NightyNight has a point. After your gear and 100% and story done. What else? After this post will someone say your playing to fast or you should have reviewed the game before you bought it. FYI: I played gw1 since prophecies. Even though there was GvG, which this game doesnt have, HA, nope! Ra, Ta and more. GW1 had a great PVE. That kept you intersted and playing with other people.
Once you were done with GW1 PvE, you were done with GW1 PvE. Might take you a long time, but it’s no different from this game. So you either quit or PvP, just as you can with this game.
There’s no shame in stopping playing. You are not paying for any subscription.
The (6) bonus doesn’t work. I’ve tested this with 4-5 stacks of might with the elementalist’s Pyromancer’s Puissance trait (XII) that grants might with each fire spell cast. I used the golems in sPvP lobby, a steady weapon and auto-attacked with fireball for a constant time (till their death).
Then I put on the boots to complete the 6-set, but the damage didn’t change (testing with the boots on first then without didn’t change a thing). Tested on a medium golem to eliminate errors from rounding. Maybe it only applies to the might that is granted by the bonus (4). I haven’t tested that.
To eliminate the influence of the trait, as they can be really buggy, I also refunded my traits and tested it with the might from Glyph of Elemental Harmony and the same setup as above. Doesn’t work. Completely removing every piece of gear with the rune and reequiping them also didn’t work.
On a related note, while the (2) bonus works, the extra duration isn’t reflected in the tooltip for Glyph of elemental harmony, although the duration is increased on use.

