A couple of days ago I’ve accidentally sold one of my crafted ascended weapons to a vendor for a second time. Now I can’t find the vendor and break his legs.
Please add some kind of confirmation dialog which would prevent that. It’s so easy to misplace a valuable ascended weapon when changing weapons and later accidentally sell it to regular vendors, especially since there are no ascended equipment bags/boxes which would automatically store unequipped ascended equipment.
When will you fix this kitten?
I am going to bump this thread once again. Having to deal with three or four people of the same profession which just spam stuff in a conquest based game is ridiculous. Just had a match against three dragonhunters on the new map (Capricorn). Impossible to counter the low CD spamming traps which cover the WHOLE capture point.
Either make the capture points bigger or do something about stacking.
The LFG is bugged beyond belief.
1) First attempt to post an LFG always fails in a way that the LFG gets listed but no description is posted with it (description is blank). Professions in the party can be seen. Only adding (editing) the description for the second time displays it next to the listed LFG.
2) The LFG bugs that were in the game before are now even more annoying. The bug that simply prevents posting any LFG while in party is now even more persistent. Not even dissolving the party or having someone else post it helps.
The Brisban Liberator is still bugged. I honestly don’t care about what some diagnostics tool is saying. Having to wait multiple times for more than an hour and not being able to see one event spawn is just plain ridiculous.
I already spoke my piece on how annoying I find the whole “on the clock” concept.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Stop-gating-map-completion-with-events/first
Could you please fix the bug which prevents people from getting their gliding skills when they use the launch pad during the Shatterer fight. It’s especially annoying during the break bar phases where people are basically useless after the bug kicks in. I just had three straight bugs in a row during the last fight.
Same here! Impossibru to play. pl0x fix.
kbyetnx
There is an option to disable map chat. Problem solved.
Heart of Thorns Act 1 Mastery completion is still bugged for me. It says 17/18 but I still miss “Peer Review” and “My friends, the Smiths”. In case of “Peer Review” I can’t interact with the paper to start the achievement progression and as far as smiths go I can’t find them (not as in I can’t find them on the map but I can’t even find the first NPC that starts it).
5K? I never saw the viewer count go over 2.5-2.8K during viewer spikes. Is GW2 ESL streamed elsewhere aside Twitch?
A lot of people complained about lag today, myself included so I guess they let the Asura tech krewe near the servers again and they got stuck into a debate about how to properly configure them for “optimum efficiency”.
I have tryed all kinda gears and builds. Ranged and melee. Always i try do hero points with party champ aggro me(any gears) and only follow me i got swiftness impossible to kite. I tryed tank with soldier gears champ still kill me like instally.
The majority of HPs is simply not meant to be soloed. Increased toughness and vitality combined with some cheesy side-mechanic like AoE is enough for most professions/builds to not be able to solo HP champs. Get someone to help you or simply wait for an HP train.
And while we’re at it, people are complaining about grind. Well, I remember painfully grinding up some faction rep points in Guild Wars 1 to get my PvE only skills up to par. And they weren’t account bound. I had to level those skills up separately on each character. People say masteries are a grind. lol Give me a break.
But you forget one important thing – grinding faction points actually made your track specific skills stronger. It wasn’t just “hey, go grind 13 million XP just so you can mine auric slivers”. Your skill were actually more useful with every progressing tier. Remember Domain of Anguish and how important it was to have a high Lightbringer title track? GW1 actually made sense in terms of “mastery” progression – something I honestly can’t say about HoT.
To be honest most pocket raptor groups can easily be avoided, either by gliding or simply taking care about distance from them.
Just convert the server based system to a Megaserver and spread all the people according to their order allegiance: Order of Whispers, Vigil and Durmand Priory. Make the final result represent an aggregate score of all instances. Problem solved. No more queues and no more empty maps.
The actual problem with taxiing now is that people lie in their LFG advertisements just to lure others into doing the event in their instance. For example, there are a ton of messages on LFG claiming to have an organized group with commanders for Tarir or Tangled Depths yet when people join they find a half empty map with no one willing to tag up.
Just leave the entrance where it is but instead make it lead to a separate lobby instance where people can do the same thing they now do in Verdant Brink – AFK.
I won’t go further into debate about my original post but I have to comment on this since it’s so often used as an argument here.
Map completion in the original game, originally had WvW, which was something you couldn’t do when you wanted. I remember waiting for weeks to get a single point of interest in a single tower, because we were never the right color.
