Good solution would be ‘queuing’ glider deployment, double press button for jump fast and as soon as glider becomes deployable it will deploy.
Come on, why isn’t this fixed yet? Prolly takes 5 mins of a devs’s work to get it done. It wasn’t cheap to get mats for this and now all I can do is wait. What do I do with my char now, because who knows when this will get fixed, maybe tomorrow, maybe in 2 months. I’m not wasting 50+ gold for another set of insignias only to see this fixed in few days and then immidiately going for trailblazer.
And if it doesn’t get fixed and I stay with my current stats waiting… well…
Timers are lazy way of making content hard.
These excuses of implementing timers to make raids hard and make groups not being able to sell raid spots reminds me of certain game developers implementing ridicolous anti-piracy protections, making no impact on actual pirates but giving the shaft to everyone that bought the game.
Making defensive group can be countered by applying gradually raid-wide debuff that destroys armor or makes players exhausted or whatever. Even making healers heal less over time and players do lower damage over time… Options are endless.
Timer just comes down to abruptly cutting the fight and making players restart it. That’s very bad game mechanic and propagates toxic community and zerker meta which is already spread like plague.
and yet with every outfit and armor that comes out, there’s clipping and stretched textures everywhere, body parts are simply removed (yes I’m talking for asura and charr) which shows the armor rigging is only being done for humans, and then slapped onto the other races with a thumbs up and kicked out the door.
Did you ever do rigging and animation? If you did then you would understand why this happens. Most armost like that wouldn’t be usable in real life with all those acrobatic stuff going on in game. If you do a dodge roll in any kind of heavy armor… actually just doing that dodge roll in itself is impossible.
Animations can’t be changed for every specific piece of armor, so stuff like these must happen (although I didn’t really notice any clipping and stretching, but then again, I didn’t nitpick about it).
And you CAN earn. Earn that gold, get gems and there’s your skin! There’s absolutely nothing stopping you from doing that. How is buying from gem shop different from buying from Trading Post or in-game NPC trader? Absolutely no difference. Currency is different but that is irrelevant. You use all kinds of currency in different parts of game and you’re not complaining about that, so why complain when items come to gem shop?
There is a difference. Many players dont feel like they’ve earned something that way, i know i dont. Id much prefer doing an achievement and unlocking it that way, like the silver waste armor and the lumi armor, or the bladed armor that i worked my kitten off for, than “oh, just save up gold and buy it.”
See the difference now? we would have liked to have some kind of glider skin in game, that you work towards by doing things in game, that gets awarded when you finish an achievement. Not more gold grinding, Not for free.

For 50$ you usually can’t get an AAA game on release. You could get an AA game and chances are it will last you for less than 20 hours and will have zero replay value. Now, tell me, how much hours since release have you got into GW already?
For that 50$ you bought a MMO game of such magnitude and quality that it should be on prepaid model, but it isn’t. You basically have lifetime subscription for this MMO and lifetime support when you need it.
If you think that paying 50$ once every 3 years is a lot, and then you proceed to get countless hours of gameplay and fun out of it then you should get another hobby maybe. Buy a ball and kick it around. i’m sure you will get more bang for the buck. Saying 20-30$ worth of content is pretty insulting. The content you got needed countless hours of human work to be done, and more will be added without any cost. Comparing this to many other games you got much more than 50$ worth of content. Much, much more.
They may have dropped the ball when they did that thing with giving core game for free, but they redeemed themselves. And it was a kitten good redemption if you ask me.

Unless you have actually read the thread, don’t comment. Your ignorance does you no justice. No one, not once, asked for anything for free. They simply asked to add glider skins to the game so we can earn them, instead of putting them on the Gem Store (as day one DLC at that).
We paid 50 bucks for this new expansion, and all we got was a couple new armor skins, couple new weapons, and one glider (two if you got the collector’s edition). I mean, really?
And now, right after the expansion releases, they are already throwing up new items in the gem store. Hey a new outfit, new gliders, several new weapon sets in the Black Lion chests, etc.
Just feels like we got a bum deal/shafted on the expansion. I get Anet loves money, but to release all this new stuff for the gem store after we just paid for an overpriced expansion (my opinion), just feels like a slap in the face.

