Thanks for the info? Did anyone do the dungeon yet and see what you get. The release page says you get rare unique things.

I don’t know if it’s just me, or they didn’t really explain the Halloween event very well in the patch notes. My understanding is that 2012 Halloween content is available this year correct? I see a lot of things on the wiki that were available in 2012 and not this year, for example those mini dungeons.

What exactly is available this year for Halloween content? The Wiki isn’t updated yet and patch notes don’t really give a good listing. I don’t want to miss out on anything this year so can anyone tell me?

I know there is the jumping puzzle, the labyrinth, the Ascent dungeon, Mad King Says, 3 new minis from ToT bags, a Bat Wing glider on the gem store, Halloween black lion weapons, and pumpkin carving along with achievements. Is that it? And what does the dungeon even give for rewards? I know Mad King Says and Labyrinth and jumping puzzle give ToT bags. There is some information on the wiki about what the dungeon gives but I highly doubt it’s up to date since a lot of 2012 content is not in this years.

So seeing as barely anything is updated in the wiki (understandably), anyone know how the new squad UI works? I tried having 1 of my guild members join my squad yesterday, yet I saw no squad UI come up. They right clicked my commander tag and joined.

Any thing I am missing here?

So is this just the Shackles of Madness Skin? What other new items? I see the same items from last year. Where are the new minis? I have been looking for them from any of the candy corn vendors but none of them have it. And what about all the other cool new skins they released like the mummy backpack, or the pumpkin head hammer?

I already know the bat wings are from gem store. But yeah… anyone know anything about the new items from the vendors, or the minis and stuff?

The character slows are given out on Fridays. So you probably just missed it because of when you purchased. You should get it tomorrow when HoT releases

Is anyone else still waiting for their free character slot when they upgraded from GW2 base game to GW2 Heart of Thorns? My friend, girlfriend and I had bought it last last Friday, or Saturday I believe, and my friend who was new to the game already got GW2 and HoT, but my girlfriend and I still haven’t gotten our character slots for upgrading for pre-purchase. Anyone else still waiting?

So I finally finished making my ascended armor, and it was such a pain, and took so long. I finally did finish it though and I am very satisfied with it. For those of you who don’t know where to even begin or don’t know what ascended armor is even, I made a video explaining it as well as giving you a step by step guide on what to do for your ascended gear if you’re looking to craft it like me. I say let them make outfits, because the fact that the game is free, they need to make money somehow. So if they make money off of the outfits then leave them be. But I will agree with you on the fact that we need more armor styles, many of the 1-70 armors pretty much all look very similar.

Personally I always go PVT for anything that I want to be tanky. You are right that toughness does lower the damage you take but the extra Vit can help that by also making this true for any cond damage or environment effects that make be taking it’s toll. So having both just makes them both better and they both support each other is what I guess I am saying I guess.

You want to be a better healer tho so I can see your dilemma you want to have that extra healing power so you have to choose between Toughness and Vit. That’s not for me to answer so I hope I helped somewhat lol…

But I could go Healing Power / Toughness / Vitality no? Because I know there is a gear set out that supports those stats? Or do you that wouldn’t be a good idea then because I do no damage? I mean for groups it would be great, which is what I intend on using my Guardian for.

No, when I pick a title, I pick one that suits my character, not based on the difficulty of it. I like many tittles, in fact there should be more.

I am trying to make my guardian a tanky support healer. However, I am not sure which stats I should be focusing on. I know need to be focusing on Healing Power, but then should I also be focusing on Toughness and Vitality? Or just Toughness and some Power? I don’t really understand why getting Vitality would be necessary if you have a ton of toughness. Toughness brings damage down, so then you would have a bunch of health left still because of reduced damage, but then why not just go full Vitality, because then you have tons of health and even high damage can still sustain yourself well with heals and the ton of health. So I guess I am asking if I should go HP/TGH/VIT or HP/TGH/PW or what?

I know everyone’s been saying it doesn’t affect chests. But whenever I do World Bosses, I rarely ever get rares. I’ve tested two times now with 200+ Magic Find with boosters, and both times I got 2-4 rares in chests. Yet without boosters I have around 110 and don’t get that many rares ever from chests.

Anyone know if there is a way to see what time it is in game, I am not talking about the server time, but the actual time in Tyria. I know there is a day to night cycle, but it would be really cool if we had a command or somewhere in the options to toggle the time on for the world to know what time it is and when it turns night or day. It’s just a neat little thing to have, and I know Everquest II had it by typing in /time, so maybe something like that could be incorporated if there isn’t already a way to see.

Zerker should still be a safe bet since Elementalists are still one of the top direct damage classes in the game. Though, I’d probably hold off till the builds becomes more stable since we’ll see a lot of balance adjustment the next few weeks.

So I’ve been playing Elementalist for a while now, and I was just wondering what the ideal stats are to focus on? I always feel like Elementalists should focus on Power, Precision, and Condition Damage, but then I see everyone is saying every class should just go Power, Precision, Ferocity. At one point I feel like I should go those stats since Mesmers tend to put more conditions on, so they should go Condition Damage more over Elementalists, but I don’t know. Any advice?

Hi I made a really good friend on GW2, but he is on another server, so we can’t play WvW together (which sucks.), so we decided that EoTM could work. But he is on the other team, is there a way I can join his overflow or something, I don’t know how to do it, do I have to guest on his server or what?

Who needs Jute Scraps? Everyone who wishes to advance through the first 50 levels of either Tailoring, Armorsmithing, and Leatherworking.

