That vid was fun to watch actually but clearly unplayable of you want any decent skilled “massive” fights. And we aren’t taking about 100/150+ defending with 200+ aao at a keep here.

There’s somthing fishy and I find you peeps quite “polite” here while having to play a RvR game in this kind of condition.

Good luck to all of you and fingers crossed Anet can fix it soonish.

1. If you remove Doorhammer 80% of the WvW population will be completely lost and are going to whine about how terribad the game has become and how much better it was before.

2. If you break the zerg 80% of the WvW population will be completely lost and are going to whine about how terribad the game has become and how much better it was before.

3. If you remove the aoe cap, 80% of the WvW population will be completely lost and are going to whine about how terribad the game has become and how much better it was before. There should never be an aoe cap, but without colision on toons and no trinity Anet has no other option.

4. If you remove Guards and Lords and go for a capture the flag system, 80% of the WvW population will be completely lost and are going to whine about how terribad the game has become and how much better it was before.

5. If you remove the ability to claim keeps, towers, toilets, laundry rooms, pubs, 80% of the WvW population will be completely lost and are going to whine about how terribad the game has become and how much better it was before.

WWW server and map limits, Queue

The problem is not having 500 players on a map. I’m convinced that the servers can easily handle it. The main issue with these kind of numbers is when two of the three factions clash into each other in a 150 vs 100 fight at the same location.

There’s also a big difference between 150 peeps from one realm moving all together from spot A to spot B and a 50 vs 50 fight as load for both server and client.

To give you’ll an exemple.
In war servers can handle 500+ on a map for sure, going to be a mess in Caledor but that’s something else. But I don’t think the servers and our PC’s would be able to handle properly, without some nasty lag peeks, a 350 vs 450 keep defense in Praag. And war is designed and redesigned for this kind of clash, but there’s always, and always will be, the tech limit.

It hasn’t always to do with graphics or animations or sound but it’s more that bottleneck effect generated by all the data that needs to be transmitted and treated in those big clashes.

I’m sure Anet, one day, will be able to give you those 500 peeps on a map, they just need more time and adjustments to keep it play- and enjoyable for everyone.

On my server there’s a guild “Obliteration” that’s quite specialized in PVE stuff. They also have a lot of peeps from other guilds following them in their PVE adventures. There’s a particular cave where you’ll, nearly always, find them. I think it’s actually the central place for all of them to join together.

Exo, but I think they disbanded, was also known for their PVE specific stuff. Specialized in massive multi cloaks, consumeables and rare items gathering.

GW2 is a great game and I did enjoy my time here. It’s also versalite enough to attract and keep a large playerbase. At the end it just comes down to what you really want to do when logging into a game.

For me it’s actually the best “overall” MMORPG out here, but as core PvP/RvRer there’s still one years ahead of GW2.

There’s no point in this. I know it, you know it and others who did and will read it know it too.
GW2 isn’t Warhammer and will never be, neither it’s playerbase. Your five points, and probably all the other ones you didn’t mention, fits perfectly War’s actual playersbase but will never work with GW2’s playerbase. Different kind of players with a different kind of reason to play and attitude. Don’t try to change GW2 to fit your needs and expectation but just play it as it is and for what it is.

GW2 is a PVE-PVP/RvR experience with it’s W v W.
War is a full player only driven PvP/RvR experience as all the PVE (aggro npc’s) have been removed from the lakes.

And it’s a good thing as we, players, have a choice and can chose wich of both system we enjoy the most.

I made mine, as some know, this doesn’t mean that I hadn’t a good time here.

This of course doesn’t mean that you’ll gain 8% more whatever globally as other “factors” increase your stats. Levels, traits and so on.

What’s certain is that it will up damage vs mitigation (defense) because of how both have been implemented while granting peeps in full Ascended an advantage vs people in exotic through PVE dungeons.

Ok cool. I was afraid there was some glaring problem I couldn’t see.

Actually there’s a glaring problem that you don’t see but not many are talking/writing about it.

If Ascended gear is stronger, even slighly, than Exotic gear then Anet is creating the well known PVE gear > RvR gear Paradox.

I don’t have to remind my “lost” brothers and sistas the LoTD/Tyrant fiasco I suppose. Mythic did made that mistake, twice in the past but they have learned the lesson, the hard way although. Of course it’s still “IF” than Anet is making the same mistake all over again.

