The Difference Between Ascended & Exotic Gear

in Players Helping Players

VIDEO VERSION OF THIS POST IS HERE: https://youtu.be/gc4jG9b7NG0

One of the biggest questions I had when first playing the game, and a question I see many new players also asking is whether ascended gear is worth it? What’s the difference between ascended gear and exotic gear? Do I need ascended gear? And depending on what game mode you play, and what content you play, the answer can vary.

Based on a power Elementalist build I have, and comparing damage in the testing arena with exotic gear and ascended gear (excluding trinkets) and similar rotations, exotic gear damage comes fairly close to ascended gear damage. On average, exotic gear yields 15,151 DPS, while ascended gear yields 15,994 DPS. That’s a difference of 843 DPS. So damage wise, there isn’t too huge of a difference, in fact, food and utility gives a higher boost in damage than the upgrade from exotic to ascended gear does, which is already surprising to me! And with ascended trinkets on both tests, the gap is even smaller at only about 600 DPS.

So then why buy ascended gear, and when should you buy ascended gear? Well, the same argument which was made for my food and utility video can be made here; over the course of time that 843 damage will stack up and accumulate to huge amounts. Over the course of 15 minutes, the average length of a dungeon, raid and fractal, you’ll be able to gain up to 765,000 extra damage with ascended gear, compared to using exotic gear, if in continuous combat.

Ascended gear is also required to add infusions. Infusions are required for high scale fractals to have agony resistance. Since exotic gear doesn’t have infusion slots, this is another reason why you’d want to get ascended gear. As far as trinkets go however, while these do also have infusion slots, they are far more superior than exotic trinkets. With the ease of access to ascended trinkets, it’s also recommended that players get ascended trinkets over exotic ones. As stated above, the gap is even smaller in damage when ascended trinkets are applied to exotic gear and weapons.

So here are the key points to take away from ascended gear vs exotic gear:

  • Ascended Armor + Ascended Weapon DPS: 15,994.6
Exotic Armor + Exotic Weapon DPS: 15,151.6
    Difference: 843
Ascended Armor + Ascended Weapon + Ascended Trinkets DPS: 25,309.2
Exotic Armor + Exotic Weapon + Ascended Trinkets DPS: 24,698.6
    Difference: 610.6
  • Ascended trinkets are far better than exotic trinkets. Get them.
  • Ascended armor and weapons cost 8-10 times the amount that exotic armor and weapons cost. They do not however, improve your stats 8-10 times. The difference is actually quite small.
  • Ascended gear is needed to slot agony infusions for higher level fractals.
  • Ascended gear is great for raids and fractals, as the continuous combat will stack up the damage pretty high even with a difference of only 843 DPS.
  • Ascended gear is not required, all content in-game can be completed, and has been completed without it (excluding high tier fractals).
  • Ascended gear is more of an additional goal or milestone in the game for optimal and maxed out stats.
  • The choice is essentially up to you, is a bit of extra damage worth all the gold and effort? Are you a completionist? Do you like to max stats? Do you want to be more competent in raids and provide the most amount of damage possible? Then get ascended gear. Otherwise, get the trinkets and you’ll be just fine.

That pretty much sums up all the points I have to share which I think are important and valuable for players. If you have your own opinions and thoughts on ascended gear vs exotic gear, please leave them down below. I could have missed some things, and if I did, I’d love to learn about them! Thanks for reading and hopefully you found this helpful!

NOTE: These numbers are based on all boons and buffs.

Impact of Food/Utility Items - Really Worth?

VIDEO VERSION OF THIS POST IS HERE: https://youtu.be/pcFR8kDICQI

Food, utility, and fractal potions are three (more so the former two), of the things in Guild Wars 2 several players overlook, especially new players, and casual players. While food and utility items may not make a huge difference in your play-style, and while some of them may seem like a waste of money, over time and in certain situations they can be very useful!

I made a video about the entire topic, discussing how damage is calculated, which stats are affected the most by food and utility, which foods and utility are worth getting and which aren’t, and so on. However, below is a short list of some of the key concepts from the video I’d like to share.

  • Offensive food and utility items give a significant boost in damage, especially at level 80. You can gain up to 1,000 bonus damage per second, and even more with fractal potions, and specific creature utilities. This can boost your damage up to +1,000,000 over the course of 15-20 minutes in an average fractal or dungeon.
  • Defensive food still feels a bit inferior to offensive food. However, if interested, toughness food tends to do pretty well, saving yourself up to 250 damage per hit. In situations where many enemies are hitting you, or an enemy is hitting very quickly, this can save you a ton of health.
  • Vitality food is great if your build benefits from it, or if some of your traits interact with vitality. Otherwise, gaining an extra 700-1,000 health, in my opinion, isn’t that game-changing.
  • In regular PVE content, such as doing world completion, exploration, hearts, or even some of the weaker world bosses, food and utility will not make a significant difference. This is because you won’t be killing many things over the course of time that your foods and utilities exist.
  • In fractals, dungeons, and raids, you’ll get a significant amount of benefit out of your food and utility items, because you’ll constantly be in combat, constantly be doing damage, and getting the benefit from your foods and utility. This, with the fact that most of these items last about 30 minutes, make them perfect for these game modes. WvW could be a great place too.
  • Healing power food and utility will not give you much benefit either. Because of how healing is calculated, and because most skill scaling factors for group heals are below 1, your healing power ends up getting truncated. Multiplying a large number by a fraction, makes it smaller. Hence, getting food that boosts healing power by 70, will give you significantly less than 70 points extra because of scaling factors. Not to mention, healing power also doesn’t scale very well by point values.
  • All food and utility that gives percentage based boosts are well worth it as they tend to give far more than the regular double-digit and triple-digit values. These include magic find, karma find, boon duration, condition duration, and some instances even power and damage. For example, if a utility item gives you 10% extra power, and your character has 2500 power, you’ll gain 250 extra power, far more than any double or triple-digit value food will give.

That pretty much sums up all the points I have to share which I think are important and valuable for players. If you have your own opinions and thoughts on food and utility items, please leave them down below. I could have missed some things, and if I did, I’d love to learn about them! Thanks for reading and hopefully you found this helpful!

7 Must Know Tips to Improve in PVP

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maniamsmart.7981

maniamsmart.7981

4. Fight on point.

PvP ranked games are based on a conquest style game type. You capture a point and hold it to gain points. If you leave the point, you risk the chance of losing the point. If you’re going to help defend a point or try to gain another point, fine, leave the point. But if you’re leaving to fight someone in a random location, why? You may risk dying, and then on top of that even losing your point. Fight within the boundaries of each capture point and you’ll be much better off. Not only that, but the players that know how to play PvP will be at those capture locations, so if you die you can get revived. If you need help, they’ll help you. No one is going to help you if your stuck at your base fighting someone trying to waste your time.

