Good to know.
So it’s probably the effect the shoulders should have?
Looks better in the preview. So I don’t necessarily need to get this. :P Plus the fact that you lose your shoulder skin for an effect really bothers me. Most of the armors do not look nice without any shoulders…. :C That’s why I hardly use my nightfury.
The one attached to my Amulet turned into winter’s presence too…
I hope this is just some sort of late april’s fool for wintersday, because I want it back to its previous state…
PS: Is this the same effect the shoulders will have? Would be nice to know, because if so, I wouldn’t want to get them. (though it looks different in the preview, but one never knows)

I play a Sylvari, a friend of mine plays a Charr. When I opened the instance my friend stated that he could hear Mordremoth speaking – he just didn’t see the little cutscenes you get as a Sylvari, with these “things” to happen. So he always had to ask: What happend? What was that? And stuff. ^^
Oh and… playing the final chapter as a Sylvari without taking some company with you is especially ‘fun’… ^^" (I hope you get the irony here… it doesn’t change anything if you take some NON Sylvari company with you, not for you that is… xD But you’ll be happy to know that they’re there…) Because afaik the “things” that happen there happen to every Sylvari… ^^"
Hm… you might be doing something wrong.
I didn’t check every single mob I killed, but the weekend I farmed aurillium in AB while using any EXP boost available and following the whole northward event chain over and over again I had to get rid of the loot stuffing my inventory every 2hrs after the meta was done. And the EXP came from alone.

There’s only one thing that really bugs me… ^^
These rolling devils… or whatever they’re called in English.
While you can simply dodge through them on a zerker thief and run for your life you’re DEAD if you’re on a zerker ele and just forget to throw a meteor into them before your run through. That’d be fine so far…
But as a class that does not have 25 percent movement speed under standard circumstances they’re really getting annoying. Sometimes I really feel trolled. Can’t kill them fast enough on my engi, can’t even run away (not even WITH the 25 percent spec) The only thing that really helps is getting 33 percent movementspeed from gadget, equipping a flamethrower and run for your life.
I mean as a Zerker you have them dead soon enough, but on condi or not to mention on supportive gear like cleric’s… no way. I used to die my way through AB on my rev in asc clerikittenil I was fed up and threw the whole gear into the forge. Now I wear soldier’s – I survive, they die. So I just forget about trying to be a supporter. I won’t get 2 or 3 sets of armor per character either. Too bad I can’t exchange the jewelry and my backpiece but well… even exotics work better than asc cleric’s… O.o
And now that my gliding is maxed out I try to avoid running around on the floor if I don’t intend to fight if I can… :P
The other mobs… well they’re tough, but beatable, or at least you can run ^.^
First of all, you hardly find people to help you on ONE HP – so where should the train come from? Second… I got flamed last weekend, because I DARED to turn on my commander tag while getting HPs to direct other players, because “this is irritating, we are doing meta, get ur kittenn tag of or go to another map mimimi” ANd finally, if it comes to VB, the more people you have on your ‘train’, the longer you’ll have to wait for HPs where you need a little jumping, gliding or some masteries if you don’t have a mesmer with you or whatever else. That makes people leave too. Not to mention that, the more players you have on you the longer a champion fight lasts, because the scaling is insane.
Do a HP with 3 people, it’s done within 1 minute, do it with 10 and it’s 5 minutes and above. Nah thanks… Who’d like that?
The worst thing is, that exalted gathering – a mastery that does NOTHING else than complete some collections(!) is tier 5. You’ll HAVE to get it, if you ever want to complete these collections.
That is nonsense, especially for those, who don’t have – or will never have enough mastery points to max everything out.
It should be tier 3 or 4. (has anyone ever encountered a situations where you could use – or WILL need tier 3 anyway? Exalted help? I’ve never been in one, and I’ve never seen someone use it, nor did I find a way to use it myself so… Where’s the point? If there had to be pointless masteries like champion stuff or whatever they should have been in the higher tiers for those who MUST have everything…)
But well good to know, I’d rather save my mastery points for more important stuff like Itzel poision mastery or stuff instead.
I’ve been to VB, AB, TD and DS…
I’m glad that I got 13 of 25 elite specs on my characters. I won’t do more though. With every day passing, it went harder and harder to get some help for doing HP’s, other than people saying: help yourself noob, or simply no. No matter how polite you asked. That is annoying enough. I only did HPs in VB and AB – because TD is a hell. Even getting a simple HP – or findig it is worse than to grind 50 HPs in Tyria. Not to mention that there’s hardly any help, because no one seems to be there.