Maybe you have never been chosen to be chased?
I was chased in Warhammer by no less than 5 guilds.
They whispered me constantly with insults so intensely that my ignore list was always full of their rants because I couldn’t keep all their alts on ignore. They opened up a ventrilo server to rant about me and invited me. They went behind everything I posted in open chat and the forums insulting it. Every battle I joined with any of their people they blamed me for any loss but never complained when we won. They would still whisper nasty things just because they could.

Reason?
I played a damage and healer hybrid and they didn’t like that. They thought I should be healing only. That was the lone reason they invested so much time in stalking me and making it known. My screen was pink with tells within 1 minute of logging in, it started to disrupt my normal chat. These were in every other way complete strangers, it was only some of their other guildies that didn’t like what they were doing that told me it was 5 guilds that were allied doing it.

Ouch, that’s mean and shouldn’t happen in GW2.
No real corrolation but I’m constantly chased and griefed by Liandel and Alanna. Alanna is cute but Liandel is just mean. It’s a fact that if Liandel couldn’t see my name she wouldn’t be able to do what she does to me.

Kalvix on the other hand got chased over and over again by a KoTBS in S&B. Another example why being able to recognize others isn’t a good thing.

Both are very strong support classes, Mesmer and Guardian, if played as support classes.

Deffensive wise heal/support Guardian has slighly the edge but Offensive wise Mesmer beats everything. It’s linked to some of the Mesmer very strong support tools, while being a decent healer and still pumping out a large amount of dps for a support toon.

DoK’s and WP’s only tank 20 clowns. When they face non-clowns they die like everyone else, only it takes a bit longer. It’s a healer after all. Same here in GW2 btw.

Give the Mesmer a go. It’s the most dynamic of all the possible heal/support toons out there. But you won’t be able to heal before level 60-70 although.

Because of balance. This would be the quickest way to create balance and ensure it for the future regardless of most things creating WvW imbalance.

Life’s great on Ruines of Surmia, plenty to farm and never queues. We just need to get rid of a couple of individuals that still haven’t understood that scores are for skateboarders.

What you dont understand is, on the EU brakets ~50% of the servers are National server.
So what do we do? We let 13 servers die because 1 US (big)guild think EU doors are more challenging than US players?

Why would those servers die?
They’ll go down in the ranking because they don’t have a full 24/7 W vW coverage There’s no reason for those servers to die as long as people speaking the same language want to stay together there.

Healing, however, is currently more powerful than the devs envisioned in this situation. Take the unlimited target heals out of the picture, and the turtle strategy collapses. It also breaks the classes players have started to look to as “dedicated healers.”

Only in this situation is healing too powerfull. The “fights” if you want to call them actually fights are already miserable enough with the poor healing and support we can provide. Nerf it more and the few of us left, many have already given up, will let you all have great fun with dps, dps till death.

Removing the cap could be a solution but a lot of factors need to be analysed by Anet I presume. (stacking aoe damage, damage from siege, how it works out during tower/keep siege/defense)

Turtling is probably the only situation where aoe healing becomes an issue. Otherwise in all other situations it’s actually very weak compared to the amount of damage being ditched out. Also the normal, non turtling meta-game in GW2 makes it so that it’s a skill on its own being able to spread out some decent healing, but that’s something for another topic I presume.

The cap was introduced a few months in (10 people I think). Usually you wouldn’t hit that many at once anyway due to collision.

Forget about Phantasmal Healing and Illusionary Membrane with your ideas and stuff. There’s no point traiting in those 2 of your main focus is dps and not heal/support.

Your regeneration, that won’t pop enough for multiple reasons I’m not going to explain, is going to heal and heal you for crap without a decent amount of healing power stacked.

Just leave these kind of build for pure support Mesmer and move on to a more critt/dps build bro.

I actually like this aoe healing centered on my toon or my phantasms. It’s a different healing dynamic but I can understand that not everyone’s going to feel comfortable with this kind of gameplay.

As a Mesmer I don’t suffer that much from long CD’s through mantra healing. Here too I’ve chosen my heal/support toon carefully for what I wanted to achieve with her.

Friendly health bars would be nice to have of course, for the visual aspect of our gameplay. Would be a nice bone to throw to us, support playing classes.

As I wrote above I think we have to wait before it’s confirmed that the amount of HP restored is too low. In WH AoR the normal setup for a 6-men premade is 2 healers. Here in GW2 in WvW you can already call yourself very lucky if you have one healer running around in your “Zerg”.

