Something odd but will need more testing to have a better idea. Just posting it here in case it’s a bug as it isn’t easy to check.
Phase Retreat clone not granting boons/conditions or losing this property when switching to GS.
As I said it’s hard to check as our staff auto-attack does the same. What I saw is when I switch to GS with the Phase Retreat clone still alive I don’t see any burning, bleeding being applied on foe while I can’t recall receiving Fury.
“Phase Retreat” will often fail to teleport you.
Till now it always worked for me.
But.
When you lose your target so you don’t have a selected target anymore Phase Retreat won’t teleport you. Makes sense, but you do have the insta “shatter” animation and sound with Phase Retreat skill going on cooldown.
I suggest changing it so that you can’t use the skill if no target is selected.
I thought that every day restarts of WvW were to make thi sbattle balanced after u stop restarting it…. but looks like u have failed also this one…
srsly… u give us 2 french servers?? I think it’s obvious that they will co-op against us… I just don’t know what to say… It’s so dumb…

We don’t cooperate with Arborstone and never will we. We’re both in the same trouble my friend, matched up against a server we should never have been matched up against.
It’s actually the oposite that’s happening. Arborstone taking great pleasure stomping Jade Sea for some very specific reasons.

Since the fix to GS, I switched to Staff/GS and like it.

I run a support build and Staff/GS is really a very good weapon combo for it.

BMW, Audi and Mercedes opened a couple of new factories on some God forgotten island in the Pacific. The Germans working in those factories receive a 1000 euros bonus a month if they do play GW2 on German EU servers outside EU prime-time.
I’ve heard that some big structures, alas zerg guilds full of badies, left Jade Sea to reinforce the big structures, alas french pro guilds, on VS some time ago.
Is this true or just false rumors?

Why would you laugh at Mesmers using a staff?
Especially as you’re telling us you’re enjoying the support role of your Mesmer and the staff is one of our stronger support weapons.
I’m not convinced popping your phantasm through a wall in W vs W is working as intended and it could be seen as an exploit if it’s actually a bug. Be carefull with it bro.

And even if the tooltip is wrong it makes no sense and it’s complete garbage. Because you charge your mantras before a fight starts to be ready and at 100% of your possible efficiency. You’re NOT going to enter a fight with uncharged mantras except if you’re a newbie and forgot it. Mantras should heal when you use them, not when you charge them. It’s already bad enough having our mantras being subpar.
My two cents of course.
At least they won’t touch your Phantasms when you’re marked. ;-)
And let them have the illusion they’re going to kill you easily because they finaly marked you.

The Mesmer is a great toon, if only they could fix all our bugs.

Mantras don’t heal anyone on casting the mantra.
I was suprised about the damage of the Mantra of Pain.
This is strange as I always end with gold in a DE, except if I show up at the end.
And my contribution doesn’t come from high damage or kills.
Also our mantra healing trait isn’t working. Some said it heals on recharge but even that’s not working.

For me it’s actually a great profession for solo PVE. Ratio dps surviving utility is just amazaing. Just need to be carefull to avoid pulling too many mobs at a time.

It’s a known fact but that’s not the issue here.
I spent a lot of karma, gold when I could finaly respec to have some healing abilities available once lvl 60. I needed some healing power stuff and so on. Just to find out that our healing is kittened, bugged.
I think that’s one of the main reasons peeps are moaning a bit. Too many bugged or inacurate stuff. (skills, traits, tooltips, not stacking, not working and so on)
People are actually moaning a bit because we have so many bugs, kittening some of our mechanics and making us unable to function properly in certain circumstances.
As for dieing as last one in a dungeon. Same here but this doesn’t mean I was actually being efficient there. With the actual status of our bugged healing on mantras and crappy design on our phantasm for the regeneration we already lose an important aspect we could bring to a group in a dungeon. Because we all have to be honnest that you don’t take a mesmer in a dungeon because of the Mesmer’s dps. There are much better toons out there for that job.
I understand that aNet devleopment has probably more important stuff to fix at the moment but the Mesmer is in need of some attention.
Farming groups (4-5+) fast isn’t our strenght and can be often painfull. For me it’s linked to the fact that we lose all our illusions after one mob dies leaving us to cast again our phantasm (main damage dealers) and clones to go on. This delays everything and leaves us with the impression that it takes ages for us to kill groups of mobs. Also once 1 mob dies and we lose all our illusions the remaining mobs start to beat the crap out of our mesmer. So we have to put some distance between our mesmer and the npc’s before being able to start recasting illusions.
On the flip side we are very good and efficient at killing npc’s one by one. Soloing big veterans or easy champions isn’t that difficult with a Mesmer, as long as we don’t aggro everything around or are getting adds. I often see other classes suffer 1vs1 for those skill points where you’ve to spar while I could simply mash buttons randomly and still win it.
Staff is very efficient when it all goes well. But when it starts to get crappy and kitteny ,all your illusions are dead and everything on cooldown it’s a very different story.
Did someone actually tried to use double staff and knows if it’s possible?
And if yes if the cd’s of the skills are shared or not?
With three phantasm up it’s not hard to guess whos’ the Mesmer.

Not sure it’s not the case but it would be nice if the combo finisher kicks of after the 3s stealth or when the stealth is interrupted.
From what I observed earlier today, the combo finisher activates when it explodes on the burn effect. As long as you activated the skill while the combo field was up, even if the combo field disappears, the finisher should still go off. I’m not sure if that’s intentional or a bug, but that’s what was happening.
That would be great. Will check it once back home from work. I also don’t think it’s a bug as I wouldn’t see the benefit having a combo finisher on a 3s stealth.
I don’t suffer that much of the shattering distance as I tend to stay close to the mob(s) when popping my illusions. (PVE)
In DE, depending on the situation of course, I often try to be in front of everyone to intercept the incoming weave to drop a ethereal field on them (mostly staff 5) to aggro most npc’s.
Dungeons is a different story and I would really apprectiate they fix our 2 healing traits properly and fast. At the moment the only reason to have my Mesmer in a group for a dungeon is for the combos from my ethereal fields. For dps and single target dps other toons are much more efficient and their healing stuff does work properly it seems.

