I don’t think this would be unreasonable:
1. Double gold per match.
2. Double quantity of mob and crafting loot boxes gained from reward tracks (or double the loot gained from each box).
3. Replace 75% of the Tome rewards with mob or crafting boxes, or give us something useful to do with excess Tomes.
4. Replace Shards of Glory as individual rewards with mob or crafting boxes, and add shards to the final reward.
5. Replace transmutation charges as individual rewards with mob or crafting boxes, and add charges to the final reward.
Loot from mob boxes is basically just salvage fodder, so there’s a better solution out there. But this might be a good start.
You’re literally blaming the victim for trying to get away from the perpetrator. No sane teammate would blame the victim for going afk because someone was screaming insults at him.
I’m not blaming you for being insulted, it’s not “your fault” unless you’re intentionally playing badly. But adults own how they react to unpleasant situations, and your reaction is to put the burden of your problems on others.
Yup.
If you play only to relax and can’t endure the occasional insult, a competitive game mode is not for you. I suggest you spend your time roleplaying in Divinity’s Reach.
Sounds terrible.
I know I’m being salty, but this is pretty disappointing to me. Rather than try to accommodate both PvP teams and PvP solo queue players, the community would instead choose to kick teams to the curb.
Removing teamQ is a “solution” that literally nobody asked for, as far as I know. I wouldn’t blame this on the community.
If you have no dope skins cos you’ve been spending your time in the mists, then what good is 540 transmutation charges?
The fact is, most people do both pvp and pve. When you join that queue, currently you’re making a choice to miss out on decent rewards for your gameplay. We don’t even get to fight for prestige. Rank is a joke, titles are a joke, league divisions are a joke, the backpiece is a joke, and the ladder runnoft.
Sure, play pvp cos you enjoy it, but any online game that can’t manage to give its players something else worth playing for is failing.
If we’re basing rewards solely on what a player needs for that game mode, then why do I have so many stacks of Tomes in my bank?
Player base: We’re tired of only bread! Many of us usually prefer rice. We would like the option to choose between rice and bread.
Anet: Hmmm… Potato?
Like all other maps, you have two exits from spawn. But both of them lead to the home node. It becomes kinda pointless whichever exists you take
This is the best feedback in the thread so far. I’d like to add that the secondary exit takes longer to get you to all three nodes from respawn, so essentially there’s only one viable exit.
You should include links for people to watch these things that you’re talking about.
When you’re losing a lot, it really isn’t any fun at all, so I can understand why some players might prefer WvW roaming.
Anyway, how are you guys getting extra info like “longest streak” for the season?
On the league pannel you get the number of win streak or loss streak, depending on which you currently are.
Right, but that’s current streak. People keep listing very specific stats for longest win streak / longest loss streak. I thought maybe there was something you could do with your API or something, but it could be that everyone just keeps better mental notes about that stuff than I do.
The sense of entitlement people have about this achieve is unreal.
Can we just lock pointless threads like this?
Jesus, calm down. It’s just a title.
Man let me tell about these things called Daily Lobbies. They are the sizzness. For real man. All of the advancement with very very little amounts of the autism of normal queues. Go there to get your dailies done.
If you want to legitimately kill players. Sorry to say you only real out looks are WvW roaming or matches in the guild arenas.
Though I understand where you come from, map-specific achievements doesn’t work in hotjoin. Achievement hunters will not be stopped by daily lobbies, and they will afk if map choice is not in their favor.
What kdaddy said is a history process leading up to this mess. Many of those afking players are more achievement hunters than long-lasting pvpers, and with this frequency it is safe to say that you can’t simply replenish pvp players with achievements (something ANet need to understand). Diminishing population is not something that can be changed easily unless those in power stop covering their eyes and look at root of problems.
He was responding to a player lamenting that he had wanted to make more progress on reward tracks but decided to quit pvping. Daily lobbies is actually a good recommendation for that player.
I was on a team full of soloq players and got wiped by a full, 5 player pre-made.
Screenshot or it didn’t happen.
