Silverwastes chest farm gives tons.
As I already saw in this thread, and in other threads, some people refuse to buy anymore ever again, including myself. So how does that make any money, or make any sense even
Because there is always another “you” coming along and buying keys. And that’s all that is needed, a continuous stream of people who either don’t know the odds or don’t believe the odds or get lucky the first time, so they keep on buying.
You’d still make a ton more if everyone else still were to buy keys because they actually saw it was worth.
Now you know. If you don’t think you’re going to find very many things from the chests useful then spend your money elsewhere.
Yeah I know, that’s what I am going to do. I was just curious if this was normal or if it was just my straw of bad luck, but I guess drop rates are terrible with these chests. And it just doesn’t make sense how they are marketing this to me personally. If I want people to keep buying my stuff, and for them to come back, I’ll make sure they at least get something cool or useful within a certain amount. And I think getting at least 1 cool item out of the 30 (10 chests) could have been possible, and could have encouraged people to keep buying more keys. But no, players like me, who get disappointed wont ever buy another key again.
Would you profit more from people getting something cool every now and then and people keep buying, rather then this where people just get discouraged because they barely ever get anything and don’t want to buy anymore?
Like am I missing something here, because the first options seems to be a lot more profitable.
It prays on hopes and dreams, because there’s always a chance.
If something were impossible, people wouldn’t do it. It’s the hope of that tiny chance that causes ruin.
It’s the nature of gambling, because people think only others are subject to the laws of probability. It’s also unfortunately, extremely profitable, for the one that is the house.
Yeah well I don’t have the time or money to spend on hopes or dreams.
A much better system would be to encourage players to continue to buy keys, which would be perhaps getting something cool or rare every 10 chests or whatever, at least that reinforces people to buy keys still. As I already saw in this thread, and in other threads, some people refuse to buy anymore ever again, including myself. So how does that make any money, or make any sense even. If you want people to buy your stuff and if you want to make money, give people a reason to buy it. I have zero reason to buy another key ever again.
If I would have gotten perhaps 1 rare item at least out of the 10 boxes, I would have been happy and bought more keys in the future.
You must be rich to waste gems, gold, or money on constant keys.
Black Lion Keys are pretty simple.
Don’t buy them unless you are willing to lose every single time.
You could buy hundreds of them and not get anything good. That’s how Anet makes money, they prey upon the weakness of gambling addiction.
Seems like a pretty stupid and advantageous method.
How does encouraging players to use gems to buy keys to get cool stuff work if you don’t get anything cool.
Hell, if I would have at least gotten 1-2 cool items from the 30 items that I got, I’d go ahead and buy more keys in the future and use more of my money to buy gems. That’s a pretty smart idea right?
But no, I guess giving people nothing cool and exciting and just taking their gems and making them never want to buy keys again is a better idea, lol.
i think the problem is you opened 10 chests. that is not a large enough sample size to have any conclusive results.
Which may be true I agree, but 10 keys is like 12 dollars… I’d at least expect one rare item.
I just opened 10 black lion chests. Here were my results:

Well that sucks. Buying Heart of Thorns brings me low FPS, lol. Coulda said somewhere that you’d need a higher graphics card. The core game was just fine.
Why?
All the other maps run fine for me, I buy Heart of Thorns and all of a sudden my FPS drops so much…
And I already run in low graphics.

So my friend had bought this game like a year ago, and he forgot his password, and now when he wanted to get back into the game and play with me, he can’t because it is not letting him reset his password from his e-mail. Instead, it is asking him for his serial key, and he doesn’t have that e-mail anymore. Not sure why that’s a requirement, not even I have my serial key anymore…
What should he do next?
So I started to do the Gates of Maguuma storyline, and then in the 3rd and 4th mission I’ve been kicked out of the game with a network error forcing me to restart the mission.
I am aware that guild hall claiming will be in the new HoT areas. Will a portal spawn and take us into the instance from Lion’s Arch? Or will we actually have to walk to the area from Lion’s Arch as we do with story missions?
I have tried YouTube but everyone has videos where they are already inside the instance.
Also I know one person needs to have one mastery for one of the guild halls. But is gliding required?
Thanks.
Before: Over 3 silver.
Now: 1 silver.
Halloween or HoT?