The game is too young to claim that a holy trinity isn’t possible. A holy trinity the way most peeps have in mind, may be not. But 2 heal/support, 2 pure DPS and one tank isn’t to be excluded for a 5-men premade. And go figure out who’s doing what out there in the borderlands.

The gap in playing, skill, level between dps and heal/support is huge. Above that heal/support players focussing on heal/support aspect of their gameplay being poorly rewarded at the end of the day. Because of this most peeps are opting for a dps build and leave the healing/support for/to others. Issue here is that there are going to be less and less heal/support players left while more and more kikoolol dpsers incoming.

Heals are actually powerfull and important in GW2. The smaller the amount of ally healing, the more difficult it’s to heal allies, the more important those well timed and placed heals become. Same for any other kind of support in this game.

Healing power.
I think it’s a bit too early for a healing power buff. Last thing we need is healing becoming too easy or important, especially here in GW2 in combination with self healing slot for every toon. Later on when everything settles a bit down and Anet has a better, greater picture some heal power tuning could be done.

Regeneration stacks in duration. It’s very common for me to have 20-30s regeneration stacked. My regeneration tics between 305/330 a second. I think it would become OP if it also stacked in amount.

I don’t stare at health bars. I know very well who needs heals. It’s called being a mmorpg healer Calae.

Heal support gameplay is difficult in GW2 but there’s also a huge upside for us in this game. There’s no way to identify us “easily”. We aren’t running around in WvW with a huge sign above our heads telling everyone and his mother.
“The healer, the healer, kill the healer first.”
And after a while people on your server, you regularly run around with, recognize you and know where to stand and to go, to get those little heals. This is what’s going to make your side win fights at the end.

Yesterday I even received a couple of “TY” for those little heals.

You aren’t doing anything wrong, it’s just the peeps that you support haven’t understood yet that it’s about time they let you finish peeps regularly so you too receive your share of goodies. They could aslo try to slow down their dps on NPC’s to give you the time to do some dps to have your share of loot.

Solutions
1. Don’t support anymore and go full dps and become part of the main problem
2. Find new peeps to support that will help you get your share of goodies
3. Live with it but make it clear to everyone that they shouldn’t count on you for siege, upgrades, whatever.
4. Credit Card

What’s all this going to achieve in the end?
The time it takes to coordinate all this, being very lucky and so on, those 10 Mesmers will have been roflstomped down.
Even if you try to Coordinate Mind Wracking (aoe bombing), the only way I could see some success with this kind of pratice, it’ll only work against very bad “zergs” and only once.

Tell your Mesmer to feedback their range when you charge in. Tell your Mesmer to drop Chaos Wind once you get in melee range. Tell your Mesmer null field isn’t only for him/her.

Phantasm Healing Range

Nope Nretep, there’s no spammable mass healing in GW2 and you’re right that the Mesmer is a great heal/support toon when build and specced for it.

For the regeneration I opted for the iduelist as main phantasm to count on as healing beacon. It’s all of course very situational but normally when setting up the heals I do

pull/run into
Phase retreat (put up the boon/condition clone up)
Put up iWarlock
Switch to pistol and put up iDuelist

After that I replace the clone and iWarlock by iDuelists if needed.

Don’t underestimate matra healing. It takes some time to get used to it but with mantra of recovery + mantra of pain you do have some quite powerfull aoe heals on a very low cooldown.

The beauty of Mesmer healing is that your phantasms still dish some decent amount of damage, MoP dishing damage on use before the recharge, Chaos Wind, Feedback, Time Warp and so on. Very pleasant way to heal for me.

May be you could use a small break Uman. If it’s getting to you it’s often a sign that you need to take a step back. Enjoy the remaining sunny days, take a walk in the world, recharge the battery and come back when full loaded again bro.

I presume Keineng is the US version of our Ruins of Surmia. A bunch of good peeps, always ready and coming out for the fight but can’t cope with the presented numbers from the greens.

@OP
All your remarks are only valid when you can compete against, more or less, equal numbers. Fighting highly outnumbered is a complete different story. Also circle jerking once in a while is needed as it’s very important for the “morale” to take something regularly, even knowing it’ll be taken back next 15 minutes.

I don’t know wads and with 10 peeps dpsing those clones/phantasms would die instantly. OP even mentioned he/she fought clones before and 4k critts doesn’t sound exagerated to me.

Not for mutltiple minutes fight and even in that build you’re going down fast with 10 dpsing on you. It even remains to be seen how all that stuff stacks in reality.

