It’s pretty much how real life works though…
Except this is a game, we come here to have fun, slay monsters and get lost in the fantasy world, if we wanted something like real life, a game wouldn’t be the place we would look.
It’s funny when they wanna do it so fast that it takes them like half an hour to find the right group. Then, by that time, me and some friends have already run it.
Try gw2lfg as a zerk war i can get groups almost instant.
To add: More HP to mobs/bosses is not the answer. More armor to mobs/bosses is not the answer.
-Phases, whether at certain HP percentages or at random intervals, where the boss does a certain ability that we need to avoid, or do or activate something to mitigate damage…
-Kiting adds or the boss around the room
-Kiting the boss around the room so the boss steps on “debuff”/bad floors
-Condition removal…all classes have it. Its highly unlikely that youre entire group will not have one condition removal.
-The use of specific combo fields. My god the potential of this is insane. "Boss is more vulnerable to fire combo fields(blasts and projectiles)… Boss is more vulnerable to poison. Or, to make it easier for the group, stealth during a particular phase of the fight(Thief has two ways to do this for the entire group, mesmer has one).Come on…Im a mere player and already these are better mechanics than most of your dungeons. I can go on and on about interesting things for fights. And if some of my ideas are used, I’ll be both pleased and upset(that I didnt rack in some royalities)
I think a-net are to busy putting out trash content atm an example would be the new mini dungeon thing, what a bore lol
Thou i agree with you on the mechanics the devs should put some time into it instead of /copy /paste jps.
An ideal situation would be: A boss where if you aren’t in full zerker and some top-dawgg player…you will likely die. And by full zerker and top dog, I mean..you don’t get hit by ANYTHING. If you cannot pull off full zerker, then you NEED to build in some survivability into your build. So a mix of builds would be viable. Some condition removal from necro wells, or well timed heals from guardian/ele…things like that. Mo
I would rather have something more extreme than that. I wrote about it here, but I would love to see a situation in which Berzeker is literally useless.
Id prefer a situation where all builds are viable.
getting kickd from party cause, i didnt know how to exploit pass dredge. after beating already 2 fractal levels. why does this game allow party kicking like this.
Usually people respond like this “if you trusted them to join their party then you should be aware they can kick you if they want”
but its a easy to counter falasy with “if they trusted you to let you join then you should have no right to kick them or next time don´t let them in”
I have heard of peeps kicking others but its nvr happened to me, i guess it could be frustrating, perhaps group with friends or guild, then if you do something wrong they can advise you on how its done:).
The only ones asking for zerker builds are trying to do speed runs. If you want to do speed runs then by all means zerker is the way to go (assuming you are a decent player, otherwise you are a liability for when the content starts to become difficult).
If you want to do dungeons for the fun of it, then it makes absolutely no difference what your build is and any intelligent player knows that. It’s hard to argue with the efficiency of a zerker build when doing speed runs.
I just hate playing games like work so I just ignore those groups. Consequently the zerker build people tend to want to stick together. I would just steer clear of them since they don’t want to play with anyone that doesn’t have a cookie cutter build like them anyway.
Honestly, just join an active guild and do guild runs or just make sure you aren’t joining a group that is looking for speed running. Leave the speed runs for speedrunners. That way everyone wins.
I play zerk warrior, im happy to group with anyone, thou that said if i group with say someone in magic find etc i get huge agro as they don’t have the damage to share it, then i have to play 200% better whilst others have an easy time, i don’t complain it’s my choice of play after all.
I think this is perhaps another reason zerks do not like to play with anyone other than zerk, well that and speed runs.
I don’t want to be the one raining on people’s parade before they even grab their confetti, but remember cojo-I call him cojo were close like that-said that the answer to raiding is underway? I didn’t see It explicitly mentioned in the post. Did I miss it? Or was ikittend of cryptically stuck in there? Or was it just not mentioned at all? All in all I’m excited to see where this takes gw2 but wanted to see if maybe someone had insight into this.