3500 bags and i got 3 mini devil dogs two hammers and a huge load of crap. but meh, its just a game in the end
A game, where it’s likely the only reason the OP is playing is to enjoy it, which he did not, which is the reason for this thread. So what is your point in saying that it’s “just a game in the end”?
if he dont enjoy RNG maybe he should stop play then? geez, it is just virtual stuff, shrug it off and move on!
Yeah, at the end of the day it is just a game and I admit, it was kind of fun to open 1000 bags, so I totally agree with you that people should just shrug it off. But I really wanted a mini I thought I could at least get one from a thousand bags. I also just found out they aren’t that expensive on the TP though, so I may just buy one there.
By no way am I complaining or ranting about not getting anything expensive or really awesome, it was a fun experience nonetheless. Just wanted to inform people that even with 1000 bags, which seems like a lot, it’s very likely that you may disappointed if you are expecting something big.
So I just opened 1,000 Trick or Treat Bags that I spent quite a good amount of time farming, and probably farming a lot more than the average casual player, and here where my results:
I was really disappointed after only getting one of the new Halloween weapon skins, and not a single mini, no Halloween gifts for crafting, and none of the Halloween gear either. I mean, I understand some of this stuff should be rare, but having less than 0.1% chance drop? That seems kind of harsh. Maybe I am not a hardcore enough gamer, but I think that’s a pretty ridiculously low percentage.
I at least wanted one of the new minis I guess this serves as a lesson to only sell these bags, I could have made over 50 gold.
So I see a lot of old players coming back and being really confused on the new guild changes and asking questions in map chat and on the forums here. Because of this, and to sort of strengthen my own knowledge of the whole system I decided to make a video explaining the whole system about the different type of currencies, the point of your guild level, and the new guild missions.
Hopefully this will clear some things up for newer players and veterans who may be confused. Hope you enjoy!
What’s the point of player levels?
Is it just to time gate content, because that’s what it seems like.
Well yeah, but I just don’t get the point of guild level. I mean, it could have worked just without guild levels too. The experience you get towards guild level ARE the upgrades. And the upgrades ARE the prerequisites.
You can’t upgrade Y until you upgrade X. Just seems kind of redundant to add a level requirement on it too. Then again my guild is only level 3 and we just got our guild hall so maybe I don’t understand it all that well.
The way I am thinking of it is like this:
Upgrade A so you can upgrade B and C. Upgrade B and C so you can upgrade D. That is a prerequisite system.
Be level 2 to upgrade A, be level to 3 to upgrade B and C. Be level 4 to upgrade D. That is a level system.
Aren’t they both the same. That’s what I mean by redundant, because both of them are in the game.
What’s the point of it? Is it just to time gate guild mission slots, because that’s what it seems like. You can’t really gain any experience for your guild level over time from doing anything other than upgrading your guild, and the only way to upgrade your guild, you need a certain guild level. Seems kind of redundant since you need pre-requisites for upgrades anyway.
There is too much gold in the economy, lol, yeah kittening right. Go on gw2efficiency and you’ll see how poor most of the community is.
I use ZXCV for attunements.
Nope.
you need to make a team from your Guild, not just party.
check your guild you can make pvp teams, make one and list your party guildee in it, then do the guild mission.
Wow, that’s so kittening stupid. No where in the guild mission does it say that I need to do that. And if I remember clearly, in the Guild Panel’s index where they give you all the information, under Guild Missions, nowhere does it say I need to create a team in that tab. And on the Guild Teams Tab, there’s nothing. A blank screen with zero instruction of what it does, or when to use it.
Things need to be explained better please. Because there isn’t even a Guild Teams section in the index, and I basically just wasted 3 hours yesterday with my friends trying to achieve something that was unachievable because of a lack of guidance and direction.
did you make a team ?
I invited 2 of my other guildees to play with me in a party, yeah. If that’s what you mean by creating a team, yes.
Just happened again.
I just played 3 Stronghold missions with my guild, each time starting the mission before entering a game and the last one we just played we won. We didn’t get credit for it even. I waited the time remaining for it to hit zero, and it says we failed, and we clearly won because I had the double crossed swords pop up on my screen and I had just stomped the lord.
Please fix. Thanks.
Yeah, this could be something that could be looked into. However, I think that ANet intended the reward to be the upgrade.