No, your question was how many free glider skins should have been there to make us feel happy. And again, I’ll answer your question by saying, no one wanted anything for free.
When the game released, the one skin was fine for free. But there could of been other skins we could of earned via achievements or drops, or even collections. You know, being rewarded for your efforts instead of having to pay for them? So yeah, we hoped for a few more skins to be able to be earned in game via effort. Not locked behind the Gem Store as day one DLC.

I see these things all over the place, and basically comes down to people being spoiled and thinking they are entitled to everything with little or no effort.
Nobody complains about legendary skin costing 3000 gold, but when it comes down to other skins everyone loses their kitten because it costs 200-300 gold. Yes, go and convert into gems. Gems is currency just like gold, badges, geodes and any other currency in game. It so happens it’s buyable with real money, which is only a positive thing for people that have less time on their hands.
If it was put at Exalted trader for 500 gold nobody would raise voice and everyone would be silently grinding for it. But since it’s on gem shop then let’s raise hell and go medieval on Anet’s kitten .
Your principles that you don’t want to buy just because it’s on gem shop are stupid and means nothing, because reasonable people will see it as an oportunity to buy it with gold instead.
Remember that Anet didn’t have to put gold to gem conversion at all. They did and thus made everything buyable with gold, you don’t have to spend a penny more than those 50 bucks (or only 10 if you got game on sale) and you get access to everything.
If you wanna look pretty with pretty skins put in some extra into game (time, gold, real money…), if not, you can still be EQUALLY competitive with stuff that’s available to anyone at ridicoulusly low prices.

Cele revenant seems to make a really good jack of all trades. I’ve tried Mallyx and Shiro combination with cele gear and it was hitting pretty kitten well with both legends and both weapon sets I had. Mallyx for example, with tons of conditions, still uses hard hitting physical attacks provided by weapons and it would be shame to not have some power and precision to utilise that fact. Also, when trying full zerker I felt really squishy, and with cele gear it was just enough survivability, while still maintaining good damage.
Celestial revenants could become a thing since the class is made in such way that you can’t really goo full on condi or full on physicall damage. Since you taking 3 different trait lines there is some mixing already happening, so why not just use that to advantage and make really good average character.
If someone has plenty condi cleanse, no problem, just keep bashing him with physical attacks, if someone has bunch of toughness, no problem, condi damage is still decent enough and sources are plenty to make him worried.
It’s simple: remove terrible invention called ‘Enrage timer’ and make fights that aren’t dps race. It will effectively remove zerker meta and make every other armor in game viable.
Instead of enrage timer, there could be something like fatigue that would reduce your overal effectiveness as fight progressed (slightly more damage taken, slightly less damage done, less healing…). That way if someone would be having valkyrie instead of berserker, it would still make him viable because he could take more damage later on. Damage wouldn’t be priority and lack of damage could be compensated with survival stats.
Whole dps meter drama is because there is enrage timer and everyone wants to be efficient with damage because of it, which ultimately leads to zerker meta.
Re: Dash update!
The original reason we had removed the extra distance on Dash was that we lacked the tech. Since that post, it’s been resolved. Thus, the distance of Dash is back, with a fervor. Now you’ll travel a full 450, up from the 360 previous (~300 base dodge), while moving at a faster-than-running speed. Swiftness duration increased to 10 seconds, up from the 8 we talked about originally.
This thing’s about solid movement, so we’re going to push it in that direction for this BWE. Please check it out and let us know how you feel about it. The animation’s going to remain as your character’s run for now.
We are aware that this new distance will cause some de-sync in synergy with Shadow Refuge, but feel that the open-field movement capability for daredevil needs to take precedence over this abliity. note: You can still dodge from edge-to-edge and remain inside the field, but it’s pretty tricky.
This is what many have been waiting. Ignore the nay-sayers because there is less synergy with SR. There are 2 other dodges to use there. Variety is what’s needed and this new dash is great step forward and a good step in making the meta more varied. Shadowstep, SR and speed boost being pretty much mandatory really sucks. Dash can now efficiently free up slot where speed boost was (hello swiftness!) and shadowstep, cause dash will hopefully be close to mobility shadowstep provides.
I just hope this gets properly balanced so we don’t get stuck in animation after the evade is gone. Distance traveled needs to happen in the time when evading is active like on regular dodge, and if that’s the case then you’ve nailed it
The whole point of dash seemed like we would get increased dodge distance.
Making Dash go far would finally remove the need of Shadowstep (kinda). Just connect 2 dashes and you’re out of the harm’s way. If you fear of falling off the ledge you simply don’t pick Dash.
A short update:
We’ve been working heavily on the dodge abilities, making them react the same way that your normal dodge occurs. There have been a lot of long hours, but we managed to get this functionality in for the next beta.
- The ‘Bound’ dodge animation is shorter and more appropriate for a dodge.
- Dash – The extra distance has been removed for now as well. Dash now breaks immobilize in addition to its other effects. For now, the animation is just going to run you in the direction you’re dodging.
- Impaling Lotus – The jump has been removed, as it caused issues that couldn’t be remedied. I’ll update if other things happen.