And then, what reason would you have to be there? If it’s about leyline stones well, grinding lesser events does the job. Not very well but better than nothing. The meta fails anyway. Either, because there are no 4 comanders, or people leave for another reason. Even if the map was filled, as soon as the meta starts, everyone is gone.
I do not see any sense in doing boring event chains over and over again if the meta seems to be ridiculously hard in the end, so that – other than a few organized tries – no one even wants to try again and again. It just ends up in frustration. If I wouldn’t HAVE to kill that Chak thingy for the last piece of the mistward armor collection I wouldn’t even keep an eye on the whole issue anymore.
There are so much more interesting things to do with my lifetime than mindless and pointless event grinding for NO reason – because the meta fails anyway. Maybe one day there’ll be an orga that can do it. I’ll join, do it, and leave again – for good.
I still need to see that boss fall for the Mistward armor – I wouldn’t go there if I wasn’t forced by that. Everything else was okay, but that one… Seriously… YOu waste your time over and over again, do events for nearly 2hrs… The map is full – and if it comes to meta, everyone’s gone. No one even wants to TRY…
And IF you happen to come across people actually trying you see 10ppl per lane and off course it fails terribly.
Trying to find a good orga isn’t that easy too. And then you have to be right on time and lucky enough to get your slot too. I really hope something will be done about this. This is getting frustrating. I won’t set any foot into TD anymore, other than for leyline crytal farming for another boring collection if I feel the urge to, until something is done that makes the attempts of fulfilling meta more successful.
Yeah SOME people wanted harder content… but I don’t think harder content is defined by frustrating map metas that no one is able to do wiethout an organized map in the first place. That makes no sense if you have to grind eventchains first.
Funny that almost no one seems to know anything about that not CCing anyway – even on pseudo organized TD maps no one loses a word about that, no wonder it fails under 3 minutes… And then… afaik even the reaper has CC on his autohit… A lot of professions have.
So it’s not only kitten hard to do, you’re even forced to use another weapon than you’d usually do or other skills or whatever? Yeah that’s some fun… That’s not “hard” that’s – simplified – stupid.
Now that the dust has settled.... Masteries

Honestly, I’d rather grind 5 million EXP per tier than trying to do adventures I really suck at to reach silver and gold (while I can’t even make the least rank due to being disabled) or run after stupid achievements to farm mastery points…
I’ll never have enough to max out all masteries, not even the necessary ones, os I chose gliding and gave up on the rest.
Don’t like the grind for crystalline Ore too, after getting my 13th elite (of 20 lvl 80’s) there’s only one thing to get for now and I’m done for good. And that’s a bugger too, seeing that no one seems to be able to do the TD meta…
Btw leveling masteries isn’t much of a big deal if you have the mastery points, I didn’t have to grind and got 6/2/3/3 easily while playing anyway. Same goes for Tyria masteries, that are Max/1/Max already. (Okay I did the CoF thingy for 4hrs once, but only because the magical auto loot is a great relief.)
I’m working on my 10th elite now, which is boring as hell anyway. I want to get it over with, to finally enjoy the new content. I still have some characters to go. (Yeah i know it’s MY fault that I gave Anet enough money for 25 slots… but it’s not my fault that I get punished for it now by having to do the same boring nonsense over and over again)
Anyways… The first few times it was okay, everyone was busy getting their heropoints. But with every more character I had to bring through the begging began. I’ve even been waiting for a group for Balthi HP for 2(!) hours. That’s everything but fun.
Then, the maps feel dead. Every starting area, even Sparkfly Fen has a more vivid mapchat after Teq died. IF you ask for help you either get no answer, or people that answer stuff like: Noob, help urself.
If you don’t have someone at hand that helps you, if he needs the HP or not, or if you don’t accidently run into a HP train it is anything but fun to ‘grind’ them.
So I still suggest that either the needed cost for the elites is decreased to 120pts, or HPs should be soloable. Once everyone has done them it’ll become even worse.
Not to mention that the scaling is simply impossible. Do a HP with 2 or 3 people, it can be done in ~30secs, do it with 5+ and it scales up so hard that you need minutes to kill the champ plopping out of the HP challenge. If there happens to be an event nearby (if someone is actually doing it that is…) it doesn’t get better.