I think a-nets answer is to give us bad 3d platforming, what’s your story?:D
Titan….well when this is released it will be a forum repeat of every tittle
‘’no progression’’
‘’wtf this sucks’’
‘’ unbalanced pvp’’
‘’you promised wah wah wah’’
Gw2 at that time would of had much more time to grow and mature, also GW2 is free basically so whenever a new mmo comes a long people are more inclined to play it and try it with WoW its ‘’aaah i have a monthly sub….ill keep playing for a while longer i have put X hours into this game after all’’
Titan: will be ages away i guarantee you there re-developing or designing for the new consoles right now.
annd none of us know wtf titan is anyway so no point in bringing this up, it might be an MMO FPS and that can kiss my shiny baby butt.
Don’t misunderstand me, i love gw, i played gw1 for over 5 years and couldn’t have been happier, i bought gw2 around 3 month ago and i am already thinking on quitting, i still play gw1 sometimes, and wish a-net would focus on the main game not the silly mini games and 3d platforming in gw2.
EDIT: If you played gw1 log back in and ask how many got gw2 and were unhappy.
Diablo III sold over 10 million units in 6 months.
And for how long was D3 in development? Why won’t they just release D4?
Why does Blizzard have to resort to the subscriptionmodel + ingamestore?
The problem with WoW is no one knows how many eastern people play it.To be honest i have no idea how many play blizzard products, as for Diablo 3 it dead now, but wow wont die even with a subscription, the reason people pay for it? that is simple to answer, around 8 million peeps think the game is worth paying for to play.
One question that comes to my mind is, when Blizzard release Titan and Wow goes free to play, will Gw2 have even the player base that Gw1 has at the moment? i don’t think bad 3d platforming will save it.
Titan went back to the drawing board in case you’re not caught up on current events… it’s still years out now.
I know it went back to the drawing board, but the op is talking in 5 years.

The success of Guild Wars 2 can’t be denied. The game innovated on a lot of grounds at a time where MMOs became increasingly stale. It is still in a young phase but if A.net keeps the pace up, this game is bound to be a huge competitor to any other fantasy MMO on the market, and comfortably settle on the second place.
In five years, people will be talking about GW2-killers the way WoW-killers were the trend yesterday. Every new MMO will try to mimic the GW2 success formula, no trinity, shared pve drops and nodes, down-scaling, no gear grind. Even WoW will to do this to an extent to keep their subscriptions up, probably their next expansion is going to be part GW2-clone.
Despite all the hate speech on the forums, the game is incredibly active and very enjoyable. It’s getting better with every patch which is once every 2 weeks. This game is the new standard by which new MMOs will be judged. Let this be my prediction.
I think gw2 will kill itself, Blizzard are working on Titan as we all know so id wager Blizzard will hold the top 2 positions with Titan and wow.
A-net really need to get a grip, we are being flooded with bad 3d platforming and a cash shop, Diablo III sold over 10 million units in 6 months.
Guild Wars 2 sold over 3 million units in 5 months, i don’t think even today 3 million play gw2, thou i could be wrong.
Peeps quit for various reasons, no endgame is one, and for me unless they quit flooding us with bad 3d platforming Gw2 will have one less.
Thinking on what makes a good game and looking back at the best there has been, wow comes to mind, at it’s best it had over 20 million players, peeps who paid to play,
i know nothing will ever come close to the mighty Warcraft, but this i do know, filling gw2 with bad platform jumping sure wont.
A-net is a business like any other and im sure they wouldn’t say no to some more customers, but i believe gw2 is on a decline even now with wow being as bad as it is ( and it is bad) ill wager a-net would love to have even half the player base wow has,
now a-net are not stupid they are after all devs who worked for blizzard,
they must know a thing or two from the time spent there, they left as were unhappy with the direction blizzard was going, only for blizzard with wow to become the huge success it was, i think 800million made in a year, blizzard now passed this with mw2 in 16 days making over 1 billion.
Perhaps the devs should return to blizzard as i said before and recap, learn again as taking what was a fab game gw1 and marketing the sequel with dynamic events and a good living story then change the game almost to a platformer, i guess thinking this will draw in more custom? keep the current player base happy ? tbh i really have no idea what they are thinking.

Well said, Harbard.
I also signed up to play an MMORPG.