5. Decapping is good, you don’t need to fully cap every point.

While it is better to fully cap every point you can decap from the enemy to gain your team points, if it’s not possible don’t force it. If you decapped a point already, you made progress, you accomplished something, you’ve helped your team by stopping the enemy team from gaining points from the capture point you just decapped. If you see 2 enemies coming at you and you know you won’t win the fight, run away and help your team somewhere else. Worst scenario is they cap the point back, but if you stay there, and they kill you, not only will they have gotten the point, but also another 5 points from your death. if it’s a close game, decapping can also be helpful as it stops the enemy team from gaining points and gives you an edge to keep defending and rack more points up.

6. Know when to run, and know when to fight.

If it’s 3v1, don’t try to be the hero and revive your team mate, you may just die right along with him. If you see 2 enemies coming to your point, don’t just stand there and let them kill you, if you have no sustain or a good way to keep your health up, rather just run and be helpful somewhere else. I am not saying run from every fight, but I am saying make smart decisions. There’s plenty of times where you can fight and get some kills, but if 3 people are middle, and you’re the only one going middle, what’s the point? Know when to back off, help, run, or stand your ground.

7. Don’t be a jerk.

Everyone’s playing PvP to have fun, and improve. Sure there might be some trolls who don’t care and want to ruin your day, but for the most part that’s not the case. Instead of bashing people and telling them they suck and should uninstall or “go back to PVE”, help them, and give them advice in what they could do better. If you’re helping one person with some valuable information, they could learn that and then pass it on as well. Sitting and complaining and bashing won’t help you win any games; and besides we’re all still human here, and it’s all still a game. And if a match ends, and you have nothing positive or nice to say, then just leave. Having you stay there to talk trash, be negative, or make snarky comments without even saying GG, makes you look like an kitten , could get you reported, and makes the whole point of PvP not even fun anymore. Be respectful.

There are plenty of other tips that I could have given here as far as objectives go, team comps, pinging, and the such, but I felt these are all the general, basic, and most important for any player, new, old, skilled, unskilled, guardian, mesmer, bronze, or gold. You could be the best mesmer in the world, and know how to 2v1 or even 3v1, but if you don’t know how to work with your team, how to cooperate, communicate, and make decisions based on the map and your team’s status, you’ll lose more than you’ll win.

PvP is about how well you can work with others, and how well you can observe what the other team is doing and act to counter it. PvP isn’t about you… that’s what the personal story is for.

Thanks for reading, and hope you found it helpful! Feel free to leave your own tips down below and further suggestions or questions.

7 Must Know Tips to Improve in PVP

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maniamsmart.7981

maniamsmart.7981

VIDEO VERSION OF THIS POST IS HERE: https://youtu.be/QgS5x4c1faM

PvP may not be as popular currently as it was last season, or at any other time. With people upset about the ascended gear change, that’s no surprise. You’d think only the people who really want to PvP or are any good at it then would remain, but you’re wrong. Today I’d like to give you the top 7 tips, in my opinion, and from the top of my head, that will help you improve in PvP and become a better PvP player. These may not be THE top 7 tips, but I think they are very important and crucial to remember and understand.

1. Don’t die. Or try not to as much.

I am not saying don’t die at all, since that’s very difficult, but try to control your deaths and avoid dying as much as possible. Each death gives the enemy team an additional 5 points, and we’ve all had games where we’ve lost by 5-10-15 points. If we would have died 2-3 times less, we could have won. Try to have some healing, defense, and support skills in your build to help you and your team from dying too much. Otherwise have a strong aggressive kit that you know you will win in a 1v1. Follow the rest of these tips and you’ll die less too.

2. Look at the map, and understand it.

So many people either don’t look at the map, or look at the map but don’t understand what they are actually looking at. Before you make a move to attack or defend a point or objective, look at the map. Are you going to be outnumbered? Does the rest of your team already have it under control? Could you be useful somewhere else? Is it a dumb idea to go middle, when there’s 3 enemies there, and one of your other team mates already died being the only one there? Look at the map and take note of where your team and the enemy team is, and then decide what you want to do.

3. Look at people’s health bars, and decide what to do.

If you see a team mate struggling in a 1v1 to defend a point, help them. If you see a team mate killing another person in a 1v1 to defend a point, help someone else or stay on the point you are now and defend. Looking at health bars can help decide the state of your team and where you’re needed. It can also help decide when to use heal skills, condition cleanse skills, boons, and other supportive and defensive abilities. When your team is full health, there’s no point in using your heal skill because no one needs it. Don’t just spam all your skills, and hope for the best. Look at your team and you, and make a decision on what skills to use.

Replacement for AB Farm - Fractal 40 Farm

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maniamsmart.7981

maniamsmart.7981

If you’ve been looking for a replacement for the Auric Basin multi-loot gold making method, try the fractal 40 farm. All you’ll need is some damage gear, some damage boosting food, agony resistance of at least 43, option fractal offensive, defensive, and speed potions, and a powerful scarlet’s armies potion.

Doing this fractal over and over can net you up to 40 gold if done quickly and efficiently. For a full video guide check my latest gold guide out below:

Easiest Heart of Thorns Mastery Points

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maniamsmart.7981

VIDEO VERSION OF THIS POST IS HERE: https://youtu.be/vOUpJ8WcC5E

Hi again,

A while ago I made a video/post on the easiest Core Tyria mastery points (will link that at bottom of post), and a lot of people seemed to enjoy it, and found it extremely helpful. Since then I’ve gotten requests on the easiest HoT mastery points, so here’s the list of things you should have already done, or should be doing to get some easy points if you’re low.

Easy Adventures
Each adventure can give you up to 2 mastery points, 1 for earning a silver medal, and 1 for earning a gold medal. Below are the top 5 easiest adventures to do. So if you haven’t done them yet, do them. Every adventure can also pretty much be found on YouTube so you could take some time to do them all if you really wanted to.

  • Flying Circus: In Verdant Brink, you just glide through rings and get to the finish line. Gliding 2 required, but if you have 4 and 5, it’s much easier.
  • Salvage Pit: In Verdant Brink, you just gather scrap metal from the floor in a small pit and avoid getting slowed. If you have speed mushrooms, this becomes much easier too.
  • On Wings of Gold: In Auric Basin, you just gather the gold orbs in the sky and in the updrafts, and once you have a ton bring them back to the collection device. Gliding 2 required for this one.
  • Ley-Line Run: In Tangled Depths, you just go through an obstacle course as a spark, and get to the finish line using the skills. May take some time getting used to the skills, and learning the run, but is very easy afterwards.
  • Drone Race: In Tangled Depths, you just go through an obstacle course in a drone car and use your skills to drive up ramps and fly through checkpoints. Can be very fun and easy, and if you have the Itzel Lore mastery which makes you immune to the poison, this can be even easier.

Mastery Insights
Each map in Heart of Thorns, and even the new maps all have mastery insights. All they require is for you to get to a specific location and commune with it like a hero point. There are close to 30 mastery insights right now in-game, that’s almost 30 easy points there. A few may require higher levels of gliding, but that’s why I suggest doing the adventures first, less demanding.