This is simply not true because for the first year or so everyone was able to simply switch the server for free and get map completion in WvWvW. You only had to wait a couple of days, later a week, before you were able to switch the server again. The important thing however was you could simply forget about WvWvW if you were not into it until it was time for you to change the server again. Here, you have to constantly camp the events and hope that everything goes fine to get what you need. It’s absolutely not comparable in regards to how much energy and time you have to invest for getting the same result.
It’s called map completion, not event completion.
I’ve just spent three hours trying to get the Bramble Plateau PoI in Auric Basin and every time I’d end up either missing the window during which the vines are not blocking the way or simply on a map which doesn’t have enough people to push the event before Tarir meta event starts.
Do you know how stressful it is to chase maps and events just to get map completion? It’s even worse for people like me which have many alts. That’s plain disrespect of player’s free time. I am sick of it. Everything is on a clock now. Feels like having a second job. I don’t complain about the meta events. If i want to do them I understand the time investment I have to make (and I often do). But map completion? It’s something I always did to cool of my head after work or simply rest for an hour or two. This… I have no words. Completely wasted time.
It’s actually easier to do the personal story and get 40 crystalline ore per completion. Given that you unlock the masteries that block progression first, of course.
Switch from zerker armor to PVT. Most people will probably say it’s stupid but I tell you, just try it out. You will gain a huge amount of vitality and toughness but your primary attribute, power, will still remain pretty high. What you lose on precision and ferocity you’ll compensate by using maintenance oil (adds precision based on toughness and vitality which you’ll have plenty with PVT) and ruby orbs or some offensive runes like Scholar. Additionally use “For Great Justice”, Signet of Fury (adds to precision), Signet of Might (adds to power) and Signet of Rage (useful for swiftness and fury). Always trait for “Warrior’s sprint” and use a greatsword which will allow you to escape mobs which use immobilize and do huge damage with traits from the Strength line.
In any case just try it. PVT will greatly increase your survivability while still allowing you to trait for great damage. You can also consider Knight’s armor which works even greater with maintenance oil however PVT is actually a better choice imho for HoT soloing on warrior.
After playing the expansion since release I’ve come to the conclusion that it feels like a collection of four large open world raids. I’ve completed the maps (all except Dragon’s stand) on all nine professions, did Tarir countless times (commanded south since the first days when people didn’t know what to do), helped on countless occasions during the Tangled depths meta event but I still have a feeling like I am not important as an individual player. It all comes down to the question if you have the zerg (or zergs) to do the event or not. It is virtually impossible to fail a HoT meta event if you have enough people on the map which know how to at least press #1.
However what really struck me was the nerf that was done to the dungeons. I am (or at least was) a really avid dungeon player. I’ve done every dungeon path at least 50-100 times and found myself lately teaching beginners how to play them. The gold and tokens (the amount before the nerf) were just enough to make it worthwhile for all of us. Now not only is it not worthwhile anymore but the dungeon LFG is actually completely empty most of the time. I don’t like fractals (never actually liked them) so making them more attractive by killing off dungeons is in my opinion a really bad way to do it.
The elite specializations are interesting. Some actually made me finish off map completion on professions I didn’t like before (most notably guardian with Dragonhunter). But the elite specializations weren’t made equally interesting for all professions so my main’s Berserker feels way underwhelming compared to lets say Dragonhunter, Herald, Reaper etc.
they should just let ppl choose the instance like Aion did. U get 1-9 instances to pick and hop around till u find one u like.
The original Guild Wars has that festure but obviously for the sequel ANet knew “better”. It took them two years to actually drop the idea of having separate maps for every server and get back to something that looks like the system used in GW1, although it still doesn’t allow people to choose manually in which instance they are going to land (a feature available in the original game).
Never thought I’d say this but thieves are currently somewhere at the bottom of the food chain. Daredevil is not that great, standard thief builds feel way to lackluster compared to lets say revenenat which can do a lot of things thief can (aside stealth) and still provide great sustain. In PvE currently (specifically HoT) thief actually struggles. If you play something tankier then you have no purpose and solo roaming takes forever. If you go zerky chances are you are going to get one-shotted every time a Morderm even farts in your direction. So I’d have to say thieves are in a pretty tough spot now.
CoF P1 would be the equivalent of paying for a single player game cheat. Everything you acquire this way doesn’t impact anyone else but you. If someone has the nerves to gain XP this way and it doesn’t affect anybody else, why not.
How are people beating Tangled Depths Meta?

This event will see more successful runs on average when the population learns what it needs to do and how to contribute. The same thing happened with Tarir. In the beginning there were very little people which knew how to properly contribute, a lot of them were wasting armors etc. But in the last couple of days it is almost impossible to fail the event if there is enough people on the map and I’ve seen more and more people which know what to do.
