into stone. Cogito ergo boom… Dwarf → stone
Karma rewards finally give some meaning to daily and monthly achievements. I mean the amount of stuff that went into salvage instead of selling was a HUGE investment compared to what people were getting so far for completing the monthly achievement. Way to go!
A clean example… You can usually easily fight champions with a group of lets say 10-20 people but if you decide to go for the Krait Witch or the Diessa Plateau Giant you are in for a surprise. Both of them can easily clean-slate a group of 20-30 people in a matter of seconds. So you basically need to engage them in order to realize that you should never repeat that experience again.
@praeclarus
Not if you are after transmuting your whole armor That’s 20 clicks more at least
Ok I get it its part of the latest patch change but what I don’t get is why? Was there some kind of an exploit that needed to be fixed this way? Now basically if you want to do several transmutations in a row you have to transfer every piece of the equipment to the inventory, activate the stone, transmute the item and then put it back where it was. Basically four steps instead of the previously two? Why?
Enemy invulnerability is one of the worst things GW2 introduced – period! I complained about it on numerous occasions when I even provided proof how badly things can go wrong when enemies suddenly become invulnerable yet instead of seeing some improvement on that field with every day there are more and more enemies that suddenly become invincible.
The latest example being that bugged pirate Luka from Sparkfly fen. For a very long time she was not even available (skill point was bugged) yet yesterday she miraculously appeared offering a lot of people a chance to complete the skill. However if in the middle of the activated skill challenge a nearby event was triggered (like that crazy Asura trying to bring back one of the pirate ghosts to life) Luka becomes INVULNERABLE for the person which triggered the skill challenge but she STILL attacks all of the players as she apparently becomes part of the event!
So now you have a situation in which you are certain to fail if you enter the basement alone because you have no way of defending against Luka and all the other NPCs keep attacking you as part of their event programming. Now how can anyone expect people to enjoy the game when enemies suddenly become invincible like that?
I can’t seem to be able to use HoM items transmutation anymore.
Now after I click to confirm the transmutation nothing happens and I’ve done the whole process at least 50 times until now.
EDIT: Standard transmutation works fine.

You know what? Don’t even bother bringing it up again. Just let it die and bring back the old direct trading system.
Really just a simple official “yes we confirm it, its a bug” or “no its intended behavior” would suffice. Its hard to believe that there is no official statement on this potential issue for so such a long time. Please? Pretty please??
Metacritic is actually a good place to start looking for info about a game however many people use it the wrong way because they concentrate too much on numbers and ratings and way less on actual information that can be read in the reviews.
My advice for Metacritic – read the reviews written by game reviewing web sites first because no matter how biased you may think they are they are still made by professionals. After that read the user reviews because you are more likely to find something useful you might have wanted to know about the game in there. Whatever you do don’t bother with ratings just pure info extracted from reviews itself.
Guys even if you complete the XP requirement for the monthly achievement chances are you won’t be able to get 50 kills in WvWvW because of performance issues that are still making WvWvW unplayable. Even on high end machines frame rate in WvWvW often drops to one digit values which is basically unplayable.
I decided to give GW2 a one month time-out in order to avoid further frustration given that there are still tons of bugs. I just hope I’ll find the game in a generally better shape once I come back.
For the past two days I have been experiencing graphical glitches which made the game almost unplayable for me. The problem is that terrain and object surfaces kept randomly disappearing especially if I would position the camera to face my character from frog perspective or I was passing through caves and narrow passages.
At first I thought it was just a glitch which would go away when I leave Metrica Province (that’s the first place where I experienced a graphical glitch of this type and magnitude) but the situation became even worse in Harathi Hinterlands where in some situations it was almost impossible to move through the game (I even fell a couple of times from high places because I was unable to distinguish the “real” surfaces and couldn’t map travel because I wanted the monthly survivor title – which is also bugged if I might add).
Judging by what I have seen I’d say occlusion culling doesn’t work as its supposed to but I’ll leave the final judgement to the professionals. Naturally I sent bug reports every time I encountered these anomalies (which is a lot) however I also wanted to make sure this problem gets proper attention here too because it really makes the game impossible to play at some times.
Here are a couple of screenshots I made where you can clearly see the problem. Hope this and all the bug reports I’ve sent helps you to resolve the problem.

Digital editions are way more easier to search so personally I’d go for that one.
I already created a topic regarding mob invulnerability during beta weekend events however since there was no official standpoint from the developers (or at least one I am aware of) about whether it was simply a bug or a “feature” I have to ask this question again – what is the point of making mobs invulnerable?
Here is what happened to me just a couple of minutes ago. A number of players gathered around an event to protect the malfunctioning Asura gate in the southeast corner of Metrica Province. All fine and dandy… We managed to complete the event without much fuss but a lot of us was curious about what will happen if we enter the gate. And so we did it… In order to prevent spoilers I’ll just say that we were supposed to escort an NPC and during that assignment we got ambushed. The ambush itself didn’t fell hard to us because despite being a PUG everyone knew what was doing. We completed the quest and naturally since it was a very interesting place most of us decided to explore it (in the middle of the map there was even a Rich Copper Vein).
However just 20 seconds after completing the event Destroyers started to appear in large numbers and literally fill the entire map effectively blocking our way out. That was of course a warning to us that we weren’t welcomed anymore and that we should leave. Imagine how surprised we all were when we found out that we couldn’t fight our way out because all the enemies were INVULNERABLE o_O In a matter of seconds all of us were lying on the floor defeated o_O
In my opinion that’s pure cheating on behalf of the game. How do you fight something that is invulnerable? You can’t cripple it, knock it down or at least slow it to a reasonable speed in order to run away. You just have to accept the fact that if something like that happens you are dead. Now don’t get me wrong I have nothing against a challenge or dying but fighting something that is invulnerable is not a challenge – its pure frustration. Make the mobs spawn in large numbers, make them tougher to kill or even veterans but just don’t make them invulnerable please.
I’ll just quote one of my favorite sentences from an FPS called “Brother in arms” which says “war isn’t fair, but a game should be.” Please do something about these invulnerable mobs because effectively this way you are punishing people for being willing to explore places and judging by how a lot of stuff works in Guild Wars 2 I’d say you wanted the exact opposite to happen.
If you actually read all of the above text then here is an event reward for you – “thank you”… No… No karma for doing it sorry
What was your first thought when you read the title? That I used bad language? Nope I didn’t. I actually used the word “kitten”.
Now seriously, is there a way to simply turn this whole “if there is a bad word it should be replaced with kittens” thing? It really makes some posts hard to read because you never know if a word was just a typo for lets say “kiting” or it was actually a bad word. I actually saw this implemented on several other forums and never understood why people use word replacement instead of simple * censorship. Its not like these forums are publicly visible and you are afraid of your content being indexed with a bunch of asterisks
Yep same thing here. There is a “Sigil de la something” instead of the usual “Dev something” on the front page.
Pretty annoying when you spend a whole evening to reach 50K in the monthly achievement survivor track just to find out on the next day that logging out of the game stopped the counter
Not cool at all. Quaggan sad
