Hmmm, sounds very logical to me.The people who design the dungeons use scripting tools. They are not programmers. The programmers are the ones who program all the stuff they can do with the tools. The issues fixed seem to me like something that can be fixed using scripting tools. Therefore, the programmers can be working on fixing the disconnect issue, while the dungeon developers fix stuff inside the actual dungeon.
You are making the dc issue sound like rocket science. But the fix doesn’t need to be hardcore. As long as there is a way for you to get back in, its ain’t that big of an issue:
The player is in a party— Yes
The player has finished all bosses the party finished in current instance — Yes
Then let the player rejoin the party in fractals.
There should be plenty of easy and quick ways to fix it. Again the problem is priority, and Anet just don’t see fixing the broken FTOM mechanism before removing the shortcut, increasing the difficulty, adding veteran mobs and reducing rare item drops is only logical. Their way of approaching the problem is beyond me.
Player with lower health will outlast high health player at agony check if they both heal the same. Does it make any sense in any mmo game? And defense is of course ignored.

I just have to stay away from fractals for now. The effort and reward really doesn’t scale, plus you have to put up with the risk of getting no rewards at all. Last night we got the worst lineup, harpies/asura->dredge powersuit->cliffside, spending 3 half hours to get half way through cliffside and in the face of non-stopping veteran chanter groups, the necro quits. Can’t blame him either, armor was broke and everyone has better things to do than spending 4 hours on a ever repeating dungeon for a tiny little chance of getting a pink ring. However I was stupid enough to give it another try, ended up with someone dc’ed in mid of boss fight. It’s 5 hours for nothing but some broken armor. Before the patch, we’d probably 4maned the rest dungeon. No one has the will to do that now. The risk of running into cliffside or getting another dc is too high and all that effort for a tiny little chance of a slightly better gear? Anet must think we are all mentally challenged.
It is becoming almost impossible to run fractals without having to put up with exploiters/hackers/bugabusers on my team. When it gets to the level of people walking through walls (like the increasingly popular dredge fractal exploit) it just starts to become ridiculous.
I’m often having to leave groups because of this, since I like actually playing the game instead of just bugging everything. I have also started to report people seriously abusing obvious bugs (like the dredge fractal walking-through-walls bs). However it seems that anet does not care at all – these kinds of bug should be hotfixed not left in the game for weeks. Soon it will be the case that I wont be able to run fractals anymore because I will just get kicked for not exploiting.

A righteous man I see, who wants to extend his righteousness to other people as well. Dude, we humble folks are just here having some fun after a long day of work, we really don’t want to be banned by saints for how we played and we would really hate if someone rage quits just for us skipping some time consuming but pointless trash. As a matter of fact, if someone rage quits for whatever reason after a 2 hour fractal run, s/he is guaranteed into my perm ban list. But you seemed to care more about your righteousness in playing. Why don’t you spare the live of iceman boss in dredge fractals since he seems innocent to me and he killed the dredge powersuit? Why don’t you join your ‘kill everything’ zombie and pretend to have fun running the same map, same routine over and over again, all by yourself?
Please go somewhere else with your political correctness in game play. There are more important and annoying bugs to be fixed than your self esteem. After all, to be rewarded with a chest or some loot after a 2.5 h dungeon run is critical to us average players but now you are urging anet to fix the shortcuts in dungeon and make it into a 4 hour run without fixing the dc and other problems that f*rt to us everyday? You must not be human? Do you live in Arah?