The wiki page for the mastery insights will be linked below, and you can just copy and paste the names of them in YouTube and there will be guides to them, can read walkthroughs on the wiki too.

Strongboxes
Similar to the mastery insights, the Heart of Thorns maps also have a set of strongboxes in each map. If you find them, each gives you another mastery point as well. These can be found under the Heart of Thorns map sections in the Achievements panel. Just like insights, you can find walkthroughs on the wiki, and YouTube by copy and pasting the strongbox.

With all of these done, you should be able to easily accumulate 50+ Heart of Thorns mastery points. If you’re very low on them, or are new to the game, this should be a easy boost in points for you.

Hope you found this helpful, and be sure to look at the links below for more information and help!

Blood Ruby, Petrified Wood & Winterberry Farm

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maniamsmart.7981

maniamsmart.7981

VIDEO VERSION OF THIS GUIDE: https://youtu.be/0l3Vg3w8Pyc

Just in case people are still not quite on board with what the big deal with these new maps are, and why you should be farming for some of these map currencies such as petrified wood, blood rubies, and fresh winterberries, here’s why and how.

For one, you can make some gold by salvaging and consuming the currencies for unbound magic. That unbound magic can then be converted into packets and bundles from the unbound magic vendors which can then be opened and profit can be made from selling the loot.

For two, you can get some pretty neat minis, that are all very cool. So if you like collecting those, or just want a new one, there’s a whole lot of them now with these 3 new maps released.

And for three, which I think is the best thing to do, is gear up your characters with ascended trinkets since they have ALL the stats, and ANY stats in the game to chose from. If you want that Commander Guardian, here are the easy trinkets with those stats that don’t require you to PVP or Raid to get them. But the cost, is a ton of unbound magic, and a lot of the map currency too. So how do you get so much of each from each map? See the below list of ways to get each of the currencies, and hopefully you’ll be able to make this a routine of yours every day to get those numbers up for each of the currencies.

UNBOUND MAGIC

- Completing each of the dailies in the new maps.

- Champion boxes and loot from killing enemies in the new maps.

- Skritt stashes in Ember Bay (you do need to use 1 Petrified Wood to buy a contract).

- Collecting the blue spherical orbs floating in the new maps.

- Gathering Bloodstone Crystals, Petrified Stumps, and Winterberry Bushes in the new maps.

- Getting Unbound Magic Harvesting tools and harvesting anywhere in Tyria (can be bought from the Asuran assistant hear vendor in Ember Bay by Lava Flats.

- Obviously also by salvaging and consuming your map currencies, but I don’t recommend that unless you’re planning to use them to buy packets or bundles.

BLOOD RUBY

- Completing each of the dailies in Bloodstone Fen grants 1 Blood Ruby for each daily.

- Mining Bloodstone Crystals with a chance at a Blood Ruby.

- Completing the Bloodstone Sightings achievement grants 10 Blood Rubies.

- Escorting Alari Doubleblade event grants 1 Blood Ruby.

- Defeating Ghostly Justiciar Hablion grants 3 Blood Rubies, it’s a daily too.

- Defeating the pair of Jade Constructs in the last phase of the chain event grants 2 Blood Rubbies.

- Defeating the Legendary Unbound Guardian grants 4 Blood Rubies.

PETRIFIED WOOD

- Completing each of the dailies in Ember Bay grants 1 Petrified Wood for each daily.

- Completing each of the hearts in Ember Bay grants 3 Petrified Wood for each heart.

- Chopping down Petrified Stumps with a chance at Petrified Wood.

- Completing the Skip up the Volcano jumping puzzle grants 5 Petrified Wood.

- Completing the three Coalescence events that spawn in the three areas of the map grants 6 Petrified Wood, 2 for each event.

- Defeating the Sloth Queen grants 3 Petrified Wood.

- Defeating the Molten Dominator grants 3 Petrified Wood.

- Defeating Vermingus grants 3 Petrified Wood.

- Completing the escorting Skrilla event grants 3 Petrified Wood.

- Opening Skirtt Stashes grants 0-3 Petrified Wood (you do need to use 1 Petrified Wood to buy a contract).

FRESH WINTERBERRY

- Completing each of the dailies in Bitterfrost Frontier grants 1 Fresh Winterberry for each daily.

- Completing each of the hearts in Bitterfrost Frontier grants 5 Fresh Winterberries for each heart.

- Opening Icebound Chests with a chance at Fresh Winterberries.

- Harvesting Winterberry Bushes grants Fresh Winterberries.

That’s basically it, I tend to have a checklist for myself everyday to complete all of these and just get them all done. I suggest you do the same because this makes the new maps a lot more rewarding and very fun to play. I am in the processing of currently gearing up my Guardian and I want to use the 4 stats prefix for my gear, so this is great for me since I don’t raid often, nor PVP as much. This is the next best way to get those new ascended trinkets with new stat types.

Hope you enjoyed the guide, and for more specifications watch the video linked above.

Thanks for reading!

EDIT: Buying each of the nodes for your home also grants more of each of the map currencies too, but I think they cost like 50 Gold and aheap of Unbound Magic also, find a friend who has it maybe.

Most Useful & Fun Gizmos Guide

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maniamsmart.7981

maniamsmart.7981

If you do not like to read, see the video version of this post instead:
https://youtu.be/-Kqk5wxu2AI

Hey guys! So over the years I’ve always appreciated the amount of things Guild Wars 2 has to do in-game. I’ve also appreciated the amount of cool gizmos the game has. So I’ve decided to break down some of the most useful and fun gizmos in game. This is a random list, not in any order and while most veterans probably know most of these items, some newer players may not know any, and some of these are very useful.

Converters
These convert currencies or crafting material to loot. They are limited per day; you can only use them a certain amount of times per day. Most of these can only be used 3-6 times a day.

Herta
-A Study in Gold achievement to obtain, tablets in Auric Basin.
-250 Bloodstone Dust to convert to loot that includes lodestones and cores.
-Can be very valuable if you don’t have Mawdrey II.

Mawdrey II
-Craft ascended Mawdrey backpiece to obtain.
-Need to have access to Dragon’s Reach Part 1 and 2.
-50 Bloodstone Dust to convert to loot from a huge variety of items. Not as much of a guarantee of valuable items compared to Herta.

Princess
-Lion’s Arch Exterminator achievement to obtain. Shoot karka hatchlings across Lion’s Arch, to start this achievement you have to talk to an NPC in the north side of Lion’s Arch.
-50 Dragonite Ore to convert to loot from a huge variety of items.

Star of Gratitude
-Ornament collecting achievement from Wintersday “For the Children!”.
-50 Empyreal Fragments to convert to loot from a huge variety of items.

Sentient Anomaly
—Token Collector achievement to obtain, collect all tokens in Ember Bay.
-25 Dragonite Ore and 25 Empyreal Fragments to convert to loot from a huge variety of items.

