The key to astral force? Stay in the fight.
If you are running solo or duo its going to charge slowly. Celestial Form is not meant to be a reset button.
If people would like to see Celestial Form become more reliable beyond +5man content maybe instead of AF generation they could just have CF start recharging at beginning of combat on ~15sec cd. Once off CD it can be used for ~7sec? When it ends it goes CD again. Leaving combat it is disabled.
Good tip mate. So you suggest to Stay in combat to get stomped by revenants and mesmers XD Wow
? You not have team mates?
Quit trying to defend the change to AF.
You’re either trolling or uninformed.
Thanks for killing our spec on Day One, Roy.
The ranger community thanks you.
Now, can we get Irenio to fix it?
Druid got gutted with the unannounced change to AF decaying out of combat.
Until/unless they revert/tweak this, I’ll just stick to core ranger.
And hope Roy doesn’t do any more damage.
I’m hoping against hope that this wasn’t intended & somebody (preferably not Roy) reverts/tweaks these AF changes.
As of right now, Druid is clunky & next to useless.
Roy strikes again.
Of course it’s a nerf. We can’t have Druid being viable, now can we?
Thanks for killing our spec on Day freaking One.
Thanks for not telling us about this nerf, Roy.
We appreciate it.
>.<
I’d love an inspect option which pulled up the forum post history and if there was any posts regarding mounts, DPS meters or capes, etc. I could immediately know and not group with that person.
/threadover.
Can’t disagree with any of this.
Our traps need some major love.
Irenio – You listening?
I don’t believe you.
Nope, I don’t either.
Irenio – First of all, Awesome changes. Thank you again.
Is there any chance that staff 1 could have burning added to it’s final pulse?
Also, did you consider reworking Cosmic Ray so that it’s more practical to use?
(edited by oshilator.4681)
Thank you, Irenio.
I know it’s easy to miss, but the changes are posted right here on this very forum…
It’s there now, yes. But it wasn’t when I started this thread.
Druid came out in really bad shape.
no it didn’t, lol.
Parts of it did. Parts of it did not.
That’s why I started this thread. In the hopes that we’d get some information before HoT launches.
Your constructive feedback has been really awesome so far and I trust will continue to be. I understand your concerns with not enough being communicated and I’m looking into getting more information out on some of the more solid changes we have.
Thank you.
I bet Roy got ahold of our Smokescale.
My fear is that once HoT launches, Druid will never be looked at again.
Irenio – While I appreciate you taking the time to answer my original question, I do have to ask: Why are we being made to wait until the 23rd to see/digest the changes?
It would be nice to know now, so that we can plan/change our builds accordingly.
There’ve been some changes to Druid staff, glyphs, traits and Celestial avatar skills.
One change I can mention is that Ancestral Grace will now end as soon as you reach your destination rather than having to wait out the animation. We weren’t able to do this before with point-based movement, but an awesome programmer threw together a way for us to script it in.
As Belzebu calls out: You’ll have to check out the rest of the changes on the 23rd!
Why the secrecy with the Druid changes? Every single change to the other professions elites have been discussed… With the exception of Scrapper. Karl McLain has released changes from BWE3 for the Daredevil and the Dragon Hunter… So sealed lips is not mandatory at this time…
Perhaps it’s because they know we’re either not going to like the changes or they didn’t change things enough to make Druid more effective.
I wouldn’t be surprised by either.

Seriously? You’ve made a bunch of changes and you won’t tell us any of them now?
We really have to wait until launch?
Wow.
One of the changes I’d love to see (but that we’ll never get) is the return of Spirits Unbound.
But I digress….
Are we going to see any?
Or have they decided everything is fine as-is?
Black Widow Spider – Muffins
Reef Drake – Mittens
Salamander Drake – Matches
Marsh Drake – Mouthwash
Shark – Molars
Brown Bear – Tonsils
Cave Spider – Elizabeth
Jungle Spider – Booker
Eagle – November (when I’m repping my bank guild, tag [RAIN] )

This community will (and frequently does) whine about absolutely anything.
This OPs post is one of the best examples of this I’ve ever seen.
And having been here 3 years, that’s saying something.
Five minutes to load a map?
Have you considered NOT playing on a toaster?
If an asura fails at something, could you say they “came up short”?
Played for a couple of hours on Druid. Overall, I love it. But I do feel it needs a few tweaks.
Staff -
Solar Beam – Damage is ok. But perhaps some burning ticks on the last pulse wouldn’t hurt. Or a slight damage increase overall on the skill.
Ancestral Grace – It needs an evade added to the end of it and/or a little bit of damage.
Vine Surge – Could this be changed to ground target like necro wells do? The arrow pointer is bit cumbersome to use in the middle of a fight.
Glyphs –
As others have said, they seem to be lacking ‘oomph’. The effects on Glyph of Empowerment & Unity could stand to be a little stronger. And a stun break on one of them would be awesome.
Celestial Avatar -
Cosmic Ray – Needs a rework. It’s clunky to ground target.
Lunar Impact – Lower the activation time & perhaps decrease the stun time by half a second.
Natural Convergence – Increase the duration of the conditions it applies and maybe add some stability while it’s active.
The new pets are wonderful. Please don’t fix the godzilla-Bristleback bug.
But their health pools seem a tad on the low side. Maybe a vitality buff is in order.
And the way the staff is held really screams ‘melee’. Could that maybe be changed to more caster-like animations?
And lastly – Please don’t let Roy near this class again.
(edited by oshilator.4681)
Please, please don’t fix this. It’s awesome.
Infact, more pets should grow into godzilla-esque sizes when you use that signet.
