I don’t have a picture, but it’s really small (so small it looks like a dot) with a small green glow around it. Not nearly as big as the green glowing globs of waste (can’t remember what they are actually called) that are easy to find all over the reactor, that toss your character when you touch them.
The matrix key is honestly small enough that you could have run past it several times… it doesn’t look like something you could interact with, but more like something that is naturally part of the environment.
*Edit: One more thing to mention. Say you and your friend both found a matrix key. You both charge them, and you use yours to open the barrier. Both you and your friend jump in…. Note that your friend’s key just got destroyed ;-) The keys are destroyed if you enter the instance while you have a key in your inventory. (probably to stop people from hoarding keys.)
someone stashing their money away… for who knows what reason. Lemons can’t be sold lol. So it’s like a back up bank. A person with that much cash tho… it could be a botter… Or a REALLY good TP trader.
Just a little clearer answer to #2:
There is only 1 skin of exotic crafted armor at this time. Called “Exalted” as Samandar mentioned. The skin does not change depending on what stats you use/race you are.
Another voice of displeasure here. I love the idea of infusion. But I hate that there are stat increases to this new armor. It’s basically ANet stating it’s alright to throw away their ideals that the majority of us came to GW2 for… I probably won’t quit GW2… but this is a deep blow to the heart and I don’t know how much longer I will continue to play if these “blows to my heart” continue.
I’m all for infusion slots, just not for stat increases. Infusions are an ingenious Idea! But they should be more like GW1, where you do a quest/event/dungeon to get your current exotic armor to become infuse-able. It shouldn’t be an increased new tier of armor with higher stats. Base stats should stay the same with the only change being the ability to have infusion slots upgraded to your current armor set.
I’ve had some ruined ore’s, plant fibers, and logs from gathering while getting attacked… Could you clarify whether you were getting attacked/in combat mode while gathering. or are you getting ruined ore even out of combat?
If you are getting the ruined ore out of combat, then I’d say there is a glitch/bug causing it.
This means they have 3 days of events… so it was either going to have the start on a Friday or the ending on a Monday (if they had started on Sat.)… ANet chose Friday for the weekday.
The highest Concurrency is specifically for Sunday 12 noon, and has nothing to do with the Friday start time.
Generally speaking: EU has always had more players/servers than NA, so it doesn’t have anything to do with population changes… it’s just always been that way. Being a worldwide game, ANet is always going to upset someone with whatever time they make the 1 time events. They chose the best time choices for the majority of their customers.
People up above were talking about Orichalcum and Gossamer as being “rarer” materials… how is a white, rarer than a white? They are no more “rare” from ANet’s standpoint than mithril or silk.
Ectos being exotic grade are a “rarer” material. I’ve noticed that I get more ecto with a BL kit than with a Mystic kit. However, as other people have stated, a BL kit is way too expensive to buy and profit from the additional ectos. I just got mine when I was trying (and failing) at getting a cool skin from the chests at Halloween time.
lighting is very important in GW2. Want pink hair? go to the dragonbrand… your hair will be pinkified.
They do have day/night options when creating a character, to help show how lighting will effect your character… but there are many different types of lighting throughout Tyria that will make you look like you never expected to look.
You can’t farm just these few events for long periods of time and avoid DR, that is true. If you want to avoid DR you need to spread out a little more. There are good events a little farther south than the OP’s map that would help you avoid DR, and still would give decent drops and karma.
@Vanilla: They don’t have to tools for roll backs yet. and the only way to get a deleted character back is to roll back the account. Also, ANet has stated that when rollbacks become available, they will not be used for people who accidentally delete items they didn’t want to delete. They will be used only for people who get their accounts hacked and the hackers wiped everything (or other similar circumstances to this)
I’m sure the other ones just haven’t been discovered yet… and there are 2 known recipes for daggers, other than the Mystic Dagger. Tear of Grenth and Jormag’s Needle. But I wish that there was some skin other than just holding icicles :-(
Yeah, in North America, Tarnished Coast is the server where the majority of role players are.
I’ve tried role playing myself… I’m too slow a typist, and not all that good at writing… it wasn’t for someone like me. I’ve role played for fun a little on my own in GW2 but you can’t expect someone who’s bad at role play, or doesn’t like role play to be doing it much, if at all.
Most MMORPGs are not really known for their role playing… But more for their communities or gameplay.
It’s not really that there are no recipes in the game… it’s that noone has worked on discovering dagger recipes because daggers are so small. :-( I don’t have the funds to test gifts with dagger parts, or I would have done so already.
The only dagger I’ve been able to find using dagger parts is the Mystic dagger, which is well known. And my research online only shows the 2 named daggers you already know about.
I also would like to know if anyone has figured out any other recipes… even if they only saw that it was a possibility and they don’t know what specifically the item is.
One slight change. For that Abomination Champion. Hit him about a dozen times, then leave. You’ll still get gold for the event, and that gives you a little more time to kill other things for loot :-)
Other than that I fully agree. I’ve done this and the loot drops are pretty good, and you can make good gold this way. Make sure to be wearing full Magic Find gear, Magic Find Jewelery, Magic Find (Luck) Sigil, with Magic Find food to maximize profits.
Magic Find gear is nothing but a gimick. There are a few players that tested full magic find for 3 weeks a few hours a day, ran and killed the same things on the same route, swapped back to their regular set up, and found barely a change in loot. Loot drops are all on a Random Number Generator(RNG), and you either get the good stuff or you do not.

