And i dont mean just for gw2. i mean why do game companies have them if they all turn into this after the companies start screwing around or after a game gets released and the dev gets ‘found out’.
they cant be worth the hassle, cant be- right?
yes, i know the stated intended purpose behind them and i know the critical value and perspective they can provide but again, if companies are going to do stuff like this and if the forum pop will turn sour regardless- and hell, even if they stay positive, why have them? from the dev and publisher’s point of view, why bother?
they might get criticized for not having a forum but surely that would be of such little consequence if the game is going well. and if things arent going well, then its just less headache having to deal with this kind of situation, right?
i guess they have them just cuz thats what game devs/publishers do and not much thought is put into the decision to have them or not..
just random thoughts on a thurs..it is thursday right?
oh and how many of the threads that we’ve made today are gonna get shut down tomorrow? its like when the teacher goes to the bathroom or has to step out of the room for a minute. (no, i know, you’re right, we’re like calling out the global pr mods in threads theyve commented on- its gotten so ugly, maybe thats why im wondering about this. is it possible they would just shut ‘general discussion’ or even the entire forum down?)
and yes, i wish i was still playing and that things were gonna be ok… (but no, i dont wish i would have taken the blue pill..)
its hard to remember we’re alive for the last time
i play so slowly i never expect anyone to stick around so i guess ideally i wish all areas would always be challenging, rewarding & soloable regardless of my level. but i guess thats not much of an answer.
its hard to remember we’re alive for the last time
i have lots of time and pve exclusively. could be years before i ever see any of the stuff people have been talking about the past week. but thats all theoretical b/c ive never played a game that long (just started mmos this past summer) and i am struggling mightily to solo the pve content.
ive also uninsalled/reinstalled several times. im also one of the people that got a refund but who ended up just rebuying. that was about 24 hours before the announcement of the ‘ascended’ tier.
mostly i feel like a guinea pig b/c i have so little clue about what this game is actually about, how its done or what it will be if/when i figure it out.

Best game 2012… probably neither, though looking at the potential pool, there really wasn’t a whole lot of good games that came out. I might go with Civ5 frankly, though because it’s not an over-hyped big title, it won’t win.
civ v came out 2 years ago..

Thank You Op.
I agree, I would add that I think there is a general underestimation in the age of the player base as well as intelligence.
There was a thread on this forum about the general age of the GW2 players and it was not 18, with 13 hours a day to play. The people crowing victory on this thread might just pause and consider for a moment that players like you might have gotten your way, but you have ruined a potentially great game and made it just like all the others just because you had to have what you have always had.
In a month you will move on and there will be nothing left.
The people this game was designed for are left out in the cold again.

its $43.50 at green man gaming right now. tell them to split the cost among them and buy a copy. they can all download it and then they can rotate days trying it out on their own.

did they talk at all? the botters are starting to use names more and more now instead of just random strings of letters. but im catching them by the dozen. they appear like people unless you stick with them long enough to see their pattern.
its pretty

only have monsters respawn if someone who hasn’t already killed that mob gets within a certain range (just outside of max draw distance, perhaps).
if you want to farm/grind an area b/c thats your play-style then have mobs respawn after x amount of time regardless if you’ve already cleared that mob or not. perhaps a few minutes.
so mobs would respawn if someone new enters a certain range or after a few minutes regardless of who is in the area and if you’ve already cleared them. but respawning after a couple of seconds in areas where there are only a few players is a weird game mechanic.
but just as kittenuper high respawn rates is the fact that mobs respawn out of thin air. this plus respawning after a few second is way beyond immersion breaking its made the game hard to play for some people. i wish mobs came from somewhere and were doing things instead of hovering or pacing back-n-forth.
im new to mmos and still trying to figure out if this genre is for me. if these things are just intrinsic to the genre and there’s no way around it thats ok and it is what it is.

Customize your own 'instance' (invites, respawn rates, etc.)

Ability to play game in your own instance with a respawn slider for monsters/baddies/neutrals. From ‘do not respawn after killed to ’respawn at normal non-instanced rate’, to avoid abuse. This way we actually feel like we’re killing all the monsters/baddies and getting closer to true completion one kill at a time.
Also have a ‘general population replacement’ effect, with slider. So, the more you clear Tyria of its monsters/enemies, the more regular/indigenous species repopulate that area over time.
Also be able to invite people to your instance the same way we invite people to our stories now. And allow for our instances to persist regardless of us being logged in, kind of like a ‘saved game’. So we could maintain our progress (ie, not seeing respawned mobs). And we could visit our friends’ instances too if we want to do some farming. And have shared/team instances that no one person ‘owns’ but one we could play at any time if we’re one of the members of that instance (ex, ‘Hyde Park Club’s Fall 2012 Run’).
Allow stats for all instances youre a part of to be stored in your profile so you could compare your different experiences through Tyria.
Keep full chat access with those outside of your instance.

regardless of how much animation/logistical work would be required, lets get our list of most wished-for emotes together here and then anet can sort out if any of them are doable, etc.
The two I’d like to see are..
Hugs & holding hands
for emotes/animations like these that require both parties to be in agreement (and to avoid abuse) you could have a small announcement window pop up if someone wants to give you a hug or hold your hand and the recipient could choose to agree/allow or not.
its hard to remember we’re alive for the last time
1) make a ‘forums’ tab option with clickable sub-forums available in the in-game chat to help add life to in-game chat experience. this will bridge gap between off-line and on-line players (ie, when players arent in-game they can still be ‘in-game’, ex. when at work, on their phones, etc.)
the forums here would need to be made ‘live’ probably. but we’re not used to being out of touch in real world so let’s not be unreachable in/out of game. we have real relationships in gw2 just like irl. and tabbing back/forth between browser and gw2 client when we are playing should be solved and streamlined. (the ‘/wiki’ chat command is a great feature that seems to be wanting to head in this direction)
2) make ‘server’ and/or ‘world’ chat option available for those who want it. again to consolidate & re-route social lifeblood of game back into main artery/system. just to help with chat isolation/desolation.
thank you, anet team for this ‘suggestions’ forum and for yalls creation and dedication.

What is going to happen to future new players when the population is settled at level 80 grounds?
Posted by: judeobscure.2537
What about a “Helper” mode that you could click ‘on’ or ‘off’ that would utilize the mini-map.
When you elect to be a ‘Helper’ all the events happening on the map would show in your mini-map. Along with how many players are already at each event (ie, within the event ‘circle’).
Or the ability to make this the default play-style in gameplay options.

or

The last I heard its a 120 minute cycle. 80 minutes of daylight, then 40 mins of nighttime. But that was a few months ago and it wasn’t from an official posting.
Can anyone verify this?