This honestly isn’t even that good of a way to gain mastery points. Events end up giving you way more experience, and end up being a lot more fun and engaging in my opinion. The only way this method works, is if you have boosters, and those run out soon, and are limited. So if people end up doing this, they’ll eventually be gated by lack of boosters, since without boosters it takes pretty long and isn’t worth it.
I’ve been up to this point quiet lenient with ANet’s decisions, and also very understanding. But today I ran into this:
One or more of your party members is too low to participate in this game mode.
This was in PVP. Why in the hell is this system changing. Before, I could play PVP with all of my friends, and we could play all the game modes. I am level 34 PVP, my friend is like 27, and my gf is 5, because she just started PVP, last week we all played together. Now today, we get this error message. I end up googling and finding out you have to be level 10 to do Conquest and Courtyard and are forced to play Stronghold until you are level 10.
Now this just really doesn’t make any sense to me. My gf was doing perfectly fine in Conquest and Courtyard. Why do you now have to be level 10? Please, please, please, change this. This really will discourage people from playing PvP with guildees when they realize some of their guild members aren’t the required level and have to play Stronghold.
On a positive note, you at least made one of the guild missions for Stronghold, so at least that is still completable. But why time gate conquest by a level requirement. Just doesn’t make much sense to me :/
Oh I know but, just thought it was weird why there was only Medium and Hard.
Here is what I am seeing for my guild. I have a small guild, where are the easy missions for my guild?
Thanks.
I’ll play the hypocrite and apologize for you for apologizing for others.
No thanks. Because the things that I’ve seen in map chat, forums, and Reddit are uncalled for and plainly rude and disrespectful. You can voice your opinion and give feedback without being a kitten. It is possible.
There comes a time when the kid gloves come off and you deal with adults as adults. Including saying/writing things that might not be all hugs and cuddles.
Still doesn’t justify it as right or okay. I am an adult and I certainly don’t call “this xpac is garbage, so much for the hype train kittening idiots” as adult talk.
Believe me I understand where you’re coming from. But my post is mainly towards those who talk like that quoted message in map chat and come on the forums to only complain, list no suggestion, and have no respect to then never come back to their own thread.
No. Now get out we’re all busy complaining about Heart of Thorns.
Lol, jk. You used to be able to get NCSoft Gem Cards at stores. Not sure if you still can, but I’d google it.
ppl have been asking for this since GW1, good luck on that
i knew people adored me but i had no idea
but to clarify, im not asking for a minipet that mirror’s the person using it…..im asking anet to sell a minipet…..of me, to everyone
You’re funny.
I’ll play the hypocrite and apologize for you for apologizing for others.

The OP is not saying you do not have the right to complain. OP is pointing out you are complaining in a RUDE way. You have no social graces. There is a way to get a point across without being rude. Catch with honey not vinegar.
Yes, thank you. This is what I’m saying.
I think a lot of the negativity, mine included, comes from the fact that many people loved or still kinda love the game and want to see it last many years. Unfortunately, it becomes evident over time, though, that the game is predictably problem laden.
I think some of the most vocal opponents to HoT have many valid reasons to be vocal and the inability to “play how you want” shines very intenesly after the new patch. Prior to this it was general lack of “equality” being given to the 3 main game divisions: pve, wvw, and pvp. Now it is completely gated by pve to progress equally in the 3.
Well I get that. But do you really think they intended to do that? I can’t see them purposely doing so for a game they love. So I don’t see why people have to treat the xpac as if it’s trash.
Ok, so it’s been a few days now since the expansion has been released. And ever since then, I’ve been seeing a lot of negative comments, and even bashings going on from the community towards ArenaNet. I’ve seen everything from “this expansion sucks”, to “ArenaNet screwed up again”, to “gg ArenaNet what a waste of time”. There’s been worse and there’s been better.
I really don’t like the fact that people have to be this rude, and this harsh about a game. I mean, we’ve all been wanting new content, we’ve all be wanting raids, we’ve all been wanting guild halls, and they’ve given it to us. If anything, a lot of the things we do ask for, they give us, and if not, they at least consider it and reply to us and actually give us feedback. I have played many MMO’s before where developers don’t reply to you, and don’t give a crap and have the mentality of “if you don’t like the game, don’t play it”. At least when we have complaints here, such as veterans not getting anything for pre-purchasing, or certain classes being too overpowered, or whatever it may be, ANet has listened and given us something, or fixed things that we didn’t like. Besides, they are still running a business, and business can get ugly sometimes, but people need to stop thinking they are just some bosses behind their desk that just want to screw us over for money constantly.
