It would help if we can figure out what is in common between everyone since no machines in-house reproduce this issue.
Pressing “B” maybe?
No. They should add more maps and not remove the “new” ones. They should go ahead and let all the maps available in ranked queue too.
Yeah right. We all know how Skyhammer and Spirit watch were popular in ranked.
(edited by holodoc.5748)
I know sPvP desperately lacks players and moving Courtyard to separate queue would probably mean nobody would play it but having trolls all the time winning a 1:9 vote in in favor of this map is ridiculous.
Move it to a separate queue, do whatever you want just don’t mix modes anymore. Find another way to increase numbers of available players in sPvP.
Whats interesting tho is that some of these teams are on mixed classes upon joining, and when theres little time left before the match starts, they swap to their engis. Ive faced one of the teams listed in screen here and they did this tactic, so that we werent able to react in time to swap builds/weps (though “we” were pugs).
That’s exactly what these groups do. They join as mixed professions and then just before the match starts they all switch to turret engineers.
You were on turret engi for multiple hours yesterday, queueing ranked. Here you said you were on it because of a mistake during rerolling. That’s not true. Hence a lie.
Stating facts is rude? I never called you a liar though so read harder! Also I deeply regret not having a screenshot of when you started thrash talking your team that they don’t rotate properly while you camped the node with your npcs. Hilarious as well.
What on Earth are you talking about!? That was the first match with my engi in months and it was that way only because I made a mistake while rerolling. I main a warrior and tend to switch to ele from time to time. I don’t know what you saw but it was definitely not me. And honestly I don’t care.
The reason why I am playing a turret engi on that shot is because I made a mistake during rerolling and ended up with a character I was last playing six months ago.
This is extremely hilarious.
First of all you are obviously lying. Unless you made that “mistake” for a few hours of perpetual turret engineer play. Throwing my games too.
Don’t know if someone told you this but calling people liars is rude.
I am done with these forums.
how would this work in practice? you que with three warriors in a party- then what? one of you is forced to swap class, but which one? and how? is there a message in game? will the game not start if you won’t swap?
i can’t see a practical way to do this to be honest. also there is the problem of people being forced to play classes they can’t play. if i was forced off my two main classes i would just quit the match tbh, it’s not fun having my kitten handed to me and loosing just because i’ve been forced to play a class i’m bad at.
You simply reroll or get transferred to another queue.
when? before the match starts? before the queue finishes? and if it’s the three warrior party (one shout, one hambow, one zerk GS) do they get split up?
also, what if you just swap classes mid game?
ANet just needs to separate solo queue from premades. If you want a premade with five engis against another premade then be my guest. Just don’t allow this kind of stuff (even worse, a premade) in solo queues. Problem solved.

One of those engis made a decent point. What’s more powerful than you complaining about this is playing engi and getting five more to complain about it.
The reason why I am playing a turret engi on that shot is because I made a mistake during rerolling and ended up with a character I was last playing six months ago. If I wanted to conceal that fact trust me, I would.
I personally have nothing against turret engis if their number doesn’t exceed two per team. Anything above that is just plain ridiculous and impossible to counter with a team of random pugs which queued for solo. The same goes for any build rating high in current meta. People are now actively abusing the fact that you can make a premade full of annoying meta builds and ruin the fun for everyone.
Those guys look familiar
What exactly do you expect now? An applause for you and your kitten team?
(edited by holodoc.5748)
I am bumping this thread once again. There are teams now in ranked which are actively abusing the fact that you can stack five turret engineers and basically faceroll the game. Anyone can imagine how much kitten there is on a cap point with four turrets per engineer?
For me personally its incredibly fun to play glass staff ele in WvWvW. Yes you do have to accept the fact that if you are not careful you will die more easily but boy… That feeling when you pour down a Meteor Shower on a 30+ man golem zerg trying to take down keep inner, then you follow with frost bow and fiery GS, with interchangeably putting down fire fields and arcane blasts on the zerg… Priceless.