There’s a lot more I could add, but there have been many on this thread that have expressed the same sentiment. Harbard, thank you for your voice here, you echo my feelings and my guild’s feeling very well in your posts.
I feel for you…because genres evolve. What used to be an RPG is nothing like any MMO really. MMOs are TERRIBLE RPGs. I’m an RPG guy from a long time ago and this is the first mmoRPG I can play for any length of time.
The genre is evolving. Rift had some jumping. SWToR had some jumping and I suspect future games will have a lot more of it. Genres evolve all the time. If you don’t like the way it’s evolving, it will simply evolve without you.
How far will the game evolve if a-net continue to evolve along a path ( going by this post) a large % don’t want? will gw2 be another rift? a game that started great but is now laughed at.
Say your playing rift and most respond …Rift lol
EDIT: What is interesting is thou both the games you mention are fail.
And you think they failed because they had jumping? I think they failed because they had nothing to offer but gear grind. I know someone personally who loved Rift, took a break and couldn’t catch up with his guild after the update. He just couldn’t spend the time and got tired of playing alone even though he wanted to play with his guild. It had nothing to do with jumping.
SWToR didn’t fail because of jumping either. Nice try though.
I didn’t say either did, Nice try thou:P.
I agree with you op, she is absolutely fab
.
I only have 2 lvl80 toons, one is guard the other warrior, i love them both lots, i would say warrior is the most fun but thats only my view a friend says guard.
If you want to dps and be invited everywhere go warrior, look gw2lfg and you will see cof and zerk warriors fill almost 50% of the site.
If you like being tanky and possibly the best survival in game, guard is the way.
I really, really hope the devs realize that this is a too vocal, but very small community of complainers, and that the rest of us lurkers or even non-forum dwellers really adore their bravery at breaking MMO conventions.
And where do you get this from ? how do you know how many peeps like or dislike anything in gw2?
If anything going by this thread alone, most want the sequel to gw1 not the sequel to ( insert random Nintendo platformer ).
I bet the devs know what content is being played. You don’t know. I don’t know, but they do. And since this is the content they’re creating, one would think that it’s popular. Otherwise why bother?
But you forget one thing, jumping is forced upon us, from completing a zone to fracts, to just about all jumping in gw2.
Nothing IS forced on you. YOU chose to play this game and you knew or had ample opportunity to find out what the game was about. Your simply forced upon your self to complete things in effect YOU are your worst enemy.
Not true tbh i purchased gw2 as a sequel to gw1 marketed as being focused on dynamic events and living story, like many others in gw1 we waited for the sequel to our fav game with baited breath.
So your saying you blindly buy things with out looking up any info on it and viewing no videos? I think your doing your self a great disservices if you cant look up info on things before you buy them video games is one thing but if you do this for everything you buy i think your in for a lot more problems then missing out on a few competition in a GAME.
I waited years for this game, the sequel to gw1 a game without jumping, sure i knew we could jump in gw2, you can jump in for example wow too, just the full game doesn’t evolve around jumping, so if i dont want excluded from just about everything in gw2 im forced to jump to be involved.
Why having jumping if it not used?
Making use of jumping is one thing, turning gw into a platform game is another.
And what dose rolling skill shots openness of loot do to the game?
Why not start a thread on that if you want to know?:P

Jski is right. Take charge of your life. If you want an achievement then persevere. If you don’t, it’s Ok. You will live.

Most (if not all) guild leaders I know agree with me when I say the guild roster is so very sad in this game. It seems nothing more than a glorified over complicated friends list.
So I nearly fell out of my chair when the devs finally did something to the roster in the last patch.
Then felt the usual disappointment when I realized that all they did was add something to make it even more unfriendly. So now I have to confirm each upgrade boost I make instead of just spamming the boosts. What a pointless update
Seriously Anet your game is called “GUILD WARS 2”, so why why why do we not have a useful roster after 9 months?
I can’t believe with so limited resources available you chose to spend them on adding a “let me annoy you by asking if you are sure” button to the roster. Then again, I can believe it :S
Another thing, where is the guild wars?
Is there any plans to make a look for group facility within gw2?, having to use gw2lfg is kinda sucky.