4-man party +1 PUG can be matched against full PUG team.
5-man party can be matched against as little as 2-man party +3 PUGs.
But, as bad as it is to mix soloQ and teamQ, you’ll never see 5-man vs full PUG. If you do, submit a bug report, cos it’s unintended.

ok in the end, technically it was every players own fault for not finishing
most just had the bad luck of not noticing that these were timelimitedBUT
Anet can learn from this and do the following things right for the future
- Dont overlap 2 time-limited Achievements like these which are competing with each other when people try to complete them both
- please show clearly ingame whenever an Achievement is time-limited and let players know when it will end
That’s not bad luck; it’s ignorance.
If you want to know what’s going on with new content, read the update notes. If you can’t be bothered with the update notes, then expect that there may be some things going on that you might not know about.
I’ve probably played Capricorn enough just since Coliseum was released to get the achieve again, and of course that’s with me voting against it every time. This was not a hard achievement to get, especially considering they kept it pinned almost 2 months longer than they said in the update notes. Why are we still whining on the forums?
yo look at me im better than you! i have more wins, im good and you all just newbs. and mine’s longer.
9 Champion title, S1/S2/S3/S4 Legend division/soloQ
Nailed it.
As for myself, not in front of my computer, but..
When I reached Legendary (from Sapphire), I was just under 200 matches played, with ~58% wins, almost all soloQ, almost all on Druid. Didn’t play Ranked much after that, so I ended up in pretty much the same spot. Not the best stats in the world, but it was better than s3.
This is a good one, i was duo qued and we were in que 5-6 min before we went to unranked.
Last time I queued Ranked, it was like 11min before I just gave up and joined Unranked. Actually 10+min queues weren’t too uncommon all throughout the season, but once you’ve hit Legendary, there’s really no incentive to keep suffering that.
i made legendary the past 3 seasons, i was very close to diamond and thought hey why not push for it on the last day.
I took the screen shot because the ave que time is over 6 minutes, the average que time!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohhh yeah, I overlooked that. I think I’ve only seen an average queue time that high once before.
This is a good one, i was duo qued and we were in que 5-6 min before we went to unranked.

I finished the ascension in S3, but it’s the Gift of Fortune that is taking me the longest…
I thought i could just buy it all from TP, but i don’t have 1,000 gold to spend!
How many laurels do you have? I actually didn’t spend a dime on t6 mats. It did take quite a lot of laurels because Powerful Blood was lagging far behind the others. I think I had to use around 400 laurels in the end, but I probably could’ve gotten away with half that (maybe less) if I’d just finished up that Blood stack on the TP.
If MM were better, queue times wouldn’t be so terrible, cos more people would stay in for the fun of it rather than stop Qing as soon as they reach whatever goal they have. At this point, since MM has been kittened for so long, it’ll be nigh impossible to convince fed-up pvpers to come back, so my guess is we’re stuck with garbage MM and more enticements for pve players to drop in and screw up match quality.
Obviously I’m not optimistic about where pvp is going, but I am hopeful they’ll figure out something better than this Year of the Ascension mess.
Take a look around; the wings are everywhere. Doesnt even take 1.5 seasons to get, but we got 4.
The explanation of the pathing limitations does not imply that it is meant to be considered “a very fast physical movement.” You may interpret it that way, but that doesn’t make it so.
Your interpretation of the mechanic description a bit… let’s just say, interesting.
Gw2Wiki:Shadowstepping is a mechanic that allows the user to move instantly from one place to another.
1) Your tickets do not expire at the end of the season.
2) I don’t think there is. Personally, I’d consider it match manipulation to enter a match knowing you’ll lag so much it’s essentially 4v5, but I’d guess Anet would want proof that there is intent to throw the match.
It’s pretty bad, but to be fair it’s not that bad. I’ve been playing Unranked a fair bit since Coliseum came out, and there’s a clear overall skill gap between Unranked players and Legendary players.
I do hope they improve leagues after this Year of the Ascension mess, though.