Many WvWvW staff eles like to take cantrips to escape when things get rough (sometime even two of them like “Lightning flash” and “Mist Form” ) and go full PVT/Celestial at the same time. I consider that to be a complete waste of huge ele DPS potential. Yes fields are nice but still what use of an ele if he/she is only good for laying down fields and no DPS?
EDIT: I just saw now that you are asking for a roaming build. In that case scrap my remark, you won’t do that much as a staff ele roamer (unless in group of two or more). You are far better of with D/D or S/D but still with offensive stats in mind. It can be pretty hard do master D/D for example but its very rewarding after that.
(edited by holodoc.5748)
I play all eight professions and consider myself to be pretty competent sPvP player (except as a thief, I suck at it big time). Engi is probably my second favorite profession after warrior, which is my main.
Last night I was playing as turret engi in unranked Temple. At one point I was alone at mid and facing a warrior 1 vs 1. Mind you that I main warrior so I know every possible strategy that profession can use. My turrets were all positioned as they were supposed to yet this warrior managed to own me two times in a row. Do you know why? Because he was playing smart. He was not rushing like a fool in a middle of the cap point. Instead he was using Longbow from far away to clean my turrets and hide behind pillars when my turrets began an overcharge attack. When he saw me come closer he knew to use immobilize to prevent me from using KB on him.
That’s the exact moment (one of many actually) when I realized how useless turret engis can be if you face people which know how to play against them. You are solely relying on AI and overcharges which can be easily avoided if you pay attention. Not only that but if you use a rifle there are basically only two useful skills on it (net and KB) which have a long enough CD to be useless in team fights.
That being said, the conquest mode is the only reason why turret engis might feel OP. It literally tells people to do the exact opposite they are supposed to do against turret engis – rush toward the turrets. Once you learn NOT to do that you are pretty much good against any turret engi.
You can leave whenever you want. Esc → Exit to desktop.
Is this the typical solo queue experience?
It is the typical overall experience. There are absolutely no mechanisms which prevent beginners from entering ranked/unranked arenas.
For sPvP you currently have two options: find a team and play exclusively as part of premades or simply quit the game.
Something happened to ranked queue times. I find myself more and more heading to unranked arenas because they require at most 1-2m for a match to start. Ranked however can easily go up to 4-5min now.
i disagree, let the people run what they want to run. If people want to do dailies let them. If your there to pvp, fight and win vs anyone.
For premades you might be right, for solo players absolutely not. Solo players typically stick with one profession and good luck trying to convince them to switch before match.
There are eight professions in the game, number nine on its way. That means even with a one profession per team restriction it would still be possible to switch to one of the four professions which are not part of the initial team setup. No more double hambows per node or camping turret engis which can hold a full-capped node until tomorrow.
Bump. This is still a major problem. Just had a match with SIX necros on both sides. At least add a maximum of two players per profession per team. Even worse, the profession dailies are now promoting this kind of stacking.
Dailies need to disappear from sPvP.
But that will make the pvers happy!
I do a lot of PvE too and I still think adding dailies to sPvP has to be one of the worst ideas ever.
Dailies need to disappear from sPvP.
Sometimes new players need the F words to start listening. I know I heard my share of profanity in my early days. Think of it as getting advice from your drill sergeant. He might be a giant kitten but some useful advice comes out of his mouth from time to time. Not all cursing is undeserved.
Yeah, I’ve gotten good advice from rude people before, albeit rarely. There’s just as much bad advice from the jerks in PvP, imo. This is a game though, not the military. I think all cursing is undeserved. We’re here to have fun. Being cursed at while training to defend a nation isn’t even comparable.
Its part of interacting with other people. No ToS or any other kind of rules will ever be able to prevent people acting…Well… Like they usually act. If someone has a short fuse there is nothing you can do about it. If it annoys someone too much there is the block function. Problem solved (the easier way).
Maybe they just tried to give you constructive criticism and you denied being helped?
How is calling someone F word and cursing you ‘’constructive criticism’’ ???

It actually is fixed. We got the ready check, meaning, that if there are not 10 people ready to play, the match will not happen.
