Candy Corn isn’t really a Halloween Candy… It’s actually a Fall/Autumn Candy. Same with the candy pumpkins that are made of the exact same stuff as candy corn.
Here’s what is in Candy Corn. Looks similar to the ingredients in most sugary candies here in the USA.
Regular Candy Corn Ingredients
Sugar,
Corn Syrup,
Confectioner’s Glaze,
Natural and Artificial Flavors,
Salt,
Artificial Colors, (FDC Yellow 6 Lake, Red #40, Red 40 Lake, Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Blue 1 Lake, Blue #1, Yellow 5 Lake),
Egg Whites,
Honey Glycerin,
Mineral Oil,
Carnauba Wax
lol… I can remember when that one was working :-) During one of the early BWEs it was working.
Kinda funny that during beta it was working but upon release it broke and hasn’t been fixed yet.
Putting 40 exotic level 80 Staffs into the Mystic Forge and guess what happened?

I’m pretty sure putting in rares is more cost efficient… sure your chances are lower, but you could get a valuable exotic back! which you could sell to get more rares to put into the forge, which could give you another exotic! … and so on and so forth.
Putting exotics in may be a faster route, but it’s definitely the more expensive option too. Which makes it more dissapointing when you don’t get what you want in the end.
60 is too cheap, I agree with the people above who say the same thing. Maybe 60 tokens would be a good price to set for a Core rather than a Lodestone. Lodestones should be in the 150-180 token range, so that people can’t really get more than 1 per day.
Well, I’m not much good at saying what you should buy. But I can tell you that I have a Core i5 2500K, a Radeon HD6850 1GB, and 8GB of RAM.
I run the game at 1600×900 on High Graphics Settings. About the only thing that has ever given me lag is the Fire Elemental boss in Metrica Province lol, when he blows up there are soooo many particle effects. I guess other large scale PvE battles, my frames probably drop to about 20fps if 100s of people show up. In WvW I have not done too much there yet… I did get into some 20 vs 20 size battles and had no lag. But I would assume that zergs people talk about are bigger than that.
You seem to be looking at computers with similar capabilities to mine, so I thought I would let you know about how my computer is doing :-)
Yeah, My guild started a “Where am I?” picture game to get pictures posted of really cool locations, especially locations that are off the beaten path and wouldn’t necessarily be seen while mapping an area.
I have fun finding really difficult locations for when its my turn to put one up, and then I usually offer up a prize for the first person to find where I was :-)
edit* I’ll attach the latest picture that I posted for the game :-)

Coo!!! I want one! Coo!!!
Well, I know the Razer Naga Hex gets good reviews.
There is the Logitech G700 you could check out.
and even though it’s got a ton of buttons, the Logitech G600 is getting a lot of good reviews too.
I own the G700, but honestly couldn’t get used to using the extra mouse buttons… I need to start trying again, because I’m still skill Icon clicking and I’ve been missing the icons lately >.<
As for the G700 itself. It’s a really nice mouse. The extra buttons work great when you do use them. Logitech has a REALLY nice software to program the buttons too. It’s a full size mouse, so it’s good for my ~ normal, or slightly larger than average hands.
About the only Con I have, is the charging cable is stiff, alone the mouse is heavier than average… with the cable plugged in it is really heavy.
… As far as I know, Jewelry doesn’t even show up, so their’s no reason for a legendary in that field. But Armor, Yeah, I want legendary armor :-) More-so than any weapon.
7. Yes, (Mad King Outfit is AWESOME) and YES … actually… I’m very tempted to buy the witch’s costume before the event is over…. ANet did an AMAZING job with the costumes for this Holiday Event!
There will be a holiday event at Christmas time, I’m sure of it. It’s called Wintersday in Tyria. And I’m incredibly excited for it :-) Even if it’s very similar to how the Halloween event is, because I love the Halloween event as well!
1. Will you or will you not be buying black lion trading company or random number generation materials again?
Probably a Yes, but not soon
2. Did you buy them in the past?
Yes
3. If you would not buy trading post material/gamble, would you support direct to buy weapon skins and what general price do you find acceptable from a business standpoint both as a customer and realizing that they must make money as a business?
Even though I said yes above, I would prefer to buy them knowing what I would get.