Rare components are NOT a higher tier of mats. It refers to the crystals/orbs you get from veins, the bag from trees and dyes from the food stuff.
While that may be so, it doesn’t exclude the fact that people have reported getting the higher tier of materials with these tools. More specifically, Ancient wood logs from elder wood log nodes.
And the fact that I got the ruined log/ore message/item at a rare chance also indicates it so.
Thanks for the clarification, though.
Now I found out something interesting:
I forgot to use my orichalcum pick in the orichalcum ore node in WvW, and the Mining Pick actually worked!
So I went to Cursed Shore to test it again, and it now works on orichalcum ores. So this was either fixed or there’s a bug related to using it in WvW.
At the same time, however, the Splitting Axe doesn’t work on ancient wood log nodes. I haven’t tried it in WvW (not even sure there’s nodes for it there), so it might be related to the above, or they simply forgot to fix it.
My theory: The chance isn’t to proc ori or ancient wood, its actually a crappy overpriced version of mithril pick/axe that fails on chance. The sickles no one cared about because most food is worthless anyway
:D
except for
“Extremely efficient at gathering resources and uncovering rare compoments. "
in each tool’s tooltip.
In my search for merchants that sell gathering tools for karma, I’ve come across some info on other tools that could gather all the materials (like orichalcum) and with increased chance of rarer materials (like Black Lion). Of course, the Black Lion gathering tools also work that way, but you can only find them from chests.
However, I’ve come across some inconsistencies that are just strange. This thread is both a report and a question on whether or not these tools are working as intended.
For reference:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gathering
Orichalcum Picks can gather: Orichalcum Ore and all lesser ores.
Price: 4s for 100 picks
Orichalcum Logging Axes can gather: Ancient and Orrian Saplings (both give ancient wood logs) and all lesser trees.
Price: 4s/350 karma for 100 axes
Orichalcum Sickles can gather: Black Crocus, Ghost Peppers, Lotus, Omnomberries, Orrian Truffles, Seaweed, Snow Truffles and all lesser plants.
Price: 4s/350 karma for 50 sickles
So far so good.
Then we have the tools I talked about. These can be found as the last tool in each section here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gathering_tool
They are:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mining_Pick
Cost: 2408 karma for 100 picks – converted to gold with 1g = 8750 karma, ~27s
Almost 7 times the cost of an orichalcum pick
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Splitting_Axe
Cost: 2408 karma for 100 axes – converted to gold with 1g = 8750 karma, ~27s
Almost 7 times the cost of an orichalcum axe
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Foraging_Sickle
Cost: 1316 karma for 50 sickles – converted to gold with 1g = 8750 karma, ~15s (or 2632 karma/~30s for 100 sickles)
Almost 4 times the cost of an orichalcum sickle
The problem lies with what they can gather.
The foraging sickle can gather all of the nodes that the orichalcum sickle can.
The mining pick and the splitting axe, however, can only gather mithril ores and cypress saplings (elder wood logs) and below. They can’t be used to gather the top ore and tree materials.
Not only that, but as these tools have a chance of awarding you a material of greater rarity (an orichalcum ore from a mithril node, for example), and as they CAN’T be used to gather these materials from their respective nodes, you will get a “ruined ore chunk” or “ruined log” when the effect procs (triggers).
To illustrate it:
Say I’m using a Mining Pick on a Mithril Node. The chance of getting an orichalcum ore from it procs and I would get that ore, but I get a Ruined Ore Chunk instead, because the Mining Pick can’t be used on Orichalcum ores.
Say I’m using a Splitting Axe on a Cypress Sapling. The chance of getting an ancient wood log from it procs and I would get that log, but I get a Ruined Log instead, because the Splitting Axe can’t be used on Orichalcum ores.
That would be perfectly fine, really, if not for these problems:
a) these tools are all more expensive than the orichalcum ones. The karma conversion rate is the one used in the game, not something out of my dreams.
b)there’s an inconsistency, as while the mining pick and the splitting axe can’t be used on top level nodes, the Foraging Sickle can
c) There’s no reason for that inconsistency, as the prices for the mining pick, splitting axe and foraging sickle are all in the same range. In fact, the sickle is CHEAPER because 100 orichalcum sickle is 8s, while 100 foraging sickles are 30s, instead of 60s.
d) even if they couldn’t be used on top level nodes, despite the inconsistency of b), it seems illogical that the pick or the axe won’t award you a rarer ore or log when mining/cutting mithril/cypress saplings, respectively. I thought of another way that this would work: the pick/axe have a chance of successfully awarding a rarer ore/log, but it also has a chance of failing, which returns a ruined ore/ruined log, plus a chance of getting nothing at all, but that doesn’t sound right.
All that said, I would like some clarification – is this working as intended?
If not, well, here’s a report.
Additional notes: I noticed that the splitting axe and the mining pick have the same icon. At first I thought it was some special kind of axe that I haven’t heard of, but searching for the name it shows a regular logging axe in real life. If possible, can you change the icon for the splitting axe?
Reporting minor bug:
When a member of the guild is in WvW, sometimes it shows that that member is in a different server than the one he was playing on prior to entering WvW.
For example, I’m from Seafarer’s Rest. If I join the Eternal Battlegrounds, sometimes the roster will show only for the other members, not for me that I’m in Maguuma. This has no effect whatsoever in any functionality of the guild or WvW. Actually, I haven’t tested claiming a fort when I’m under this condition, but I have no reason to believe it would be an issue. Everything else works fine.
The “wrong” server also seems to change. Last week was Maguuma. This week is Henge of Denravi. Due to this changing weekly, it probably has something to do with the WvW matchups, although indirectly, as Seafarer’s Rest is EU and Maguuma and HoD are NA.
I’ve asked the members and it seems this only lasts while in WvW.
Edit: if this wasn’t clear, I meant that the other members see me in a different server through the guild roster.
Also, this has no effect on our performance, it just confuses us sometimes, which is why I’m reporting it as minor.