Then you haven’t played sPvP recently. Not only do matches start 4vs5 but they will also start if there are folks that haven’t clicked the “I am ready” button. I don’t even know what good is that button anyway.
And btw. the Dishonor system is currently not active so “repercussion” is a moot point.
(edited by holodoc.5748)
I still don’t get it why this is not fixed? Why is a ranked game allowed to start with an incomplete team?
PVP is competitive, in what sport is the game completely fair? Seriously the same 4 guys win tennis every tourney, basketball has been dominated by 5 teams in the last 15 years. There is thousands of smucks playing this game and for some reason you come on here asking for a hand out when you can see they have a great system in place and is trying to get better.
So what you are saying is that sPvP was designed for “smucks” in the last two years?
This.
In GW1 people could solo the lord… and that was 8v8 so 1 person is a smaller percentage of the team than in a 5v5.
But with eight players per team you also had a much higher terrain coverage compared to just five. It was way easier to spot if someone was actually heading for your Priest.
People hate rangers for one simple reason – they can have pets. No other profession can tag along a cute honey-bunny colored in pink and named “Fluffy – Destroyer of Worlds”.
Should be put back into Ranked Que.
Hell no. Took months to take it out of ranked queue. The map itself is interesting but its also too easy to exploit by certain builds.
The thing with turret engis is once you clean up their turrets they are defenseless. I used to avoid playing engis thinking they were cheap as AIDS, but eventually tried the profession out and found out that its incredibly easy to catch the little buggers of guard by simply destroying their turrets and keeping distance between you and them. Distance is required because turret engis usually make use of a rifile and spam the KB+imobilize combo to push you out of the cap point which is just enough for theturrets to do another cycle.
Every single game is horrible
Keep getting unfairgames vs 3/5 manI’m not 100% sure what you’re referencing here. Are you being stacked against pre-mades, or are people on your team leaving?
Looked up your game history for the last week and you’ve had 5 out of 67 games that had the pre-mades stacked against you.

Excuse me but how exactly can you distinguish between PUGs and premades based only on logs and game statistics?
Premade with Teamspeak support and a well made professional cohesion against PUGs. Tell me please how is that even remotely supposed to be a fair match?
If you want your queue to be fair then there either needs to be a clear distinction between solo players and premades or you need to implement some kind of voice chat support which will be available in the game. I have nothing against Teamspeak but its a system which is simply not usable in GW2 for solo sPvP because of the need toexchange and setup servers for every game.
Arenanet is not Blizzard who is the only company that has the resources to add a new class and a new race and a new area for it and new skills and new stories and another area besides that in one expansion. It sucks but when you are small you do small things.
As a matter of fact ANet was not only capable of adding new zones to the game but it used to be able to add whole new continents with every GW1 expansion. Elona and Cantha were huge while still providing access to a bunch of new skills, two new professions for every campaign (four in total), vast number of new PvP modes (Fort Aspenwood) and elite dungeons etc. etc.
So you see ANet used to be way above everything Blizzard ever did. What happened, well… I don’t think that’s something we will ever find out.
It is also stated in various places that OpenGL is easier to code.
Coding in OpenGL is a nightmare compared to modern DirectX. OpenGL is just a standard implemented by various vendors which makes it incredibly fragmented. On the other hand DirectX is a complete framework centralized and completely governed by one company which makes it far more unified than any other solution in gaming industry. Not to mention it comes with support for far more things than just graphics (D3D). If OpenGL wants to join the race it needs to provide far better development experience and convince the gaming industry its worth their time.
All the expansions/campaigns from GW1 included additional two slots per expansion/campaign (one for each new profession) so its reasonable to expect an additional free slot for the revenant profession once it gets released.
Essentially… Mounts… In this case you just mount… Well, you know… Yourself.
EotM is pretty much a character incubator, yes. I actually have only one problem with it, the insane amount of badges you get for brainlessly zerging the map. You get 30 badges of honor on average for a single keep which is something people can just hope to get while playing on regular borderlands for hours (not counting rank chests which are also given in EotM).