There is a bunches of bugs right now that annoys players the most, i.e.
1. The pickup bug, when you run and pickup at the same time, you tend to lock up your toon. A very deadly bug when fighting jade maw or blizzard.
2. The unresponsive jump.
3. The self canceling dodge. happens sometimes when you use primary weapon skill 1.
4. The dc problem, bugs you from day to day. Deadly in FOTM since there is no rejoin after dc.
5. Very easy to get stuck under an object. Happens to player as well as mobs.
Some of above-mentioned bugs have been there for months. All of them bothers average player since, hello, this is an action based mmo. Now instead of fixing these bugs that really matters to the player, Anet’s top priority is to fix the exploits in dungeon ( and making new bugs that annoying player i.e. the cliffside final boss bug) and increase the difficulty of well established dungeons routes. I have no problem with dungeon difficulty, but hey, 1. please list the change properly in the changelog instead of adding 10 vet mobs sneakily here and there. 2. there are other more important bugs you should be fixing which really matters to the player.3. most of anet’s player base are here coz they don’t like the grinding, but now the grinding is heavily forced on them and you increased the difficulty, reduced the drop rate and make the grind more grind. Are you trying to kill your player base, Anet?
Anet just never failed to piss us off. After the karka incident ( I spent 8 hours trying to finish it but ended up with 4 dc and 1 reset in the end), and the massive innocent ban for something you didn’t do, apparently all these plus the bugs don’t matter to anet since it’s the player who suffers, but ANet’s top priority is to fix the exploits in dungeon and introduce new surprise ‘contents’. Anything makes us grind easier gets fixed in the next patch but things made us suffer never get fixed. This really tells us the character of the company and the mindset of the PM who is prioritizing the projects. Oh, s/he really hates us since after all the facepalm we get, we stayed.
Maybe its time to go permafk now just before whatever the next wintersday content f*rts in my face again?
lol, I ran into this thread since I was seeking some advice on how to deal with d/d elem.
You guys whoever think elem is weak should really youtube up. Elem is by far probably the only class that can fight zerg, down a bunch and get away in a shiny blaze. (well, a permastealth theif might be able to do that too but it’s more behind the zerg’s back)
A good elem will do a lot of attunement swap and that’s a lot of keyboard and mouse action. If you want to stand still, stick to one element ,or play with one hand, consider you are not up for it.

Would love to. Any vids? Really don’t see any staff elem working alone in WvW but nowadays you can always see a bunch of D/D elem solo. Most of staff elem will hide in the zerg and aoe siege. Im pretty sustainable myself, so I don’t sweat too much when fighting bunker d/d even in my D/D build. It’s the kind of D/D that’s bunker and can do burst damage on your single mistake who really gets me. With the amount of mobility skill, RTL, fire dash, teleport and debuff attack d/d has such as frozen burst, shocking aura, ice shield, how can you keep good distance from him? Maybe you haven’t seen a good D/D elem?

Thanks for the advice. After trying a P/D theif, I am finally able to kill a good D/D elem in 1 v 1 for once. Its one of the most difficult fights I pulled off. Was mostly lucky too since the elem decided to stay in the duel even though I knew his lighting ride is ready. Yes, so you need to perfectly dodge earth and lighting, stay in range and do perfectly with your cloak & dagger. If you are lucky he doesn’t run away, you can score. Oh yes, try to dodge frozen burst too, you wouldn’t want to get chilled by a high speed bomb. Dodge the fire if you still have endurance coz they do a lot of damage, I chose not too since I trait condition removal and the knockdown from earth and lighting are more deadly. If I failed to dodge the knockdown, it’s about 11k damage in upcoming combos that I have to pay and plus a cleanse for the burning too. So, yea, dodge them. If he puts on the lighting shield, be advised to stop auto-attack otherwise it’s another 11k damage. If you can steal his boon, it helps. Don’t think immobilize helped any since the amount of cleanse he has.
In the end, it’s a long and tiring fight. It proves a good D/D elem is possible to kill if he choose not to run away. But probably not worth all the clicking and dodging. In the future though I would avoid good d/d elem and hopefully it shouldn’t be hard to tell. I am D/D +short bow on my main thief so only when the time is right and I am bored I will sneak out of aggro and put on the pistol. On the other hand, staff, s/d or d/d elem that doesn’t use 4 elements are pretty much free loot bags.I don’t really see too many eles that can do 11k damage in the time of a shocking aura stun, or 11k damage for that matter, unless they are really glass. I tried a fu glass cannon build last night and the highest Crit I was able to lay out was an 8k churning earth hit on a complete glass cannon thief, I was so surprised the they 8 in front of the number I thought it was 800 damage. Lol
Anyways Gratz on beating the ele mate. Pistol dagger is a good combo for that you chose well, lots of stealth uptime. On my ele pistol dagger thieves are actually one of my easier fights. When I am bunker spec, I high burst glass cannon thief is my worst day when caught fighting someone else. Eles tackiness comes from multiple small heals, Bug burst > multiple small heals any day.
I am condition thief , and I can get 19k hp and lots armor, but he still managed to get more than half my hp bar after 2 knockdown. Its lighting knockdown then bunch lighting attack and then earth knockdown if I failed to dodge the first one. Not sure if berserker or even valkyrie thief can survive 1 knockdown.
If I stack might slowly, I can get around 12 stack and my backstab can still do more than 5k damage if I am fighting necro or guardian with strong condition control. But for d/d elem it doesn’t really work since I have to finish him off with 1 backstab plus a couple of heartseekers, but elem can either mist form or teleport or RTL or fire dash away. Some even turn around and frozen burst me which pretty much cripples my heartseeker. There is quite a lot of option he can pull off when i am doing burst damage, and it’s quite impossible to wait for the cd of his survive skill and his lighting or frozen shields are off to burst him down. Maybe a pure glass cannon thief can do it when the elem is off guard or afk.

