I couldn’t agree more. I don’t know if it’s because of my high mmr… but I’ve been playing with and against top 25 na players. Dropped from rank 300 to 54%. That’s because the past 2-3 games my team hit 300-400 point margin against players/premades with 80%+ win rates.

Oh and unofficial player list is unofficial. A few people on there are overrated.

The sad thing is, this “unofficial” leader board is more accurate than the official one.

You see those people winning games, they are people who party with others in PvP. People just need to get out of that solo que all day mindset. Those who party will see more success.

This is good, because this game could use a lot more people playing cooperatively rather than I solo everything. Partying up means you might make a friend, and playing with friends makes games more fun. Playing with guildies you like make games fun. Things that are more social see more success. Look at facebook vs myspace. Myspace was like a solo site, you make your page look good and that’s about it. Facebook, you post status, everybody sees it and object is to keep commenting and liking other people, rather than Myspace where focus is just keep trying to make yourself look good. Facebook you make friends and you talk to them. Myspace you just try and make your friends list look as big as possible, to make yourself look good.

Dude you are chatting kitten. It has nothing to do with being in groups. I have duo queued and solo queued and its is the same. Farming total idiots. Anyone who has put enough time into this game to be good will be finding it the same. The issue is 100% just that the matchmaking is terrible for highly skilled players. Nothing to do with how they queue (group or solo or full team). They need to make it so that the system takes longer to find matches and only pops like it did before. I could team queue (on the rare occasion I did) with certainty on the old system that I would have competitive games. Now I know I won’t have any.

I was duo and trio queue btw. I didn’t try. Was half asleep. Let them cap points over and over. Messed around. And still won by miles. Not sure I died. And all this in 1 minute queues? The system has to try harder to find me a fun game imo.

He has a point though. Even the top low tier, and mid tier players are face rolling all of their matches. There should be some expectation of blow outs on the high tier, but the mid tier should be fairly balanced, to promote gradual increase in player skill.

From a stand point of playing competitively in a relatively high tier, my team and pugs have to set up scrims with other teams and high tier pugs in order to have good games. I really do not have a problem with that. It’s just really unbalanced in the mid tier player base.

It’s fine that you all group up. But the matcher needs to only match you with another team close to your average MMR. And if none of the other elites are playing at the moment, then there is no match available. That’s perfectly fair. That’s a reality of being the best.

That’s essentially putting you in a Super Platinum Bracket.

And that is fair to all players.

There’s only so much harm to the game’s enjoyment 20 people can do who rarely even do ranked queue.

I think there are more than 20 that can dominate the average players. There is a LOT to this game and it takes a while to learn.

We were both talking about elite players not slightly above average players.

Matchmaking can’t work for elite players if no other of the 20 elite players are playing.

However, for above average players and average players, the matchmaking seems to work just fine. What you’re referring to isn’t a problem currently.

It’s amplified because let’s say, many Top 300 players grouped on teams, many on Teamspeak, basically cycle through match after match crushing casual soloers. You see this whenever the queues get shorter.

The teams that are winning are having fun and play hour after hour, winning. The low to average skill people get discouraged by blowouts and stop. And more casuals show up after a few minutes and get blown out for a few games, then they leave.

When they tightened up the matching, I, as an average player, started getting good tight matches…but the forums lit up with high-level people complaining that they Q was 30 mins.

Well, of course it was…the matcher was not allowing lopsided matches.

Yeah, but having 30+ min queues is just wrong. I have waited as long as an hour for a q pop, until they fixed it.

Nah I’m not being dumb. I even asked him if he was sure he wanted to 1 v 1 because eles hard counters guards. He just got too confident because I was a “random”. I would say Mobos is above average at best. This is based off the fact that I’ve fought guards who gave me a harder fight than Mobos did. I’ve seen better.

