So does this sodapopping person not have a forum account? I haven’t seen them on here yet.

He nvr posts on forums, he is one of the nets biggest trolls not quite Athene’s level yet but getting there he makes thousands of pounds/dollars a month from donations.

I personally don’t get why peeps give money to streamers but i guess it makes them happy.

I guess any professional gamer would have an impact on a game with the amount of followers these guys have but it’s not always an impact for the best, if he decides gw2 is a joke and not worth playing so will his fan base and they will then troll any others who are thinking of playing.

Sorry, not going to get started on that again.

Absolutely everything I want to do got termed “grind” so, might as well accept that, hm?

There are many things the devs said that were perhaps ideals to strive for for. I think take gw2 for what it is and accept not everything is as the original concept and wishes of the devs for gw2 could be achieved.

Okay, I’m reading through, and I am having trouble picking exactly what you think he said out of what is listed in the question you quoted just before linking me. I’m not going to derail the thread about it (Six Gods know someone else will anyway) but I will note the following:

- There is only no current alternative to acquiring Luminescent Armor than building the collection. One of these methods is regulated by RNG – the Carapace Coat Box, but the rest are regulated through token-related purchases.

- Ascended gear currently has an alternative. It, however . . . sucks. It’s very rare in the RNG and thus the only reliable method of getting what you wish is to craft. For which you will need Silk, which is currently quite expensive compared to its companion Tier 5 materials.

There is a considerable amount of things which can be done, but these two stick out recently as major issues.

Yes you can count on some derail lol

“At any point of the game you will have a choice of picking whatever you want to do and that’s how we fight grind. "

Devata, essentially your entire post is boiling down to you don’t like how Anet made their game. You want them to change it to suit your needs, because you don’t like a specific aspect. You consider it to be ‘grind.’ Anet has defined what they meant by ‘no grind’ and that’s really the end of the discussion. You don’t have to like it, you don’t necessarily have to agree, but that’s their approach.

I think the problem with some grind is there is no alternative which Colin said there would be.

Really, the only “no alternative” issue only applies to ascended gear acquisition. And then, only to the armor and weapons, since rings and trinkets can be acquired through 3(?) methods. However, as Colin pointed out, you can do an assortment of activities to acquire the actual crafting materials (which, doesn’t seem to be the issue). In regards to most everything else, yeah, there are alternatives.

Here he was talking about grinding levels

One thing we are fighting hardest against is grind. We don’t want the player to ever have to grind and do something they don’t want to do to progress in the game.

While a grind isn’t always a bad thing as some sort of time gate is required to keep peeps active and working towards something.

The problem i find is gw2 is like a field of fancy looking lettuce, no matter how much work i could put in i would still be left with a bland boring taste in my mouth.

A solution could be to have a subscription where A-net could then let peeps play any content they wish without nerfs forcing peeps to a gem store to gain profit.

They could then develop more interesting / frequent content improving both the game and gaming experience, until then gw2 is a fancy looking mixed lettuce dinner.

Some may defend lettuce now but ultimately its still bland and boring.

Best MMO game ever

Hi all. First topic on these forums. I just wanted to come here and say that GW2 is the best MMO game ever. I don’t care what anyone says. I know there are some people that come on here who bash the game because they are not happy with this or that or want to mention they are “leaving” the game because of this or that but whatever. Maybe they don’t appreciate a good game when they see one and find excuses instead of finding different ways to have fun with it. I want to change the scenery a bit here and say thanks Anet for the best MMO game and experience ever! Keep it up and looking forward to see what’s next in the world of Tyria!

I even still play GW1 from time to time and that is also one of the best game’s ever too!

:)

You say gw2 is the best mmo ever, why is it?

I leave the game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: mesme.5028

mesme.5028

I guess a few couldn’t care less how many leave gw2, they like the game so nothing or no one else matters, no opinions or reasons why peeps leave is considered.

Peeps who defend gw2 like its a religion they are willing to die for, yes great game community, the best they yell, then can i have your stuff lol bye.

But take a moment out of your sand box and think, why do peeps who have spent such a long time playing suddenly just have enough and quit? sure some may return every now and then to chat with guild/ friends or even play a few hours, but what is the main problems with gw2? is it the nerfs ?

Is it to solo play and random farm stuff in specific areas they enjoy? nerfs.

Is it to run dungeons, so few of them and if you repeat them you get…yes you guessed nerfs.

Is it the wonderful rewards for time spend doing fracts? nerfs.

Is it the champ trains? people playing together with rotations they run together? nerfs

Perhaps its not nerfs, perhaps its poor ls? perhaps its no new decent armor or skins other than a gem store?

Perhaps the lack of decent perm content?

If you love mmos you will love gw2, why?
If you hate mmos you will really love gw2? why?
Is it the way they took the genre and improved on it? nerf.