4. Do you believe that future events will also be handled with random number generation to make profit based on limited time item acquisition?
They might be, Maybe ANet will give us the option of both methods to get what we want too? We shall see when the time comes.
5. If you believe that the future events will be handled in the same manner, does this realization negatively effect your trust of Arena Net in regard to handling micro transactions for permanent content?
No, but I’m much more accepting than most people
6. Did you obtain a skin or whatever it is you were looking to get from the black lion trading chests? From the Mad King Chests?
No from BL, I haven’t yet gotten the Mad King Chests… we shall see later tonight!
P.S. Thank you ANet, I’m looking forward to my 2nd chance :-) And the Halloween event is a BLAST! :-D
Considering that it is a Mad King recipe… I bet it will not go on beyond the holiday event. They might reactivate something similar during each holiday though.
Good Question OP :-) Hopefully we can get an official answer to this one.
It’s a very common material… the supply has to be out of this world… I mean… it’s the only material in the entire game that is literally everywhere.
but as others stated, price will go up over time after the event… how quickly tho, is hard to tell.
He meant candy corn I’m sure lol.
But… that’s a good idea for wintersday!!!! Make the candy canes “Trees” tho!!!! it would be more fitting to use an axe on candy canes!
edit* oh and to be on topic a little bit. I’m using up all my BL axes/picks/sickles. I haven’t had any ruined ore/logs/plant issues with them yet. On a rare occasion I get ruined ore/logs/plants when I’m being attacked while gathering.

Jeweler has the absolute easiest time getting from 1-375 compared to all other crafts (maybe excluding cooking) … so you complain because you need to use 3 ecto to get from 375 to 400? It makes sense with how easy it was to level the rest of the craft, that the end should be harder.
There are valid points to this argument tho,
One is that it is wierd sticking 3 ecto (exotics) into a rare item… you’d think that a recipe with an exotic item would have to have an exotic outcome.
Two: It does discourage making the rares. I’ve never made another rare after going from 375-400… I’ve only made exotics since then.
Transmutation Stones for the win! lol
You can craft corrupted weapons too, you need to purchase the recipes tho, and they are incredibly expensive to get materials for.
I love how they added the karma jugs. It was very hard for a casual semi-hardcore player like myself to get a decent amount of karma playing the game normally. But with using a booster, and finishing my monthly for the first time ever (1st time I went to WvW was yesterday). I got a nice boost of over 60,000 Karma (10 jugs).
The Legendary looks a little bit closer into my future now… maybe I can get it within a year…. and maybe not with how I give gold or other expensive things as prizes to my fellow guildies for prizes and such lol.
I’ve got so many things in GW2 that I want that I have more of the problem… “How in the world am I going to find the time to get all this stuff!”
I want tier 3 racial armor. I want Vigil Armor. I want the Kraitkin Legendary. I want a pair of Soulshard daggers.
I’m not really a hard-core player… so I see this list taking me beyond a year to complete… There’s plenty to do, but you just need to set a goal of the things that you want in-game.
I have my “carrots” that I am chasing. There are plenty of them out there, they just aren’t the same as other MMOs because these carrots only look better than all of the other carrots in the game.
I guess I will never understand people who must have a stat increase for an item to be worthwhile to chase… but I’ve hated all MMOs that were like that. All people are different :-) And GW2 doesnt’ have a sub, so you could leave and come back for new content later.
They are quite rare… Lodestones mostly drop in specific dungeons right? Wonder if a good idea would be to make Cores/Lodestone available from the Dungeon Token Merchants. 1 core = 60 tokens and 1 lodestone = 150 tokens. It would help speed up the rate at which people are able to get the 100 or more that they need :-)
I’m suggesting that drop rates remain the same, so that’s why the token prices are somewhat high. This would just be in addition to the amount everyone is already receiving from drops.
Yeah, I was hoping there would be daggers with particle effects too. I don’t really want to hold icicles… Dagger skins are so limited right now. Why do greatswords get all of the particle effects? I know daggers are smaller… so maybe make the particle effect a little bigger to make it show up better.