I don’t feel motivated knowing that I have to grind on… The only thing I know is, that I will never ever buy an additional slot anymore. What’ll be in the next addon? Another elite spec with another insane 250 points grind up that will take weeks to do? No thanks really…
I want Trahearne back! If I can’t have Trahearne I want a Mini-Trahearne, and Trahearnes face to be available in character creation. :C And I’d give the world for the real Caladbolg GS skin!
I liked Trahearne from the first moment on. In fact, he’s been my favorite character, and still is. What ANet did to him made me cry. I’m not playing this story ever again.
From the first BWE on I was eager to save him. But in the end, we never had a chance. That’s quite bitter.
Having to finish him myself was even worse than anything had expected.
And talking to the others (Marjory, Rytlock etc) after that scene made me feel even worse. Everyone was like: Yeah we did it! Mordremoth is dead, let’s just be happy and throw a big party. No one lost a singel word about Trahearne and his sacrifice. That’s not fair. :C
Yeah, making it Account bound by nature and soulbound by use would have been the better choice. Did half of it on my Necro, so I can literally throw it away instead of using it on my Rev…

I have like tons of classes.
I can’t spend time doing the same thing for all those classes… Please consider dropping the value of hero points needed… 250 is still a lot for someone who has like 7 or 8 classes, and want to play elite spec for all of them.
Or if you make hero points; make some hero points have 50 point value worth…. but more challenging or whatever.
Don’t want to waypoint everywhere doing boring things just to play elite spec :/
They can’t drop it much below 250 or those who map completed Tyria, which is needed if you were crafting legendary weapons, could unlock them completely since that gives them just north of 210 HP.
And? They completed Tyria. That should be fair enough. O.o
Plus I’d rather have people on the Maguuma maps that are dedicated and helping to do the map events than being on a map with only heropoint jumpers because they’re FORCED to. Plus the choice whether we do HPs in Tyria OR Maguuma should be ours.
I killed the Dragon yesterday Twice and except Ley Armor he drops nothing special that could be usefull for this :O
You killed the shadow dragon in Dragon’s Stand? O.o
I haven’t heard that anyone even managed to set their foot into his lair, or even killed him. :O
Maybe it’s a rare drop that involves farming? Just like… well Tequatls Hoard that won’t just drop for everyone? >.>

250 is way better, but still too much. I can understand that they try to fill up the new maps, if only with alts trying to farm stupid heropoints – while they won’t really contribute to the maps event progress these maps full of heropoint jumpers will start to annoy other people eventually.
Plus, farming these points with 25 chaarakters is still something that keeps me off setting a single foot into the new areas with all of my alts. It’s just boring having to do this over and over again.
120 (the double of a usual spec) would have been perfect. People could have chosen to do them in central Tyria OR in Maguuma, which would have given us so much more freedom.
Thanks for the change though, but as someone with 25 characters I still feel like receiving a penalty for buying so much character slots and levelling so much characters, equipping them and so on.
I WANT to play all of them, but I do NOT want to stumble through Maguuma with all of them. It DOES make a difference which class you’re trying to rush the insane hunt for heropoints through with. I do have class and equip combinations that are (or were) finde for central Tyrias stuff, but I don’t even want to think about dragging them through the jungle, while I still want the elite’s…
Even if I do ONE character a day, finding all the necessary points, trying to get to them, finding people that help to do them… that equals 24 days of madness. (My Necro is the onlyone with 100 percent map completion and has the reaper spec now)
Time that I can’t ENJOY the new content. Because There is a reason I only completed central Tyria only ONCE: I find it boring. And being forced to do it now doesn’t make it more interesting…
Anyway… For now I can’t find the motivation to drag every character through Maguuma – Maybe I’ll never find it – means no elite specs for me then. shrugs It’s still disappointing somehow.
They can’t do that, especially in cities.
First, probably a lot of terrain not created with gliding in mind ( possibilities to end in places we’re not supposed to go )
Second, masteries are account bound, and cities map completion gives Transmutation charges. Soon enough people would find an optimal route using gliding to spam the cities even faster than they are doing now.
Gliding? Fast? Every non-chronomancer mesmer is quicker by foot. ^^
And as for the grove for example, it wouldn’t make a difference if you jump or glide at all if you know the proper places. I mean really… DR wasn’t the city I’d spam for transmutation stones anyway. (Doing daily PvP I have enough of them anyway)
Rata Sum is the fastest one. Doesn’t even take 10 minutes to discover.