I think this is more of a “placate the ranger crowd so they’ll play Druid this weekend & hopefully forget about what we just did” thread.
I’ll be very surprised if anything comes of this.
And even more surprised if we see any positive changes to the class.
Gaile Greypanda the chop chop.4712Alright well let’s discuss, a full explanation in complete detail in why these changes were made, why was ranger boons were discussed on Twitter rather than the ranger community to begin with, why was the inherent issues of “boon duration” discussed via Twitter only to have two side changes made on top of those durations made without announcement ANYWHERE?
I hope you understand how disrespected and shocked many of of us are, hundreds? Thousands of us. I hope you realize that some of them don’t want to stand up but that’s why those of us who will fight for those who can’t are right here to stand up against this unjust treatment. We diserve better than a Twitter feed.
IGN: ItspandaAll this has already been asked and answered. Closed. NOT because we’re trying to stop discussion, but because we’re trying to make the most of everyone’s time and efforts in sharing their thoughts.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Discussion-from-ranger-community-to-devs
actually…this was never answered. I looked back through the dev posts (mostly posts from Gaile) and there is no answer to this. This was the closest response but it doesn’t answer the question at hand.
Gaile GreyWe have forums for a reason. While Twitter is great for a lot of things, for something of this depthy, you can’t have a meaningful discussion at 140 characters.
If you have feedback, place it here. Don’t ping devs on Twitter or other places — just share your thoughts here!
So…again yes, we have the forums for a reason. Why was this change discussed on a dev’s personal twitter and not on the forums?
Because the dev who made the change to WHaO thinks the ranger class is a joke & treats it like one.
Still waiting on Roy to come give his reasoning for limiting WHaO to 3 might stacks & destroying the duration of the other boons.
What guarantee do we have that they’ll read any of this?
Because one of the key designers stood at my desk 20 minutes ago and told me. I trust him. I hope you trust me enough to know I wouldn’t say this if it wasn’t true: This thread will be read.
But again, constructive is the key, and I’m hoping that people won’t continue to flare, but will give good, substantive feedback.
Fair enough, and I can accept that.
I just would like to know the reasoning behind capping the might at 3 stacks on WHaO.
What guarantee do we have that they’ll read any of this?
Merged? Typical. Now they don’t have to actually read anything.
I’ve never been one to say “Justify your reasoning to me, Anet.”
But this time? Yeah. I want the reasoning/logic behind this change & why it was done the way it was done.
As others have said, warriors & eles stack might with ridiculous ease.
And what in the world was wrong with any of the boon durations besides quickness?
Agreed. Please tell us why might stacking as a ranger is forbidden.
So…. shouts are worthless. Spirits are useless. Healing Spring got nerfed into uselessness. TU takes time to kick in, so try to predict when to use it or get killed.
And now, rather than actually adjust WHaO, they take the lazy way & just give it the Fortifying Bond treatment.
I’m honestly beginning to wonder if they’re actively trying to get folks to stop playing ranger.
And I say this as someone who has 8 rangers.
Big +1s to the Unlocking Traits/Skills section.
Until there are changes at the top of Anet’s leadership positions, absolutely NOTHING will change.
I never farmed this, myself… but I honestly don’t see why it needed to be fixed/nerfed.
It wasn’t hurting anything.
So let me get this straight… an ACCOUNT BOUND mini with precursor-like drop rates is acceptable? And working as intended?
Really? You’re that out of touch with the playerbase?
Just wait… with the November patch we’ll get some form of China’s VIP system.
And the justification will be “our metrics showed that playing games without some form of sub fee was confusing to new players.”
Anet – PLEASE start listening to your veteran players.
Otherwise, you might not have any players at all.
I’ve never played an MMO where the development team had less respect for it’s playerbase like GW2 does. The whole “too confusing for new players” line is getting old. And we all know (and you do too, Gaile, Colin, whomever is reading this) that it’s a lie.
This is a cashgrab on your part. You knew it. Why else would you say NOTHING about this change and make the patch as late in the day as you did?
Were you hoping we wouldn’t notice?
The past 2 months have destroyed your credibility for the most part. First came the NPE which next to nobody needed, or wanted. Alongside that came the interviews which, among other things, basically said you weren’t working on dungeons, nor were you going to be anytime soon. And now this.
Kudos, guys. You really know how to anger your playerbase.
Unless, of course, they’re NEW players. Because NEW players are all you seem to give a kitten about.
Also.. if the China VIP system gets implemented here, I’m out.
That would cause me to /uninstall.
The NPE is insulting. What happened to the stance that the China release wouldn’t affect us?
These are, as many have said, changes that almost nobody wanted or asked for.
As a veteran player since beta, I shouldn’t have to wade through a hand-holding-pile-of-garbage to level a new alt. And neither should anybody else.
Please roll this back.
Yes, please. As somebody whose been here since Beta, this is very, very insulting.
“We really can’t comment on anything right now” – The Devs.
I’ll start a separate thread shortly to discussion one of the potential ideas for how we could help provide at least a bit more of a clear picture similar to CDI to help guide and discuss topics while staying within the company policies on communication development.
I’ll also make sure your feedback is passed up the chain from those who gave feedback on that specific policy.
Thanks folks!
“Up the chain”? You’re the Game Director. How does the chain not start & end with you?
I’ll just echo what others have said here… the more you say “oh, we can’t talk about that”, the more frustrated we’re going to get. The more frustrated we get, the more toxic it’s going to become around here.
I usually defend Anet, but I can’t right now. Those last 2 interviews were disasters, and you’re really not helping yourself with your posts here either.
If they were to do anything like the OP is suggesting, I’d be uninstalling immediately.
Bad idea is bad.