I guess there is also the possibility that they haven’t been discovered yet, but… I’ve tried a few of the same combos as greatswords, but using dagger parts and it doesn’t work :-(
The Quaggan in LA that says “Coo! … Oh wait, that’s not how I was supposed to do it! Cooooooooooooooo!” The 2nd Coo being in a more haunted type of tone.
I’m even happy with the event as it is now. It’s fun :-) and it’s hilarious running across an open grassy field to come across a…. Candy Corn the size of an Asura! LOL
The costume brawls are fun too. I’m glad I purchased the Mad King Thorn outfit… tho the witches costume is so awesome I might just have to buy it too… ANet outdid themselves with the 2 costume choices… they really are designed in an amazing way.
I’m sure Act 1 is longer because it is the first act, to warm people up to the event, to give time to fix bugs or other issues that pop up. And also, all 4 days are weekdays, so a lot of people are working or at school the majority of the day.
lol… I truly think that the face is 100% intended… a lot of characters with that facial expression truly look like a witch with a sinister smile ^^
lol, ninja’d and the above answer is better than mine, so I wiped mine
I would also suggest Tailor and Jeweler. You can fill 11 of your 13-14 equipment slots (6 pieces of armor, 5 pieces of jewelry, 1-2 main weapon(s), and 1 underwater weapon) by taking those 2 professions, and Jeweler is almost 100% gatherable from nodes around the world. Tailor Materials are mostly from monster drops. So the 2 crafts don’t overlap with what materials they need.
That way you can craft the vast majority of what you need, and you only need to buy a few weapons for your character throughout the game. Note: It is very hard to keep 2 crafts up to your current level though. You will need to buy materials for tailor along the way, thats for sure. I did these 2 crafts myself, and with the TP under construction back then, I had to give up on tailoring until it was fixed.
Can you give the guy literally anything? Or only specific items…. I think I’ll give him ecto if you can give him anything, just to see what happens :-P
But it will take me awhile to get the parts. I’ve opened like 30 of those bags, but not gotten anything but candy and a few gold crafting materials so far.
I sometimes wonder this myself. I do plan on going for a legendary over a long period of time though, so I’ll probably save most of it for that.
You could save it? Who knows what karma will be needed for in the future ;-)
Yeah, I couldn’t see any girl…. I hit “F” to talk to the NPC that gives the scanner, and instead I was talking to an NPC I didn’t even know was there because I couldn’t see her…. I got lucky that I was able to get the first clue.
1. You can throw an pumpkin with a small aoe circle of damage.
2. Fear everyone around you.
3. Damage and Daze everyone around you.
4. Summon a food table to interact with. While interacting with it, you randomly throw a bunch of food which can hit other players. (I’m not sure, but other people might be able to interact with the table too.)
5. If in the Brawl mode, this is to exit brawl mode. If out of fighting mode, this summons a loyal candy corn servant who follows you around everywhere.
That’s the best I can do, considering I’m at work and can’t read the official lengths of time for the skills and such in-game. I thought the fear was 5 seconds, and the daze was 3 seconds, pulsing each second or 1/2 second…. but I totally can’t remember their recharges.
I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t get any rare skin with 35 keys (bought 25, about 10 chests gave me keys that I also used). But on the bright side, I did get like 5 karma boosters, 30 Fine Transmutation stones, and a couple BL salvage kits. Which I would have eventually probably have purchased anyways.
I just can’t believe that people are saying “events require you to spend real money” … I mean…. In what way? A weapon skin is not a requirement at all! It’s just something that would be fun to have, but it’s not needed. The event is open to everyone! whether they spent extra money or not!
I was a bit surprised by the end event…. GW1 was really good that the “end event” took place several times throughout the last day. But the end event being a 1 time deal at mid-day Sunday in North America? (and who knows what time else-where?) … I hope I can make it, but my Sundays are terribly busy during the day…
If your bad luck continues, just sell your rares on the TP, and buy the ectos from the TP. Thats the only way to be guaranteed to get ectos from your rares ;-) tho it is an indirect way.
It should be in your list, you can’t discover it twice … I’ve noticed that sometimes the list is not sorted alphabetically, so try and go through it more slowly. The recipes/fields might just be in a different order than usual.