I think it’s really rude and heartless to bring people down and call someone’s work a piece of trash when they’ve put time and effort into it. And this isn’t everyone, but I know for a fact that there are more people making threads to complain and swear about something than praise it. I mean I do YouTube and make videos for Guild Wars 2 (“Gaming with GS” if you’re interested), and if I invest a lot of time in a video and people comment negative things, yeah it brings me down sometimes. So I know that devs reading the forums or reddit seeing people trash their work can affect them too. I for one like the expansion, and I appreciate the work that they’ve put into it. Yeah, maybe there are some bugs, maybe there are some things that need to be changed or rethought, maybe people still are running Zerker gear, maybe it does suck that you can’t use your elite spec for most of the story, but at least they tried. And if we don’t like something we can post about, we can give our opinions, but not in a way that I’ve seen in some of these threads.
I play with my gf, and best friend, and we’ve made some great friends on this game and are loving the expansion. And if we find a problem with something we’ll post on here, but we certainly won’t sit here and rant and bash the developers for something that we don’t like. Some people on here need to have better manners and realize that we’re all still human, and we all have the ability to screw up. So with that said, thank you ArenaNet, for making this expansion that we’ve all been waiting for and for continuing to put up with our crap and looking past those who just want to bring negativity to the community and still caring.
And by no way am I trying to glorify ANet, because I know no one’s perfect. I just think that in past few days some people have really been inconsiderate and not thought about what they are posting.
Where can you purchase favor with influence? I don’t see that npc was looking last night.
You get guild exp through upgrades.
Yes please. I would refund. I use my commander tag more like a mentor tag.
This sucks. Took me so long to get 300g for the commander tag. Now I can get one for free? -sign- I love Anets efforts and stuff, but a lot of things in the xpac are really like… screwing over players. If it’s not guilds, it’s this tag.
(edited by maniamsmart.7981)
@Cookiez, Thanks for the info. This really sucks and discourages me now. I lead guild of 12, and half of them don’t really know how to make much easy gold. If anything my best friend, gf, and I and maybe one other member have over 100 gold. I feel as if we’re going to be in the “out of luck” category
Yeah I actually really liked the fact that we had to work together to come up with the materials, and maybe I have not yet seen some of the later upgrades because I don’t even have my guild hall, but from what I did see it does cost a lot.
I saw like 20 gold, 30 gold, 50 gold, for certain upgrades, and that’s a lot. Asking for people to donate gold would be a great idea, which is what I am doing for my guild hall. So far we are at 22/100 gold. But then again, those who don’t have HoT, won’t really want to donate their gold, so that limits the guild too. Least with influence they could still be doing events, getting gold, exp, loot, and still help the guild with influence. Now, they can’t.
So I know there is no more influence. And for the most part I love the update, every bit of it. But we used to be rewarded for doing dungeons, open-world events, world bosses, etc together with our guild. This used to be influence. I don’t see the same happening for favor, why was this taken out? It was a great way to hang out with your guild if guild missions were down to gather together and do dungeons, events to still earn points. I feel like guilds are kind of limited now.
Glad you found it helpful I was really confused too and had to do research x.x
So the wiki isn’t really updated for it, and I see a lot of questions on here and in map chat in-game. So I decided to make a video about all the things you can do and get this year for Halloween. Hopefully you find it helpful
Or at least some of you.
If content is too short and easy, people complain.
If content is too long and hard, people complain.
And yes I am referring to the elite specializations, the mastery system, etc.
Please make up your mind on what you want.
For the love of god. Ok so I have to go on youtube to watch Living Story 1, then pay for Living Story 2, then I’ll be caught up?
I heard the living story stuff was originally free? Why the hell did they start charging for it later? God kitten it. Really frustrating
Living World was never really ever free. It was awarded to you for logging in upon each episode’s release. If you didn’t log in, you didn’t get it. Hence, you pay the gems. So even some veteran players will not have it unlocked.
It’s not here this year. It’s going to be here this year. They apparently ran into problems with it, according to someone’s post in another thread.
Each hero challenge in New maps gives 10 points you need 400.