Why cant peeps get more content they want to play? after all the most important thing in any game is the player.

does GW2 have a future?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

mesme.5028

Gw2 has a future in as much as aoc, rift, aio etc but i think there are many problems,
one could be with players who played a lot and got a little burned out, when these players return its more of the same and little new.

Many had very high hopes, i was one of them and at times felt rly frustrated with the game, whether it was a result of the manifesto and how well it was marketed for others i can not say but for me it was, i had such high aspirations, which ultimately ended with grave disappointment.

I wish gw2 had been all that it could have been, a main game i could replace wow with, but now with 13.11.14 close even a gw2 expansion announcement couldn’t restore lost faith in the devs and the game, id suspect not much would change with the way the game was put out, i may play 2-3 hours every other month, but so wish things had been different.

Its a polite way of being rude, in other words the problem is you, they are just being dismissive and arrogant, you view or opinion isn’t one they wish to consider so please stop playing.

I guess it could also be use to try and get a rise out of someone.

I check back every now and then to see if i feel the game is worth playing again, there is so much to like about gw2 and so many disappointments, for me the latter out ways the former atm but each to their own.

Its a long way short of wow with over 1 billion last year and a new expansion in a few months, but then if the devs focus on the ls which to my mind is rubbish and then nerf all farming and try to push peeps into a gem store, it’s no surprise some peeps just downright refuse to support the game.

I check back every now and then to see if things have improved, gw2 could and should be amazing, give better loot perhaps hard modes to dungeons and more perm content, let the players play the game, give unique skins from pvp and pve that are not in the stores, give us something to play for.

Give something worth while and they may see peeps return and support what could be an amazing game instead of a mediocre cash cow.

The cash cow that is gw2 is a far away from the vision of the manifesto and it feels like they lied to us.

I did log in and do dailys sometimes, mostly i did dungeons and fracts, but i have got so bored i don’t log in now much at all, perhaps 1 -3 hours a week or less.

Running the same 8 dungeons forever now with nothing new and with the way it lends itself to stack, nuke, loot, skip, god im bored.

I don’t like the pvp, other games do that so much better and its hard not to compare.

It feels like A-net are cake decorators, a cake with little content, i am really disappointed in gw2 and have returned to gw1 which is a shame as i had such high hopes.

I keep checking in the vane hope things may change but it’s not looking good sadly.

What is GW2 missing?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: mesme.5028

mesme.5028

A lot of what GW2 is missing is plan out as such and would take more vertical progression to fill in what GW2 is missing say vs a game like WoW. “End game” to most ppl is about getting better loot and gear that the ideal behind raids you get gear up for the raids to get better gear from the raids to do higher level raids that gives you even better gear etc… GW2 not about vertical progression on that scale and more then likely you will see small amounts of it but nothing that is “needed” to do the next level.

This is just the blunt truth about mmorpgs and even just stander rpg online or not its all about the loot grind if you have no real will to progress the story line and that the cool thing about GW2 the story line is being progressed (LS) over added in a new set of gear ever 6 months (what you see in WoW and WoW like games.) So more then likely games with raids are going to have gear progression to get to the next raid etc.. and beyond the starter story or “box story” (story you get from buying the game or exposition) your not going to get that much but you will get an endless progression of gear that you need to progress to the next set of gear.

but sadly it seems such a system is necessary for long term enjoyment. Grind does not have to be grindy, if you excuse that paradox for a moment. You can place items behind challenging content with only a little bit of RNG for example. The one special thing about MMORPG: They don´t have an ending. So sooner or later you outrun new things to experience. GW2´s premises sounded nice on paper, but the longer I play, the more I miss incentives to do anything. And I still missing a few things. But I just cannot bother. Play because its fun simply does not cut it for an MMORPG in my opinion. These games are usually inferior to other games from a gameplay and lore/storytelling point of view. I am really at a loss just now. I like the game in theory, but it even takes some overcoming to log in, take 15 minutes for daily, and then go to Darksouls, Warframe or whatever else currently is in my gaming systems.

Its easy to get cough up in hype of a game mmorpgs are very good at doing this trying to get non mmorpgs players into there game but often mmorpgs are nothing like a single player game even if that game has some team play.

Its easy when devs say things like “If you love mmos, you will want to check out gw2, and if you hate mmos, you will really want to check out gw2”

What is GW2 missing?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: mesme.5028

mesme.5028

What i think is gw2 has a set direction the devs want you to go, things they want you to do, and it’s not always what i want to do.

Take pve, there is little to no focus on dungeons (if there was we would have more than 8 by now) they don’t want us running dungeons all day (nerfs to loot and gold shows this) but what if i want to run them? were penalized, fracts is the same, poor rewards and nerfed ones if repeating.