There are mace/sword and axe/sword variants to the defense/discipline theme, there is also an axe/warhorn build recently made popular by rom as well as a greatsword/longbow build occasionally seen around (although imo gs is not quite there yet).
Why would anyone want to use GS/longbow combo? Those weapons do not synergize at all. If you rely on longbow then it means you are probably wasting trait points on something like “Cleansing Ire” instead on going offensive. There is absolutely no reason to use GS with defensive builds. Yes GS is an excellent gap closer for warrios but what do you do when you reach your target? Ask him/her nicely to drop dead?
btw i think i forgot to mention sword/shield + greatsword wvwvw builds, every now and then you see them used around.
For roaming maybe but you will have a really hard time finding a warrior in WvWvW which uses a shield. In zergs its useless because standard warrior support builds usually consist of sword/warhorn + hammer or GS+hammer. For roaming people usually choose warrior condition builds because its not unusual to fight a 2vs1 against enemy camp flippers. In those cases an off-hand sword or even mace are far more useful weapons than shield.
I will play what I like and what feels right in my hands. And I believe that’s what OP is actually asking for.
No. OP asked how to get a better warrior, not how to have fun while playing warrior.
I mean, I love playing a wierd thief build I came up with, but I’m totally not bringing that on a TeamQ match because I know that even if I wouldn’t be useless, I’d still be less useful than a thief skilled just like me but using a proper build. No matter how good I am.
Being good doesn’t only mean being able to kill things 1v1 or to be useful in teamfights, being good means also being the best at what you’re supposed to do, as a class.
So what you are saying is you can only become a “better” warrior if you play one of the faceroll builds? Then why isn’t everyone playing hambows? Why waste time with any other build and risk being “inefficient”? Hell, why does the warrior even need any other weapon aside from hammer/longbow combo? Remove them all and make room for the “hambow” master race!
Vayne, all your logic aside, but for the past two years you’ve made so many assumptions about how ANet thinks that someone might think you are actually working for them.
Hot join should not award rank points. What logic is there to award rank points for a game mode which has so many non-competitive characteristics and a spectator mode exploit on top of that?
1. Does the lag only happen while you’re in a PvP map? Does it also occur in the PvP lobby? Other maps?
Never noticed it in lobby, however I rarely move there unless testing stuff on golems.
2. How long does the lag spike last? Does it ever clear up?
It started a couple of months ago with huge 20-30s+ timeouts. Now it happens 5-10s tops. Sometimes it does clear up but there were times I couldn’t do anything until the rest of the match and everyone around me would appear as just standing.
3. Of your last 5 GW2 play sessions, in how many of them did you experience lag?
Last night, I’d say 2/5 sessions had 5+s timeouts.
4. Are there specific times of day when do or you don’t experience lag?
It appears to be random though it seems like I experience more timeouts at night (9PM-2AM GMT+1). However it could be due to the fact that I mostly play during those hours.
5. When do you remember first experiencing lag of this severity in GW2?
Couple of months ago. After the last big sPvP patch.
6. Do you also experience lag playing other games? NCsoft games like Wildstar?
Wild whot? I only play GW2 and the original GW1. I have to admit I’ve noticed timeouts and lag in GW1 too. Don’t know if the “automated” status of GW1 has to do something with that.
7. Do you live in NA or EU?
EU.
8. Are you playing on NA or EU servers?
Both NA and EU (multiple accounts).
9. Was your account ORIGINALLY created on NA or EU?
EU.
Sorry, but i don’t think OP is asking to be a hotjoin hero, or a wvw “pro”.
He is also not asking for completely wrong info about warriors.
Everything I said works perfectly fine in ranked as well as in hot join.
Non of i said is wrong, i have at least 20 x more tpvp warrior experience than you.
and i’ve played GS war forever and tried anyway to make it more viable then simple soloq fun build. We are simply not on the same level, what you said only applies to your level of play. While OP is definitely not asking for this. or is he.