Why do I have a feeling these will get recycled for months after HoT release until you finally scrap them, make them F3-F5 (just so all the work that will went into them won’t be complete waste) and give thieves proper grandmaster traits.
Suggestion:
Dash – make it travel more distance. This trait will be useless without this feature. Now it’s just slightly improved Expedious Dodger from acro line, and that’s sad for a grandmaster trait.
Why isn’t anyone suggesting pistol auto-attack to change into combo like daggers for exaple? First attack is like opener, more damage, no bleed, second in chain can be added bleed, third could be short daze or something more fancy (the more bullets you fire into something, the better chance to stop them if they run towards you, or some kind of idea like that behind the autoattack). It would add quite a bit of depth.
And unload with baseline Ricochet would make other skills even more useless. Rather, buff skills 2 and 4.
2 could be small radius AoE with cripple and 4 could be piercing with more initiative cost, possibly longer range than other skills and much more damage (it’s HEAD shot after all). Maybe even add small pushback or knockdown while at the same time making it cost like 8, 9 initiative. pretty sure something like that wouldn’t be a problem if that skill was really useful and actually mattered when used.
Pistols need to be changed all together cause right now it’s 1,1,1,1,1,1, 3,3,3,1,1,1,1,3,1,1,1,1,3,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,3,3,3,3… you get the gist.
I was really looking forward to pistols when i started game and chose thief, but after realising how terrible and boring gameplay that is I just stopped bothering in coming up with some build that could not be terrible.
It was a nice thing Anet did to this game, and a nice comminuty they gathered around them, but they forgot most important part here – be the part of community.
It’s only natural that people come here to voice their concerns and suggestions toward bettering the game. Of course people flood the forums with complaints because once in a full moon, a dev emerges and gives a tiny bit of information, leaving people with unanswered questions and even more new questions that need answers. It’s not the community that made this forum complaint department.
Community is “demanding, or complaining, or insisting, or expecting the worst” because when some burning questions don’t get answer or get addressed for a long time, then there’s nothing much left they can do.
I keep coming back to Thief subforum hoping to see red marker when i scroll through this thread, but nothing. Is only 1 irrelevant post all we get after beta weekend? At least acknowledging stuff that’s written here would make people extremely happy and would silence posts like mine.
People should just stop giving feedback until there’s actually someone that listens to it and says something about it; whether it’s positive or negative answer on certain solutions players offer. 3 months ago when I started GW2 I had the idea that Anet is better than most developers out there because I saw on forum devs answering some questions (maybe I accidentally hit the posts devs made appearance in), but after this silence my opinion quickly turned 180.
I hate to bring this here, but recently on Kickstarter one game developer got their project funded in 12 hours, and is now pushing to get triple that amount.
Reason? People worship the ground under their feet.
Why? They have the best public relation I’ve ever seen.
Almost every relevant comment on their kickstarter, facebook, youtube or forum gets an answer from someone from their team, even the boss comes in to pitch in ocasionally.
That is the way how to properly manage unruly gaming community and not this silence.

This is same as complaining why raids need 10 people and why can’t they be soloed or 2-3 manned (nobody actually complained yet, but you get my drift).
Point of guild quests/events is that more people gather to do guild related stuff to advance the guild. If you choose to have guild with 20 active players, few online at a time then that comes at a cost. Cost being harder guild advancment and sometimes not being able to do all stuff bigger guilds can. You can’t compare your guild to a guild that has 200 active members and demand equality. Big guilds are harder to manage and in return some benefits must come from that. It’s harsh but it how it is and how it’s fair. Otherwise, everyone would make small guild and easily grab all the rewards that come with it.