Take champ trains, devs don’t want us running these again nerfs, want to go an area and farm, the devs don’t want us doing this either, nerfs.

It feels like they want us in the ls, which i find a bore or wvw, which i don’t play,
why can’t i (we) get more of what we want to play instead of nerfs and less pushing towards what i (we) don’t want?

Another thing i dislike is the ascended gearing laurels from dailys and ore from world bosses, why cant we get ore from the content the ascended gear is meant for (fracts)
you get dungeon tokens from dungeons, why should fracts be any different?

Does anyone think repetitive dailys are even fun?

I guess to sum it up, i feel im forced to do things i don’t want to do and anything i do want to do is nerfed and feels like the devs don’t want me doing this content as my main focus.

In your opinion, time considered is gw2 a better game than gw1?
If you think so why? if not why not?

If the devs were to listen to your feedback and make changes, what would you change if anything?

If you could see something added what would it be? anything guild halls ? what?

If you were a long time gw1 fan, can gw2 hold you as long? if not why not?

From time to time the forums has certain complaints, but being as constructive as you can, what are your main gripes that can be fixed?

I’m just curious.

So i was doing boring dailys and thinking, how could they make this fun.

I was thinking was its a pitty i couldn’t hire someone to do my daily’s, then i had an idea, why not give us hire a helpers, the picks are fun for some peeps and give a bonus to items gathered etc, but the bonus from the helpers could be we can summon them all at once, you could select a tree a node a plant and helpers appear and run off within a set range limit to gather for you, summoning a helper of the same type resets the one summoned.

Heck we could even have them get dyed armors and new skins drop or maybe we could use our wardrobe? it would add some fun to gather and maybe dailys wouldn’t be such a chore, idk if this would be a workable thing or even if peeps would like the idea, but its a change from the forum qq if anything haha.

To the op, you may get some who disagree with you but it won’t be me, i couldn’t have put how i feel any better than you did.

Ive been feeling the devs were holding back, but now i beginning to think im wrong, this is the best they can offer, if not they would have done better, gw2 has so much potential but isn’t even scratching the surface of what that potential could be.

There is far to much focus on the gem store and our money “The most important thing in any game should be the player” Rly Ree?
/ gem store cash cow hits you for over 9000

If only we were the most important thing in the game perhaps then we would have a game worthy of gw2 title, id like some more pve structured content pls, 8 dungeons and fracts doesn’t cut it anymore, im sure peeps who play other types of content would like some too.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I think its a super idea in that you could get more content of the type you like and support the game whilst doing so, it could be more in the way of world map and bosses for train runners or more structured content by way of dungeons.

Perhaps even pay to enter dungeons like uw or fow etc, idd you could pay to enter areas for specific champs or battlegrounds a win with some reward and your team moving onto the next round with rewards getting better the more you win, idk rly but the list could be endless, but yes i like the concept of we can choose what we want and any new content cant be a bad thing can it?:)

Oh so the pick doesn’t give a bonus now?
The booster packs no longer boost ?

EDIT: It makes no difference how the items are obtained via the store you pay.

It gives no bonus towards any form of competition, and thus no advantage.
Boosters increase the speed at which you do things, not the level which you can achieve.

This is not a racing game, therefore the rate at which you acquire something is irrelevant to other players. I cannot use my pick to beat you, nor can you use your Karma Booster to beat me.

Pick gives a bonus and thus has an advantage.
boosters do just that and are an advantage.

Explain exactly how I can beat you with my pick.
Pick any “p2w” item of your choice and explain exactly how it can be used by you to beat me at anything in the game.

You have to be able to use something to win in order for that something to be a P2W item.

Ok for the point of discussion i choose gold, say we have 2 players equal in abilities and both just hit level 80, they both camp bosses together for dragonite ore, one of them buys gold and gets all the time gated ascended mats and makes full ascended weapons and armor, these two players then fight, being both equal in skill the ascended one will win.

Didn’t pay to win. Paid to speed up acquisition of top gear. The player who didn’t pay can still get the top gear and will be equal.

Your example fails to illustrate your point.

Pay to Win requires you to be able to pay to win, not pay to jump to the front of the line.

The example holds up, 2 peeps fight one wins due to buying said items, but i think we will have to just disagree, as you just cant except paying for an advantage no matter how long you hold it is indeed p2w.

I didn’t say the sky was vanilla, only your assessment on p2w hinges on the word win.

Win: acquire or secure as a result of a contest, conflict, bet, or other endeavour.
“there are hundreds of prizes to be won”

synonyms: secure, gain, achieve, attain, earn, obtain, acquire, procure, get, collect, pick up, walk away/off with, come away with, carry off.