I like JPs, but only when balanced well between risk/reward/fun. Long ones that make you start all the way over no matter where you fail suck. Goemm’s Lab used to be like that, but I think that was fixed, and now its not so bad if you fall. I just hate when theres alot of enemies in annoying places, or unforgiving falls.
Which is fine, but the problem atm is gw2 is jumping focused, i want a mmorpg,
perhaps a-net devs should return to blizzard and relearn what it was that made gw1 the huge success it was, if this current direction on platform jumping continues i can see gw2 turning into nothing more than a cliche game.
EDIT: Sorry for being so blunt, but this platform direction is frustrating to a long time a-net customer…
(edited by mesme.5028)
I’m currently in a conversation with the latest ‘owner’ of the camera system and we’ll see what comes of that.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, my issue with the jps is not camera angle but the jps themselfs, i hate jumping and now its a huge part of the game, this restricts me from going places, take fracts for example, now with a gear progression i cant get, i only pve and got gw2 for the way is was marketed, dynamic events etc.
I can honestly say, if id known gw2 was going to be more about jumping and a platform game styled i wouldn’t have bought it.
Why can we get more dungeons, ones without the platform jumping, cant gw2 be more like the mmorpg is was marketed as?.
If i wanted to play a game which involved jumping, id have chosen that line of game, perhaps assassins creed or something. I know a-net are trying to make gw2 as fun as possible with max diversion, but cant we just have an mmorpg? as you said yourself gw2 isn’t the best at jumping, so why all the focus on something the game is bad at? can’t there be more focus on what the game is good at?.
Any chance we could buy a new spacebar from the gem store soon?:P
Idk about getting excited, but they way some pvpers treat someone who is new to pvp is enough to put you off ever doing it again, so perhaps if pvpers need more peeps, try being nicer to new players who join.
I see no problem with the reward, i think it should be more of a reward to their loyal fanbase, perhaps 5000 would be better.
Jps are just ……http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RD89wjUQZCw

Will we ever get Ritualist, Dervish and Monks back? or any new professions or races?
i would love to have them back and im sure some other peeps would too.
EDIT: I dont know if a-net speak to us or not, if not anyone have a idea about the professions?:).
(edited by mesme.5028)
I started about 8 weeks ago and i felt exactly the same as you do, i even considered just deleting gw2 as it felt like a single player game, but im glad i stuck with it.
As others have said go to queensdale ( the human area) you can get to lions arch by going into heart of the mists, ( the pvp icon at the top of the screen) then do some basic pvp instruction thing and you can go lions arch, in lions arch is the portals to all the citys, from there go to the human one.
There will be lots in map chat saying where the next event is, just go there and join in,
the game changes from being a solo game to a mmo at this point, at lvl 30 you can look or post gw2lfg for ac dungeon story mode, a few lvls later you can go explore, doing the events and some dungeons you will be surprised how quick the levels can go and the being alone feeling will be gone.
I play alone unless i do a dungeon, im also guildless, most guilds have vent or some other voice chat, ive tried a few guilds but im always left not knowing whats going on, in guild groups most are in vent and they do things and i just see them all move, you then get the " oh you should get vent, we are having a good laugh" oh sorry you cant, then someone will say why not, and you get the aww that sucks.
I know peeps don’t remember im deaf, having to explain a lot id rather play alone, i do have a nice group of friends ive met in gw2 and do dungeons with them:).
So no more professions? how does the story work? my main professions in gw1 were monk and ritualist, so what happened to them? how does this fit in with the story?
Ive been waiting and waiting to get my characters back ( i know they would be new ofc)
i started my monk way back in the beginning of gw1, isnt gw2 meant to be a part of gw1?
So what happened? “Whats your story” my monk and my ritualist have been erased from my story.
EDIT: I almost feel like i wasted all those years now
(edited by mesme.5028)
Looking at the results i sort of guessed ranger would be the worst in pve, i think if a-net had made ranger a little more like gw1 ranger and allowed the player a build without a pet could perhaps work.
Say for example short bow on equip stows pet whilst decreasing the cds of skills and increasing short bow damage.
Endgame is for example in chess when few pieces are left the game changes.