Sentient Aberration
-Conspiracy of Dunces achievement to obtain, find journals in Bloodstone Fen.
-25 Dragonite Ore and 25 Bloodstone Dust to convert to loot from a huge variety of items.

Last two convertors can allow you to convert your crafting materials, you don’t need Mawdrey II, Princess, or Star of Gratitude. Or have all 6 and get a ton of loot!

Candy Corn Gobbler
-Gem store to obtain.
-Convert 3 pieces of candy corn to random transformation or boost. 7-minute extension for
each same additional boost.
-Great way to put candy corn to use, other than converting to cobs and selling on Trading Post.
-Candy corn node in home instance gives more candy corn, so this puts them to use.

Fractal Reliquary
-Ascended Recycling achievement to obtain, salvage ascended gear and get essence.
-Convert fractal relics to bags of rare gear, crafting bags (usually laurels only), and other neat items.
-As useful as this item is, can be hard to get these rare essences from Ascended gear.

Ley-Energy Matter Converter
-Mouth of Mordremoth Master achievement to obtain, slay under 20 minutes.
-Buy a HoT key for free every day. Great for buying a key you’re missing for your home instance chests, or for stockpiling keys.
-Another tab similar to Fractal Reliquary, allows you to convert HoT map currencies to crafting bags, rune bags, sigil bags, jewel bags and other neat and useful items that you don’t see as much or at all in the open world.

Karmic Converter
-Exotic Hunter achievement to obtain, unlock 34 specific exotic skins which is roughly 300 gold.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m a returning player, been away for almost 2 years, had all class 80 and lots of stuff, yet since I came back I felt lost with all the changes. This at least helps me focus instead of blindly trying to know everything at once.

You’re welcome! Glad you found it helpful, and have fun

Recently I created a New Players Beginners’ Guide to Guild Wars 2 that was heavily supported and seemed to help a lot of people out. Many of you had stated that I should also make a level 80 and beyond guide, so here it is.

If you haven’t seen my beginners’ guide for Guild Wars 2, please check it out, because there is some content in there worth knowing about that I won’t go as much in-depth in here, as I do there.

Understanding & Gathering the Essentials

Once you’re level 80, the real fun begins. Most of the game’s content is heavily revolved around level 80, hence why it’s fairly easy to level up to max. However, with the many things to do in-game at max level, some players can find it hard to get started on anything. This is what causes a good number of players to even quit the game once they get to 80, missing out on all of the end game content Guild Wars 2 has to offer.

Just like when you first start the game, one of the first things I’d do when getting to max level is obtaining the essentials. This includes max level gathering tools that can be bought from any merchant (they will be blue colored), 20 slot inventory bags (which can be bought from the trading post, or crafted), and at least rare gear (they will be yellow, and can be bought from the trading post, crafted and gained from world bosses, story missions, and other parts of the game).

Essentially the main goal is to get your exotic gear, and if you have the gold for it, go ahead and buy it because you’ll have better stats and be more competent. If you don’t have enough gold, upgrade your weapons first, and then start upgrading your armor and trinkets. If you happen to be very poor, make sure you continue to salvage everything to earn more luck to increase your magic find and chances of getting exotics as drops. Otherwise farm for gold, which will be easy to accomplish with the many things you can do from here on with your yellow gear. As long as you know how to dodge and play your class, yellow gear should be fine for some of the end-game content, but get orange gear as soon as possible! Now would also be a good time to look at runes and sigils for your exotic gear, if you have it, which synergize well with your build. Note orange runes and sigils cannot be slotted to anything lower orange gear.

As much as earning gold, and gearing up to exotics is important, it’s also important to ensure that you have all your skills and specializations unlocked from your Hero panel. If you still are missing some skills and specializations, use your hero points or complete hero challenges throughout the maps to gain more points. Specializations make a difference in all of the end game content and this should be a priority. Upon unlocking all of these it’s best to fully understand your class now, understand how certain skills can work well together, and how certain traits in your specializations synergize with skills, weapons, and your choice of runes and sigils. If you’re completely stumped and don’t know where to begin you can always use an online resource such as MetaBattle to see current top builds.

PVE, Dungeons & Fractals

When it comes to completing content there are several routes you can take, and I’ll be going over them all in terms of difficulty, be aware these are opinionated and you may find some easier.

Now that you’re max level it’s important to have goals, as I mentioned in the previous guide, this game is heavily goal driven, and once you’ve completed your personal story (which should be done by now), the game doesn’t really push you in a direction anymore, you pick your own. Completing the world map is one option as you’ll get enough hero points to max out not only your specializations and skills, but also gain progress on your Elite specialization and Tyria masteries if you have Heart of Thorns.

Your Elite specialization gives you more skills and traits, and your mastery tracks give you special perks for PVE, such as auto-loot, more rewards from fractals, legendary crafting and more. These mastery tracks can be completed through gaining experience throughout Tyria, which pretty encompasses everything in this guide. To complete these tracks and unlock the perks you need mastery points, which again, can be earned from completing a variety of content in the game.

If you’re not feeling like going through each map however, I do recommend checking out all of the world bosses that you can now participate in, or some of the higher level map events in the Orr maps such as the Cursed Shore. Both of these options give you lots of loot, gold, experience and mastery points. There’s a ton of content in Tyria to explore, including mini-dungeons, jumping puzzles, and map meta-events that all give you experience and loot and should be very accessible now since you’re level 80. Feel free to explore and enjoy the game, there’s no rush.

If seeking for something more challenging and rewarding you can try out dungeons and fractals. You’ve probably already done a few dungeons prior to level 80, but now, you can try all of the dungeons and complete them a lot quicker. Each dungeon has several paths to clear aimed towards level 80 characters and gives lots of loot, a good amount of liquid gold (even more so if completing the Dungeon Frequenter achievement which requires 8 completed paths), and experience.

Fractals on the other hand have always been a bit more challenging for me as there are many more mechanics involved, some puzzle solving, and instabilities to overcome. If you get into fractals and complete most of the lower scales, these fractals become more difficult the higher you climb the fractal ladder. The higher you climb, the better rewards you’ll get as well. This is a great place to acquire ascended gear too which is even better than exotic gear, and will be explained more about a bit later. It’s also key to understand that the higher you go in the fractal ladder, the more agony resistance you will need too. Agony resistance is basically a stat of defense for higher level fractals, each higher level requiring more and more agony resistance, which is earned from completing fractals and can be slotted into ascended gear. Both fractals and dungeons give you the opportunity to earn skins too for your armor and weapons that are exclusive to those PVE modes (excluding PVP and WvW reward tracks).