You might actually want to read the whole topic again. OP is just starting sPvP and wants to learn something, not just copy-paste faceroll meta builds. No one becomes better by starting off with “cheese”. He didn’t even say he wants to play tPvP. Not to mention that tPvP is not the best place for newcomers.
As for the rest, lets keep the “i am so pro” stuff out of discussion. That’s how children “discuss”. You might not like GS for sPvP but it doesn’t mean there aren’t people out there that actually like it and can make good use of it. I often play all three modes of sPvP with GS/mace+shield. Do I get owned sometimes? Yes I do. Does it mean I will switch to a lame build just to appear on some stupid “Leaderboard” which every “pro” thinks so highly off? No I won’t. I will play what I like and what feels right in my hands. And I believe that’s what OP is actually asking for.

… AND NOW THE CONCLUSSION.
As for the skills themselves, there is so much more to viable combinations than just going for the usual warrior meta. “Berserkers stance” is somewhat of a necessity, that’s true, but the rest can be so easily combined to get some very interesting combinations.
Now hold your breath because I think a lot of people will find it hard to believe what I am about to say – “Cleansing Ire” / Longbow is not required to play a warrior effectively. There are so many ways to deal with conditions on warrior without “Cleansing Ire”, one of the most useful being is not getting conditions on yourself in the first place. If you play a glass stun/burst warrior its ridiculous to waste the second weapon slot just for condition removal when you could be using that second slot to quickly kill enemies.
Thank you for this well thought out response with detailed explanations. This was the type of answer I was hoping to get. I now understand why my weapons were sub par. I will try the GS/ Mace-Sword you suggested, as you said I would rather not go the hambow route. Are there any well known trait guides for GS/Mace-Sword or axe+sword/mace+shield or are the ones currently on enterthemists fine to use?
Thanks again
To be honest I rarely visit those “build” web sites because they often limit you in the way you think about how to play a specific profession. They usually say “this stuff works” and make you forget about the most important thing in sPvP – experiment yourself.
As for GS/mace-sword, its a great build for quickly dealing with enemies. You can build it to be extremely offensive (Strength runes, Berserker amulet) but do take note it takes some time to learn how to play it because its an extremely high risk/high reward gameplay type. Additionally you might want to rethink about using shield instead of sword because it offers an extra stun and blocking which can come in handy.
Here is a simple proposal how you can build your GS/mace+sword build.
You go 6/4/0/04 in your traits, “Dual wielding”, “Slashing power” and “Berserker’s Power” in “Strength”, “Rending Strikes” and “Forceful Greatsword” in “Arms”, “Warrior’s Sprint” and “Mobile Strikes” in “Discipline”.
You will also use Berserer’s amulet and Stregth runes although if you feel uncomfortable with how much sustain you have you can go for a more defensive amulet (although Berserker is in a very good sweet spot).
For your utility skills you use “Healing signet”, “Endure pain”, “Signet of Stamina”, “Berserker’s stance” and “Signet of Rage” although you can pick anything you like. Do take not you are not using “Cleansing Ire” so your only ways of dealing with conditions will be “Signet of Stamina” and “Berserker’s stance”.
For your sigils, “Sigil of Intelligence” and “Sigil of Air” on GS, “Sigil of Paralyzation” on mace and “Sigil of Battle” or “Sigil of Energy” on sword (or shiled if you decide to run it off hand).
The basic idea behind this build is to use GS for gap-closing and inflicting heavy damage with “Whirlwind attack” and “Hundred blades”. If you ever get in a 1vs1 situation (and you will) you fill up adrenaline for mace burst and use “Pommel bash in between” to make that task easier. When you reach full adrenaline you use “Skullcrack”, you switch weapons and go straight away for “Hundred blades” then “Whirlwind attack” straight through your enemy. Its usually enough to burst down enemies, especially squishies. If not you continue with “Bladetrail” and auto attack. If for some reason your enemy had invulnerability then you switch to other weapon set (that’s why its handy to have shield off hand) and fill up your adrenaline bar for another “Skullcrack” surprise. Don’t hesitate to use “Pommel bash” in between. When things go wrong you have “Endure pain” on your disposal and “Mobile strikes” which will give you enough time to disengage from the fight no matter what happens.