If roughly more or less 100 jute scraps is minimal to get beyond the first tier of crafting then sure, but I know several people, including myself, who didn’t want to waste money buying 100 Jute Scraps, nor have the gold even for it at the low levels of crafting that I started to craft. This is also just for tailoring, you’ll need even more than just 100 for the others all together, perhaps even 2.5 or triple that value.

The last time I did promoting, I made 25 gold, and that was through farming for the jute scraps. It took me about a week to get them all, and then promote 5 times with the 1 skill point. So if 25 gold for a week of farming seems profitable than you, then I guess so, if not then, I guess not depends on the person and their preference.

Also, I should also note that most of my videos are done by request, if people message me asking how to get jute scraps, which a couple of my friends have, along with a couple of my subscribers, then I make the video. Apart from that, it’s the start of a series where I will be going over the more expensive crafting materials as well. I guess it just felt right to start with the lowest tiers.

There was a patch today. The first step of the patch process is to download then new version of the executable and then it restarts with the new executable and downloads the rest of the patch files. It is possible that something blocked the automatic update of the GW2.EXE file. This can happen due to windows security or antivirus settings that prevent software that is not a windows installer to update files in “C:\Program Files”.

You might try this. Go to the Guild Wars 2 accounts page and download the GW2Setup.exe (the game installer). Go to your Guild Wars 2 directory and delete the GW2.EXE and any .TMP files you find there. Be sure you do not accidentally delete the .DAT file. Copy the GW2Setup.exe (from the Guild Wars 2 account site) to that directory and rename it to GW2.EXE. Then try running it as an administrator and see if that will fix your issue.

I also suggest you think about moving your Guild Wars 2 directory out of the C:\Program Files to something like C:\Games. Depending on your settings, Windows (and virus software) can get very recalcitrance about allowing external update tools to change files in the C:\Program Files directories. This is even more likely if you are not running GW2 as an administrator. This protection can result in botch updates and corrupted or quarantined files.

So, last night I played Guild Wars 2 perfectly fine till 3 AM, then this afternoon I wanted to play it again, I click the icon as I usually do and the game launcher won’t even pop up. I am not sure what to do.

Any help?

P.S I tried the -repair method at the end of the target line with a new shortcut, and the repair client did not pop up either.

I also tried disabling all my firewalls, and closing all other background applications.

So I also can’t even uninstall the game, I right click it in the Programs list and click Uninstall and nothing happens. I have no idea how within less than 12 hours everything just ends up not working anymore, makes no sense. All other games work like League of Legends.

Made sure all video drivers are up to date as well.

The average amount of common mats you get is not influenced by the rarity of the kit but the item you salvage.
A chestpiece yields more than a glove, a 2 handed weapon yields more than a 1 handed weapon.

True, but I do remember salvaging a chestplate and sometimes getting 2, other times getting 3. So I was wondering if that is affected by the rarity. But that’s pretty interesting that each item still has its own percentage of rare materials through salvage.

So yeah, I know salvaging kit rarity does matter in some instances. But say I am salvaging a piece of clothing for example. This piece of clothing is a robe, you are supposed to get 2-3 scraps of x, and a chance at a rarer material scraps of y.

If we take a heavy chest piece in the level range of 50-60, we can either get 1-3 plat ores, and rare finds of mithril ore. Since plat ores are more valuable than mithril, then you should be getting the crude salvaging kit to ensure you don’t get any mithril. However, does that also affect the amount of plat ores you get. If I use a crude salvaging kit will I get 1 ore, and if I use a fine one will I get 3, because getting 3 plat ores is also rare? Or does salvaging kit rarity only affect the type of item, not the quantity.

Reason why I am asking is because I made a video on YouTube below, and one of my viewers stated that I was wasting gold when buying fine salvaging kits to salvage my items because I was getting rare materials, such as mithril which is less valuable then plat. I responded with that I bought the fine to ensure that I get 3 plat ores, instead of 2 or 1. He responded then that it salvaging kit rarity did not affect the quantity only the item type, hence quality.

I hope it’s the expansion as well. GW2 is popular because there is no monthly fee, and turning it into P2W will lose them a lot of players.

Can you play this game mode with your party members? I have tried to do it, and it just puts us in different games. Is there a trick to it? Or does it just not work? I think it sucks if you can’t play with your friends, like why not? I don’t understand.

Hi, manimsmart. So, as it turns out, that piece is not included in the soundtrack compilation sold by Direct Song. That’s something we have no control over, unfortunately.

It’s part of a small collection of music that we categorized as “cinematic”. The idea was that, during the limited cinematics where characters talk with each other (like in the video you linked), there would be a selection of pieces that designers could choose to loop beneath the dialogue in order to set the mood. Not every designer took advantage of them, and since we no longer do limited cinematics in any of the content post-launch, they don’t get heard much.

I’m not sure what our options are as far as posting that stuff on Soundcloud, but I will look into it. Please understand that I make no guarantees that we’ll be able to release it.

Wow, thanks Gaile! I am surprised I actually got a response from an official staff member, rarely do I see something like that on any game forums. Keep up the good work, and I’ll be eager to hear back to get the name of that song. I heard it once again in one of the last story missions as well, just beautiful.

Yeah, I looked in a lot of places too. You may be right, perhaps it hasn’t been released. But I heard that same song when I was fighting the Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan at the end of the quest ‘Source of Orr’, so that’s two places I’ve heard it now. Maybe someone else knows, I am hoping for more answers from any GW music lovers.

In the personal story quest ‘Retribution’, at the end of the quest there is a cutscene and there is music playing, I need to know the name of that song, it’s so relaxing and beautiful.