Now with a mmo i guess it is when you are at the point of being full dungeon geared and are ready to move on to something more appropriate to your gear / level
Now A-net do give us new content, if you consider southsun or indeed any world boss, it’s just a zerg which you could possibly do naked.
I thought a-net said gw2 wouldn’t be a grind, ascended is a grind for some gear progression.
Are you going to post results now you got 1000 or not?
Anyone else know how to make a survey who will post the results?
I do love gw2, thou i wish it was gw2 and not a new game with the lore of gw.
The game just feels nothing like gw, the profession’s are missing some of the original favorite’s, Ritualist and Dervish were loved, instead we got engineer, pffft thanks a lot.
Of the professions we did get, some just bad interpretations of the ones we had, take Mesmer for example, i loved my gw1 Mesmer and her play style, what they gave us is not the Mesmer most loved.
I think gw2 will last a while, thou i feel the gem store is showing a-net in a bad light,
with all the offers they have, you could be forgiven for thinking you are playing a blizzard product. On the blizzard note, i wonder how well gw2 will survive when World of Warcraft goes f2p on release of Blizzards next gen mmo Titan, i guess we will have to wait and see:).
Good insight. People are rather hostile to the Gem store and for many reasons. One reason is that it’s a cash grab, but I can’t blame Anet – they gotta make money. Sometimes people are a bit to hostile to the notion of a company doing what companies do… profit.
One problem I have with the gem store is there aren’t enough things in there. We need more clothes, more everything. I would spend a lot of money in there if there were more appealing things.
People have commented on how GW2 is a niche game, and that’s one thing I like about it. Let WoW and Titan do what they do – let them get 10, 15, 100, 200 million players and I, along with many others, will still enjoy GW for the style, the combat and the lore. A lot of folks get hung up on how many subscribers an MMO has, and that’s understandable – but mass appeal is not equal to a quality product which it itself subjective.
Let GW2 be 2nd, 3rd or 5th on the World MMO stage, but as long as the Devs put their heart into this game I am a happy camper. That’s that I ike about this game, man; I can’t ut my finger on it exactly, but it seems the people who make this game really have put their hearts in it, and it seems like this for GW2 than most other MMOs
Also, again, I absolutely love Guild Wars in-game community. A game that is not marketed to the masses has a sort of “small town feel” and I really enjoy that. Let WoW and others like it be the Big Cities of MMOs and I’ll be fine here.
I really do like this game. And I tip my hat to Anet for what thy have done. GW2 just needs a bit more of polish and it will be, for me, the best game I have played.
The best games i played were Warcraft 3, League of Legends, The Burning Crusade and Gw1 share position 2.
Gw2 while i do have fun, it’s lacking, i don’t know what the thing is, but what ever it is, the aforementioned games had it in abundance.
I really dislike the gem store and how the game revolves around it.
I see where you’re coming from to a degree. See on one hand I do like the gem store, I like the idea, I like micro transactions, hell, again, I wish there was more in the store – but the emptiness I feel is how it seems professions are rendered useless and gold making is kitten or sacrificed on the altar of trading gems for gold. It sucks.
The thing is this, even with such flaws, some of them big, GW2 still, for me, manages to be a kitten good title. Perhaps it’s because the other MMOs out there suck so bad; maybe it’s because I played WoW for almost 7 years and logged more hours there than I care to admit, but this game just does it for me.
GW2 is, for me, like the really, really nice and appealing girl who has a few physical drawbacks. I don’t know what it is about this title exactly – I am usually harsh on games and take no issue with leaving a “your game sucks” post and leaving forever.
I do understand, and agree to an extent, (changes girl to guy) lol.
I am quite happy to log in a few hours, log out and go watch a movie or whatever, upon logging out gw2 and gaming in general is forgotten.
Now i think therein lies the problem.
You said you played wow for 7 years so ill that as a way to explain…
from Vanilla upon getting The Burning Crusade and standing in front of the dark portal, like many others i hear illidan, YOU ARE NOT PREPARED !!! jumping on my mount and going into the portal i think, we shall see.
On exit of the portal i look at outland and pause, take a deep breath and yell back, FOR THE HORDE !!! lol the game experience all through that expansion had me in awe.