And it’s not like we worship him. It’s just whenever I see people claiming to be the best thief, I just ask them if they’ve dueled kronos. Not because I think Kronos is the absolute best, but I want to see a good fight between good thieves. Like I know Amonatory is really good. I would love to see those guys mirror spec different types of specs duel some day. Would be really fun to watch. I think most of the “known” players aren’t just the best pvpers. Just a popularity contest. Granted, some of them are legibly good and have earned their spot. But some…Not really. Caed for example, I love his rotations and map awareness and he does great in team fights. Definitely seems like a guy who calculates. And that’s something I appreciate in players in general. Kronos is one of them as well. You guys just need to give credit where its due sometimes instead of just trying to straight up deny what’s staring at you in the face. It is worth discussing because it’s the equivalent to a gold cape in GW1 which meant your guild was the best of a tournament. If they gave away the only thing that separates great players and teams from the rest of the game to a person who got carried through soloq literally playing less than 20 games….that would be very disappointing…

One piece of gear from a full set is not equivalent to a Gold cape. Why? Because there’s a good chance people won’t even see it. At least a Gold Cape can be an always on thing but this… meh. I would rather have a title that says my rank on the Leaderboard as of Dec 2nd.

Actually, my opinion comes from playing matches with these guys, and yesterday Magic Toker was linking his twitch after every match, win or lose. And no, I’m not a WVW hero, I pretty much only pvp in GW2. I used to exclusively play in team Q because solo Q players often seemed less skilled, but lately I’ve been venturing into solo Q as well, which is where I saw Zoose and Magic Toker yesterday. It’s also where I’ve seen a lot of these other players, too.

I never said they’re not good players, and clearly they have a very aggressive fanbase, so hats off to them…

That’s just coming from a girl who loves to pvp. On this account (my second account which was created in June of this year) I’ve won 308 matches and lost 259 in team arena, then won 156 solo q matches and lost 123. On my old account I won about 500 and lost about 450 team q matches and won 407 matches in solo q while losing 373. (My account used to be called Lindsey.2691 but was changed to BEETLEjay.2459 and then I just quit using the account entirely and started fresh on this account for personal reasons).

You guys really shouldn’t jump to harassment just because someone disagrees with you. In fact, it doesn’t actually help your cause because it shows how much of a jerk you are.

Just sit tight, I’m sure anet is aware of a lack of spvp content in general, hopefully they can start working on it more now that we will have a bigger better competitive scene.

Cheapest legendary (harpoon gun) is 1,850g. You would need to buy 16,623 gems to get that much, that would be $210.

Most expensive legendary (greatsword) is 4,939g. You would need to buy 44,205 gems for that, or $560.

I guess you could if you really wanted to …

Backpack and noscoc have farmed alot of weeklies and 2v2s.. they are prolly over 50k gems each.

Um…… there was this one team q game that my team at the time (sharkswithlazers) 500-0d nyhmx’s team. He lost to me in 18sec (shatter mes) he ran dbl endure, but ate every mirror blade in between those because he dbl dodged for what ever reason….. I’m only saying this to point out that he only wins against wvw players and saying he could win against any of those 15 is highly comical.

If good players get 1 shotted on Skyhammer, than they are not good.

You look at good players, Euratien and Stunningstyles. They are not getting 1 shotted. They are the ones doing the 1 shots.

Why? Because they know how to make builds, the people being 1 shotted are bad players who are using meta builds that aren’t meta on skyhammer which allows them to be 1 shotted by good players who know how to play the game and change there builds so they can skillfully play on a map like Skyhammer and skillfully 1 shot newbs into ragemode.

Why does Skyhammer need to be on WTS? So newbs can copy meta Skyhammer builds, which today there are none in existence, but if they see what the best use on Skyhammer, they’ll do a lot better copying there builds.

You need to get your facts straight.

This. Skyhammer would actually make a better teamq map than a soloq one. The main problem with the map is that all these soloq heroes have to make a few changes in their FotM build, and use a different strat than in the other maps. The horror! Skyhammer is the closest this game has from a different game mode, and forcing top players to play on it in a major tournament could help this type of players to understand how to play the map. Imagine all the new possibilities in team composition!

Um. What. I swear the day that skyhammer gets put in a official tournament and taken srsly, is the day gw2 loses the last of its high tier players.