Play more unranked games, your MMR seems not at the level you “say” you play.
My unranked games are much more better than my ranked one in terms of skill.
I can only devote 15 hours max a week to the game, so my ranked divisions just show that I don’t have much incentives to Rank q that.
At least in unranked, no pip range to screw me up. Only MMR.
So I play a lot with many top players in those games. Except with new BETA map, too many players make the top more “spread out” but at least… my teams are better even if spread out than any rank q I had since October 2015.
I’ve played probably around 75 unranked matches since the new map came out. Not sure if that’s enough for my MMR to have settled entirely, but I am sure that most of these players are pretty clueless, and I’m slaughtering most opponents with little to no effort.
But I will admit that I haven’t played much ranked the last few weeks, cos there’s just not much incentive to keep playing once you’ve reached Legendary, not to mention the long queue times. So I wouldn’t doubt that the overall skill level has declined since I stopped Qing ranked, but when I do pop in occasionally, the players clearly have more experience than Unranked players on the whole.
Think about it not in terms of how much more you’re winning in Unranked (which mostly just serves to reinforce inflated self-evaluations), but how much easier it is to carry your teams to victory in Unranked. It’s easier because the overall skill level is lower, making the more exceptional players far more effective. Sorta like how maybe you might have carried your teams through Emerald and Sapphire, but as the overall skill level increased in the higher divisions, carrying bad teams became much more difficult.
Solstace’s comment in that thread is very apt. There are a lot of strategies that can be employed with success, but they generally contradict each other and will result in failure if your teammates are not on the same page.
When SoloQing, in general I find its best to stick to common rotation strategies to begin with unless something else was discussed and agreed upon pre-match. Beyond that, you need to be aware of what is going on around the map and always thinking about where you are most useful. Understand when your team has suddenly switched strategies (intentionally or not) and adjust accordingly. Communicate where enemies are (and how many) when you can. Communicate where you’re going and when you leave your capped point open. 1 player with thorough but concise (and non-condescending) communication can often ensure a victory if teammates are paying attention and making use of the info. I know this is very general, but there are more variables than I can get into with the time I have.
There was a recent thread on rotations that might help you out a bit.
Probably the best player I encountered all season was a classic Power Shatter mes, I believe with zerk amulet. He played sides and just obliterated everyone he faced, even went in for 1v2s with success.
Some old builds still work, you just have to use them properly, know the meta builds, and outplay your enemy. So basically the same as always, except the old builds aren’t as forgiving when you screw up.
The powercreep is real. To oversimplify it a bit, basically everything is now very capable of good sustain and good damage. AOE everywhere, CC everywhere. Condis out the kitten .
Head over to Metabattle and read up on all the “meta” and “great” builds. That’s at least 90% of what you’ll see in the QQ.
It’s pretty bad, but to be fair it’s not that bad. I’ve been playing Unranked a fair bit since Coliseum came out, and there’s a clear overall skill gap between Unranked players and Legendary players.

qqmore.net
Not comprehensive by any means, but there should be some helpful stuff there.
I haven’t played Coliseum much yet, but to me it seemed like once you gain control of the map, it’s nearly impossible for the opposing team to turn that around, cos it’s just so quick to get from one point to the next.
I’ve only played 1 Unranked match today, but most of the players picked Capricorn.
These achieves are very easy and fast. I suspect a lot of people who get their Coliseum achieves first will start picking Cap again simply to play it a bit more before it’s gone.
Don’t fret, this should be super-easy.
I must have missed this in the patch notes.
which patch notes was it in? not the recent one ?
July 26, when the map was introduced. If you read them, you’ll see they’ve actually been rather generous (even before people started whining about their enTITLEments), by keeping Capricorn pinned far longer than they initially said they would.
But by keeping it pinned, there was some implication that it would remain that way til the map is pulled, so I’m glad they’ve repinned it.
What rule was changed? This one?
The map will be pinned to the Unranked Map Selection Screen for the duration of this off season. [emphasis mine]
If anything, Anet changed the rule in our favor by keeping it pinned throughout most of the season, i.e. almost two months past the off season.
