Back to back dungeons yesterday, fractals the day before along with dailies and farming /mapping party in orr, plus we ran around on our low alts helping out. Having a great time.

For us casual means casual; we understand people have real lives and responsibilities so there are no minimum hour/days required to keep your membership like some guilds.

There is no division between the members with high level and low level characters, if someone needs a hand, or even just wants to hang out while they do their dailies, there is always someone willing to group up. Groups are both scheduled and form spontaneously for everything from dungeons to mapping.

We have a great group of people that I am incredibly proud of. Hi Lotariel,

I’m sorry you’ve run into so many bad guilds and situations. I wish you were on Ferguson’s Crossing because you deserve a guild that treats you right. I’m not here to hard sell you, I know you probably want to stay on that server in case your friend comes back, I just wanted to let you know that good guild do exist. I went through a few horrible ones when I first started playing MMO’s, and when they’re bad, they are really, really bad.

If you can stand a little advice I have some ideas that might help.

First, try looking for a smaller, more close-knit group.

Second, don’t join a guild that invites everyone. Ones that advertize in Map chat or copy and paste their info are usually just trying to get as big as they can without regard to the interaction of it’s members. This tends to breed more cliques and less cooperative play with new members and new (to the genera) players. Not to say all are like that, just my personal experience.

Third, interview them and do your research first. I saw a mass recruiter once tell someone on here that they wouldn’t, “make you do your homework” when looking for a guild. My jaw dropped with that one; I can’t imagine not doing your homework first. Check out their website, talk to the recruiter and/or leader, get a feel for the culture of the guild, ask to group with them first. You can find out a lot about a guild by the way they interact with you in a dungeon (which is a sore spot with you now, I know) but, if they understand your situation, they should be willing to work with you to earn your respect/trust.

If you want to friend me, I’d be happy to help you with whatever I can, answer what I can, etc. You’d be welcome to guest on my server and join us for things when you want too (the only thing you couldn’t join us for is WvW, per Anet) until you get a guild you like/trust .

Anyway, keep your chin up and keep looking, there are good people and guilds out there.

You might get more responses if you offered up more information. What hours do you you play, your play style (do you PvP, PvE, WvW, all of the above?). Do you want a big guild or a smaller one with a tight-knit community. Are you willing to transfer servers or guest? Are you looking for a 18+ guild or one that is more mature? The more information you give will ultimately help recruiters decide if they should contact you or not. With so little, all you’ll get is a mass recruiter who just wants bodies. (no offense meant to anyone)

Depending on your respective situations Hedonism on the Ferguson’s Crossing might be a good guild for you.

I wish you were on Ferguson’s Crossing (NA) because the guild I run, Hedonism, is just what you described. casual, mature, twisted. If for any reason you can’t find what you want on your current server and want to give us a shot you can always guest with us. The only restriction is WvW, everything else we do as a guild would be open to you.

Make sure you ask about the “casual” part with your perspective guilds. Some guilds call themselves “casual” but have hour/days played requirements. We understand your choice to have a life, a family, heck, even a job. In fact we encourage it because then you can come back and tell us mole people what the outside world looks like.

Speaking for Ferguson’s Crossing, I’ve never had a problem logging in or having a queue to get into the game. During special events I have been sent to an overflow server but that happened even when we were a medium pop. server. The only time WvW has put me off was when they were transitioning games and that only took a few minutes to come up again.

I am from Hedonism on Ferguson’s Crossing. We are a mature, friendly guild and have members on nearly any hour you log in and we support all the game has to offer. Our members are relaxed and groups are both scheduled and form spontaneously.

As far as people being maxed and not helping out lowbies, that just doesn’t happen here. If you just want to hang out with someone, all you have to do is ask. We routinely have level 80’s and level 15’s playing side by side. Most of us who do have 80’s also have alts that we are leveling and we have a nice mix of new and veteran players.

We are also a truly casual guild. Some so-called “casual” guild still require you to be on X hours/days but at Hedonism we understand people have real lives and commitments. We support your choice to have a life, family, school and even a job!

I have a longbow Ranger too and I get so much “friendly advice” about shortbows it makes me crazy sometimes lol, but, I digress.

Recruiting continues, I would especially love to get more folks playing after 11 pm PST (we are GMT -7) as well as folks playing earlier in the day, in our mornings and early afternoons (relative to us naturally).

Evenings are pretty healthy, though I wouldn’t turn away the right applicant(s).

If I had a wish list, I would love if they added more nuanced controls over guild invites and kicks. I may want a recruiter to be able to invite but, want to have kicks in the hands of only the highest ranking officers.

Also, since it’s my wish list, a mail feature to write to the guild as a whole with one button; for the times when you needed to announce something longer than a simple message.

Have I got a guild for you!

I appreciate the wall of text, I like knowing how someone thinks and what they are truly looking for in a guild. I would love to talk to you and see if we would be a the “one” for you.

The guild is Hedonism and we are on the Ferguson’s Crossing server.
We currently have about 29 people in our guild and I plan to keep us on the small side. What the final number is, I’m not sure, it depends on how many stay active and what hours people play. The most important thing for us the atmosphere.

The people who joined us do so because they are looking for what you are, a place they can play where they can get to know their fellow guildies and play in an environment that is fun and free of chest pounding and rage quits.

A great example of us in a dungeon; we had trouble with AC after they retooled it and we spent two nights working the problems rather than looking it up or searching for “cheats”. We aren’t perfect there yet, but we keep plugging away and we keep learning more about it and earning our progress. In HotW we four manned the entire dungeon and spent an hour on the last boss because we knew we could do it with only us four, we just wanted to prove it and we didn’t give up until we took him and his pet down.

That should give you an idea of the attitude we have toward the game. We work the problems, not our mouths. We try anything we think will work and no one looses their cool.

As far as WvW goes, we used to be on the bottom a lot. We were in a bracket with another server that was way above our (and the other server we were placed with) abilities/resources. We have since had the balance restored and while we still spend some time in third, it seems to be a much more even playing field and, we were in second place several times this weekend (I didn’t check in today to see where we were). I think as word spreads that things have been fixed, more people will join in and you’ll see a lot more effort going into WvW from our server as a whole.