I’m heal specced with 1800 toughness and even with my regen ticking at 330 a second, stacked and my mantra healing I won’t survive 20s against 10 dpsing me down.

Sounds strange and if you’re telling the truth I’ve no idea how that Mesmer was able to stay alive, especially with 10 peeps dpsing her down.

There are some possible builds that makes a Mesmer tanky, without doing any real dps, but none that can keep you alive, with or without aoe heals from heaven, against 10 peeps dpsing you down.

Also if it was tons of aoe heals you would have seen a huge fluctuation in her health bar because of 10 dpsing her down, especially if the fight lasted 10 minutes.

No idea what happened there mate.

Had two warriors jumping on me while I was trying to get to a camp to get some ressources. I think both got a bit frustrated as they started to hit my phantasms after a while instead of focussing me. At the end both got zerged down by an upcoming group while I was again full health.

Two weeks may be too much.

I think it’s too early to introduce 2 weeks match-ups. It could be interresting in a couple of months as it would give 2 full week-ends but at the moment it would be overkill in most cases.

C’mon guys. It’s the Goon Squad and friends. Just bring 3 groups and wipe them. Two well organized groups should actually be sufficient.

It pleases me to actually read about the Goonies coming out with new “tactics”. Normally they put up a 500 men strong zerg and run around like a bunch of lemmings from objective to next objective till they get wiped by a well organized bunch of players.

PVE levelling build 50-80

My personal experience and not saying you have to follow my path of course.

I often duo with a irl buddy and he rolled a dps necro. At around level 60 I completely switched to a full heal build on my Mesmer and never looked back since then. Someone has to bring in some heals, especially when duoing champions in PVE and bigger stuff.

I don’t know and it’s probably a question of taste.

But a passive self heal of 19k heal/minute only from regeneration is worth it for me. And take my word and experience as full heal specced Mesmer, it starts to tic after 3s and never ends. I’ve seen it stacked up to 43s on my mesmer. There’s a very good reason I’m asked to pull and tank supply camps in WvW when there’s only 2-3 of us running around.

On a side note.
Yesterday evening we, 6 Biloumans and 1 add, charged into 30+ Vabis. We died of course but still had a lot of kills and loot bags. The key for our success is

→ Spam f when you charge and keep spamming it till you die!

Ruins of Surmia, never before in gaming have I seen people so tenacious (even to the point of stubborness) in the face of overwhelming odds and actually perform greatly too. Quality over quantity here, though a bit more quantity would be nice!

We’re like that on Ruins of Surmia.

Run in first, all together and don’t worry about numbers. The more to fight, the better, plenty to chose from and you can’t miss as they’re everywhere.

As for OP.
We fight from Saturday 01:00 till next Saturday 01:00 and none, I repeat, none cares about the score. The happy family comes out all the time with what we have online, even if it’s 20 poor souls versus 150 Vabi’s.

I think it’s working as intended.

Duelists → 3s regeneration every 3.x secs with the x as little delay.
iWarlock → big mystery for me still and it feels a bit buggy. At some point I thought it granted regeneration every time it attacks but, or it’s buggy or I was wrong. It’s certainly not every 6s as sometimes it doesn’t grant it. If anyone has better numbers I’m very interrested.

I’m heal specced and my regeneration (level 80 zone, WvW) tics between 305 and 330+ a second on me. It’s also very common to have it stacked 20-30s constantly after a while in fights against big NPC’s. (vers, champions)

It’s also hard for me to test it properly for the other phantasms as being heal specced with Dwayna rune, sigil of water and the regeneration below 75%, regeneration pops all the time from everywhere.

For me it’s a bit different as I’m full heal specced, different playing style.

I prefer that the mobs hit me and leave my phantasms/clone alone. As everyone knows Mesmer’s aren’t that good in farming multi-mobs but a heal specced Mesmer excells against Veterans and Champions if there aren’t too many adds spawning.

Is it really needed to call people that don’t agree with you, trolls mate?

Mesmer is a very good and classy toon in a lot more situations than only in duels.

The nerf on i Warlock wasn’t needed as it’s again a dps nerf on the staff without getting something in return.

So, is the scepter viable to you now?

WL has pounce and Anet gave the Mesmer Zerg pounce even through walls.
I want Zerg rift on my Mesmer for the next patch.

Portal has to be removed and replaced by something else, and this with or without rendering/lag being fixed or not.