PVP & WvW

For the most part, you’ll probably want to do dungeons first since you won’t need ascended gear as you do in higher tier fractals to benefit from the required agony resistance. Aside from these activities, WvW and PvP are still part of the game too. Now since you’re level 80 and understand your class a bit more, you may want to participate in a lot more PvP. Once confident enough you can participate in ranked PvP that allows you to climb through a series of ranks depending on how well you play, and how much you win. This is basically another reward track that rewards you with a badge next to your name, gold, and dyes. On top of this, you can still earn rewards from the normal reward tracks that are offered. Similarly, WvW may now be more suitable for you too. With your skills and specializations unlocked you can now be a bit more competent in WvW, whether you want to follow a commander or learn the maps and strategies to command one of your own squads. WvW has a lot to offer, for guilds and for personal rewards, not to mention you can make some new friends. Every server either has a TeamSpeak or a website where you can participate on to learn more about WvW, or simply just follow a tag on the map to be a part of the action in killing armies of players and capturing keeps and towers.

Living World & Story

If you’re ready to get back into the story, you can always begin the Living World season missions if you have them unlocked or start the Heart of Thorns content. Each living world episode gives you loot, some mastery points, and a great story that follows the original personal story. The Heart of Thorns story will take you through the new maps and allow you to experience yet a second personal story sort of. Each of these maps are a bit harder than regular maps you’re used to in Tyria, but there’s a lot to do. Whether you like mini-games and want to complete all the adventures, are an explorer and want to map complete, are an achiever and want to complete the large number of achievements to fully experience every map and boss, or just need some gold by participating in the map meta-events, there’s something for everyone. Since you’re in the Heart of Thorns maps now too, you’ll also be able to progress through your Heart of Thorns mastery tracks which offer perks such as gliding, bonus rewards, ways of traveling through the map faster, and gaining advantages to kill mobs in the area. Similarly you’ll need Heart of Thorns mastery points which can be earned from completing achievements and exploring the maps. These maps are also great for progressing through Elite specializations as hero challenges here give 10 points instead of 1.

Each of these maps also have skins for your armor and weapons, so if your into fashion you may want to consider looking at each of these games modes (dungeons, fractals, and Heart of Thons maps) to gather all the skins. Dry Top and Silverwastes also offer great ways to make gold quickly, gather mastery points and unlock even more skins too, so don’t forget about those either. These work very similarly to Heart of Thorns maps and are also a tad harder than the normal Tyria maps.

Raids, Legendary & Ascended Gear

If you’re still looking for even more of a challenge and want to really max your character out you may also want to look at raids and ascended gear. Ascended gear is heavily recommended for raids, and should be on your radar as soon as possible since it can take a very long time to craft these, if you aren’t sitting on top of mountains of gold in which you can then just buy your way into making them. Ascended gear is better than exotic gear, and just like exotic gear you should look at upgrading your weapons first. However, if you’ve been playing the game for quite some time now, you’ve probably earned enough tokens such as laurels, fractal relics, guild commendations and Badges of Honor to buy your ascended trinkets, so be sure to check those first. Once you have if not all, but some of your ascended gear at least you could try to participate in raids.

Raids are probably the hardest content to complete in the game and require lots of time, patience, skill, and cooperation with other players. These instances can be very rewarding and can also start you on your journey to obtaining legendary armor. You can look for a raid in the LFG system just as you can look for others to play dungeons, fractals, and Heart of Thorns maps with. All of the raids can be accessed from the Lion’s Arch Aerodrome just nearby where fractals can be accessed in the southern portion of Lion’s Arch.

And while on the topic of legendary armor, which requires raid completion, liquid gold, crafting materials, and collection completions, legendary weapons can be acquired too. It’s important to note that legendary stats do not exceed ascended stats. Hence, an ascended sword and chest piece is just as good as a legendary one. The difference is that stats can be swapped from legendary gear whenever you want, and they offer an awesome skin and look to them making them stand out from the other gear; it’s a way to show off your accomplishment in the game. Be aware that both legendary weapons and gear require a lot of time, effort and gold, but can be very fun to complete. With Heart of Thorns you can even go on a journey and set of missions to get the precursor for your legendary weapon which is the bulk of the hard work.

Extras & Closing Thoughts

Still with all of this content in the game, there’s still so much to do. As a level 80 and now able to acquire rare and valuable materials you can also contribute to your guild to help build your guild hall, and participate in all of the guild missions. There are also a ton of neat little achievements that range from very easy to difficult in completing collections to earn useful gizmos such as Princess to eat bloodstone dust and give back loot, home instance nodes that can be placed in your home instance and gathered by you and your friends every day, and even more rare skins and ascended gear such as unique back pieces that too have a whole set of missions and steps on their own. This still doesn’t include many of the live updates that ArenaNet patches every two weeks or so that include new current event content offering more achievements and a small advancement in the story, and the myriad of festivals that come at specific times throughout the year that offer tons of fun.

Whether you’re a hardcore gamer who’s looking for a challenge, a casual gamer looking for fun, or someone with a creative mind for décor or fashion, Guild Wars 2’s end-game has a ton to offer. And if all of this still seems overwhelming where you still feel lost and not sure where to begin, feel free to see any of the links below that go even more in-depth in explaining the processes of gaining ascended gear, completing Silverwastes, running dungeons, making gold, earning mastery points and your elite specialization, agony resistance in fractals and much more!

I hope this guide has helped you as well as the beginners’ guide, and if it’s anything that you should keep in mind from reading any of this, is that you should always have a goal and strive towards completing something. There’s a lot to complete in Guild Wars 2 (more than I can even cover), and with such a great community that is willing to help others, don’t ever be afraid to ask in map chat, or in the comments sections for help!

Thanks for reading, and happy gaming!

Question about the Partner Program!

maniamsmart.7981

Hi there,

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but there wasn’t an appropriate category in the Support section to send a ticket, so I am posting here. The Twitter team also didn’t reply to my Tweet either when I asked

The other day my friend was on the Guild Wars 2 YouTube channel and noticed that there was a ‘Featured Channels’ section, and she had asked me why my channel wasn’t on there. I create lots of Guild Wars 2 videos, and have been doing so for a long time, and a lot of them are very well received. Then this morning I saw that another person who also creates YouTube videos for Guild Wars 2 got the ArenaNet Partner mail.

So I’d just like to ask, how can I get my channel onto the ‘Featured Channels’ section on the Guild Wars 2 YouTube channel? And, also, how can I be a partner of ArenaNet as some other YouTubers are?

New Players Beginners' Guide: Playing to 80

in Players Helping Players

If you do not like to read, then see the video linked below instead:
https://youtu.be/47zjBtOmnP4

So one of your friends has convinced you to try Guild Wars 2 with them. You’ve finally made your character, and finished the tutorial. But now what?

While most games lack a good end game, personally for me, Guild Wars 2 lacked a good start game, mainly because the lack of direction. By no means is there not enough to do, but rather too much to do in such a large world that you either don’t know where to begin, or can’t begin yet because you’re not high enough level.

A lot of your friends are probably raiding, running fractals, gathering mastery points to get above that level 80 cap, or farming for gold in some of the more fun and enjoyable Heart of Thorns maps. But what about you, the new starting player?