Not entirely. Capricorn was available two weeks before s4. I wasn’t even Qing much at the time and got the title before s4 started.
X
Lfg of 4 more players wanting to team up for Capricorn, feel free to add me when I’m online.
THIS is what more people should be doing.
If we don’t complain, and just roll with the punches as you seem to be suggesting… then well, there’s no chance of anything happening.
The extent of the moaning is absurd.
“Anet should have told us sooner that the time was limited.” They did. Read the update notes.
“Let’s have a separate Q for each map.” Sure, now everyone suffers long-kitten Qs to benefit the achievement hunters who waited too long.
“Let us play it in custom arenas.” Capricorn achieve arena pops up, everybody gets the title in 25 matches. (Sad thing is, I’m sure this sounds like heaven to you guys.)
“Add Capricorn to Ranked.” As if Ranked didn’t have enough DH unbalance as it is. (Not talking about build balance, just the lame team comps in DH meta.)
“Extend the time limit.” So what’s the point of setting a limit in the first place?
The only reasonable gripe is that Coliseum was added and took over Capricorn’s pinned spot a couple weeks early. To be fair, though, players still have had ample time to finish the achieve many times over, and even now it’s not out of reach to finish it up.
I do think that Capricorn should get the pin back until the end of s4.
It’s unclear what you’re talking about, specifically.
Time limited, as in only available for a certain amount of time?
Skill gated, as in it requires a high level of skill?
Time gated, a la Daily League Participator?
GW2 has had time limited content for ages. Actually I think it’s kinda cool they’ve brought it into pvp.
There’s still no achievement that requires a high level of pvp skill in gw2, so I’m not sure what that’s about. I’m all for it, though.
Time gated pvp achievements are kinda BS, but unless you breezed through to Legendary on 30+ winstreaks, it’s unlikely that it really held you back much further than the rest of the achieves did.
Unranked maps offer a breath of fresh air. I cringe when I get forest and foefire over and over again. Those 2 maps take up 65-70% of my matches.
I’d say 80-85% if you’re counting both. It’s boring, but understandable, cos it’s harder to carry idiots on Kyhlo and Temple. They just get so easily confused by the secondary mechanics. I like Temple, myself, but I hate Kyhlo with a passion.
unranked tends to have less skill and closer games than ranked. imo a lot more fun.
Unranked is a PITA, cos in general, the more idiots there are in a pvp session, the more frustrating it is. I did about 10 Unranked matches the other day and just about pulled all my hair out.
This could be your thread to bring players together to team up for the achieve. The title looks promising in that regard, but it looks like you just wanted to start yet another whine thread.
Look, this map has been up for almost 2 months. So many players got the achieve in well under 2 weeks, before League s4 even started. Salty Sea Dog in 2mo was never a challenge, by any stretch of the imagination. Only challenge is if you start now, in which case, who’s to blame?
Like I said before, find people who need the achieve and team up. 6 wins should be a piece of cake, even with the new map taking over the pinned slot.
Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that someone set up a team of 5.
There is a 43% – approximately – chance of any given unpegged map even coming up to vote. Even if it does come up, five people voting for it isn’t guaranteed to get it, and a premade team of five is likely to be matched against other premades who may be voting as a block for another map. Let’s allow a fudge factor for some occasions where the enemy team votes for the same map and call it a ¼ chance of even getting Capricorn.
You then need to win. Assuming MMR has done its job, you should have roughly a 50% chance of winning a game. So that’s 8 games to progress Seaside Victory by 1, on average. If, hypothetically, someone was looking to start from scratch, that’d be 200 games.
I’ve got three wins I still need, so I’m not looking at 200 – just 24. If I get together a full team of people who will vote Capricorn. That’s a far cry from yesterday, where you had a better than even chance of getting Capricorn in the first place, so you could realistically expect a Capricorn win every 3-4 matches just by soloqueuing. Which is a bit more than I could realistically grind out last night, but 9-12 in soloqueue is a lot better than 24 if you have a full premade team. Now, once I’ve done the new story, I may well be looking to team up. However, “just form a team” is not exactly consolation when the difficulty even with a team has now gone up significantly compared to what it was just with soloqueue before.