Nothing you can obtain in the gem store grants you any kind of advantage over other players in the game that would allow you to “win”, with the exception of the Power Booster, thus it is not Pay to Win.

Furthermore, everything in the gem store can be purchased with in game gold via the currency exchange, thus it is definitely not Pay to Win.

You can pay to reduce time spent, and that is it.

Since Gold is everything in this game. That’s a bit of a problem.

Try to see a doctor about that.

In all seriousness though, this is a game. A game in which those without a lot of recreational time have the ability to stay on par with those who have loads of free time to spend in game. That is why this game is superior to some other games where time online is the only way to obtain anything, at least from the perspective of people who don’t have a lot of time (i.e. most people). The people who don’t like this concept tend to be the “leet kidz” who only derive enjoyment out of showing off their “phat loot” that others don’t or can’t have.

I am ok with the decision to disappoint those people as there are plenty of games already that reward that playstyle (see WoW).

I think “leet kids” feel leet because they know at any given moment they can do content faster and better than the others, and as a result look down on them as wanabees, p2w wont let you play with the cool kids, you can think you are as good, but you know your not, just a noob with gear they cant use like “leet kids” can.

And before anyone says, i don’t consider myself a “leet kid” only pointing out a p2w fail.

PvP isn’t winning for everyone. A lot of people don’t even play it. Winning in this game can be gold, skins, PvP, achievements, all kinds of stuff, and it varies player to player.

No. Absolutely incorrect.

You cannot win at playing dress up. You can only win where objective criteria are present for determining who has won and who has lost.

This is your opinion, and I respect that even if I disagree. To have unique skins for some people is winning in a game, whether you recognize it or not, in their mind it’s winning. Open your mind, think outside the box that developers have created for you to play in.

Then the game is already P2W just because you had to pay for the box, else you were never able to dress your toons. So the shop is still irrelevant.

Also all the discussions about picks are irrelevant since there have always been dresses in the shop, so that already let you win. And don’t forget exchanging gems directly to gold gives you much faster the gold you need as first buying a pick, then harvest 160.000 times until you have made some profit.

The game is p2w because the pick gives you a bonus, because you can buy buffs (booster pack ) that you can apply to your character, because you can buy gold, because you can buy better gear or make better items then everyone else at a faster rate.

This is true, any game that gives you shortcuts for RL money is a p2w game, plain and simple.

P2Shortcut is NOT P2W. Being at the top the fastest is not winning. Being better than the top is winning. P2W requires that payment of real money puts your character above what non-paying characters can achieve… plain and simple.

I don’t agree i would say games that let you buy better gear or allow you to make better items then everyone else at a faster rate.

What weapon do you want for your class?

Time gated crafting items can be purchased for cash/gem/gold as can legendary weapons, nice gem shop armor skins and unlimited use picks/salvage machine to just about everything else, saving you time and in game gold, i don’t see how gw2 isn’t p2w.

So .. how many players have you killed in PvP that you wouldnt have killed with your unlimited pick ?

Exactly .. zero .. nada.

1-10 Interesting comment, would read again.

I think the fract weapons should be a chest to allow you to pick a skin, im yet to get something i can use on my main, also idk why dragonite ore cant be got in fracts and we have to do trash content world bosses for it, every other dungeon you can obtain armor from tokens from doing the dungeon.

you get Pristine relics and relics which are used to get ascended rings, 20 slot bags, exotic backpiece, obsidian and pieces to ascend. Pretty big difference in why you don’t get tokens for armour pieces.

Yes you can get pieces to ascend but not armor or weapons (unless a chest drops more likely with the wrong stats) they make us farm outwith fracts for that.

Except most sub mmos don’t sell you in game gold, i say most but idk any that do.

Which is a completely different issue. The person I quoted didn’t want a cash shop, and I corrected him/her/it by stating that it is very common for sub MMOs to still have cash shops.

And it is fully possibly to buy in game gold in more or less every single MMO. GW2 just makes it possible to do it legit.

Im sure there is a lot of things you can do illegally, doesnt make it right thou that you can, cash shop/gem store isn’t quite the same as just a cash shop.

If for the sub fee I’d get 1) quality over quantity monthly/bimonthly updates, 2) no cash shop ridiculousness , 3) more permanent over temporary content, I’d gladly pay even 15-25 Euros a month.

Subs are usually a good sign in the MMO market.

Oh, except for the fact that more or less every sub-based MMO still have a cash shop.

Because gold acquisition is not “winning” in GW2.

There is no way to acquire an advantage over other players in any form of competitive content in GW2. Everyone has access to the same stats.

Ive only a few ascended armor parts, ascended weapon and trinks/rings, im playing around 8 months, where as i know someone playing a few months who has full ascended and legendary weapons all got from cash/gem/gold, nuff said i think:P.