So, just give it time.
Beigarth is not in the cave and the first page for “Peer Review” can’t be activated and is only visible when I come closer (practically stand over it). I’ve already finished the campaign once so I fulfill all the prerequisites.
Please change the sound of that weapon to something that wont kitten off people wearing headphones. The new content forces people into grouping and there are no words to describe how it feels when you have to listen to that annoying sound during the whole event chain. Even worse, last night I had a guy following me the whole nightfall cycle in Verdant Brink on purpose just because I commented how annoying it is.
Running around looking for a bucket, doesn’t entitle you to a win on the event.
The participation system is currently outright broken. I can’t count how many times I’ve participated in the patriarch event and every time I died for whatever reason and needed to respawn at the waypoint I am suddenly “removed”. It doesn’t matter that I’ve thrown at least a dozen eggs at the boss and contributed to at least 1/10th of total damage done. I am still “removed”.
And don’t get me started with the smaller events. I.e. if I decide to defend other people near the Itzl village during the egg planting phase I should not be punished for simply choosing to contribute by clearing the path from the enemies. But I do get punished just because I haven’t planted a single egg (the ten / twenty veterans I’ve killed in the meantime obviously don’t count).
(edited by holodoc.5748)
It’s the Canopy over Pact Encampment mastery point. The jumping puzzle allows (or at least should allow) players to exit the giant floating construction and use updraft to return to the start of the jumping puzzle however many of these “exits” don’t actually allow players to exit which result in being completely stuck in one of those pockets. Considering the JP is accessible only until daybreak its extremely annoying.
Is the huge amount of “pockets” from which there is no escape a design choice or simply lack of testing? Do you know how many people saw an opening in one of these pockets, then jumped down just to realize they can’t go through the opening to start the puzzle all over again?
And the camera. Don’t get me started again on the camera. Why do you insist on creating new closed space jumping puzzles when you (probably) know how bad the camera is in narrow passages. It’s impossible to see anything on my characters, especially Norn and Charr.
The only thing I had issues with were the wings failing to open during the gliding phase which effectively made me die too many times. The wings simply fail to open even if trying to deploy them directly over the updraft and while running from that elevated plateau on one side of the arena. Some players however do manage to open them, others do not. The interesting part is I managed to open the wings three times in a row today by doing the exact same thing I did last night. Don’t know if a patch fixed the issue or what.
To be honest as far as story goes almost nothing in HoT made sense to me. The first sign that something was about to go the wrong way was..
…killing off Eir o.O Why? Just to reinstate that brain dead son of hers as heir to the Stegalkin legacy in the game? It really bothers me that the writers decided to get rid of such a powerful figure which represented everything Jora was to many players in the original game. Can’t we have one powerful female figure in the game that doesn’t end as a disposable placeholder for writers (and this comes from a male player)?
As far asTrehearne goes I don’t know. I kind of liked what his character was supposed to represent but ultimately what I think happened is that the popular opinion of the community made ANet kill him off. Either way I still think it was a waste of a character which had such huge development potential.
In any case I essentially can’t forgive the writers for leaving such bitter taste after completing HoT. It started off nicely, went over some pretty questionable decisions and ended abruptly when it just started to feel as if the story started to develop.
I am also experiencing problems with facets on my revenant. By far the most annoying is randomly losing swiftness from Facets of Elements. The problem is not tied to energy management because I can activate it out of combat with 50% energy reserves and all too often I’d find the facet deactivated just a second or two after that.
Additionally I am also experiencing inconsistent behavior of the facets when using waypoints because in some cases they will stay activated however in others they will immediately get deactivated after using the waypoint (it happens both while rezoning or just using waypoints on the same map).
I have to emphasize once again, none of the above problems are tied to lack of energy.
I’d pay real money to see what kind of automatic testing workflow/software is used for GW2.
I am talking from a standpoint of someone who mains warrior and has a pretty decent amount of hours spent playing as a ranger.
In the current state pew pew ranger simply has nothing on warrior. As a matter of fact it’s harder to play pew pew now than it was before the patch. Rampage traitted with Physical Training will absolutely destroy anything let alone a pew pew which is usually run in a survival variant (lots of condi cleanse, no counter for power damage except Signet of Stone). In fact as a warrior I don’t even like the fact that Rampage became another nuke skill like Lich form.
To be honest with the amount of stuff that rubs me the wrong way in this meta I am actually considering to drop the pew pew altogether.
The problem is that technically that character can use it, as any character can level all 8 professions. You merely have a couple active at a time and pay a small fee to switch.