Armor that is currently equipped can no longer be transmuted. (Change it back)
Posted by: konosh.4721
Don’t hold it to me… but I believe because there was a bug that was rendering players nude when transmuting items. This was their solution to the problem. Can’t have nude people running around in a 12+ age game.
Nope, the nude bug was related to
“Transmuted cultural armor now prevents opposing races from equipping it.”
I’ve found that the “helpfulness” of other players has been inversely proportional to the level of the zone. That is, in low level zones, there are a lot of genuinely nice and helpful folk. High level zones are full of trolls, and I don’t just mean the ones in Frostgorge Sound. That is to say nothing of the bots.
My theory: players are getting jaded/embittered at level 80, probably in frustration at the tedious grind to get exotic armor and legendary weapons. They therefore give absolutely no kittens for anyone else.
Or, you know, the experience gained by resurrecting someone is irrelevant at level 80.
Also, I wouldn’t res you either, OP. I don’t help lazy bums.
Yeah trash talk is fine so long as it doesn’t turn into hateful spits of insults and then rage.
So you completely failed in grasping what trash talk is.
You truly think that someone deserves a 72h ban because you got offended by something they said?
There’s a difference between using offensive language, and making a personal attack with offensive language.
If someone is using profanity in chat in a general sense, that’s fine. But if they are slinging insults at you with profanity in chat, then it becomes an issue.
I disagree. Unless they are actively harassing you, a block is more than enough.
Whether you disagree or not, it is a violation of the rules that you agreed to. Thus it is an issue and needs to be reported.
So I can’t show my opposition to said rule in a thread about said rule?
And not every issue needs to be reported, specially of this kind. It’s based on someone’s feelings being hurt, which is akittenstupid reason to ban someone when there are better methods to deal with it.
When that person is banned for violating the rules, then it is far from stupid. You break the rules, you pay the consequences. Doesn’t matter what rule it is, you are still breaking the rules.
Blocking someone doesn’t solve anything. They will continue to do those actions against other players and think it is perfectly fine to keep breaking the rules. Banning them for their actions shows them that it won’t be tolerated and gives them time to think about not doing that again.
Do you seriously think that every rule is perfect and must be followed?
Also, blocking solves it because it is YOU who are offended. If you stop the attack against YOU, YOU have no reason to report it. If you are going to base the report on what that person might do to others, might as well ban every player.
I never said they were perfect. But we agree to follow those rules when we log in. Whether perfect or not, we signed a contract stating we would follow them.
And again, blocking doesn’t solve the issue. That is like saying blocking a gold spammer solves all the problems with gold spamming. It doesn’t. Reporting someone for breaking the rules solves the problem. It enforces the rules we agreed to upon that person so that they are punished for their actions.
It’s like saying, if you see someone murdering another person, are you just going to ignore it or call the police? Does ignoring it solve the problem? No. He will keep killing. But if you call the police, they will go after the man and catch him. Stopping him from doing it again.
Oh, real world analogies. And a false one at that! Gold selling and, of course, murder, don’t go away if you just ignore/block them, no. But as I said, the rule this thread is discussing is about someone being offended by something another person said. The issue lies with your sphere of “offensive”. A gold spammer has a long-term effect on the entire economy, so it affects all players at once. If you really wanted to compare one to the other, you could say that a gold spammer is being “offensive” to everyone, which directly contradicts your attempt at using it as an analogy, but that’s a poor analogy. It affects the playstyle of every player, and can’t be solved with a block. Someone being offensive to YOU, can.
“Whether perfect or not, we signed a contract stating we would follow them.”
There’s not one word in this “contract” that says we can’t argue against any of the rules.

Yes, they test their patches internally. Today’s patch was in the test server for the past weeks.
My guess is because people would bot farm them, since Champion Risen Giants could infinitely spawn them.
Not just bots, but many active players too.
Hi. I remember from the betas that, when opening a thread that an Anet employee posted in, you could click an icon/name at the top of the page that would take you directly to the first Anet employee post of that thread.
What happened with that? Or was I dreaming all along?

The real issue here is:
Gods Word or God Sword?
This is a low-priority suggestion. I would just like to suggest that you enable hiding of only some parts of the UI.
The reason for that is that I’ve been recently trying to play the game with no UI at all, and it’s prettykittenfun, and completely viable. However, I still miss an HP indication (jelly on the screen isn’t a good one) and, to a lesser extent, skill cooldowns.
So at least enabling hiding the entire UI BUT the HP globe and the skill bar would be great.
Thanks for reading.
EDIT: Please also enable the option to show NPC conversations with the interact button even when the UI is hidden.

Both do the same thing. There’s no cross-map chat (between EBG and the borderlands) and there’s no communication with the opposing team.
I’m not sure why they kept both, because I remember them saying they would remove one of the two. I do like it though, makes it easier to announce something important in bold red.

Same here. I’ve seen it happen mostly with Windborne Speed.
(Staff) Lightning Surge has infinite range, or as far as you can have an enemy targeted. Both the damage and condition are applied to the enemy.
I think this is a fairly major bug because it can be used to slowdown enemies that are running away, as it puts them in combat, and of course the fact that you can finish enemies from afar. Also works when out of the Line of Sight, as in if the enemy is in a tower/keep wall, if I can target the enemy, I can use the skill when he runs away when low on health.
I haven’t tried other skills/classes, but I’m fairly sure that lightning surge isn’t the only skill like that, based on the great deal of times I ran away from enemies.
If it’s not a bug, the tooltip should be changed, as it states that it has the same range as (Staff) Gust (1200), and this one doesn’t have infinite range.