Understanding & Gathering the Essentials

Outside of the personal story, which is basically the main storyline of the game, much of your gameplay is heavily driven by personal goals. Do you want to master all the dungeons and run them for gold and loot? Then do it. Do you want to earn map completion for the entire game world? Then do it. Do you want to collect all the armor styles and create each of your characters around an idea or style? Then do it. There’s a variety of things to do in Guild Wars 2, but as a starting character it can be kind of rough.

As soon as you finish the tutorial and gather some money, go and find the nearest merchant and buy bags. You’re going to need lots of bag space, because your inventory can fill up quick. Along with that, get some gathering tools, and a salvaging kit. Gathering tools will help you gather resources around the map, and a salvaging kit will help you break down unneeded equipment into crafting components. Now why would you want to fill your inventory up with crafting components? Because they can be deposited into your bank and free up space in your inventory by clicking the gear wheel. Those are pretty much the first few things you want to do, and will continue to do throughout the game as you continue to play.

Personal Story

Whenever you have the chance to do so, look for the green star on your map and top right corner of the screen to continue to advance the personal story. Your first run through the personal story can be interesting and fun, and gives you experience and levels really fast. At a certain point you’ll be gated from the remaining story until your high enough level again. If you’re ever lost and don’t know what to do, look in your Hero panel, find the Story Journal and see if you can continue your personal story and go to the green star on the map. This is the fastest way to level up. In between story quests you’re best off just roaming the map and finding points of interests, waypoints, vistas, hero points, and completing hearts. Look for orange circles as well on the map, these are dynamic events, and grant good amounts of experience as well.

Finding Your Style

At level 11, you’ll be able to use hero points to unlock new traits and skills. Don’t worry too much about what skills and traits are the best for your class; from now until level 80 is the time where you want to experiment with different skills, different weapons, and different armor stats to find your playstyle.

If you go into the PVP lobby by clicking the double sword icon, you can go to a merchant in the Heart of the Mists and buy all the weapons that are available to your class and try them out on the golems or class NPCs. Again, you’ll be boosted to level 80 and have all the skills and traits unlocked, but don’t worry too much about that just yet. If you do want to take an in-depth look at all the things available to you, perhaps you can even try your luck at playing PVP if you found a great combination of skills, traits, and gear setup. PVP will grant you Tomes of Knowledge that will grant you one level. If you’re not ready for PVP yet and just came here to try out the weapons then you can head back out.

PVE & Map Completion

Pre-level 40 or so it can seem like a grind, but if you take your time exploring the world, and enjoying the game you’ll have fun; and if you have a friend to do it with you it can be more enjoyable. If you want to switch starting areas, take the Lion’s Arch portal in your home city, and go to the other races’ starting areas, this is a great way to do map completion or change your environment a bit. Map completion and experience gain also works for the cities, so find all the waypoints, vistas, and points of interests there too. Everything in the game gives you experience, so always gather every resource node you cross, revive every player you see dead near you, and complete every event you cross.

With some map completion and your personal story, it shouldn’t be long till your level 20-25. From here you can continue to do map completion in some of the higher level zones or continue your personal story. Apart from that however, it’d be a good idea to start looking at crafting, PVP, and Edge of the Mists as well. All those materials you’ve deposited from gathering and salvaging can now be used to craft and can also gain you experience to level up. If you have the necessary materials you can gain levels actually quite fast, faster than map completion and personal story even. If you don’t have the materials, use the trading post to buy them.

On the trading post, you’ll also notice that you can buy and sell other goods. Merchants are great for selling your junk, and some karma merchants and heart vendors are great for buying trinkets such as rings and amulets. But the trading post is where every tradable item in the game can be bought and sold. If you feel the need to, you can buy a full set of gear for your character on the trading post around level 50-60. You’ll want to look for yellow gear, as this is rare gear that has much better stats than white, blue, and green gear, the lowest, second lowest, and third lowest quality respectively. A lot of your gear from the personal story, karma vendors, and general loot however should suffice, especially considering that buying a full set of gear can be expensive. In fact many players don’t touch the trading post to buy gear until level 80, as you’ll need the exotic gear then, the highest gear, right after ascended quality gear. At this point, you may also want to look at world bosses as you can do a considerable amount of them already. Many of them spawn in lower level areas like Fire Elemental, Jungle Wurm, Shadow Behemoth, and the Svanir Shaman; these also grant experience and loot. The higher level you are, the more of these you’ll be able to do.

PVP & WvW

If you chose to participate in PVP, learn to fight against other people by mastering your class and skills, capture points and hold them to gain your team points, and learn to play Stronghold which pushes teams to kill opposing teams’ lords by breaking into their keep with the aid of door breakers and archers. World vs World, or WvW, is a similar PVP experience but on a much larger scale. For lower level characters, Edge of the Mist may be easier to understand and participate in as it’s on a smaller scale than the normal WvW format which has multi-large maps and a lot more people. Edge of the Mists allows you to run with a commander and an army of people to fight against others and capture objectives. It’s similar to PVP where you hold objectives to give your team points and Tomes of Knowledge can be earned to grant a PVE level. It’s also worthy to note that PVP and WvW each have reward tracks that can grant other great rewards as well!

Dungeons

Once level 40, you should probably start to do dungeons (the first dungeon is however unlocked at level 30, and you can do a new dungeon about every 10 levels). Dungeons grant you lots of experience very quickly in bursts. There are several dungeons, each having an icon on your map with a door symbol. Be aware some of these are higher level dungeons, and you won’t even be able to go in them if you’re not the proper level. Dungeons have a story mode, and multiple paths, each run being a little different. It’s a great idea to use the LFG system to group up with others for dungeons. Aside from dungeons you can continue to craft on a second profession, if you’d like, continue to PVP and gain Tomes of Knowledge, participate in WvW and EotM for Tomes of Knowledge, or continue to explore the world of Tyria and complete hearts and do your personal story until level 80.

Extras & Closing Thoughts

Once you hit level 80, everything becomes really fun as you’ll be able to go for more specific goals, do raids, do the full collection of dungeons and fractals, participate in all the world bosses, some requiring collective effort such as Tequatl, complete living world seasons, farm for masteries, explore the new Heart of Thorns content, and learn your new specialization which advances your class to gain more skills and traits.

Lastly, joining a guild or creating a guild of your own can make the game a lot more fun as more of the game will become open and relevant to you. You’ll be able to take part in guild missions, claiming your guild hall, leveling up your guild hall, decorating your guild hall, and much more!

And that’s pretty much it, I hope you enjoyed this guide, and found it helpful. If you did, I can also make a level 80 guide too! Check below for specific helpful links that are useful concerning world boss timers, crafting guides, and other helpful resources every GW2 player should know.

When Will the PVE Berserker Meta Change?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: maniamsmart.7981

maniamsmart.7981

Let’s Talk Build Diversity

With the multitude of stat sets in the game, everyone still only runs Berserker in PVE. I’d love to see some other stats actually become more viable. I’d love to build a Guardian Healer and Tank, or a Warrior Tank with some damage, or any sort of combinations, but there just isn’t a place for that in the game (excluding raids of course).