The issue is the scepter. As mentioned by someone they only kept confusion on 3 so simply the scepter moved away from being full condition damage.
I’m still trying to figure out how that 2, Confusing Images, is supposed to work.

I’ve never seen it pop a clone as the only clone that pops is the one from 1, Ether Clone.
I would like, if any of you boys or girls, could explain me how 2 is supposed to work as I find it quite frustrating.
The entire scepter should be moved to Power based stats and I’m not sure it’s actually the case.
The scepter is also the beginners weapon and it’s just too weak at the moment.
Both traits Phantasmal Healing and Restorative Mantras are bugged or not working as intended.
Mantra traits also need work. For example, Restorative Mantras only heals when you charge the mantra, not when you use the Power X skill. This makes no sense. By design, mantas are meant to be used outside of combat. I don’t know if they intend you to use this in a heavy mantra build and walk around mid combat charging them or what, but I am not seeing the appeal in this trait at all.
Not a rework but a fix is needed and I would say as soon as humanly possible. The tooltip is " Heall allies when you cast a mantrs" and not when you recharge a mantra.
With both Restorative Mantras and Phantasmal Healing bugged with just lose nearly our entire healing support aresenal.

Shattering Illusions is one of the things that actually does work properly.
Can’t say the same about a lot of other Mesmer stuff.

In dropping those ethereal combo fields in “zerg” mode so everyone and his grandma can proc their finishers popping chaos armor, confusion and confusing bolts.
Meanwhile having clones/phantasm throwing out their boons/conditions with the confusion multiplier from ethereal field combos, retaliation, might and fury from Winds of Chaos and not forgetting the Quickness from Time Warp.
May be that’s the real illusion that we seemingly don’t do anything while …

The more I’m surrouned the more Chaos Armor and confusion pops for my allies on my ethereal fields. The more allies with Chaos Armor are hit the more conditions are put on foes. The more conditions on my foes the harder my phantasm hits.
And so on and so on.
The more foes and the more allies, the better as the bigger my impact is.

It’s fundamentally a Support Profession because it’s a massive buffer/debuffer. Also a nifty combat rezzer.
It’s called offensif support but that’s a concept that a lot of peeps have problems to grasp.
It also remains to be seen how far we actually support and how far we actually use our allies to our own bennefit. One thing for sure, the more allies around us the more powerfull we become.

I think the peeps struggling with the Mesmer in PVE or DE are probably people that are rolling the wrong toon for them. Mesmer is just a beast in PVE and DE.
It’s area level +2 and not -2 as op mentioned.
I like it the way it’s implemented. By the way “some” loot is also upgraded to your real level making it still interresting to help peeps out or finish a zone.

It doesn’t get better in PVE and that’s why I’m only level 59 at the moment and not already 80 in big super neat gear.
I still can’t solo big champions
I still can’t solo 2 vets + 4 adds that keep spamming adds.
I’ve problems solo when I aggro or pull more than 5 NPC’s that are 3-5 levels above me.
I hate Kraits under water as I can’t solo 3+ when getting aggrod by them. I want my staff under water, spear is crap btw.
My Mesmer needs a huge buff!
I’m always in the front as I do need to get hit for the Chaos Armor and 2nd Scepter skill procs while protecting the clones that matters, to keep them alive as long as possible.
Also to proc the Ethereal combo “chaos armor” from leap (2nd skill staff) and blast (first skill torch) you need to be in front on the Ethereal field.
As I said, different playing style and may be you should try a warrior or thief and see if it works better for you.
Not my kind of gameplay so I’ll let others help you out with a build for GS/ Sword + pistol
I can although easily take on 2-3 npc’s at once with the regular aggro add causing by my illusions. Veterans aren’t an issue neither solo skill points. And I’m far from being properly equipped.
I presume it depends on your build and playing style Crothen.
Mind Wreck is the one going to do the direct damage and probably the one you’re looking for. Cry applies confusion and the other 2 are more defensive ones.
For me it’s different as I go for a condition spec and have confusion trait on all my shatters. I think the best thing is for you to try it out and see what works.
You feel dull because you’re at 100 000ft away from the incoming mobs while you should be in front, ready to drop an Ethereal field on the incoming bunch, tank while you pop chaos armor, summon phantasm, summon clone -> leap and do your stuff after that.

Illusions, clones and phantasm, run to their target to get in range when you shatter them. The shatter is also aoe so it doesn’t only effect their target but also every foe around them.
I use staff/scepter+ torch and go condition/shatter with max cd reduction on shatters/illusions/glamours + confusion on all shatters + focus on ethereal fields. (got 4 fields 1 staff 3 extra skills). The elite Ethereal skill field is priceless.
I think the 2nd scepter skill is bugged but will need to do more checks on it.
I’m able to chain 3x Chaos Armor and have Decoy + The prestige for stealth.
I try to tank while Chaos Armor is up for the boons/conditions and to keep my clones and phantasm alive. Especially the clone from Phase Retrait to have a 2nd Winds of Chaos running.
In events pop your Ehtereal fields as often as you can to kick off combos (chaos armor and confusion) for your allies. Only this should give you gold medal for contribution and plenty of loo. Just shatter or keep the right clone alive. Having 2-3 clones spamming winds of chaos together with your auto-attack (winds of chaos) is huge against the big NPC’s.