It takes some time to learn how to play this build but once you feel the bloodlust in your veines when you start bursting down enemies its extremely hard to go back to the lame condition builds
A bit lengthy post but I had to write it considering how many myths there are about warriors. One of the most prevailing is that warriors can be played effectively only with builds most people play. You can be an effective warrior if you don’t play hambow, condi etc. You just need to pick up your fights more carefully. The important thing however is you will be enjoying the game because you play it the way you like to play it.

Axe sucks
Shield, OK
Sword is the way to go.Berserker stance

Lets go over all the weapons shall we.
Rifle indeed has to be one of the least favorable warrior weapons in sPvP. It doesn’t offer anything that other weapons can’t do better and the only (partial) viability comes from sniping people with burst (“Killshot”) which a) can often miss and b) has a very long casting time making it extremely easy to dodge/block. The only other useful skill would be “Rifle butt” which performs a knockback on up to three targets (this can be pretty fun sometimes).
Sword can be useful main hand weapon if traited for conditional damage, otherwise its far more useful offhand where it provides Torment damage and one block. It can also be very useful for mobility (skill #2, “Savage leap”) however GS is a far better choice for that role considering it has two skills which provide excellent mobility on a really low cooldown when the “Forceful greatsword” trait is used (“Whirlwind attack” and “Rush”).
Mace is a anything but useless. It has so many useful skills which are perfect for crowd control. Auto-attack can do awful lot of damage if built for stun/burst gameplay, it has a very useful block (“Counterblow”) and an incredibly fast stun (“Pommel bash”) which is virtually impossible to see. Burst (“Skullcrack”) is one of the most useful mace skills because it provides a rather lengthy stun which when combined with, lets say, Sigil of Paralyzation, provides enough time to switch to alternative weapon and quickly burst down the enemy. As an offhand weapon mace provides a very useful mass knockback (“Tremor”) and a somewhat less useful vulnerability stacking.
Greatsword has to be my favorite weapon for high risk / high reward gameplay. It provides unparalleled mobility for warrior and when built glassy it can often devastate node bunkers which do not expect so much DPS and mobility. “Whirlwind attack” and “Rush” are excellent gap-closers making it very easy for roamers to reach nodes and close in on, lets say, ranged spammers. “Hundred blades” (100B) and “Whirlwind attack” are the two main damage dealers, “Blade trail” is fantastic for slowing down one or multiple targets (or even immobilizing them if the “Leg specialist” trait is used) and “Rush” is your best friend when things start to get messy and you need a fast way to escape. Additionally “Whirlwind attack” and “Rush” can be considered as an additional dodge, especially when combined with “Mobile strikes” which break immobilize. Combine all those with the “Forcefull greatsword” and “Signet of Stamina” and you get yourself one hell of a warrior troll with a devastating firepower. Risky, its true, but incredibly rewarding when played right
Hammer, one of the most annoying warrior weapons. Prime example of warrior’s contribution to the vast selection of GW2 cheesy builds. Can spam nodes all day long and still have incredible sustain. Its basically a F1, #3, #4, #5 skill spam fest but very effective especially when stun duration increase traits/sigils are used. Not much to add here.
Axe, used primarily for Eviscerate quick-burst builds. You build up adrenaline with your other weapon set, then you switch back and burst making use of usually “Sigil of Intelligence” and other damage boosters. Only skill worth mentioning on axe main hand aside from burst is probably “Throw axe” which can also be combined with “Leg specialist” to make it more useful. As an off hand weapon axe is not that much useful because “Whirling axe” although having decent power in sPvP can be easily avoided.
Warhorn doesn’t have that much use in sPvP. It can be used for cleansing conditions and swiftness but there are rarely occasions where the full potential of warhorn would be used for that. Warhorn as an sPvP weapon for warrior really is a bad pick, no matter how you use it.