I am honestly not convinenced that a 2h staff elementalist is a counter against a d/d elementalist. When I see a 2h staff elementalist, I immediately think “oooo, free kill”. :P

can you recommend a profession a class that can counter d/d elementalist?
They have amazing condition removal, lots of armor, every time I burst damage him down to 20-30% hp, they recover to 80% easily. And they have tons of stun, C/C, AOE dmg, not to mention their amazing lighting speed.
It has been really frustrating fighting them. No matter what build /strategy you pull off, they just do the attunement rotation and it counters everything.
Is there any build of any class can counter them?
Thieves are a joke when compared to a good d/d elementalist.
Anyone is a joke compared to a d/d elementalist with a gaming mouse.
I spent almost 7 hours on this event. First time crashed. Second time dc’ed and server is full when I tried to rejoin. 3rd time when we are half way done, there is a new build to remove this event.
Feel like i am kittenface.
7th hour working on finishing this event.

Apparently some players have been doing this event over and over. some of them claim to have found 4 precursor weaspons, 230 gold each. We are just having problem finishing it even one time
Was working on this event for 3 hours despite the lag and invisible karka. When the Ancient Karka started to walk away my computer got the lag spike and eventually crashed out. I thought it’s supposed to be a free for fun event, so I didn’t bother to restart it but instead I let my video card cool down for half an hour and took a break (480 is a heater). If I know the chest is this big, I would never have done that. It’s definitely unfair for folks like me. Please let me know Anet is working on a solution.

hate to say it, but this game is going downhill despite it was a good game.
I waited 5 days before there is an answer that actually makes sense. Before that, it’s all repeating ’what’s your cdk? what’s your email address’ over and over again. If there is anyone who needs to be banned for botting, it’s ArenaNet.
The customer support here is a real letdown.
Don’t know if I am alone, I was banned for “botting, using macros” and I lost all access to the game, the website and the forum. In the first couple of days, I was still eager to get back to my game but there is just no way to get to ArenaNet. I submitted 3 tickets, I tried there phone number, their email. If you are punished for something you didn’t do and you still like to play this game, you will know what I feel. I felt insulted, disrespected, but I still wanted to play.
It was 5 days ago. Now I have lost patience, and I don’t care any more what’s going on in WVW. How ArenaNet banned me and treated me after the ban is shameful. The lack of support is amazing if there is any support. I don’t want to waste any more time and energy on a good game running a terrible team.
I demand a full refund.
