I play in a small group enough to enjoy running around with a big group when I do find myself following the zerg. Variety in WvW is key to keep the rather stale gametype enjoyable.
So many scholars on JQ que times from other servers…
There is usually a short 5-10 minute que for whichever map the main chunk of FOO is, aside from EB the rest are usually free game.
Seems like an irrational decision, DB is in a similiar situation to JQ (rating wise), too strong to be beaten by the servers in their tier and no real hope of moving up or down anytime soon.
One guild doesn’t make or break a server, especially in the case of EMP, assuming a lot of their members enjoy JQ and don’t want to move…
Goodluck to the EMP that choose to stay on JQ, and goodluck to the ones that choose to transfer.. at the very least they’ll be funding the next expansion!
That’s not how it worked out for SoS. Easy wins went away and JQ got all the transfers so a couple small guilds left. When it became clear the server was no longer first place, all it took was for one big guild to decide to leave and the whole thing went crashing down. You don’t sit in first place on such a strong server without developing huge egos and a sense of entitlement towards winning. A lot of people on first place servers are there for the easy wins and privileged coverage. When you stop having that, things go south.
People move with their guilds and guilds move with their allies. That’s why so many SoS guilds went to BG (smart people will note how that turned out before transferring again).
The bandwagon effect (and the related sinking ship effect) are very much real in WvW and it will be interesting to see how JQ and DB fair in all of this. If there is one thing that’s been proven time and time again, it’s that the first place server is incredibly vulnerable to fair weather players. Hopefully the players during EMP’s coverage time aren’t going to suffer too much with less allies and the loss of a large organised guild presence.
The server is still very strong without EMP so it’s a far cry from a death sentence, but it’s certainly not a good sign. All it takes is to get the ball rolling to take down a server (whether it’s a slow process like SBI or a fast one like SoS), this could be the domino that does it. It doesn’t help that one of the most prominent recruiters is the one leaving, makes you wonder what’s going on behind the scenes.
My point was exactly as such, it didn’t take one guild leaving putting the strain on SoS, it was multiple… along with other internal factors.
Just saying, stacking a random server in some lower tier doesn’t really work out in the long term, KNG being the exception due to the interference on ANet’s part and resetting the tiers by ratings when free transfers ended. DB is already in T4? But I expect it to be very difficult for them to push past the servers in T2 easily, especially if their only taking half their guild with them.

OCX and AFS , two large wvw guilds, transfer to SOR to add to an already strong off peak coverage (Most of SBI oceanic/asian guilds transferred to SOR).2) JQ, you guys have a better SEA coverage than us. It’s not fair.
-On a Saturday, it was JQ zerg vs SOR zerg towards the end of SEA time zone. SOR zerg got wiped repeatedly.3) JQ, you guys have FOO. FOO should not participate in the match this week. It’s not fair.
-uhhhh.. what?There is a common theme I’ve noticed about Blackgate and JQ. Both know absolutely nothing of SoR.
Everytime I’ve ran with Fear/TW/Hire/Choo, I hardly see wipes, and I follow their commanders daily. I’ve wiped JQ a hell of a lot more times than I’ve seen any of SoR get wiped. So, I’d like to see some decent evidence of you wiping SoR zergs.
Secondly, I was on during the SEA timezone all of last night. We had a zerg of 20. We were map hopping to try to save stuff, but we were losing things left and right because JQ simply PvDoors, and queues up every map while SOR would have to quadrople the size of their online forces to fill up just one map. So, the whole “large guilds stacking on our server” is a flawed argument.
Third, as an NA player that works graveyard so I can play whenever I want on weekends, I’ve hardly ran into this FOO guild. Not entirely sure who they are, but I see a lot of people talk about them and I have a feeling they were the ones PvDooring last night.
All I know is JQ is an overly stacked server that “Wins” based on PvDoor and consistently runs even from zergs that are 1/3 the size of their zerg. If you actually had as much skill as you guys had talk, you’d actually go to a server where you need to compete against players rather than doors instead of hiding behind the masses.
Dang, it is true that JQ players are like Laker fans. Full of crap, big egos, know nothing about the game, and don’t know the difference between an actual win and a dishonorable one.
So, you rarely ever wipe when running around in a 50 man blob, you are always outnumbered 3:1 and everyone runs from you, you have never seen FOO in action, but the ghosts of Jade Quarry knock down all the doors for us…

JQ = #1 off peak coverage. What started as a <2k difference between 3 servers last night ended this morning with a 12k advantage, great job carrying the server as usual FOO!
Not sure why this is a complaint on a Saturday. I played until 3am PST yesterday not because it was overtime but because I like wvw so I didn’t mind playing a bit longer on a night when I know I don’t have work or school the next day. When I woke up this morning, I saw a large JQ force fighting a large SOR force. There were a lot of JQ NA helping out. The SOR force was getting wiped consistently. This went on until late afternoon.
Just stating facts, no idea why JQ is getting all defensive. It’s a great time to wake up to a 12k lead is all, nothing more nothing less.
Kudos to the overnight crew FOO, your server may not give ya the credit you deserve but the rest of us know the hard work you put in after hours. ;D
Pretty sure FoO gets more than enough props for the tears they generate on these forums alone. Though I’m sure Waha appreciates your kind comments and concern for their well being.
I used to call SoR home. I have moved on, but I still had respect for the guild involved in this incident. But interrupting a clearly pre-organised group activity between the other two servers intentionally, for their own entertainment, ruining everybody’s good day? I’m not so sure about that guild’s reputation anymore. I love talking to their members and they are a formidable WvW force. I love fighting them in WvW. But this action is really beyond my understanding.
I know that one individual does not represent the SoR WvW community. But because nobody responsible for this is stepping up to say whether they loved the bags or apologising for their selfish actions, we are left here to judge you by ‘that guy’.
GvG is fun, and many people enjoy doing it, and it’s becoming more and more of a trend in higher tiers nowadays. All the major WvW guilds in T1 knows about the location where this happens, and I am 100% sure that the guild involved in this knew this as well. This is absolutely embarrassing for them and their allies, and I am very, very sure that many other guilds on SoR are not happy about this.

Actually this was not planned to be ruined. No one but the two guilds involved knew about the guild war outside of their servers. We ran into them while walking around.
Yea, you conveniently walked into them south of south camp where there is nothing of WvW point value. Okay.
Now it’s bad to work with the other guilds on your server? Or is it just bad when even when you are working with them you can’t beat your opponents who are also working together.
I mean everyday you see PRX/SF super zergs, or SF/EMP super zergs or AoS/PRX/ACO.
LOTD/HB or ND/URGE/THAI.

There’s nothing bad about cooperation with other guilds, its just entertaining to see guilds get wiped on a map a few times then have others guilds from other maps have to port in to wipe the same team and get a foothold on the map because they were incapable of doing it alone.
And rofl at anyone thinking their something big wiping a 15v15 GvG of people standing still. Keep trying pals.