I’ll believe my own testing that I’ve done, which shows a drastic increase in blue, green, yellow drops when I equip my MF gear.
listing fee NEEDS to be there… or you’d have constant re-listing of items 1 copper below the other person who just listed there’s one copper below yours. This would cause a cascading effect, and also would add unnecessary stress on the TP servers, and way too many re-lists.
I have no idea why you are salvaging your rares… when you get them, you are supposed to sell them for gold, you only salvage for ecto if you really really need ecto… then it’s still usually safer to sell the rare and buy an ecto with the proceeds.
Huh? Have you actualy checked the prices for ectos? One ecto goes for 15-17s. One! And if you use a BL salvage kit or master you might get 1-3ectos pe item. Selling one rare item get’s you a maximum of 13-15s, and if you go for buy orders it’s almost never more then 11s.
It could be a small gamble, but in the long run you definitely get more more gold salvaging then selling the item. I did a small statistic in my case and i got 1.4 ectos per item for 50 rares using one BL kit and one master kit. So i think it’s worth it.
If you have a BL salvage kit, then you are right, it’s better to salvage. But The OP obviously doesn’t have one from the terrible ecto rate that he is getting. Your average chance at an ecto is less than 1 per rare with any other salvage kit. That’s why rares are less valuable than ecto. If you are purely farming for gold, playing it safe is the best way to go.
They are obviously going to hide some things that would effect the market. and they are not obligated to tell us how many bots they ban.
Loot tables, drop rates, resource node changes, other things like that, I wouldn’t expect them to give all the information on changes to things like that, or the rich players are going to take advantage of the market and buy in or sell whatever was effected and become even more rich.
As far as I know, the only exotics that can be crafted are level 80. I’ve never seen any other level crafted or on any crafting site. Nothing on the Wiki either.
Level 76 Exotics are all from loot drops, chests, map completion, and there might be a couple other ways to get them that I don’t know of. But you can’t craft them.
While the rares help give you a nice boost of gold, it’s really all the many greens/blues that you should be selling to merchant that give you the majority of the gold you earn.

The farming method after all is meant to earn as much gold as possible, not to get as many ecto as you can.
Maybe you aren’t tagging enough monsters? I’ve noticed it takes my D/D Ele 2 hits minimum to tags monsters in Orr for loot. Sometimes it takes 3 hits. Lucky for me, my attacks are AOE, so I hit many monsters with each attack.
For Explorable Dungeons, Staff builds are usually wanted by groups for the fields and support that the staff offers.
I’ve only done Story mode dungeons so far myself, and I’ve always run D/D because I enjoy it the best. I’m level 80 though, with the powerful auras trait and auras give Swiftness, Fury, and Protection through my other traits. So I have a kinda support D/D build. I tend to use food that increases boon duration, as well as Superior Water runes for longer boon durations too.
My guild ran CM story with 4 eles and a Necro… was a blast ;-) quite literally! lol
It was before the fix tho… so we got stuck at the end with a glitch that wouldn’t let us complete it :-(
I can’t believe people are being picky with profession choices in story mode. But you need to find a better group, or a guild that runs dungeons for fun. Stinks that people are being this way about certain professions.
I wonder if there would be a way for a special “Time Travel” Asuran portal to be implemented, that would create an instance of the one time events of the past, so that people can participate in them, even if they miss the original.
Just an idea… would allow some people to participate in the one time events they missed, without breaking the realism of the world of Tyria.
I think that if the Claw’s Health doesn’t hit critical in the first 15 minutes, then tons of Champions should appear and kill everyone! then the claw should fly off and done, the end. Till ~4 hours later lol
Or just make the “trash mobs” get stronger over time… more Vets… then Champions… make it get to the point where the battle will be impossible to win, if the claw isn’t brought down.