I’d love to see gliding in the main cities too, but that would involve a lot of invisibl walls they’d need to put in and other stuff so I don’t think that’d ever happen. Too bad though.

Well I’ve had 100% world completion on my main, I’ve seen a lot of HHoT by now, got some masteries, even found all insights in the first map (while one of them can’t be gathered before reaching Itzel IV) But I only got 4 HP’s so far.
I don’t feel like running after them. I’m not even interested in doing so. I just spent an hour trying to figure out how to even GET to one of them before I gave up.
There’s no way I’d ever do that again, on neither Alt. That’s all but funny.
Not everyone is a supermegar0xx0r-pro, and I don’t even want to become one.
I want to enjoy playing, and spending weeks to figure out how to get the necessary HP’s to be able to equip a full elite spec is not what hits my taste.
I know there are people out there that already completed them. Fine for them. I didn’t and probably won’t for a long, long time.
That really takes away a whole chunk of fun.
I BET we have to kill that Dragon in Dragons Stand first.
ANd then let’s just hope it’s a guaranteed drop, not like the hoard on Teq, I did daily for 2 years without a SINGLE hoard… I’m not gonna do that again. For NOTHING.

I’d have loved a personal story for each class for aquiring the elite spec. That wouldn’T even hurt if you’d have to do one of them twice or thrice.
I don’t like them to be attached to hero points too. But if it HAD to stay that way, then I think 120pts in total would be fairly enough. You could even ‘grind’ your elite in Tyria, for now, if you’re not into the new jungle maps for now, and for later, when the maps aren’t that populated anymore you could go back to Tyria to get your elite too.
Hm… With the hint to ‘How to train your Dragon’ and the picture a dev posted… it might be something to obtain in Dragon’s Stand from that shadow dragon (if it is even a worldboss – I’ve never been there yet)
If that was true however, we probably won’t need to hope to see thee shoulders before Halloween is already history again.

If I had known that I’d get Silverwastes x4³ in the end, only even more demotivating I’d have saved my money…
Every Charakter needs to do the same boring stuff if he wants his elite. —> 400pts
You have to grind events for your masteries, which you can only do IN Maguuma, to even advance though the maps if you want 100 percent. Every map ha its own currency you’ll have to grind for stuff just like SW… I don’t like the way GW2 is going. Whoever loved SW – I didn’t even complete the achievements there. I found it boring, like Drytop.
There were days where a JP that you can’t complete only were 10 missing AP… now it may be THE mastery point you’re missing to advance. (at least for Maguuma). Now you’ll HAVE to do content you don’t like while you had the choice to do it or leave it before. The whole system is something I never wanted to see in GW2…
Not to mention the dungeon nerfs.
If that’s the policy for future content, then I’m sorry but I’ll be gone by then.
Ascended shoulder components (both, the liningand the plush, whatever they’re called in English) do not work. No matter if it’s light, medium or heavy stuff.
it did cost 16 gold yesterday… ^^"
And then… if you don’t have the mats it’s one of the least expensive things even with its 160G right now… ^^"
Someone tried oil, icy lodestones, the wings and gift of darkness?
Can’t craft one yet because I’m missing ascalonian tears atm.
It’s perfect as it is. You don’t have to use it. :P
An option to disable other players minis would do, just like other games have them, for those who don’t like it.
There’s far more annying stuff like max height Charr / Norn with huge Wings or almost everyone using a legendary greatsword, while the slashing animation REALLY sucks in combat.
You only need to use the ‘extra’ code if you log in from another computer / network.
But you can switch the 2 step authentification off after receiving your mini if you do not like it. Though, I’d suggest to leave it turned on, as it makes it harder to hack your account and you won’t probably even notice it if you always log in at home only.
I’d love to see the following:
- New sylvarian armors, one for each class (light, middle, heavy) that could be worn by other races too. I mean we do have soooo much armors, but Sylvari are limited to 12+the chef outfit… As a Sylvari-only player I’d really like to see a higher variety here!
- A Xylophon or Marimba, a Pan-flute and Steeldrums as musical instruments for a more caribbean sound!
- A colorable BLINDFOLD as a headpiece skin for every weightclass! We don’t have something like that in the game (unless playing a revi or a female character in light armor!)