Yeah, I didn’t know how to better word that. ‘played hard’ maybe? :-P
I’m pretty sure high level players are the only ones with the means to craft level 80 exotics, so there is something that will be there to ‘reward’ level 80’s @Darth Danny. I’m pretty sure I heard it mentioned that there is an “exotic” level halloween food item as well. That also would be for level 80’s most likely.
However, the event itself should be open to everyone. Now people can stop bashing Darth, he wasn’t trying to say that low levels don’t belong in the festivities. He was just saying that there should be some tougher and rewarding level 80 content as well, for those who work hard in GW2 and have gotten their characters maxed. And I’m pretty sure there is :-)
oh, I guess I heard that it’s not karma, but you use candy corn to rent them lol :-)
Not easy. The Trading Post is Global… all the new items would be able to be sold on the TP with only a portion of the world being able to attain those items through normal means.
Ghost peppers are all along the paths in-between the Orichalcum nodes though ;-) I’m sure there are a lot of people like me who gather all the Orichalcum every day… as well as everything in-between. I’m pretty sure that Ghost Peppers respawn relatively quickly as well, unlike patches of foods. food patches have the long respawn timer.
you can rent the weapons OR craft permanent versions. His statement is very clear. Also says the renting is able to be done without gold… maybe karma then?
Whats not clear is how difficult it is going to be to get the pieces necessary to craft the permanent versions…. probably going to be quite difficult, I would assume.
I’m excited too :-) I was really happy with these other non-holiday updates! Gonna make the game even more fun than it already is! As well as make Tyria even more dynamic :-)
Welcome to the world of Marketing. You always say the earliest and latest dates possible while still being technically correct. That’s how it works. Not only ANet does this. Almost every company out there does this. And remember, come Wintersday they’ll be doing the exact same thing. So be ready for it when that time of year comes.
Grats Ten!
@Lanrin: It was kinda obvious when the OP was asking for “/age” that it was going to be used for something. I agree with what the OP did. Hardcore players will get Dawn themselves (or already have it). And Casual players would take years upon years to ever use it for a Legendary and most would just sell it. Leaving just the semi-hardcore group that was most likely to use as well as need it was really the best decision :-)
I didn’t even enter the contest because I don’t want Dawn/Sunrise, and I already got my pre-cursor. (of course, getting Venom was easy/cheap compared to most others)
I think that 2.5% is coming from the “putting in 4 exotics has a 1/40 chance” so therefore the OP is assuming that the Exotic you get from putting in rares has the same chance of being a pre-cursor as the exotic you get from putting in exotics.
But that would just be an assumption. I think that the exotic you get from putting in rares has a lower chance to being a pre-cursor myself. but that would just be my assumption :-)
I’ve never seen a good thread that contains lots of data on putting exotics into the forge.
I have a feeling that the hard to get items for the tonics/foods are not going to be the Strawberries, Pumpkins, and the Ghost Peppers…. but rather the special items that will appear/drop once the event begins. But we’ll see once it starts :-)
lol… I would say none are very lucrative. I have 400 in the Tailoring, Weaponsmithing, and Jewelry crafts. You might be able to make 10-20 silver crafting a popular high-demand exotic, but generally speaking you typically would make more money by just doing dynamic events, gathering materials, or even just farming mobs. You really have to check the market and see for yourself, what items you might be able to make a few silver off that day. The market changes almost every day.
Yeah, But… I’m not hard core… I estimate, that with everything else I want being easier and probably coming first, it will take me around 1-2 years to forge Kraitkin. But I’m with GW2 for the long haul! :-)
When they said there are hints around the game about recipes, is this what they meant?

I wonder if that building has a clue written in Krytan on how to forge the Triforge Pendant or something. That very well could be one of the “clues”. But also could be ANet having fun using a pendant in their architecture lol :-)
Thanks! I Just was curious because I was just randomly tossing in a few extra rares I had yesterday, (3 shields and 1 dagger) and out popped a named exotic hammer… which made me think a pre-cursor could have popped out too.
Hammer sold for almost 8 gold too :-D was my lucky day.
and funny you mention venom. thats the pre-cursor for the legendary that I want! The Kraitkin! :-D I put an offer for 13.5 gold on the TP last week and someone took my offer, so step 1 is out of the way for me :-)