The other day I was gearing up my Warrior, and one my friends told me that I should go get some Soldier’s or Knight’s gear, but let’s be real, you really only need Berserker’s. Any group running full Zerk in a dungeon will be quicker at completing it then a group without full Zerk, which sucks, because it encourages everyone to build Zerk. This got me thinking and into a discussion where I thought about why people only run Zerker gear, and here’s what I came up with (there’s probably more, but these stood out).

The Rally System
Because you can just build pure damage, as long as you or someone near you kills the mob, you come back with a substantial amount of health. This allows players to play reckless and go all in without much penalty. I feel like the system needs to be revamped, at least in raids it’s a bit better and you can’t just go full DPS and mindlessly mash your keyboard hoping to rally.

Healing Power Is Broken
Why does it not scale with revive speed? This would encourage people to actually perhaps build it more; maybe allow it to have faster revive speed, or instant revive (maybe too OP, but you’re sacrificing damage for healing so why not?). In general healing power builds don’t feel rewarding because you don’t really ever have an idea of how much you really ARE helping the team or how much you really ARE making an impact. You just see a ton of green numbers.

Out of Combat Healing
Even if you run past a ton of mobs, you won’t die anyway because once out of combat your health shoots up anyway. And even if you do die, then you can have enough power probably to kill and just rally again. Why not make food a requirement to health regen, or having to go near a camp, or something. That would be more interesting IMO, and would require people to build a bit different maybe?

No Need for Threat Control, So No Tanks
The PVE content is already easy, and even if it wasn’t we don’t any major threat control abilities where we can pull mob aggro on the fly whenever we want. And there isn’t a need to even because everything dies so quickly. That’s why we see tanks only really needed in raids, because they CAN control the threat and those bosses don’t die instantly.

Those are just my thoughts and opinions, I may be wrong, but let me know yours. I’ve done a video on this topic where I talk a bit more in depth about the topic with more examples below if you’re interested:

I’m sorry you had a bad experience like that. From what I’ve heard, it’s better to explicitly look for “training” groups. They tend to understand that you’re not a perfect raiding robot and are, in fact, a person who occasionally makes mistakes and may not understand everything instantly lol.

Yes, I’ve actually learned that as well.

This feels like an attempt to just get youtube views. opened your link only to see your channel name. going to avoid your channel if it ever comes up

Um, if I wanted to get YouTube views, I’d spam my videos on the boards all the time. It’s an experience I wanted to share, with a relevant video. I don’t see what your issue is and why you’re assuming the worst.

I enjoyed reading your post, and I agree that some people need an attitude adjustment. But I’m not going to watch your video because I’m petty and don’t like self-promotion disguised as a topic for discussion.

Self promotion disguised as a topic? It’s a topic, my video covered the topic, I wanted to share the topic, my experience, and share my video. Like I said to the other person, if I wanted to self-promote so hard I’d post all my videos on here, which I clearly don’t do. I really don’t understand what people’s problem is.

Read your post and watched your video, totally agree that people need to be a bit nicer. My boyfriend and I tried to do raids about 2 weeks ago, but we got kicked from the party because we apparently didn’t have enough DPS, even though we had Ascended Zerk gear, and others had Exotic only.

Don’t know why everyone’s being an kitten about his link. So what? It’s actually good GW2 content in the video, didn’t even know there was a new raid coming out. Jesus, some people are quick to judge… it’s not like it’s click-bait to get easy views, it’s actually informative content.

Sorry to hear you had a terrible time, DPS is a big issue though, not sure why they kicked you though if you had Ascended Zerk. Thanks for the support though, I don’t get it either why people have such a fit with me sharing my YouTube video. It’s as if my content is garbage and I just want to make a quick buck. I work hard on my videos and all of them have relevant informative content. Sorry for trying to make a living.

So your semi-terrible raid experience consisted of…

You having no raid experience, yet joining a gorseval group

The group taking you anyway

The group saying mean things to no one in particular but still willing to take you with no experience on one of the hardest raid boss fights.

End of story?

This seems like an example of them doing everything right, and going out of their way to accommodate you, yet you come here and complain anyway.

This is why we don’t like pugs fyi.

Me having no raid experience? Yes, however I did read guides and watch videos, so not completely inexperienced.

The group taking me anyway? Under the consideration that I had posted an LFG and stating I was a beginner, yes also true.

The group saying mean things? Right, I don’t get your point? I don’t like people’s attitudes, and it’s toxic. That’s my point.

And they didn’t do everything right, because it completely discouraged myself and even some of the others players in the group who were also beginners. The group leaders were aware that a lot of us were beginners, so why be so negative and toxic? Doesn’t seem very encouraging to try and learn the raid.

OMG reading this I was like “hmmmm this is VERY similar to gaming with GS” and here you are XD

Hey there, nice to see you on here! And you’re right that is me

Hey guys,

So I’ve never really done raids. However, I am aware, and in fact part of this post is to spread the word of accessibility of raids, because they have become more accessible. With many people willing to help, guilds made for them, and several community members posting on Reddit and the forums setting up events to help, anyone can get into them. However, I still feel like even thought they are accessible, there’s still going to be those jerks that want to belittle the newer players to raids, and put them down simply to raise their ego or discourage them.

Recently I joined a TeamSpeak from a group I joined to do Gorseval, and there were a couple people in that group that gave me bad vibes, as they spoke about how people were blind idiots not knowing how to use their class or their builds to do the raid and not paying attention and listening, and calling them kittens because they kept messing up. Now these weren’t directed towards me, but just hearing those things be said about our own community really kinda made me cringe.

Now I can understand if someone relies solemnly on the raid leader or the person who knows what they are doing. Say you’ve never looked up a build, never looked up a raid video, or read any guides, then sure anyone would get aggravated that you’re just wanting to be spoon fed the loot and the raid run. So I guess one of my points is to at least watch a video, or read up a guide before you go into a raid. And my second point I guess, is that if you’re going to help someone, and teach them, don’t be an kitten to them and be so toxic, because that doesn’t help anyone, nor does it encourage the community to even participate in raids. I really don’t want to see “League of Legends” attitudes in GW2, because I know we’re all better than that.

I spoke a little bit more about my raid experience in my last YouTube video where I also talk about the new White Mantle Stronghold raid coming soon in-game, if you’d like to watch see the link below:

Free Camera Mode for PVE?

VIDEO VERSION OF THIS POST HERE: https://youtu.be/LPROqsMPcHU

Hi guys,

So recently I took a look at the new free roam camera spectator mode in PVP. I really enjoyed it, and found some pretty neat things in the different PVP maps after exploring a good few of them. I really got to appreciate the maps a bit more, and saw some things I never really noticed before.

However, one thing that got me curious was having a similar feature for PVE. Would there be a way for people to exploit the feature? Maybe event checking, jumping puzzles, etc.? I think it would be really cool, but don’t know how it would affect the game or immersion.