- some ‘useless but fun’ attachments to the home instance, like a jukebox that lets you play a random theme of GW2 or your self-made playlist for the game, a piano or pipe organ, whatever, just some fun to make the home instance a little more attractive other than just to grab your daily nodes.
- New haircolors: vanilla, true yellow, neon-yellow for every race (especially Sylvari, they only have orangish yellow tones or darker ones)
- A pair of wings that lets you actually ‘fly’, like the broom or the flying carpet, just animated wings that change your movement-animation.
- A rideable Dolyak / Moa and stuff that works like the broom or the flying carpet too. (Just animation replacements, but it would be great if we won’t ever get REAL mounts!)
- A permanent bonfire as a toy that can be placed somewhere for a certain period of time and lets you do some stuff like lighting up a torch, roasting a fish or producing fume by putting water inside for roleplaying or fun purpose only! Might be associated with costume brawln too. (You could hit people with a lit torch or the just roasted fish or blow them away from the fireplace by putting something more explosive than water inside, immobilize them through fume whatsoever)
Hi there!
We do have the option to switch charactermodels to ‘lowest’, so that we get these pink standard models – but we can’t do so with weapons and backpieces. It’d be VERY useful if it was possible. One option for each would do.
Why? Well…
Because of max height Charr and Norn, wearing these annoying black and white wings, that will cover the whole screen if they’re standing in front of you. That sucks especially while zerging or doing worldbosses and vistas and jumping puzzles and stuff!
Same goes for these annoying legendary effects. (most of all it’s just the 3 greatswords). If you’re trying to go melee and have 2-3 people wielding one of the legendary greatswords and slashing in front of you you can’t see anything but their slashing, even IF you turn down ANY graphic effects.
(No I don’t envy them, I own eternity myself :P)
I’d be happy if I could turn off either backpieces or weapons or both according to the situation in the options.
I mean really, did you ever notice the dimensions of the wings and weapons on a maximum height and fat Charr or Norn? o.o Poor Asura…
How dare you call it “China-noodle”!!! :P
Oh well, got my authenticator working and got my Chinese Dragon.
Because it looks like a noodle XD And a group of people with them create some air-spaghetti xD
There’s another game where you can tame dragons that you can ride, fly, use for diving and stuff and that you can let fight with you. They had these chinese dragons during an event in different colors. Everyone wanted one. They looked the same and were called “noodles” all around. That’s why. xD I just think it suits then xD
I love my ‘Noodle’ though <3
Plus we definitely need a Xylophon or marimba, a panflute and steeldrums for some tropical music.
I’d be in for semitones as well!
Like the title says, I just want to thank Anet for listening to our begging and releasing the Mini Mystical Dragon in the US/EU too. <3
If you didn’t get yours yet: Turn on 2-step-authentification for your account. If you already use it, turn it off and on again and you’ll be rewarded with your dragon.
I never bought additional bag sapce, as 100 slots are enough I think. But I’d give the world for 5 accountwide bag slots, just like the bank is working but for the inventory.
There’s so much stuff one could use on every character then. I mena… There’s not anyone who bought the royal terrace pass twice or even thrice, is there? O.o
Hi there!
As a player who has 21 character slots with a total of 13 lvl 80 characters and a good amount of playing time I do have a lot of accountbound stuff like Music instruments, royal terrace pass, endless bank Portal, toys, etc pp.
I always have to put it into the bank in order to use it for another character, and better remember who got it or I have to waste a lot of time to search for it.
I would find it very nice if we had at least 5 Slots or so in our inventory where the usual bags are, to put accountwide stuff into, so that they would Show up in These Slots no matter on wich character we log in with.
That would make things easier.
(sorry for the random capitals, I can’t seem to turn of Auto correction in my browser -.-)
The RP tag will only work if the megaserver does not, by any circumstance, mix servers with different languages. I’ve heard people being mixed up with german and french roleplayers, which, breaks the immersion for all three.
It’s really weird and awkward to go into a bar and half of the crowd speak a completely different language, with their own stories. Someone from the german server might even run that bar whilst someone on Piken Square does the same.
Personally, seeing as Anet said that megaserver was not a feature they went for to save money and resources, and even admitted that running a server is cheap, then my wish (as it will likely never happen) would be that they opened up 1 new server tagged as “Roleplay” for both EU and NA that isn’t affected by the megaserver, where a set of roleplay policies are used and anyone harassing or disrupting RP can get reported.