Yes Gw2 is fun thou.

I play a warrior only, and sometimes due to others playing like they have no weapon to dps with, i asked a few zerk geared warriors what armor they use, on linking i find 99 % of zerk looking geared warriors are mostly knights gear transmuted, even had a few who stacked vitality link their gear.
But the worst must be ones with transmuted magic find gear, doing no damage and reaping max rewards.
Warriors pretending to play zerker and hitting like they are 20 lvls lower as they fail bad at zerk war and transmute it to look like they are, this makes me laugh really.
Other than stated i only notice armor by color really, what combinations peeps have used and how pretty or ugly it looks.

I got gw2 so i could play without the grind.
Fracts is horrid and the worst sort of grind as it’s not even fun, say what we like about the insane wow grind but at least raids are fun, now southsun, i don’t even want to start about that place, but zerg and lag…some peeps getting random dced also…fun?
A-net# where’s the game you promised me?
A-net we get it we really do, we can jump in gw2 now /yey
You must forgive them. When game developers get new toys to play with, they tend to get carried away.
Josh: Hey Colin, we’re adding a Z-axis to the next game!
Colin: Cool story, bro’
Josh: I’m serious!
Colin: No way, Get out! Really?
Josh: It’s going down, bro!
Colin: How many meters are we putting on that Z-axis?
Josh: Over nine thousaaaannnnndddddd!
Colin and Josh together: *ROFL* *Bro-fist!* *Chest Bump!*
Josh: Dude.
Colin: Dude, what?
Josh: Jumping puzzles…
Colin’s eyes widen and glisten all Anime “Pretty Boy”-like!
Josh slaps a bottle of 9-hour energy into Colin’s hands and grins like a maniac! And then…OH SNAP! *BAM* Morrigan’s Spiral! *BAM* Mad King’s Clocktower!
Dead players everywhere! Hell breaks loose! Chaos!Colin: This is awesome! Dude, we’re gonna have to start selling space-bars!
Anyway, jumping is cool, but I’ve also had my fair share of jump hate too. Do you know how many times I died at that part in the Dark Reverie jumping puzzle? Over ni…oh, forget it.
Vawn: Ok…if I take a running jump right off the very edge of this mushroom cap at exactly this angle, then do a 30-degree mid-air turn as I reach the edge of the higher one, I should be able to make…*screamdie #4087*
-Vawn
P.S.: I finally did complete the puzzle, after about a month or so of dying over and over.

“I died. I died again. Hey! I died again.” That’s great. We just don’t want players to die in Guild Wars 2 – Jumping Puzzles: The new MMO paradigm
You made me laugh so much rl
love you humor.
I hate jumping
Puzzle quest’s, fracts jumping, dungeon jumping, pvp jumping.
In gw1 we couldn’t jump, but now a-net adds it to gw2 and makes a huge huge deal about it, it is like they discovered the wheel.
A-net we get it we really do, we can jump in gw2 now /yey
enough already pls, pretty pls, pls with sugar on top.
GW2 with NO real PvP and a zerg lag WvW and Pve with NO end game gets No 1.
the other MMOs must be really really bad. What is your definition of “real PvP”?
Real pvp or me would be a structure like wow arena, i know wow sucks atm with bursting peeps down in 4 secs etc to much cc and 1 shot macos, but a similar system
would be fab in gw2.
Something with a small map area a few places to los, a good balance between toons and perhaps a rating system.
I loved random arena in gw1 and jq, in gw2 sometimes it feels a bit of a zerg rush this i dont like.
I can live with many things in gw, from no endgame to fixed servers, thou servers are a pain being unable to jump from us to eu at will etc.
To many friends have returned to wow with regards to no endgame in gw2.
I can live with this, but being without my rit makes me sad, its the one thing i loved about gw1, i adore the class and its play style, unfortunately if no rit in next expansion ill join others and go back wow.
Just give me my gw1 rit and ill be a happy bunny, ive just purchased gw2 a week or so ago, the reason i didn’t get sooner was no rits !!!
Thou i live in hope a new expansion will see me playing my all time fav class of any game ive ever played