A 5-man premade will not necessarily (and probably not even likely) be matched against another 5-man. You’re only guaranteed to be matched against 2-man premade or higher. So, assuming you’re going in with a decent team comp, a decent plan, have decent communication.. cos if you’re teamed up, why wouldn’t you have that?… you should have a very good chance of having a favorable winrate, well over 50%. But yeah, you’re more or less right. It’s a pain, but doable.
Just offering a solution, but I guess a lot of people would rather complain than put effort into it. In which case, how important is the title to you, really? The sense of entitlement is astounding. We were informed in the July 26 Game Release Notes that the achieve was limited-time-only, just like we always are for limited-time content. If a person can’t be bothered to read the release notes, he/she shouldn’t be upset when this sort of stuff approaches the final stretch.
I will concede, however, that releasing and pinning the new map before retiring the previous one (and its associated achievements) is a bit puzzling. I do like the concept of rotating through trial maps in Unranked, though. People have been asking for new maps for a long time. This seems like a great way to test out new maps, and I hope some are well-received enough to make it into Ranked, which atm is basically always Forest and Legacy.
This could be your thread to bring players together to team up for the achieve. The title looks promising in that regard, but it looks like you just wanted to start yet another whine thread.

Just team up with 4 others who need it too.
“Just”
There must be enough people around. I mean, they are in this very thread. Instead of all complaining separately, why not at least try getting a group together?
If you somehow still don’t have the Capricorn achieve:
Just team up with 4 others who need it too. That’ll give you at least a 50% chance at getting Capricorn every time it’s selectable. Should be able to get it this way in 2wks, even if you’re starting today.
And if you don’t manage to get it, just remember: It’s nothing more than another pointless title that you’ll forget about in a week or two, anyway.
That may be the case vs pro teams, but from Sapphire to Legendary this season, I very rarely experienced major difficulties in team fights except when my team was just ridiculously outmatched overall. But it’s true, a properly focused druid should go down relatively fast.
Druid res in team fights is ridiculously effective. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve revived 2-3 players back to back to turn the fight around. Obviously if the entire enemy team is going HAM on the cleave, and SnR is on cooldown, you’re out of luck. But if you’re quick on the res, you can often beat the cleave. With Allies’ Aid trait, druid res is FAST.
Classic power shatter Mesmer is still very punishing, but requires a lot of finesse to pull it off.
(edited by kin korn karn.9023)
Yeah, I’d focus mainly on team fights. 1v1ing is a good way to squander the powerful support that Druid can provide. But you have great mobility, and breaking off occasionally isn’t necessarily bad. Just don’t get it stuck in your head that a Druid’s role is to 1v1, cos that’s nonsense.
Some support related things to keep in mind:
-staff 5 + staff 3 is a potent AOE heal.
-Staff 4 not only roots foes, but also removes condis
-CA 4 is a potent AOE heal. (Try to use it w/ stability.)
-CA 2 is a situationally useful, light AOE heal, condi removal, and blind.
-CA 3 dazes and heals in a large AOE blast finisher. Use it often.
-CA 5’s AOE slow makes a bigger difference than it might seem.
-Leaving CA gives AOE stealth w/ trait, which is extremely useful for reviving, among other things. Timing it right with SnR can get a downed player up in seconds, with little or no damage taken from the stomp/cleave zerg.
-Your shouts give AOE swiftness.
-Staff 1 hits multiple targets and heals multiple allies if your positioning is right.
These are the main things I try to make use of when my team needs support more than dps.
(edited by kin korn karn.9023)
Yasha, we’ve been over this already in another thread, but let’s go there again. If that video is representative of the caliber of Druids you generally face, then you’re just farming terrible players. Simple as that. Your video may be amusing to watch, but it’s irrelevant to the conversation.