For something that is supposed to be Unique and Legendary… being able to farm enough gold in a month or 2 for the pre-cursor sounds about right to me…. It should take a year to get a Legendary for any ordinary player.
In order to help they would need your Customer Service ticket number. So you might want to put that into your initial post.

and yes, that “combat mode” is a 3rd party system that makes the game more like a shooter console game. It’s been stated by ANet that using it could result in a ban.
This was one of the most anti-climactic events I’ve done in the game. You have this massive boss, with tons of HP, that takes FOREVER to kill! … and no chest at the end.
Over 1/2 the people after the event said “Where’s the chest???” and they are right. If you spend that much time fighting an event boss, there should at least be a small chest at the end.
I also agree that the Giant could do more attacks. What would really be cool is if he summoned “pets” of sort so that you get a little variety in the never ending battle. Also would help get a little loot into the battle as well as make it more challenging.
Noooooo! It’s the only fun and challenging boss in all of the open world! Don’t change the Fire Elemental!
Not to mention, a very small group can defeat him. While he can hit hard, he’s got very low HP for a boss. You just need to kill the adds first so you know what to dodge. The adds and the boss have the same AOE circles, but the Boss’ circles hurt much much worse and knock you down. (most likely downing you) You gotta help people up when they are down too!
I think there are traits that can give you an additional speed boost, like the Elementalist’s traits that makes them faster the longer they are attuned to air magic and the 10% speed boost while in air attunement. While Swiftness is capped at 33%, these traits are not “swiftness” they are passive speed enhancements.
I think using all the speed traits plus swiftness an elementalist can get around a 60-80% speed boost in total.
*edit: and I forgot, they also have a trait for 20% more while wielding daggers too. >.< Eles can get some serious speed.
Bubbles will always be Bubbles in my book. And I honestly don’t think that Alpha’s attack is the name of Bubbles. I bet it’s a little teaser of the 6th dragon… or maybe even a different elder dragon… one we haven’t even heard anything about yet.
Crafting booster doesn’t effect Character EXP gain, only the crafting EXP gain. (tho it will make your craft level faster, so your character will level faster, but your character will not level more than without it.)
I leveled a character from 2 to 26 by just maxing 2 crafts to 400 as well. I did not use the crafting booster. (I forgot lol, I had 2 crafting boosters in my bank too >.<)
I do not like this idea… it makes ZERO sense for a charged lodestone to become a molten lodestone or vice-versa.
However, the OP is right that lodestones need to become a little less rare. They are so scarce right now that prices are rising exponentially. There needs to be another way to get them… just not the way that the OP listed above
I like the old system better…. it took me days to figure out that now you have to hit enter for your number to “stick”… I constantly craft and was having to hit “Craft all” and estimate when to stop it to get the amount I actually needed.
I hate the new quantity bar… its such a pain… It took me weeks to figure out that you had to hit enter after typing the numbers for it to even register.

You will never be able to keep up 2 crafts that both need Fine (blue) materials to your current level. It’s incredibly difficult to keep just 1 of those crafts up (and I even failed at that). So taking on Tailoring and Artificing, while trying to keep them up to your level was basically impossible (without buying lots of stuff from the TP or basically grinding monsters that drop those materials for hours upon hours)
If you want to try to keep 2 crafts up to your level, I would suggest that you take Jeweler or Chef for your 2nd. Since neither of them need fine materials that are monster drops. It would still be difficult tho… I had to do specific runs to just gather materials, in order to keep my jeweler up to my level, and my tailoring fell behind and I had to finish it at 80. (TP wasn’t working back then, I couldn’t buy the fine materials I needed)
actually, the ratio is much worse than 4 silk to 1 gossamer… its more like 9 to 1.
As others have stated… one of the best ways to get gossamer is from the Mystic Forge. I also got lucky and got some from a map completion, but you never know what high end material you are going to get from that.
Yeah, A complete choice of stats only comes at every 15 levels (level 20, 35, 50, 65, and 80) when armor can be crafted. So you would need to purchase level 65 armor to get the stats that you want… level 65 crafted rares would work well until you hit level 80, if you’re prepared to pay whatever they cost. Or just get/gather the materials and have a tailor craft the armor for you.
I’ve done a little of everything from the event. Except for fight the mad king… I was really busy the past couple days and didn’t get on to do that. I haven’t done any of the achievements except the candy corn one. I tried the clock tower… that was a lot of fun, but after 4 straight hours of failing, I was burnt out lol. Maybe next year. I’m looking forward to getting on a little tonight, to see what stage 4 is like :-)
There is already a thread on this Niroy. They officially stated that they will not extend the Halloween event because they are too busy working on the next large update/event that will be occurring mid-November. While it is sad that some people are missing the event due to the hurricane, there will be a new event arriving in just a couple weeks :-)
@Anatolian: You can save up and buy it off the TP… that is always an option, tho it would take a long time to save that much.
Would take me probably 2-3 months to save up for Dawn/Dusk. But I’m a relatively casual player. and in 2-3 months the prices could have changed, tho I would expect them to have fallen a bit by then.
Sounds like lots of people who hate jumping puzzles are doing one >.< But then I’ve also heard someone say they got an exotic from the chest at the end, so who wouldn’t try it!