Shield is a very good defensive weapon. Provides an accessible way of interrupting enemies and a reliable block which can be used together with “Missile Defelection” trait to quickly kill pew-pew spammers. Its also fun to watch downed enemies kill themselves when reflecting projectiles with shield.
TO BE CONTINUED…
Weapon sets need to have good synergy meaning they actually need to compliment each other. In other words if one of your weapon sets is meant to enhance mobility (GS, sword main hand etc.) your other set needs to do something else like condition cleanse, defense etc.
Additionally your weapons need to aim for the same damage type. Although its acceptable to mix weapons for power and conditional damage its almost always preferred to maximize one type of damage. GS/sword + shield is weak on that point because GS is exclusively making use of direct damage yet your other weapon set has sword main hand which is almost exclusively a condition damage weapon (mostly through bleeding).
Axe+axe/axe+shield is also somewhat problematic because axe is mainly a direct damage (power) weapon which is almost exclusively used for quick bursts (Eviscerate) when equipped in main hand. Now if you go for that kind of build its almost imperative to have an adrenaline building / conditions cleansing weapon in your other hand which will make sure you don’t have blinds on yourself when switching to your axe main hand and bursting (otherwise you lose adrenaline and your sigil, usually Sigil of Intelligence wont proc). That’s why majority of warriors use longbow in their other weapon set. As an offhand weapon axe is pretty sub-par in sPvP.
So basically sword main hand and axe off hand are combinations you want to avoid on warrior. If you insist on melee weapons and want to avoid cheese like hambow etc. you could go for GS/mace+sword (you stun with mace then quickly burst with GS, sword for additional Torment condi damage), axe+sword/mace+shield (axe for building adrenaline, sword for Torment condi damage, mace for stun and shield for defense, preferably with “Missile deflection” trait because of the annoying pew-pew rangers) etc.
The basic rule however is you need to try out yourself what’s viable for you. However meta or no meta there are still some facts about warrior builds which are viable and capable of sustaining you long enough in the game to learn something. Sure, you could go for a rifle Killshot build, but anyone who spent at least a couple of hours in sPvP will know how to dodge the attack you are relying your whole build on and make it unusable. And that is probably not falling into any ones definition of “fun”.

But is it really so hard to admit that the ranger out positioned you?
What’s exactly to “position” in a conquest based game? Its not like an FFA mode where you can do 1vs1 all day long. Here you either cap the point or lose. Try to knock down a ranger on Temple which is standing in one of the torches on mid. If you play warrior you can only go all the way up the stairs and jump down on him from behind. Good luck with his low PBS CD and pew-pew mode.
That much damage from that far and at that speed is the problem.
They can’t retain all of that
That much damage from that far and at that speed with blocking, evading, immunity, reflecting, adsorbing is a problem. How?
Its not a problem if you play a lame bunkerish build or a trollish profession like thieves or mesmers (thieves can easily evade, mesmers offer tons of alternative targets). But, if you play anything more offensive than that or even worse go full melee then you are in trouble because a single ranger will pick you off in a matter of 10s, no matter how much evades, blocks or reflects you use.
I main warrior and avoid the lame builds like hammer, condi etc. With 3700 toughness, a shield and Signet of Stamina I can’t possibly survive a ranger spamming from a safe 1200 distance. Warrior’s reflects are simply not enough like in the case of guardians or mesmers. Like that is not enough, they also got an insane low CD on PBS (Point Blank Shot) which can successfully KB enemies from 1200 range every 12-15s (+5% damage increase with “Eagle eye” on top of that).
I get it, rangers are exited that the current meta provides them with a way to make easy kills. But someone should really take a moment and rethink if giving so much reward for such a low level of risk is reasonable.
Fun fact, actually. P/P thief using unload twice has better DPS and burst than RF ranger in the same exact time frame, and provides a team with more CC and overall utility.
Yes but he has to come in melee range and therefore has a much more balanced risk/reward ratio from rangers which can do all that from a (very) safe distance.
PBS can be spammed at 1200 range? News to me…
Yes if you trait Eagle Eye (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eagle_Eye) you get 1200 range for PBS and a 5% damage boost.