What are your thoughts? I personally would love to see a PVE equivalent.

More Home Instance Stuff?

So I made a video about this here, if you wanna check it out, and learn how to max your home insatnce out otherwise just read below:
https://youtu.be/AdfH7Dr6Jkc

I love the home instance, but it feels like apart from the 10 nodes or so that we have, which don’t include gem store stuff, there isn’t really much there. I wish they had some daily NPC stuff in there, like they had in the early days of GW2 with the dye identification.

Or how about decorating, they have it for guild halls, I’d love to see some home instance decorating that would be so cool, and I think would open up a whole new game mode. Since they probably aren’t going to do player housing, should at least let us decorate our home instance. Or what about letting us move the nodes around that we already have?

What would you like to see in the home instance? Maybe they’ll read this and get some ideas!

However, I will say this, I am fairly impressed at how well these legendary journeys for weapons have come together. I’ve heard many great things bout some of the others, and was recommended to the shortbow one by many people now. So far I’m really enjoying it and can’t wait to continue it.

Have any of you been enjoying any of the other ones that you’d recommend me to do, because so far I love the whole store and journal entry with the tigers. Well done ANet!

Top Daily Gold Making Routines

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maniamsmart.7981

maniamsmart.7981

VIDEO VERSION OF THIS POST IS HERE: https://youtu.be/wIldt0VYR78

So some of you may have already seen some of my videos, others not, but I constantly see people asking in-game, or on YouTube on how people make so much gold, so quickly. Quite frankly, it isn’t that hard. So I decided to put together a quick list of things a player can do EVERY DAY, very easily and in a pretty quick fashion to make some quick easy gold.

DO YOUR DAILIES
Literally, the easiest way to make an easy 2g. There’s a good variety, and take 10-15 minutes. On top of that, even some of your daily log-in rewards can be turned into even more profit, and all you have to do is click the chest at the bottom.

DO DUNGEONS
With the recent update, there’s no reason not to do them. Even if you can’t do all 8 in one day, do 1-2 a day, and in 4 days you’ll get the 5 gold reward. This does not even include any of the dungeon completion gold you get, tokens, or loot either even yet.

DO FRACTALS
Simply doing the 2 daily fractals that give a specific scale can make you some gold by opening encryptions and selling the junk. They are really quick to do as well, quicker than dungeons even sometimes.

SEE THE SUPPLY NETWORK AGENTS
Probably one of the best ways to invest your Karma is to buy the daily Map Bonus Reward item from the supply network agents across Tyria and just stack up on these. When a map bonus reward becomes available that gives lots of Giant’s Eyes, Lodestones, or Powerful Blood, just use them all. Super easy and quick to do, no effort.

FIND A GATHERING ROUTE YOU LIKE
Whether it be, passion flowers, hard wood, seasoned wood, platinum, or even the more recommended Quartz Crystals, just find a route that you like to travel each day and gather nodes. This can really stack up money, and can be even more rewarding if you do Quartz Crystals as they can help even more for some time gated crafting, or just sell them since they are limited in the game.

DO TEQUATTLE
I usually log on right around the time Teq starts, and this is by far one of the best world bosses to do, as you get lots of loot boxes, and 1g for just completing the boss. I highly recommend doing this world boss every day if you get the chance and can catch him.

CRAFT TIME GATED ITEMS
People who want to craft ascended gear, such as the armor, weapons, or even Mawdrey all need time gated items such as Grow Lamps, Plates of Plant Food, Elonian Leather Squares and others. Some of these you can legit just buy all the required items off the TP, and still make a profit. However, you’ll probably have tons of bloodstone dust, venom sacs, and other materials, so why not use them for things such as Heat Stones which can sell up to 27g!

So that’s pretty much all I went over, and pretty much what I tend to do every day sort of if I have the time. You certainly don’t need to do ALL of these, but some of these every day can really make you easy gold.

Below I’ve linked some good resources to look at if any of this is new to you and you need more details. Or just watch my video

Hey guys,

So recently I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about newer players not knowing how to do dungeons, or people forgetting how dungeons work. Ever since the Spring quarterly update, dungeons have become lucrative again, so I figured it’d be a great time to make some dungeon video guides.

Below you’ll see the list, I will continuously update this, here’s what I got so far.

Lower Scribe Costs Even More With Cooking

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maniamsmart.7981

maniamsmart.7981

I HAVE A VIDEO FOR THIS METHOD TOO:
https://youtu.be/Z-mlsLop5MQ

ArenaNet has already reduced scribing costs through the latest patch, however, you can lower the cost even more if you’re willing to do some cooking.

Brown pigments are pretty expensive, and needed for a wide variety of items while scribing, so instead of having to buy them, you can actually craft brown dyes, which is whee brown pigments can be salvaged from. To craft brown dyes, simply buy Nutmeg Seeds from karma vendors (there’s one by the farm in Gendarran Fields, the heart NPC), and 25 potatoes (which can be gathered from the potato farms in the game, or also bought). Then craft the unidentified brown dyes, salvage them, and get brown pigments.

This can also be used to make some gold profit even if buying potatoes straight off the TP, but results can vary based on salvage luck.

Upcoming changes in Spring Quarterly Update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

maniamsmart.7981

So I have seen many people now make threads about the sneak peak trailer, the spring update, and what would be coming next. So I’ve actually analyzed the sneak peak trailer, went over what is coming, and what could be coming in my recent YouTube video. If you want to go ahead and watch it click the link below:
https://youtu.be/qscBA68aa10

If not, here’s what I basically go over in the video, which include things from the sneak peak, things that are confirmed to be in the game, and things that could possibly be in the game if we’re optimistic that they have mentioned in the past.

CONFIRMED:
-Fixing Desert BL
-Scribing Costs Lowered
-HoT Events more casual player friendly, focused on reward players better
-Fractal fixes, replacing achievements

SNEAK PEAK SPECULATION:
-Megadestroyer Revamp?
-Legendary shortbow?
-Cliffside boss reskinned?
-Ad Inifinium as a Glider?

GENERAL SPECULATION:
-Missing armor sets (previous PvP sets), bringing them back?
-Improvements to existing PVP maps, new maps are being made though?
-Raids LFG System?
-Probably no next new raid wing, but several encounters were stated to be playable?
-Improvements to fractals game mode, making rewards better and more engaging?
-Working on new instabilities to slowly phase out the old ones?
-A new fractal; they said they are making more, one is in playable state?
-Dungeon Nerf Reverted? (I HOPE THEY DO THIS FOR THIS PATCH)
-Improvements to obtaining HoT Gear?
-HoT content rewarding to play in different playstyles?
-Adventures more available to play and more accessible?
-HoT Daily Achievements?

So SAB is ending soon, what's next?

And the sneak peak they just released doesn’t give us much info either.

I saw the legendary short bow probably, some new gem store wings probably, and Megadestroyer update (read in the comments somewhere)?
