“Players who wish to delve deep into the Fractals will find that Agony makes progress increasingly difficult, until they reach the point where some defense against this condition is a must.”
and i will reply you with this
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Infusionto infuse your whole armor you run mission 5 times that was about 1 hour or 2hours for total newbie group
yea i know, I played GW1 and never had a single item infused but you could complete the contet where this was ‘needed’ with npcs who had infusion on default
so no lockout there
no but I read the official statement

it’s not the stats that lock you out of the content it’s the agony resistance, if you don’t have enough of that some bosses will kill you and thus you can’t beat them unless you farm a new set of items
and of cours it’s just a ring and a back item this time, but next time ther will be more and then there are weapons to come
that’s how you boil a frog, put it in cold water and heat it slowly because it would jump out of hot water imediately
If you want ArenaNet to know that YOU don’t want
- a continous gear treadmill
- lockout from new content if you don’t have the time to grind the newest tier of gear
- devaluation of all things you ‘worked’ for everytime new content is added
Join us and boycot the starting event of the lost shores !
Let’s meet up in the Mists(pvp area) and have a giant party there while the Event takes place.
If the trend of item progression continues like this and you can not play all content without grinding for weeks/months this will be the end of Guild Wars for me.
Remember you are ArenaNets customers and your interests should be theirs so let them hear that you don’t agree with their current direction for the game.
Party in the mists !
Boycot the Lost Shores event !
Help ArenaNet make GW2 the game it deserves to be !
PS: if any supporters could translate and post this message on the other forums (FR, ES, DE) it would be much appreciated
my expectation for the event:
1. as soon as the event pops up in lions arch my client will crash (and probably the clients of thousands of other players too)
2. as a result of (1.) the loginservers will probably go down
3. after everybody has logged back in, the instance server will die because everybody wants to do the new stuff.
summary: the same as halloween, a huge hype about an at best mediocre event
First: This is purely about PvE and all statements are based on my individual experience playing Necro in GW1 and GW2 focused on minions, PvE ONLY.
(i’m serious absolutely NO pvp relevance here)
In GW1 playing necro was like surfing on a wave of death and corpses.
When stuff died, no mater if friend or foe, your power went of the charts, you could spam your spells, your army grew and you were as happy as a necro can be.
In GW2 there is only DS charge to gain if something dies, nothing more.
“Yes but now your minions don’t decay and are permanent like ranger pets and you don’t need corpses to summon them.”
True, and I actually like this, but
why can’t we get the cooldown of the summoning spells reduced if something dies around us.
Or summons on cooldown can still be used but cost lifeforce when on cooldown.
This would have little impact on Bossencounters in Dungeons.
In boss fighs in GW1 minions were mostly useless but provided a decent amount of dmg and tanked the boss for some time depending on how much you healed them.
with blood of the master you were able to keep them all alive through the whole fight.
In GW2 it’s almost the same but we have no tools to keep our minions alive except for Mark of Blood wich is barely enough to keep them alive vs normal enemys.
A problem is, you can only apply it to minions that are in melee range with an enemy.
My scorpion thingy gets killed all the time if there are ranged enemys because I can’t heal it in any way and then I have to wait half a minute for a bunch of my total dps to come back.
This combined with heavy AoE and stupid minion AI, minionmaster is rendered next to useless in a bossfight.
(One might argue that it’s somewhat like a signet if you use it, but there is no benefit for you if your minion dies.)
I realy hope you(areanaNet people responsible for necros) improve the necro before I run out of character slots, I’d hate to give up on my favorite GW1 profession.
PS: Is this constructive enough mister moderator-who-deleted-all-my-other-posts ?
I’m pretty sure they’ll fixed it after the halloween event is over, the Christmas event is ready, the new year is done, the valentines event is there, the easter event is finished, the summer festival is in place, the thanks giving event is done, the next halloween event is rolling … I think you get the idea.
But then there are more pressing matters like the army of bots roaming the worlds, oh well ..
I saw my golem high-five the ghost thingy while they watched me getting slaughtered so I guess the AI is much smarter now and does this on purpose and not because of a bug.
I love the necro for farming. just summon all minions an let them keep the mobs at bay while you rush from one gathering node to the next. And with all the materials I can craft/tarde pretty stuff for my thief, yay.
It’s not that the Asura want to dominate the world, it’s just that the other races are too.. how do I put this.. mentaly challanged to rule, so the Asura have to step in and rule before the bookhas run the world into ruin.
I was just about to open the same topic !
I absolutely agree, having to do a specific dungeon over and over to get a full set get’s boring very fast. So please let us at least switch to an other charracter to have a little diversion, while farming a set.
From my experienence (talking purely about PvE) it makes little to no difference if you pick up all minion traits or none at all.
In dungeons your minions will die in two hits with or without the 50% health trait.
(except maybe the fleshgolem, he can take 3-4 hits)
And most of the time they will be annihilated by area damage within seconds anyway.
So no matter the traits your minions are made of glass but they can deal decent damage if they don’t get attacked.
So my advice is : take the traits of a non minion build to benefit yourself and just pick all minion skills. I myself didn’t feel any difference at all between playing with and without miniontraits except that without minion traits I’m much less screwed if all minions die in a fire or something.
My current build is 30 soul reaping, 20 blood, 20 curses and it works fine in dungeons and events.
The worst thing about underwater combat is how insanely weak death shroud is.
The casting speed of the life blast is so slow it’s ridicolous and on top of that it deals less damage. In additon to that life transfer is gone wich is pretty much the best thing about the shroud. I only use death shroud to flee because it’s completely useless to activate it if plan to fight.