Either that or turn Piken Square and Tarnished Coast into it. I prefer the former idea, as it would be better to create new servers seeing as some people call those servers home as much as us RPers, and shouldn’t suffer getting the megaserver cut off from them due to our sake.
Only problem I see is that it might attract other people who want to use it to get away from the megaserver aswell, like guild missions, world bosses and such. Those issues needs to be addressed first.
Anyway that’s a wishful idea I believe would solve the RP problem completely.
One server per region would lead to the same problem, with mixed up languages and stuff. Plus, Anet would never grant us a RP Server with special rules. We don’t necessarily need one anyway. If the system that is currently running in DR would be expanded to the whole world (instead of posting the usual ‘Yeah baby we did it!’ postings like Anet does) a lot of problems would be solved.
What we do need indeed, is a way to report people if they willingly disturb or harrass RPers. Okay, currently we can report them for harrassment, but we can’t for trolling, which in fact ISN’T a playstyle, unlike most trolls claim it was. We don’t need special RP rules, we’re no better, but no worse than any other player that plays the game.
But we need protection, there is no reason why we would have to suffer under such infantile individuals. Just as much as Guildleaders should be able to report people who willingly disturb a guild mission, and organisatiors should be able to report people that try to ruin a Teq or Wormkill, like sPvPers should be able to report people for just leeching, standing around and doing nothing during a match and so on.
In short, next to scamming, selling gold, or harrassment, we definitely need an option to report people for griefing/trolling, and a support that frequently punishes people for doing so.
We do not hurt anymone while RPing, but people who willingly ruin the game for others with their behaviour DO hurt others, and this needs to be punished consequently.
Well… what they are doing at the example of Divinity’s Reach doesn’t seem too bad, after all, if they manage to bring the system to every map out there soon.
I logged in today (Riverside) and what I saw in our little prestigue terrace were all the people from riverside that usually hang around there. Well, that’s fine.
Then I felt that it was time to RP. So I did change my character and did guest on Drakkar-Lake, the unofficial German RP-Server. As soon as I logged in I was greeted by a couple of emotes. Great!
I created a group with one of my fellow RPers later on, and then got disconnected due to a heavy storm out here. When I logged in again, off course did I forget to guest, but guess what? I was placed on the same map where I was kicked from by dc, and where the member of my group still stood.
This seems very encouraging. In fact, it takes a huge weight off my heart. I’m still with all of you who want cities to be excluded from the Megaserver for comunity’s sake, but I can’t deny that the changes really look promising.
Can’t wait to see this happening in other cities and maps as well!
Well the funny thing is… guesting or not guesting, the megaserver seems to put me into the DR copy with all the Drakkar-Lake(GER) roleplayers in it automatically. O.o
And thus, while I am from Riverside. (I did play on DL when I started GW2 back on headstart)
I wonder WHY it does it? Yes, I am a roleplayer, and yes, I aprechiate it. but why? Does the system actually recognize using a lot of text <text> or even the usage of /em, or am I just lucky today?
I really like where it seems to go now, if only the system was enabled for every map soon. Besides that, no matter how good this might / or will work in the future, I am still with all of those, who want cities to be excluded from the megaserver.
I love to RP, and now (at least in DR) I can buuut… I’m a member of 2 comunities, 2 very different comunities, with the RPers from Drakkar, and the PvEers/WvWers from Riverside. I DO miss them. I even miss the trolls and flamers that used to upset everyone, because they were OURs! It still feels like something very important is gone, The anchor that kept me where I belonged is now gone, I feel seperated, yet even homesick in some kind of way…
I wonder why this has been underestimated that much. Merges are usually hard too, it takes time until 2 comunities grow together, and some individuals never will BUT, with a merge you do not lose anything, you just gain. And with the megaserver you lose a lot in order to gain, but WHAT is gained loses its value due to what you lose.
That’s why we need our cities serverbased. Just leave us the cities. What are we fighting for in WvW? For a changing color and a name, that will soon lose its meaning to us? For a few points and buffs you could easily live without? (and usually did before, while guesting)
If it’s not for financial reasons it cannot hurt so much that you have to take our homes awy from us. Our servers ARE important to us, to have a place you can return to, where you meet the peope you usually do, even the one’s that kill your nerves. A place where you can just be seperated from all the hussle outside.
Well… sniffs
I miss my good old Riverside. I miss it so badly.
We just got an official Response in the German forums.
To save Google translations, in Short:
They are still monitoring the Megaserver and keeping an eye on map population. They are tewaking the algorythm and are still on it to keep the feeling of a ‘home-comunity’, especially in cities.