Yeah, I can use it, except if I switch to the crafting profession that can use it I have to level it up to 400 again. Recipes should be only consumable if the currently active profession(s) can use them.
I am really sick of you ANet for being so lazy that three years after release you still can’t or won’t implement some basic quality of life stuff. You know, like preventing my armorsmith/weaponsmith character from accidentally consuming a 450 geodes recipe which can be only used by a huntsman! Would it be so hard to prevent a character from consuming a recipe if he/she can’t use it?
What will it take for some of you to actually play the game you made? Guild Wars 3? Sheesh….
I don’t really play engi, but what I understand from this thread is the fact you just use a trait to get that high damage. How is that an exploit?
The same way ANet banned people for using the karma exploit when game launched. Basically anything that looks to good to be true is an exploit and if ANet is consistent with their TOS people exploiting this should get a temporary ban.
Solution – play power ranger (a proper one with zerk amulet, not the new marauder one) with the Quick draw trait (for Rapid fire) and pew pew the mesmer from a safe distance! I actually love mesmers in this meta. Provided that I don’t get careless and find myself too close to one, but hey… That would be my mistake
Arena net already knows people want builds, you did not have to make another pointless thread stating the obvious. Builds will not be in the game until a long time after HOT. Finally, get over the fact that this isn’t guild wars 1 and also avoid telling sob stories.
Oh well, it’s only the third year after game release. By the time Guild Wars 3: Revenge of the Mermaid DLC gets released I am sure we will get build templates.
It’s not bread you ate, but a lifetime bread subscription that you got and paid for three years ago.
Except now, the same company that brought you bread now has BreadPlus, which is way tastier and more nutritious than regular bread – with free peanut butter and jelly. Regular bread will no longer be sold to new bread eaters (although your current lifetime subscription will still be good and the recipe will be tweaked a bit).
Now, your friend (who never liked bread, but is interested in BreadPlus) is willing to buy a lifetime subscription to BreadPlus. You are considering upgrading to eating BreadPlus, but then you find out that the upgrade cost is exactly the same as your friend’s subscription cost. Even though you already paid the full subscription cost for your lifetime supply of bread three years ago.
This means that if you upgrade, the “lifetime supply of bread” you paid for only gave you three years of bread, and no discount on BreadPlus.
You sure you ain’t related to an Asura? You sure sound like one.
GW2 released with five character slots and eight professions.
Your own opening post says you paid for three additional slots, presumably without a care or a million-thread forum kerfuffle.
A slot costs ten bucks. Skip a Big Mac combo one day and play your Revenant for years to come. I really don’t see what the giant deal is over the slots thing is. There’s other things to be bothered about. And a million threads in which to be bothered.
Imagine eating a Big Mac and then ordering another one. They bring you everything except the buns. When you ask where are the buns you get told that they are not included after your first order so you have to reuse the ones that came with your previous Big Mac. Where is the logic in that?
Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: holodoc.5748
Is the additional character slot really worth almost the same as the Standard version of the HoT expansion? I mean, all the useless digital stuff aside, is additional 30€ really what you want to charge for something that costs 10€ (800 gems) in your own Gem shop?
It also boggles my mind how anyone with marketing experience could decide to make such a discriminating decision towards the old players that probably have all of their characters slots used up. I mean the original GW1 expansions came all with an additional character slot for every new profession that got introduced. How hard was it to just say, here 50€ for the standard version including a “free” character slot.
I am not questioning the pricing politics just how badly it sounds to break from a tradition that got introduced so long ago with the original Guild Wars expansions. Yeah sure, people can just buy a slot from the gem shop but a token of good will would have been much appreciated and actually expected, even by those who understand that nothing is free.
This is a work in progress and the UI for it made it out on accident today. We have corrected that.
**cough** git push --force **cough**
Got unstuck this morning but the problem is since then I can’t join a single unranked or ranked queue. I can join hotjoin no problem but queues for ranked/unranked go up to 20+ minutes during times when average queues are 2-3 minutes.
EDIT: Could we please get this thread joined with this one https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Stuck-in-Temple-of-the-Silent-Storm/first#post5132292? It’s obvious that its the same problem.
Yes, revive a thread 3 months old! 3 months and this hasn’t been solved? Lols, was watching a few twitch streamers who got the stuck in match bug. I’m guessing its a new bug guys, not the same one that occurred 3 months ago
New or old the symptoms are still the same.
It’s not fixed. Just happened to us after a match on ToTSS. We can’t leave. Problem is we didn’t bring supplies for camping. Could easily happen we starve to death (sad quaggan).