Good players know how to change builds to make this map a fun map rather than players who don’t know how to change builds and hate this map because they often find themselves in the pit because a good player put them in there place.

I’m sure if you ask any good player that switches his build to a Skyhammer type build if they like Skyhammer they will tell you “YES, LOVE IT!!” because they are the only ones that change builds and henceforth only ones that dominate in the hammer room and the side nodes because other dumb people too stubborn to change hence why they hate Skyhammer.

When the #1 pvp build site http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki doesn’t support Skyhammer builds than guess what, average joes are just going to continue to hate it, and guess what the pro’s don’t care to make a Skyhammer build because if they do and post it to the site everyone will run it and instead of them making your life miserable owning you all day, and them themselves happy as can be because they get an easy win, it will be the opposite, they wont get easy wins anymore because everyone is on the equal playing field.

This is partially due to anet’s fault too, because they are the ones that mentioned a system where you can change builds with a click of a button, but failed to follow up and actually create it. Pro’s can remember what build are what, but average joes have to go back to the website http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki to check up on everything and make sure everything is correct. You should just be able to click a button, PvP builds, click on Skyhammer, Skyhammer build activated.

When I came back to pvp I really thought that was what the PvP build tab was created for, but I was disappointed, its the samething you did before, just put on armor and accessories, nothing else. Same as going to the hero tab and doing same thing.

That was not the only thing that disappointed me when I returned, many of you already know what else disappointed me. Matter of fact, these nerfs to Skyhammer disappoint me too. Should be opposite, should be glkittenters real fast, to encourage fast play rather than slow play.

What they are doing to Skyhammer is what they have done to hotjoins. Nothing but a slow and painful death. Skyhammer was once very fun, but now its starting to become dull and boring with all these changes.

(Again, not 1 Skyhammer build on this site http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki, yet Skyhammer has been out for around a year, same with no Spirit Watch build, people are seriously slacking, that site isn’t reliable if it doesn’t cover at least 1 of those builds)

You sir go off on tangents. Anyway. Skyhammer was a complete waste of resources on anet’s side. Even with the amount of changes to Skyhammer there is still the same amount of B S in everygame of skyhammer before and after patch. Skyhammer is …. uh….. a literal troll map, I can not even fathom what the devs were thinking when designing this map, it seems they completely ignored a lot of important aspect of gw2 combat, which would mean they made this map out of impulse of ignorance. In the end if it all, stop trying to point out aspects of skyhammer that can promote skillful plays among high tier players, it’s a waste of a post imo. Skyhammer will never be in a tourney or team q. Get over it.

You hit on the main point that we can’t make rewards tracks simply better than PvE farming. They are there as an alternative. Players can go between PvP and PvE and not feel like one section of the game is worth less of their time. If you burn out on farming events, come spice things up in PvP and still get rewards!

Reward tracks also give us the ability to put unique rewards into PvP, like we’ve already done. I don’t see a reason why we would stop. It’s an effective way to make people want to play PvP.

We also already have some RNG PvE rewards as guaranteed on reward tracks as well: Mystic clovers.

I disagree with one aspect of this post. Evan, tell me why brain dead, very skill less pve players earn (people have done the math when comparing rewards from pvp to pve) about 400 to 1000% more profit than skilled spvp players? Skilled play in spvp should be rewarded, and those rewards need to reflect the skill level of the player. I think it’s strange that a good sPvP player is sometimes recognized to not have anything close to the amount of gold an average pve player has. I hope you agree with this evan. If someone is really good at this game as in mechanically, or objectively, they should be rewarded the same if not more, than some of the “elite” (I laughed a bit here) pve players. GW1 had some great FEATURES (evan I know you like that word ;D) that complimented all levels of skill in pvp with appropriate rewards that reflecTed which tier of skill they were apart of. If you were good at pvp in GW1 you were able to sport the best looking gear along with the ability to show you were high tier through types of exclusive armor, weapons, titles, ranks, and emotes only associated with pvp. Evan I await your response to this.