They are also working on the language problem, and the ‘hotfix’ is indeed just a temporary filler to stop harassment between different nations and players.
They will REWORK the spawntimes of the 3 huge bosses for Europe, so that European players will have a better chance to participate.
ANd here goes the best: They are WELL AWARE of us RPers and try keep us in mind while tweaking the megaserver’s algorythm, so that we can be together again, PLUS they are aware of the problem with guild missions and stuff and might have a solution they won’t talk about for now.
Isn’t that GREAT?! ,
Oh yeah and… the megaserver is NOT the consequence of financial savings, they still need the same amount of servers, but just want the maps to be more vivid. And they’re still listening to us, and we shall feel free to go on discussing and adding feedback, which is very apreciated and so on.
You seem to forget the language-filter that they added a few days back.
Of course you’re only reading german. Because the client only shows you german. And even if you disabled the filter, it doesn’t quite seem to work in showing you different languages.
So yeah, sorry, but that doesn’t show anything.
As mentioned several times before, I did NEVER use that stupid option. Turning it off for good was the first thing I did after the so called hotfix. So I can indeed read any other languages. And it works perfectly for any map. (Only that most people seem to ignore me because they don’t know about that stupid option)
DR AND Gendarran had only the server’s language in the chat, as it should have been in the first place.
Sparkfly Fen, Blazeridge Steps and many other maps did have a mixture of languages and people though. I bet they’re testing something, and they’re starting in DR and Gendarran.
It’d still be better if they would even consider to leave a word about what they’re doing exactly. Enabling the Megaserver on specific maps while not updating the official list seems a lot uncaring.
@Aeolus: Guilds will be cross-server before the end of this year, it was in the blog posts, in case you did overread it. So it doesn’t matter anymore. Soon the influence, the buffs and whatever else of a guild on the server it was created will be working for members from whatever server else that join. Guilds will no longer belong to a specific server, just as we are losing our homeservers one by one.
How this is, or will be working out in WvW? God knows… xD Prepare for the next wave of frustrated players. WvW’ers it will be this time, like many other times before. And I bet they’ll be just as much ignored as we are right now.

Well I just did some little tests. They have INDEED changed something, even for the EU servers.
I’ve tried Divinity’s Reach and Gendarran Fields on 3 Servers.
Riverside (DE): All German mapchat, I’ve even seen familiar faces, most of the people I asked seemed to be from Riverside iriginally.
Drakkar-Lake (DE / RP) All German mapchat, didn’t get too much answers though, but RPers thend to have their mapchat off anyway. Most of them actually do. For Gendarran, a lot of people seemed to be from Drakkar.
Piken-Square (EN / RP) All English mapchat, a lot of people claimed to be from Piken, one from a WvW opponent, claiming to go bash some Piken. (Which I don’t like that much… o.o" I still vote for a map-restricted worldchat for homeservers only, that can be read across EVERY copy of the map and only be used by people who chose a certain server at character creation or are currently guesting on it, to keep the comunities together and avoid WvW rivality and spying ^^)
We did have a Tequatl kill on a megaserver just a few minutes ago.
Besides the usual and tiring discussion about speaking or not speaking the native language, and with some people leaving while we carried our people over via taxi groups thanks to teamspeak it did actually work (well 75 percent of the Map had been German in the end and after som effort)
But to face it, the megaserver isn’t wanted by the majority the way it currently is. It’s even harder to get anything organised. It gets frustrating, yes. As well as it gets frustrating to read the same stupid discussion in the mapchats every hour and wherever you go. Using the new option to block everything except your clients language IS NO SOLUTION! You can’t even organize anything wile using it.
The game is frustrating as it is, and with no sorting at all the RP is literally dead, other than in small groups. Well… welcome to unwanted, yet boring bubble-RP…
The average mood is very bad, people are insulting each other, not only for their language but for their playing-style, comunities and subcomunities are scattered… Everything that once was fun has been taken away from us. Right now, I rather feel like leaving, and there are a lot of others on my friendlist who are playing with the same thought. THis is not the game that I leaned to love, that I’ve been playing from beta on, the game where I put a lot of my heart’s blood into. A lot of money, too.
As awesome as it may look on paper, if you try to RP in WvWvW, prepare for meeting massive hate even from your own server. WvW is fast-paced, sometimes stressful, and aims for maximum efficiency. Stopping to type in some snarky IC comments in the middle of a siege will be either drowned in the ocean of tacticly actually relevent information (like “inc.west” or “dont waste supps on outergates!!”) or after the defeat it will get lots of hate. If RPers keep to the only safe parts like the keep of their servers borderland, you will also be hated for taking up slots from those who would actually contribute to the WvW.
Also if the WvW maps would turn to the last RP haven, there would be queues, reaching into the EotM, and you are back where you started, unable to meet up with RPers.
Plus, the WvW’ers have nothing to do with Anets incapabillity of listening to any feedback. In fact, they suffer enough due to their ignorance.
While having dinner yesterday I came up wit an idea that might solve some of the chat issues without having to block other languages in advance, which is, imo just stupid.
We could have a “World”-channel, in addition to the /map, where you can read the stuff of people in your copy of the map, the worldchannel would let you read messages from YOUR homeworld only. Per map, but not restricted to a certain copy.
Here’s an example. You play on Riverside and visit blazeridge steps. The /map channel is crowded with people that actually share your copy of the zone, but using the worldchannel would let you chat or interact with the people from Riverside that currently are in the same zone as you are, but on different copies.
That way you do keep your server’s comunity somehow, as well as you keep your homeservers language, and if you can’t stand the language mix, you do not have to use the /map at all if there’s no huge event where coordination is needed. You could easily find groups or people to help in any kind of way, and it would be easier to switch copies to be with the ones you want to play with.
If you guest to another server, Drakkar-Lake for example, you share their world chat, as long as you guest to that server, no matter in which copy of a zone you are, or if megaserver is enabled or not.
I think that would be a better solution than the option we currently have. Not just for now, but for the future too. I would work for WvW recruitements or to stay in the comunity you call a home.
Oh well does it matter that in my imagination the worldchat had a deep purple color? xD (Yes I can see it right before my eyes…)
Even overflows are better sorted than the megaserver actually is, what I find is quite funny.
And what happens to French Canadians, most using a French client game and stuck on NA servers. Will they all be ignored by default now even if typing in english?
How many bandaids does it take to cure a brain concussion, Anet?
As long as you’re not amongst your homeworldpeople and others have that opftion toggled, willingly or unwillingly, as it is ON by default… Yes, you are.
And I can feel your pain, really. Even in the EU using a French or German, even a spanish client makes you a minority compared to all the people (even French, German or Spanish ones do use an English client for some reasons) wo play in English.
To make this determine if you’re blocked by default or not is just not right. It’s a good thing for intolerant individuals that can’t stand anything but their own native language, but they could toggle it if needed, it shouldn’t be ON by default. Plus, nobody does really miss people that disappear in their sweet little bubble if toggling this option on.
Wouldn’t worry about the chat language filter.. as far as I can tell it doesn’t work anyway.
Been on three maps today.. my language server is English, I have got the language filter on and still see dutch, german and all manner of other lingo..
Don’t get me wrong, I couldn’t careless where your from and what language you speak but there is no point having this tool in the first place imo when a language can be set to one thing as a default and then they simply start spurting out all there guild spam, chat spam, profanities, LFG spam etc and general chit caht in a different language endlessly.Someone back at base, as ever, couldn’t be bothered to think it through properly or even be bothered to test it properly imo.
It DOES indeed work.
Of f course you still see German or dutch around. It doesn’t filter by language, but per client.
So if your client is set to only show English, you will only see what people with their clients set to English type. Off course a player with his client set to English can write something in German you might read.
But Players who set their clients to German and write in English are just filtered. See the problem here?
Just tried Tequatl on an overflow where 99 percent of the people must have had another language set up in their clients as myself (German that is). Almost all of them must have had that filter enabled by default and didn’t even notice it.
I’ve tried it in the Mapchat, I’ve tried it on Say, I’ve even tried to NOT be ignored via Emotechannel. No chance! This is the worst idea after all the others before.
Who cried for a chatfilter? We just wanted a better sorting per language. I never wanted English to disappear for me, I never wanted to be ignored because I like to play the game in another language as other people I might comunicate with because I do NOT refuse to speak English, even if my native language is German.
But now I’ll be ignored, even if I have this option switched off because others haven’t. Does Anet really want to chase their players away or what’s up with that? Do they wish to close the EU servers entirely, to have the remaining players join NA? So it’s only NA and CN left? No? but it just starts to feel like that…
